Can anyone tell me how do you cope with eating out of bordom? I am fine throughout the day and when I get home the first thing I look for is a snack. Tired of eating sugarfree fruitcups, pudding and yogurt. Any suggestions? :embaressed_smile:

Hello. I am not new here. I want to start by asking you all to please forgive me for signing up for a new account. I have been sick a lot here lately and cannot for the life of me rememeber what my user name was before, but I have this one down and saved so I will not forget it. I'd like to ask a question if I may. I am going through the six month diet right now and am having my surgery in December from what I have been told. I was banded on 5-5-08 and have lost 45 pounds so far. I've droppped from a size 24 to a 18/20. I haven't lost any weight in the last 3 weeks and I'm not sure what the problem is. I haven't changed my eating habits. Any suggestions? I would also like to know how much other banded people eat before feeling full. I sometimes feel that I eat larger portions that normal before feeling full.

My name is Sara and I had my surgery exactly 1 week ago today. Was a breeze but the air in my body needs to leave. my left shoulder has been killing me. I lost about 25lbs pre-op following the programs guidelines and am looking forward to my weigh in on Thursday. My surgeon was Dr. Sloan in Fort Wayne IN. They have a great program. I had to attend meetings 4 weeks before and now 6 weeks afters. It's great to have the support. No sure how this website works. would love to add a weight tracker but not sure how. ANy suggestions. Hello everyone! I am considering getting the Lap band surgery! So is my Husband. We have been doing a lot of research and i think it's fantastic that there is a forum for lap banded ppl! That being said, i have a question that i have been searching the forums for,and still havnt come across an answer.....both me and my hubby are wondering this. What happens to banded people say, 5 or 10 years down the line? Do you keep the band in place forever? Do you take it out? Wont your stomach go back to a normal size if the band is removed? I want to know this. Can someone please answer this for me? Thanks! T.

Hello everyone. This is my first post and I have to tell you how much I appreciate reading all your advice and information. I don't have my surgery date yet, but Dr. Moran in Raleigh will be doing the procedure. My visits to the cardiologist, dietician, mental health person, and endochrinologist will be finished in the next two weeks. I am hopeful for the banding to occur in mid-November. I continue to read up on the procedure and the diet I'll need to follow. I am so ready to start this journey! Again thank you all for being here helping us get through the scary parts! :-)

I was just wondering does anyone know how many cc a realize band holds? I ask my doctor and he told me that the realize band only had one size band and it was 9cc but I was reading on here the other day and someone said they had the realize band and theirs hold 10 or 12cc. I was just wondering.

I'm one of those people that have been thinking about this for a year. I've attended the inservices, have my insurance in line for payment but I just can't make that appointment with the surgeon. I keep thinking that I can do this on my own, but that's not happening. I am a diabetic (type II) I had gestational took insulin now 15 years later I'm back on insulin, Lantus. Hi, my name is Tracy. I had surgeryon 9/16....so I am 3 days post-op. My surgery was preformed by Dr. David Lee (Columbus, IN). So far I am doing well I think. I can not seem to get on a schedule or eating, drinking and getting all of my protein shakes in. At the time of my surgery I weighted 267.5#, I am 5'6", 42 years old. My husband, family and friends have been very supportive! I know many friends who have had the bi-pass surgery they have different dietary requirements and restrictions. I am a little nervous because I am hungry off and on through out the day and I still need to relearn how to "sip". Any comments or recommendations would be great!

Hello all, I had my surgery yesterday, and I'm going good. I didn't have any gas pain at all, the worst pain was in my throat from the breathing tube. I could barely talk until today. All in all it went smoothly for me, and I hope everyone else to come goes as smooth. I'm going to go and try and take a nap, I only sleep for three good hours in the hospital, although I stayed overnight. I will post my experience later, my computer chair is not that comfortable. I have lots of questions. I am still looking into banding vs. gastric bypass. Have the readers of this had the lap band? How has it helped you in your medical issues, i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure and the like? How fast have you lost weight? Have you had any problems with the procedure? I have been overweight since my teen years, and I am now forty with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and severe sleep apnea. My wife had gastric bipass surgery two years ago and lost 110 pounds. I have tried every diet under the sun. I always lose weight, but then put it back on plus some. My doctor's office called today. They are moving my surgery up to next week. (yay for me!) I know that this is a good thing, but they just snatched my last few days of free eating away from me. I am freaking out! I wasn't supposed to start my pre-op diet until Thursday. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been having a free-for-all, but I really liked being able to work my way to that. Good afternoon! I just joined LapBandTalk today, although I've been banded since August 2007. Unfortunately, I have not been as successful as I had originally hoped, and I got very discouraged. To date I have lost just under 40 pounds. One of the nurses that works with my surgeon encouraged me to join this forum for support since I find it difficult to attend the weekly support group meetings that they hold in my area. I am hoping that by becoming a part of this community, I can remember the excitement I once felt about starting a new phase of life, and doing the right thing for my health and well-being. Hi my name is jo, and i'm awaiting my op at the end of oct 08 in brussels. In 1998 I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease and at the time was very poorly, but fortunately I have not had any symptoms since and have not taken any medication for a number of years and feel well. This morning I was reading a leaflet about gastric bands and it specifically stated that anyone with Crohns should not be fiited with a band. Hello all, I found this site and joined now that I am serious looking into getting the band. Little about myself: I am 6'4" 354 lbs at the age of 33. I guess you can say I hide my weight well since I am so tall and some would look at me and say I don't need it. But for the last 5 years I have tried every diet (WW, Atkins, South Beach, went to a NUT, etc.) I had the most success with the South Beach and lost about 12 lbs. in the first phase, but really stalled after that. It appears that this product is no longer available in the U.S.:confused: The Protein Delite mix and the MetRx RTD I found to be the best flavors for my personal taste. Hello My name's Louise and I'm overweight, no very overweight. I have lost weight before, seven stone last year, but it's nearly all back on again. I guess you'd say I'm a professional yo-yo dieter.
