3/27 down 42 # incl 13 preop. I have totally lost my appetite. I have to make myself eat. Today I had a couple mouthfuls of oatmeal cooked in milk and 1.5 crab cakes. My hubby baked some rolls for church and I did have 1/2 of a small one. My protein shake is mixed and waiting for me so I will have that and maybe another one before bed . I worked today and one of my patients offered me Sees chocolate, I refused, she insisted and I took a chewy one, took one nibble and did not enjoy it. Preop I would have eaten the entire box. My stomach stays full for a long time whether I eat or drink.

I actually came to this forum today to find out if others had this problem too. I have absolutely no appetite. I force myself to eat but I do t really have the desire. I'm down 42 # including pre op loss of13. Surgery was March 27. I feel good ,ost of the time tho of course I do tire easily. Last week when I went back to work, I lost 6 pounds. My doc says 4lbs per week. This week I have not lost anything yet. So I guess my question is: is this normal not to have an appetite? Sent from my iPad using VST

I'm a nurse tho I don't work in a hospital anymore. I do Home Health and spend my days driving from pt to pt doing dressing changes, labs, teaching, etc. It will be 3 weeks for me on Tues and from the way I feel, there is no way I can go back to work soon. I had a fantastic first week and then went downhill from there. I have not had 2 good days in a row yet and never know what the day will bring. Fortunately, I took a month off so hopefully I will feel better by then. Today I am battling constipation and had to take an enema. (sorry if tmi). Yesterday was great until last night when I had the vomits. I know it will get better that's why I keep reading the success stories on this board. This too shall pass. Sent from my iPad using VST

Sounds like dehydration. Was your heart rate elevated? I'm a nurse and classic sign of dehydration is low bp and high heart rate (100 or more) Sent from my iPad using VST

Here's another site for shake recipes. I'm 11 days post op and strongly identify with the OP. I had a shake that tasted like a Resses cup today. I feel so much better. Many many thanks to the person who led me to this site: Protein and fluids in due to nausea and just being sick and tired of cramed Soups and Protein shakes. Right now I am enjoying a Protein shake that tastes just like a blended Resses cup! It's delicious! At least today I know that I will get most,if not all of my protein in. So here I am today down 18lbs since my sleeve on 3/27 but hungry as all get up! I can't hang any longer with the full liquids. I need some food! Although I liked my Protein drinks, I cannot stomach another sweet drink or creamed Soup. So far today I am sipping on some ganoderma coffee (it's non acidic but alkaline) mixed with 1/2 of a slim fast lo carb vanilla cream shake ...all of 10 g of protein. I just got a delivery of the injury cheese sauce and am contemplating a nice serving of cheese grits and maybe an egg. I will keep you posted as to how it works for me. Sent from my iPad using VST

I was sleeved on Tues. I have been able to get my protein and fluids in and even went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for thirty mon today. I am exhausted though. I can drop off to sleep at any given moment but don't sleep ver long at night due to bathroom every 2 hrs. Also getting my vitamins in is ok. it's time for my lunch and I don't have energy right now to even eat. I know it gets better eventually. Hang in there. Btw, did anyone gain wt in the hospital from the fluids? I came home 9 lbs heavier than when I went in. I've lost 7 lbs so far but am still up 2 lbs

Congrats! I was sleeved on 3/27 too. I'm back home now. Just waking up from a nap. I was exhausted. Now to continue getting my fluids in. Good luck sleeve bud. Sent from my iPad using VST
