Looking For Realistic Opinion On Time Off

How bad/tired/weak/sore did you post op-ers feel for the first few weeks. I am planning on only taking two weeks off. Is this a sensible time. I have a desk job with lifting or strenuous physical activity. I may have to use vacation time. Looking for some honest opinions.

  • I had my surgery on a Friday and went back to work the next Monday. I have an active job, no sitting! I was tired when I got home the first few days but it was fine. I also went back to work one week

I had my surgery on April 4th, stayed in the hospital for two days, and I am now back to work on April 9th as a pharmacy tech. Each situation is unique to each individual. Good luck :D

WOW!!! You guys are doing very well! my surg. isnt until May 5. I am an EMT who works 12 hour days, and I took 6 weeks off. I do alot of heavy lifting all day long. I hope I can get back a little sooner!!

I'm a teacher I had my surgery done over Spring Break so I was done for six days before going back to work. I didn't have any issues. I felt fine after three days i even did yard work.

I'm a nurse tho I don't work in a hospital anymore. I do Home Health and spend my days driving from pt to pt doing dressing changes, labs, teaching, etc. It will be 3 weeks for me on Tues and from the way I feel, there is no way I can go back to work soon. I had a fantastic first week and then went downhill from there. I have not had 2 good days in a row yet and never know what the day will bring. Fortunately, I took a month off so hopefully I will feel better by then. Today I am battling constipation and had to take an enema. (sorry if tmi). Yesterday was great until last night when I had the vomits. I know it will get better that's why I keep reading the success stories on this board. This too shall pass.
