My husband has been wanting me to go to this festival for years, but I would not go. I was always too big. It is hot this time of year and I knew I would burn up; not to mention the pain I would be in from having to carry myself around. Well, this year we went. I walked around with no pain or exertion at all, did not even dew up, let alone sweat. And drum roll please..... I rode ALL of the rides. I haven't been on rides in years. I had no trouble what so ever fitting in the seats or fastening the guards. And to top it all off, my husband boosted me by the waist into a tall seat and another operator offered to get me down. YAY!! So this is a video link to me celebrating my…

How do I share my pics? Attach the to my post? I was not going to post any pictures until I lost 50lbs but when we saw the difference I was so excited that I just wanted to tell people. I have not told anyone at work and I am going back Monday. I have told my close family members and shared the photo with my daughters, son and daughter in law..but no one else. So since you are my sleeve buddies I just wanted to share with you!

Hi Everyone. I am new here but I have been reading everyone's posts for some time now. How inspiring. I have learned so so much here about the sleeve and everyone's success stories. I wanted to write and tell my story so far. I was sleeved on July 6,2012 in Mexico with Dr. Juan Lopez Corvala. GREAT doctor!!!! I am down 21 pounds so far in only 7 days! I am so happy. I am happy to be a part of the losers bench. Thanks for everyone's posts and stories. You all have definitely made this journey a lot more easier for me. I was so prepared because of YOU! Thank You!!!!

I had Lap Band with Plication in May of 2011. I weighed 239lbs. and was 5 ft. 9 in. tall. I now weigh 162lbs. and I feel great. I am very happy I had it done. I would like to hear from other people who have had this surgery. I also am a urostomy person. I don't have a bladder and they still did this surgery on me. I feel so much better to have lost all that weight and I have more energy. I eat pretty much what I want to just less of it. I also drink a lot of Slim Fast. Let me hear from you!

So I was at Payless today getting some shoes for my son, and I decided just for fun to try on some shoes. I have NOT been able to wear shoes from any store like that for YEARS. I had to order online size 10 or 10 1/2 WW or WWW or WWWWWWWWWWWWW........well....you get it... So here is a picture of the 10W I put on and IT FIT!!!! HOORAAAAYYYY!!! (don't mind my 'canckles') I even tried on a regular 10 that was a bit stretchy and I got it on too!! WOO HOOOOOO I almost bought them just because they fit!!! LOL

It has been a long while since I have been on VST. I always thought I would stay involved and "pay it forward" but as time went by, life took over. I thought I would post my story for the newly sleeved and/or those considering the sleeve. I know reading others stories helped me when I was starting my WLS journey. I had my VSG July 7. 2009 with Dr. Aceves. I haven't regretted it one bit! I am 5'4 and started at 201 lbs. I set my goal at 145 lbs and reached it in just 6 months. I changed my goal to 135 lbs & reached it a few months later and continued to lose. Today I am happily (and easily, might I add) maintaining around 120 lbs. I went from a size 18/20 to a 4/…

I was sleeved Monday morning. That day I was surprised I could drink/eat comfortably. Yesterday, although 3 days out, I found it very uncomfortable to eat/drink. I could feel even small drinks like a ton of bricks in the pit of my stomach. What is going on???!!!!

I'm 6 months out & just got back from a really great trip to Disney. At 60 lbs down (halfway to goal) it was so much easier to walk. Last year I had to stop a lot to catch my breath & this year I led the family! The highlight was riding the teacups with my kids. Last year I could hardly get in the teacup (had to basically step over the doorway cause I couldn't fit through it - and my stomach cut into the bar so my kids could not really turn it. This year I had no trouble just walking in, sitting down, & had about 8 inches to spare with the bar. My youngest shouted out "Mama I am so proud of you - your tummy won't slow us down anymore!" and I said "You ar…

I am so excited. I am two weeks out and officially down 20 pounds. I am so excited. My pre-op weight was 306 and today I stepped on the scale at 286!!!! So excited. I start in the gym next week. Can't wait to see the pounds fall off when I really start moving. Yay me!!!

My husband and I were play fighting today, which we often do, and out of no where he pulls a move never used on me before... He grabs my collar bone! I didn't know I had them... He told me they've been poking out a few weeks now. Went to the bathroom mirror to check... I'll be damned.. there they were. NSV number 1227... Lol...(or so it feels lol)

Three months out, 69 lbs down! I workout everyday 4 machines 10 minute intervals... Or treadmill and weights, love my body by GOD! Half way to my goal!!!
-
I keep pinching myself because I can hardly believe it myself!! It's been ages since I've seen the 100s on the scale and today...IT WAS THERE!!! I am 9 months out and wish I knew last year at this time how rewarding this journey would be! I seriously thought that I would be the one person that VSG would fail on. And now? More energy than I know what to do with!! Thanks for letting me share!!

I thunk I shrunk again. I can wear 12s and even 13s. I'm also wearing some Hang Ten Jeans that looked like doll clothes 6 months ago. I even fit into a 34 x 32 BUTTON FLY 501 pair! I got 10 pair of new/old pants and 6 new/old tops. Funny about some of the jeans and pants I have. The ones from the 90s or so (I think) are high wasted and the denim is HEAVY. Don't like them at all. I gave them to Goodwill as well. The Hang Tens are acid washed. My daughter just rolls her eyes and puts on her skinny jeans. My dad saw me this weekend and he hasn't seen me since Father's day and he was flabbergasted and pleased. I don't notice differences so much because I see me ever…

Hello everyone. My surgery is tomorrow. Any words of advice? My starting weight is 260.

I just had an appointment with my surgeon. He called me a Superstar and told me I am one of his top losers, if not THE biggest loser. I am so excited! 52 pounds GONE in 16 weeks with a 2.2 cc fill in a 10 cc band. Not bad for a 51 year old lady. I feel great and I LOVE MY BAND!
-
Almost six weeks post op and I can finally wear my wedding rings again! Woo hoo! I had to pry them off my finger (no easy task) almost two years ago and I have not been able to wear them since. Thank goodness I am a born procrastinator and never got around to having them resized, because they fit me again! Yay! I always felt like my finger was naked and also felt a little weird about not wearing them. Thankfully my husband never questioned it.

Got banded 4 weeks ago and my guest gill was on Friday very disappointed to see I was still hungry !! I wanna know when did you guys not feel hungry and how did u succeed with the lap band I exercise daily but what other things should I be doing ??

I know this is a brave move on my part but here goes.... The first pic is of me last spring in Brazil (far left) (234 lbs). I was there visiting for a wedding and this pic was taken by my brazilian family and I didnt know it would eventually end up on Facebook! I was so embarrassed by it. I got tagged in it and it went all over my page and everyone saw it before I could get it taken down. Anyways.....The second and third pics are of me at the beach last week (147 lbs). I have a funny tan line on my belly that we all thought was hilarious. I do think there is quite a bit of difference that nearly 90 pounds makes! I am no supermodel but I thought I looked decent in a …

So I've been beating myself up because I had my surgery done on the 18th of June and was not seeing great #'s on the scale for weight loss, in fact one week after surgery I had a one pound weight loss. At two weeks a total of 7 lbs loss since surgery and I just hit the scale for my 3 week weigh in and low and behold I hit my 1st goal on my list of things I had set and that was to see onderland! I did it- 199.2 lbs. I haven't seen onderland in twenty years and did a little jig I was so excited. The great thing was my daughter who had just set the scale up and was getting on it told me not to look while she got on it ( she's 21 and weighs 125lbs) she let me see after she …

I have read a lot of posts that people with a higher bmi lose more, and/or lose faster than those with a lower bmi? Do u find this to be true? Where is the line you consider higher 40? 45?

A year ago, I would never have imagined I would be sharing pictures of me in a bathing suit online. Isn't it amazing what can happen in a year? I've lost over 70 pounds. These pictures are from last week. Please ignore the multiple colors of skin being exposed. I have not yet figured out how to buy bathing suits and summer clothes that have similar exposure patterns, so I am brown, red and go-blind white. The last picture shows the area I still really need to work on: my upper thighs, but things in even that area are so much better than a year ago. Linda

Ok, My Sunday Morning Rant..... First let me start with this...My brother died at the age of 60. My sister at 64. Both confined to a Nursing Home at a early age. So, there I was, 58, sitting in my Dr's office. Diabetes, cholesterol, triglycerides all off the chart. Already had one Heart Attack resulting in Cardiac Surgery. My Dr. looked me right in the eye and said the Dominoes have already started to fall, and unless I loose 50-70 lbs I will surely die soon. When I had my first consult for lap band surgery, it was looked upon as a "Aggressive, radical, last resort option" So when I was informed it would force me to give up foods I like, make me sick/vomit if I don't…

See people posting about having a stall or a really bad stall. I understand this means they've stopped weight loss for a period of time. This is different than slowing down? How does a person know they have stalled? By time? life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX

So in 2009 I had surgery and now I just signed up for the Army Ten Miler to benefit the Fisher House. I've always wanted to do this but wouldn't have been able to without the surgery. I'm down 100+ lbs from my highest weight and pretty close to my next weight loss goal (yes I've had a few goals). The Fisher House provides lodging for families of wounded soldiers. If you can donate shoot me a message and I'll send you my donation link.

I posted this in post surgery but I guess it should have gone here. I was just too excited... I finally did it! I hit the onderland. I have not been under 200 in over 13 years. You should have seen me I had just gotten out of the shower (o.k. well maybe you don't want to see that, lol) and decided what the yeck it's been a couple of days let's weigh and see what it says. I was actually shocked and just stood there. When it finally registered that the scale wasn't broke and not going to move anymore I started crying I was so happy. I got dressed and ran outside to find my husband and it was so funny as soon as he saw me he said "you made it under the 200 mark didn't you…

Hi everyone. I am set for surgery 4-21-11. I am glad I joined this site. I was feeling discouraged and nervous about being banded and not being successful. However, I've learned from this site that the band is only a tool and I have to use it correctly to "build a house." I've noticed that the people that are successful have used it as a tool and followed the rules and are where they want to be. I think I am ready to do the same thing. I bought some exercise equipment and ready to get started even before surgery. I have about 150 lbs to go till a normal BMI. I can't wait. Anyone out there 5-6 years out? How is it going for you now?

Yep 5 Months today, I know you want to know my numbers!!! Ok 83 Pounds lost to date. Amazing, I work out allot and try to push myself. 4 Miles walks is what I am up to, it may take me 1 hour 20 mins but Im in it to win it!

Tears of joy! Why are my emotions tied so closely to my weight??? I got on the scale today and it said 179! The last time i remember being happy with myself was almost 15 years ago when i was in the 170s. Still have 30lbs to goal but feeling so positive. I think my mom would be so proud of me!

Hello I was wondering how successful lap band surgery is 1,2,3,4...8, etc years from when you originally received it. Ive heard that a lot of people have needed to take it out due to complications. I haven't heard much about people with lapband for longer periods of time any complications. Does it have a high success rate in the future?

Finally something I'm not upset about losing!!! It will be a month this week since I was sleeved and here are a few things I have lost already... What about you... what have you lost? one shirt size (down from 3x to 2x) Pant sizes (down from a 40 to a 36) A LOT of my chin and neck... I actually have a chin!!!! amazing The need to stop at the top of a flight of stairs to catch my breath. I actually ran up one flight the other day and was amazed at how easy it was. The urge to constantly have a snack in front of me. Seeing the weight come off truly helps you keep your goals in focus. The pain in my right side. I used to get horrible pains in my right side under…

Last night my husband Gordon & I were at dinner @Superior Steak House celebrating his birthday, (we both were "dressed up"). An old friend that we had not seen in a couple of years came by totally disregarding me and angrily told Gordon "Man, I didn't think you were the type to dump a perfectly good woman for this "younger cupcake" I really thought you & Linda were soul mates" He then looked at me and began to tell me how "wonderful" Gordon's Linda was , so I said thank you and told him next month we will be celebrating 31 years together and that's when he realized it was me! After the usual OMG you look fantastic, he left & Gordon and I continued our dinner b…

I'm so close to goal. The last 10# have been a little challenging. I've just been so anxious to see the scale start with a "12.." #, I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale today and saw this for the first time since I have been in probably 6th or 7th grade!!! Truly amazing!!! The scale was 129.8, but hopefully by morning it will be down a few more ounces to lock that in solid! Just 9# to go!!! I know that maintenance is going to be a challenge, but I'm ready!

Just popping in online to update my weightloss tracker. I'm down to 265 from 390 with a VGS surgery date of 1/12/2012. I'm finding I don't come on the site much any more and I'm starting to think some of the other people who are Veteran sleevers don't visit much after they hit their goals. This place is a great for motovation. For those on the fence with fear about it, sometimes you just have to take a chance and do something that will BETTER you. W

I Realize it's to be expected to have crazy emotions sometimes! Today while sitting at my fav restaurant sipping on my water..and yesterdays movie wit hubby and son eating my all time favorite popcorn...I just lost it! It's hard to explain the feeling although I'm sure many of you will be able to relate...it's not that I was craving those foods at all...I think I was mourning the process of stuffing my face till I was miserable!! I'm only 6 days post op so I do realize it gets better!! It just a huge adjustment that in the long run will be so worth it!!
