Hey everyone, I got great news from my surgeon. I have lost 32% of my weight and according to their scale 50 pounds in 14 weeks. My BMI is now 43. So exciting. I have never felt so good in my life. The only thing is the NUT told me I could only have 5 g carbs per meal. I want more carbs! Oh well, at least I am losing weight.

I was sleeved on Feb 28, 2012 and I have been doing so well. Today for some unknown reason I at a piece of lunch meat. It scared me so bad. I called the doctor and they asked if I am having pain, I am not. I had my check up and barium swallow yesterday and everything is fine. I am still totally freaking out and I am embarassed. I am posting this because I hope I am not the only one to have messed up. Also I just need reassured that I will most likely be okay as long as I stay on the diet put forth from my doctor.

Hey All, New guy here, I've been reading this sight for a couple days and have tons left to take in, I love the support that everyone offers, it's nice to have that support group at your finger tips any time night or day. I'm 47, 6'1" and weigh 351 pounds, my BMI is 46 so lets just say, I need this bad. I'm tired of feeling like a "fat bloob", not to mention my joints aching all the time and not being able to do the things I used to do. While my journey officially started last week with my first visit to my Surgeon, I actually started looking into this a long time ago. Like most, money has always been a stumbling block for me. Luckily, my wife (RN) has a job with Bon…

Hello fellow LapBanders... It's been a month since I've been banded and I have been doing really well on my post op diet. Everything has stayed down, with the exception of the day after surgery. I'm real nervous about starting on solid foods and also getting my first fill on the 31st of this month. I'm so nervous I'm going to over eat and then get sick. I'm really glad I found this site and look forward to advise. The problem I seem to be facing right now is finding a way to drink enough fluids since we can't drink during meals. I know I'm not drinking the amount of Water I need to be.

My first day home after my surgery and it is a bit more challenging than I thought! I am not hungry at all but I have finally come to understand that I have an addiction to food. The minute my eye caught a piece of soda bread I instantly wanted to gab it. I have my eye on the prize but this is no quick fix, gonna take a lot f willpower and strength.

  9. Like to know how long are you guys off from work, I work in a food factory and my job is central lab tech because it look like some are off a few weeks, I thought I would only be off work a couple of weeks. What do the doctors request for you taking work time spam

  10. Started by racheal218,

I had my surgery last week and had staples removed today. The asked if I've had any problems with acid reflux or heartburn and I haven't but I've read on here were a lot of people do experience it. The nurse then asked if I was taking my prilosec and I had completely forgot, as soon as I got home I took my first dose, an hour later I had the worst case of heartburn and stomach bubble...this is very strange to me. Other than this little issue everything else has been going great and I've lost 22 lbs:)

  11. Started by Pammie,

I am just done with the "flip-n" scale! I am 3 months today post op, I have not lost any weight since week 9! In all reality the scale has only moved 3 times since my surgery date, I have never lost on a weekly basis, I'm down 25 pounds, I'm pretty much feeling as though this is it for my weight loss!

I am no longer living in NYC and not close to my support group or any support group so I am online looking for support groups or people to talk to. Thanks all.

Hi all, my name is Jessica from Knoxville TN. I had my RNY on 1/9/12, so I am nine weeks out. I started my journey in June of 2011 and weighed 205 with horrible diabetes, acid reflex, and high cholesterol. I had lost weight on my preop diet and went into surgery weighing 190. I mainly made the decision for wls to help with the diabetes, all my doctors were telling me I would be dead in 5 years if I didn't do something. Well still have the diabetes, even though it's better controlled, it sucks. I thought being fairly young 28 at time of surgery and not too heavy, I would breeze through recovery. Of course not the case. I was perfectly fine at three weeks out, but then went…

I have been off of work for 9 weeks now, and not sure my body will last for 10 hours on my feet. I feel like as soon as I walk into the building a 200 pound weight is about to go back on my shoulders and I'll be overwhelmed with catching back up. I hate anxiety! Well any thoughts or advice on how to get through would be nice. Ok wish me luck!

Well I'm pretty pissed! I am gaining weight 1 month post op! I'm miserable! I really wasn't measuring my food but I feel hunger! I weigh myself everyday (first issue). I can even eat more than everyone else and I feel fine. This is frustrating knowing I am exercising 3 and 4 days a week to gain 3 damn lbs! I'm getting my protein in and I'm not eating sweets or junk food! I'm only eating healthy foods but my capacity is more! Also, I find it hard to not drink with meals! Thus could be the second issue! Help!!!!! I'm going insane!!!!!

Well i finally had my sleeve done on March 1st, and I'm so grateful to have found this forum since I have very little support and those who support me just don't understand the process, the healing, the emotional strife and just my abrupt end of my relationship with food. Right now I'm stressed out because everything was going wonderful I was losing 2 lbs or so a day for a total of 18lbs 11 days. Than I had a set back with extreme vomiting, they put me in the hospital forced me to drink an immense amour of contrast for a cat scan and came to the conclusion I had a lot of internal swelling. Well I stayed I. The hospital for 3 days on IV only and came home albs heavier. …

  23. Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, and I decided to join since I see really interesting topics and a lot of helpful replies to each one of them. Well, I'm 26 years old and I've been struggling with my weight since my teens. During my college years I lost tons of weight and had a healthy BMI because I used to play sports to a demanding level (4 hours a day), and I followed a strict eating regimen, which in that time was fine since I had time to prepare my meals everyday. I graduated, and as soon as the office life started to take place, the extra pounds kept coming up. So I decided to go back to play sports, but had a nasty injury on my knee that required surge…

My starting weight was 282 lbs and as of Friday 03/09 I have lost 30lbs. It feels great to be close to the 240's =) My ideal weight would be 150lbs not sure how long it will take me to get there but I have faith that following a diet and exercising I shall get there I plan to start exercising next week, well thats depending what my Doctor says this Wednesday. I want to wish everyone good luck! And may we all accomplish our goals.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I was banded almost a year ago (29 Dec 2010). I have been on another forum until now and there doesn't seem to be very many people with bands on there. So I decided to find a new home. Now onto my story. I had been overweight as long as I can remember. More or less dealing with it and coming up with excuses to justify it. I would tell myself, "I'm not that big" "What's a little extra weight". Looking back I can remember I was in a school play in high school and I watched the video and I seriously thought to myself "I can't really be that big." I remember not having a scale that could hold me so I never weighed myself until went off to m…

They said it will help kick my metabolism into gear. Has anyone else been put on ephedrine? How long dig you take it for? Did you have a hard time with side effects?

Hello! I am new to this board. I have a dilemma - I originally started this whole process of wls to do the sleeve. But . . . when I went in last week for my preop, my surgeon kinda suggested RNY, because I have significant GERD/reflux. I am a bit nervous as to what to do. He says he'll still do sleeve if that's what I want, but he will do RNY if I chose. I am 90 lbs overweight, that's what Dr says, he says I'll get better weightloss with RNY. But, I'm nervous about RNY. Any advice? I have to choose by MAR 16, my preop. my surgery is scheduled for MAR 28. HELP, :-)
