  1. Started by Sleeved&Hopeful,

Hey guys! It's my six month surgiversary and everything is moving along smoothly the way I had always hoped and dreamed of. There were a couple of stalls along the way but they never lasted very long and I always knew they'd go away. Highest weight before pre op diet-225 Weight at surgery-218 6 months post op-143.3 My goal weight is 125-130 range because I'm only 5'4" and I mean right on the nose. So I'm fairly short! My exercise has been 3-4 times a week of moderate intensity workouts. If I work out too hardcore--I overcompensate by eating more calories than I should be and it eliminates the calories I burned. So i figured I have to do something in between. …

I am one month out, and I am now canceling this account. I joined this site to find support from people that have lived in similar situations as myself. I have found many helpful people in that reguard, but mostly there are a lot of judmental people that reply to posts in counterproductive ways, that are usually boadering on mean. If someone posts on here asking for help, you should certainly give them some answers, but if you start your reply with "Why would you go against your doctor's orders" then you are an idiot. That isn't helpful. They know they are doing something wrong, or they wouldn't have posted for help. Instead, why not actually tell them something that…

I just wanted to do a little happy dance for being 1/3 of the way to my goal! I am 5 1/2 weeks post op and hit my first goal. When I get down 3 more lbs...I get my first little treat! My hubby set the second goal. So down 50 lbs...100 lbs to go! My next goal is to be down 10 more lbs before Labor Day! I love reaching goals. I like to be a winner, I hate losing so that is why being over weight was such a disappointment for me!

  5. This is just an update and praise report because I haven't been on here in a while, I've been busy living it up and loving my new life since surgery! I don't think I have ever been happier. I really have a whole new outlook on life. Activities with the kids are no longer a huge chore. I can ride bikes with my girls, play ball and just chase them around without exhausting myself. My relationship with food, my kids and even myself has totally changed for the better. Also, my divorce was final just before my surgery and I never thought I'd be dating much less falling in love again but I've actually found a really great guy who I know would love me regardless of weight. But l…

So ..I had posted recently that I was able to wear my wedding band and engagement ring again. Well I also had a mother's ring I couldn't wear my hubby designed and commissioned a man named David to make for me. This ring is very special to me because 1) my hubby loving designed the infinity design and had all of our birthstones placed within the infinity symbol, and 2) David was dying with colon cancer and this was one of the last rings he commissioned to make. When I got it to my surprise, my birth stone was not the right one, but David had a turn for the worse and I didn't have the heart to take it back..David passed a couple of days later. So for a long time ..I wa…

I everyone......just got home today from my sleeve surgery on Monday July 30. Everything went so smoothly and I couldn't be happier! Only had to have pain meds while in recovery. Of course I'm super sore but never have been in pain. To me, having a c-section was somewhat worse. Wearing the band they gave me around my abdomen area has been very helpful. So far, so good! Wonder how other "July 30ers" are doing.....

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would do a progress report. I started at 270 lbs. and am now 222! I have lost a total of 48 lbs and could not be happier with my decision to have the sleeve. I am wearing clothes that have been packed away for over 2 years. I feel so much better!! I can get my wedding rings on my finger again!! My best NSV so far was about a week ago. We have a really small bathroom and while I was in Front of the mirror getting ready for work my husband went to squeeze by me to use the bathroom and instead of squeezing through like he use to do he just walked right behind me. He stopped and was like wow!! Thats proof of how much smaller…

It is hard to believe that today I am 16 weeks post op and that I am actually posting under "Success Stories"! As of this morning I have lost 69 lbs and am officially in ONEDERLAND!!! To make things better, I slipped on for the first time in 20 years a pair of size 14 pants!!! I was fortunate to have had a quick, uneventful recovery. Weight dropped off quickly at first, but really has slowed down this past month and I am ok with that. As I was giving my youngest a piggy back ride around the house the other day, I had the realization that I have lost her in weight. I also thought "How did I carry this much weight around all day, every day? No wonder I never had ener…

Does this sound crazy? I am a very friendly, sociable person but not one that enjoys the spotlight. I remember the last time I got thin, it was very uncomfortable to have so much attention. I will admit that positive attention is much easier to take than the hushed negative whispers "oh my gosh, she got so fat" kind of attention. Then there is the other nasty problem: I am already dreading the bunches of people (and I know who they are) who will be giving me attention and compliments on my weight loss. I was an average size person and then I gained a lot of weight after having 3 kids, and then I was heavy (not this heavy though) for years, I finally lost a lot after th…

Hi everyone! well, had my sleeve yesterday.... i told my aneshtesiologist that i tend to get nauseous after general anesthesia. she pre-medicated me for nausea before she put me out. when i woke up, i moved in the bed and got really nauseous again - my anesthesiologist was standing right there and she gave me meds again (zofran), and i never had nausea again after that. yay! i had to pee a lot when i woke up, and had a hard time using the bedpan (tried about 5 times and could only have partial success). after about 3 hours after my surgery, they let me walk to the bathroom and i was able to go well - that felt a lot better. i didnt need any pain meds in the post-ane…

  31. I had my VSG just a little over two years ago (7/13/2010) and I consider myself a success story -- I have maintained a weight loss of about 120 pounds. I do find that I am still struggling with some head hunger issues. Last night, I took my kids to dinner at a restaurant that specializes in thin crust coal oven baked pizza. It was deliciious. I had one slice and I was absolutely full and knew that if I ate more, I would have trouble and could perhaps get sick. Even though I enjoyed it and was full, I really wanted that second slice and felt cheated because I couldn't have it. Fortunately, I got up from the table to use the restroom which gave me a little time to th…

Anyhow, had a friend at work take some pics of me today and to my amazement I liked almost all of them. I have been lucky to not have any complications, and I feel like a completely different person with more energy and more self esteem. I can finally shop in the little trendy stores instead of the special plus sized stores, and have more energy to keep up with my little boys (3 and 5). If anyone out there is contemplating having this surgery or not, all I have to say is this surgery is one of the best things that I have ever done, absolutely no regrets. Feeling great!!

I need any kind of victory I can get! 1. went off the (low) diving board at a public pool for the first time in years! I have a torn meniscus and was always afraid I wouldn't be able to get up the ladder. I also had fears of snapping the board in half! lol 2. I went out to dinner for the first time since being allowed real food and stayed on the plan. I actually went out twice, got chicken once and seafood once (all baked or grilled)... had maybe two bites of the accompanying mashed potatoes and rice (forgot to…
