Hi All, Wanted to share some progress pictures... I'm somewhere between 35-40lbs down from my highest weight (which was only 3lbs off my surgery weight) depending on the day, time, etc... I am trying really hard not to be a slave to my scale because it gives me rage, heh. Please excuse the complete lack of hair and makeup in any of these pictures... I swear I'm not this much of a bum every day! Here are a couple that I took about a month ago (1.5 weeks after surgery) and then yesterday: Standing on my toes in this one, heh. I'm all of 5'1" so I have to do that to see anything below my torso! And here's one with my family at Disney in February 2012, 2.5 m…

I am going to the Bahamas soon and I bought a pair off pants about a month ago that I couldn't even button. I stalled for about 2 weeks, I finally lost another pound and tried on my pants. Woohoo, they buttoned, definately still tight but I still can't believe it!
-
I have been in a 6 week stall and started to think that I wasn't going to lose anymore! Last week a lot of people started commenting on my weight loss and how I was getting skinnier and skinnier and I kept thinking, "I WISH!". Then yesterday..........BOOM! The scale dropped 7 pounds! What a relief! I hope I can keep it going again for a while. Onederland here I come!

I've always hated weighing at the doctor, because for one thing, I was always higher than the last visit. And...my home scale was always 5 lbs lighter than any other scale on the planet (but I still insisted it was correct and THEY were wrong). Noooowwwww however, one surgery, and one new scale later....I have them shuffling through their paperwork muttering.... "wait a minute...that can't be right.....this says.....wait....you couldn't have lost... WHAT???" HAHAHAHA I love it!!!! Most doctors only see sick people. I've gotten to see the cardiologist and family doc get all happy because I'm getting HEALTHIER! Pretty good feeling folks. Wouldn't you agree??

So as the title says I was banded on May 10th of 2012 and including the pre-surgery diet I have lost 50lbs so far. I didn't think I would have anything to Celebrate only a few weeks out, but I already do and thought I would share: 1. Everyone at work keeps asking me how much weight I've lost and how I am doing so well . 2. I went to the back of my closet and pulled out 10 items of clothing I haven't worn in 5 years or more! 3. My wife and I went to Disney World together and when we have gone in the past I am usually walking along with my feet hurting trying to keep up with her. This time she was trying to keep up with me! Also, I was able to ride a few rides …

They may be tight.....but darn it they are ON and zipped!! WHOO HOO! I never in a million years thought I would be able to get into them. I bought them over a year ago and gave them to my tiny sister and told her that I hoped to someday get them back. Well tonight, I casually asked what size they were and said that it would still be a while. Well, she sent them home to me and I thought "what the heck!" and low and behold they fit! When I say "happy dance" I mean...."wake up the whole freakin' house and jumping up and down" kind of dancing! LOL! A few before's....just for the record. me and my BFF at a concert.

So I've got a fella coming over here in a little while to do some man chores around the house for me, and I've been thinking of how to amuse him while he's painting my bathroom....so I threw on a nice black lace corset, some black thigh-highs, and high-heeled leather boots in front of the mirror and for the first time in my life thought "Man, I kinda look bangin' in lingerie!" Thanks, Dr. Aceves and Crossfit!

Hello! I haven't been on lately, but I wanted to stop by and post on my progress. I am 6 months out from surgery as of today (11/21/11). As of today, I have lost 79 pounds. 14 of those pounds were on the pre op diet, so since surgery, I have lost 65 pounds. I have soo happy and my life has already changed so much! I began at 259 and now weigh 180. My doctor looks at me in amazement every time I go in. He said I should be a trainer or how to lose weight with the lapband lol. Honestly though, I am super duper strict. I eat really well, count my calories, and go to the gym 5 times a week. I also jog 3 times a week. I now only have to see my doctor every other month (which sa…

well time has flown by in the past 6 months. Can't tell you how good I feel since surgery. Down to 208, from 316. 44 pants to 34 pants, 3xl shirts to xl all good. 34 pants are baggy and can fit in 32's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!been along time since I wore 32 pants. LOL No more insulin, bp meds, cholesterol meds, none! Feeling wonderful. I can jump, climb, run, anything I used to do back several years ago, before I got sick. If your thinking of this surgery? It's a true winner in my book, other than not doing any buffet's. LOL I'm amazed at how good I feel and you will be also. Good luck

This journey is definitely a learning experience and I keep learning and seeing new possibilities. Having what I would say is a less than great day at work, frustration, moodiness (me and others), TOM and just feeling like things are not in the best place. So this morning, I felt the need for a pick me up...went for the chocolate (alcohol would have been preferable but it was 10am), had 2 bites and that was enough to take the edge for a bit. Not wanting to succumb to the food hunger, had a tea and went to the gym to work out some frustration...a healthier way to deal with stress. Anyway at the gym, i tried (have been slightly attempting for a while) to do a sit up. …

I still have a nice shape to my thighs (at least on the front side lol) but I have noticed that if I apply pressure with my hand and rub my thighs I can feel what I'm guessing are small "fat balls" underneath the skin. I'm worried as I lose more weight these will start showing up as cellulite/cottage cheese. Does anybody else have this issue? I was thinking of buying some kind of vibrating/massage thing like those 3 or 4 legged ones that state they are for the back that you can get at Bed Bath & Beyond, but I'm thinking of using it with a lot of pressure on my thighs to try and "break up" these fat balls before they become noticible. I've never had any kind of mas…

Hey Guys Sorry I haven't been around in a while, been swamped with school work and marriage plans (she got me). Anyway a quick update, have lost 120lbs and trying to maintain at goal of 180 though I could probably do another few I feel comfy at 180 and I don't want to be a really small guy. But my question pertains to restriction. I have always had great restriction, but lately I have been able to eat more. Granted its been 7 months and I expected some expansion but last night I was able to eat a whole subway 6 inch including bread and veggies and was full not stuffed! Just wondering how you success story guys have had this much change after this amount of time? Thanks

It seems when I vacation, I lose weight. My last trip to Florida netted me a 6 pound loss in 13 days. When scratching my cranium trying to deduce the reason for this phenomena I came to this conclusion: *more activity *less snacking When I am home I have access to the fridge and take advantage of that opportunity almost mindlessly. I also spend more time on the computer sitting on my stationary derriere. Rather than spend major dollars going on stacked up vacations I believe I will pay more attention to snapping myself out of the "Zombie snacker" mode and move like I'm animate.

Went to the surgeon today and was set up with my surgery date for June 18th! The dr sd he usually required a liquid diet for two weeks but since I had done so well with my weight loss as long as I promised not to go crazy he wasn't going to require it of me! So exciting but at same time feels weird to be ecstatic about someone cutting into me and removing majority of my stomach.

My son announced his engagement soon after I got banded. With exactly 12 months til the wedding, I had a goal to work towards. I was down almost 60kg by the time he got married last month. Here is a link to preview their wedding book.

Pre op I took Vyvanse daily for ADHD. I went back to work today and restarted my normal dose. I was in high gear all day like a rat on crack ... And still am at 4am. I took Ambien 10mg and it didn't even phase me. Anyone else have any experience or input? Miserable!!!

I have been tearing my hair out stalled at 214 lbs. for the past two weeks, but I started trying on clothes last night and I realized that I may need at least some new jeans or capris. I started this journey wearing a size 22, these jeans I bought today are a 16... back atcha scale... This has motivated me to keep eating right and going to the gym and making it happen. So even though the scale is going down, my pants are literally falling off me and my ring fits again, I haven't really paid much attention to other changes...I took the first picture when I was a 2 months out from surgery..that is my tummy and about a half an inch of space then the steering wheel...the second one I took on Saturday and it is a bigger space!! Seeing things like this actually proves to me that it is working!!

SO, when I reach my goal weight I'd like to get a tattoo to commemorate the accomplishment and to act as a reminder to never return to my old weight/ways. What would you get tattoo'ed and where for such a reason? I'm looking for ideas! I would not want anything big or hugely noticeable. This will be my first tattoo!

I had my 6 month followup with surgeon last Thursday and counting what I lost over the weekend I am now down 136 lbs total since I started my pre-op a week before surgery back in November. I have another 84 lbs to go to reach my goal. The surgeon was very please with my progress, said he was going to be happy and say "good job" if I had reached 100 lb loss so he was very happy with my progress. The wife and I took a cruise week before last and were gone for 9 days total so it was a big adjustment eating away from home and making time to exercise but I did it. Even though I only lost 1 lb during that time, I went to the gym and worked out several days on the cruise and w…

Just had a check up at my dr's office. My hemoglobin A1C was 6.2 and rising which is considered pre-diabetic. I am now proud to say its 5.5 and I am no longer considered pre-diabetic! Best decision I made for improving my health has been getting sleeved!

I have to say, getting my band was undoubtably the best thing I have ever done. In the past 3 years I dropped over 100lbs and have had so many personal achievements along the way that everyday I wake up every morning excited to finally live. Having always been a plus size child and adult, this is the first time in my life that I have been considered of average size, or even just "a little overweight." I am now an athletic girl (still a little curvy by choice) that plays competitive women's racquetball league, enjoys hiking emensely, and overall I am living my life to the fullest, trying everything I wouldn't have if I hadn't lost all the weight. I am happy in my skin and …

OK - so last night was quite a NSV, or maybe more than one. I went to the Toyota Center here in Houston to go see Rammstein (think German punk/industrial). So it started out with me realizing I had nothing to wear - so I went out and boutght a pair of 36 Dickies workpants - after realizing 38 were too loose, and searched my closet one more time and found a military pinstripe steampunk shirt I had made for a guy friend but he never picked it up - fit! So I throw on a red tie and some extras and my steel toes boots and off I go. I stopped at smoothie place I go into regularly (in workout garb or very casual) and they just flipped out - I thought for a bit they were …

I work at a school. We just had a fire drill. It is my job to grab the emergency kit (in a backpack). At the last fire drill I could not pull it over my shoulders. Today I noticed that some people had their backpack on. I thought, why not try? IT FIT! I'm down 50 pounds since December. YAY me! !

Today is my 6 year banding anniversary! I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. It hasn't always been easy. That is something I want to stress to anyone thinking about the lapband. It requires major changes in the way you used to eat. And, if you don't you will be very uncomfortable. That is why I chose the lapband over other weight loss surgeries. The lapband allows you control over what weight you want to end up at. I started my journey at 289 pounds and have been holding at around 185 for about the last 3 years. Do I want to lose more? I don't think so. I am comfortable in my skin for the first time in my life ( and I like my curves now!). With the …

To set the stage, I must tell you that I am over 50. I had my stomach "stapled" way back in the early 1980's. I went from 225 to 125 and maintained for 6 years... then slowly gained it all back over the past 20 years. In 2011, reaching 205 and struggling, I decided to try the sleeve. I went to Mexico in July, 2011 and had it done. I had a bad infection from the drain tube a few weeks after I got home and had to be hospitalized for 10 days. The money I saved going to Mexico was spent recuperating at the hospital. I was glad my insurance covered most of my hospital stay. lol. sigh. Anyway, the first couple of months after the surgery I lost 30 pounds. yay. A c…

We went to Florida recently. My November 2011 Roux N Y wife went on a cruise, I waited for her to get done and looked for a house for our upcoming move there. My brother-in-law raved about the improvement in my wife's appearance. He looked at her before pictures, praised her for her tenacity and bravery, and generally lauded her to the high heavens. I have lost more weight since my Jan. 16, 2012 sleeving but although this was known I got hardly a mention. Am I bitter? Naaa! I am super glad for her and not a bit jealous. She eats the attention up, it just makes me squirmy. She is welcome to it. I feel a bit strange when hugging her. You know the feeling when you…

Ow did you decide your personal weight goal? I started at 5'4 / 219, at 205 now 6 days post op. Did you go by bmi numbers? "Normal" for my height is 117-150. That's a huge range. What Helped your goal setting number? My surgeon just said that I can expect to get down to a normal bmi.

Hey Y'all! I'm a newbie just starting my 90 day 'hoop jumping' and I have a few questions about Aetna. My surgery will be covered at 100% after deductible (YAY for great insurance!!) but my surgeon will only be covered at 70% after deductible. As for the labs, upper GI, phsych eval and physical therapy appointment...will they be covered at 100% b/c the surgery is? Were they covered for you or did you pay out of pocket? I have everything scheduled (upper GI tomorrow, YIKE!) and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to pay out of pocket. I appreciate any insight! Thanks for sharing!

Its been almost eight months since I've been banded. I've lost 34 lbs so, I've been shopping in my closet (ha) for a while. Many of the pants I have not worn in years now fit. I still pick out "baggy" clothes out of habit. I have not bought anything from a store until today. A couple of weeks ago I won a gift certificate to a clothing store ($25) and decided to stop in. I really needed a new shirt. (I have plenty of pants now, ha) Well, the shirt I bought is a size medium....I can hardly even type this. I have not been a medium in over ten years. I love my band! I love my band! I love my band! This is my first weightloss "wow". I wanted to share it with everyone that …

Since I was sleeved 4/3 and have lost 39# so far ..I went way back into my closet..just to try on some clothes that I thought may fit. I realized I have not worn these since my daughter was born 11 years ago!!!!! Thank you my lovely sleeve ..I am feeling better everyday! LoL..I always knew I would get bak into them!
