Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give a little update for some who might wonder how it is after being sleeved. I recall, not to long ago wondering how I might feel a month or two out. First let me say, I went to Mexico, had surgery with Dr. Kelly. I lost 12lbs preop (if I recall right lol). Since the time I was sleeved I have lost 25 more lbs. I am tickled. I was on liquids for 2 plus weeks and around the 3rd week I started mushies. About 4 weeks I started soft foods. So far this has been a blessing but my sleeve has tolerated EVERYTHING. I have not ate one thing that has bothered it. I must say that I do pretty much stay by the book. I eat protein first alway…

Had my gastric bypass done February 28th. I've lost 25lbs so far. But this week I've only lost 1lb and I don't know why? I'm staying within the 600 calorie a day yet I'm not loosing anything. And this whole week I've been feeling hungry all the time! I know some of it could be related to head hunger but still, there's no reason why I shouldnt be loosing weight and feeling hungry this early on . I'm freaking out thinking that I have already screwed up and stretched out my pouch or something. Any advice would be great!! Thanks!

Hi all, I am scheduled to have my surgery on June 25th. My nutritionist meeting is in a couple of weeks, so I may be jumping the gun, but have any members gone through vertical sleeve surgery with only one kidney? I am concerned about protein. forewarned is forearmed is my motto, so the more I know for my appointment, the happier I will be. Thanks in advance. I'm glad to have found you all.

Recently I had a little fall off..I've lost a total of 50lbs since Dec. 14th which is the day I was sleeved. That is the good thing, well as of the last 2 days I've had sort of a back slide, I stopped working out and I ate crazy, I had a donuts and a few sips of soda, I feel horrible, I ate a twinkie, popcorn with butter , a beef pattie, and 4 cookies. I couldn't stop for some reason, I need to get back into the gym. I think I've been so depressed about the slow weight loss that I trashed myself. BUt yesterday I went to a bike night at a local bar with my husband and saw a girl I used to hang out with who is like 100lbs, and a trainer and she said OMG you look amazing…

Hey Guys... So, Sleevina turned 3 months old today and I'll be 27 for the 10th time on Thursday!!!!! She's a very interesting girl and finicky girl sometimes!!! LOL... but I love her and appreciate how she has helped me change my life... So here's my update... I'm still very emotional and easy irritated most of the time... I hope, well, my friends and family are hoping this is coming to an end!! What I have lost: Lost 35+ pounds 3 sizes (from a 30 to mostly 24s, some 22s) 1 shoes size (bought some cute sandals in a 10, was wearing an 11W) back pain after standing more than 15 minutes a significant limp in my left leg due to a back injury fear of running …

Well, something life changing will happen for me on June 25. I have always had weight issues and, after a spate of horrible events (lived with the thought of kidney cancer for several months, then had a healthy kidney removed; had a particularly nasty breakup; challenged the principal at my first teaching job on advice from union reps and, as a result, had to negotiate a package that involved "quitting" in exchange for a letter of recommendation), I spiraled into a sharp toothed depression. I didn't have the energy to do much of anything, let alone prepare healthy meals. pizza & a pint of ice cream was the daily fare. After a while, I just didn't care. I am now at the…

My personal observations since my journey began.... maybe TMI When I was larger, 54 pds ago, I didn't mind walking nude in front of my bf. Now I have became completely embarassed by all the extra skin forming and want all the lights off. How did I ever allow myself to began this large? Please understand he doesn't have the problem, I do with myself. However, I on a brighter note, sex has become incredible. It was pretty great before I had the surgery but now...WOW... I can move more, better flexibility, etc., etc. It is quite amazing how each of us fare on our journey. For example, I have read several posts on this discussion board were people are eating chips, …

I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Colleen and I am 40 years old (just last week). I have decided that now is the time to make the most of my life and get my weight under control once and for all. I had my first consultation with the surgeon yesterday and I have my psych eval next friday. I know many people i my situation, BMI 51, multiple co-morbidities would choose bypass, but I have decided that the band is the best option for me. Luckily for me, y surgeon is willing to work with me. I know it will not be easy, and it will take time, and I'm ok with that. I am making a lifestyle change, not going on another diet. I have read many of the posts on th…

I'm Ashley (22) and 2 days out from surgery. I've lost 5 pounds since I left yesterday. What unique about my journey is I did it with my mother Lynne, who I've convinced to make an account on here. We did it the same day with the same surgeon. I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around when my first bowel movement should be. I feel gurggling, but is that my empty old belly or what?

Hello Everyone, I had LapBand surgery in February 2006, revision surgery due to a slip in December 2008 and it ended with my band being removed in emergency surgery in February 2010. I couldn't revise to RNY then because my stomach was too inflamed. I went through an array of emotions the entire journey with my lapband and even more so after it was removed. I was relieved then depressed and what a cycle it was. I've tried yet again to diet after I regained confidence enough to try but, just like always in the end I've gained the weight I lost. I did great with my band, losing 80 pounds the first year and even with all the trouble at least I could keep it off. I have to…

Today is my first day home, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. This morning I was in so much pain that I didn't think I could make 60+ grams of protein or 64oz of fluids but before I knew it I had it all down. I just took my last CalCit, and I have one more vitamin to take. It's not easy, I'm in a lot of pain (lots of hiccups), but the liquid percoset certainly helps. My buyers remorse lasted for 2 hours. I'll consider myself lucky. They say it gets better everyday so I wonder how I'll feel tomorrow.

So my surgeons office is usually on point. My last appt was march 15th and I was told my paperwork would be submitted either that Friday latest Monday. Here it is Thursday, and no word so of course I called. The receptionst said they would call me back... That was 4 1/2 hours ago... They are open until 7pm but I'm just so anxious. I am having my sleeve performed by Dr Muhammad feteiha (he's super cool). As I said before I am tentatively scheduled for April 9th. My two week liquid diet is supposed to start Monday... Guess I'll start it just to get a feel and get a head start just in case I am approved!!!

After months of preop clearances ( sleep labs, Endoscopy, X-rays, psych analysis, and 6 weeks of Fat school that's what I called it anyway) I finally have a surgery date. Gonna do the deed on April 4th. Right now I am in the 2nd day of preop diet. This is not fun. Don.t believe I have ever eaten this little food in fifty years. Had an egg substitute omelet this morning, a Protein shake for lunch and a small batch of veggies and some tuna fish for supper. This sucks. The cat just walked by and I am thinking of cat BBQ. Instead I guess I will go indulge in another diet Jello. Surgery will look good after 14 days of this. Claude Allen, Green Cove Springs, Florida

i know this subject has been brought up before, i just don't remember the answer, sorry. I seem to frequently "belch" during the day. I'm just eating a protein bar now, only about 1/2 way through, and I belched. Does anyone else have that feeling? Does this mean i am supposed to stop eating cuz i am tecnically full cuz i belched? thanx kathy

So I was browsing thru eBay for some good prices on protein powder. I came across a site call Pacific Purity. Www.pacificpurity.com I am being sleeved on April 9 and needed to find an unflavored whey protein powder that I can add to my flavored sf drinks. You can get a 1 pound bag for 11.95 and 2 pounds for 16.95. I ordered it today and thought I'd share in case anyone was looking. . They're sooooo expensive and I thought this price was very reasonable. It has 27 grams of protein for 30 g of powder.

I went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago, wasn't sure if my insurance would cover everything. Well apparantly I have great insurance and I was approved right away. I was prepared for a long haul but now I am excited / nervous that it is happening so quick. I will be banded on April 20th and will start my pre-op diet on April 6th (no liquid diet though). I have been hovering the boards for awhile taking in as much info that I can and feel pretty comfortable with whats ahead. And from a previous post- I am already working on my skinny bucket list ...... Lots of things I want to do when I lose this weight. Good luck everyone .....

Ey folks!! Well, it's finally happened. I'm going under the knife. It's been over eight years coming. Finally decided I needs to do something about it, and since I'm still young, now is better than later. About me: I'm 5' 8" and 545 lbs. I work full time and I'm on my feet during 7-8 hours of my shift. Walking or leaning, but rarely sitting. It's wreaked havoc on my knees and back. Turns out I had a thyroid issue and medication has corrected it. Now to lose the weight. I know that most people will say that I should've been skinny by now if I've been looking to lose weight for eight years, but there's a hitch. I'm a performer here in Las Vegas and a lot of what I do …

Hi there... Can't believe the surgery is less than a month away!! I've been so excited for so long, but now I'm starting to get scared. Mostly I'm scared that I'll be a failure at this, just like every other diet I've been on. I know the lap band is "a tool" and that it won't cure me. But that's exactly what scares me. I fear that I'll be one of those people who eats sliding foods, or who does whatever the bad people do to not lose weight... This last month has been such a food nightmare for me. Every meal is a last meal and I feel disgusting and tired and depressed. I'm sure that part of that is how badly I've been eating. You can't eat the way I've been eating and…

Hello everyone! I will be banded sometime at the beginning of April 2012 and am very concerned about having general anesthesia. I would appreciate anyone's input on what to expect before and after surgery regarding general anesthesia. I have asthma and am concerned regarding how the anesthesia can affect my asthma. I am very excited to take this journey and hope to achieve my goal weight. I decided to get banded due to health reasons and I don't think my poor body can handle 210 pds on this 5'3 frame. My goal is 125 but I will be happy if I simply made it to 140 pds. Everyones input and suggestions are always welcome. Thanks everyone and have a blessed day! Georgiana.

Where do I start... I am still in Tijuana at the hotel, i was sleeved monday night. Trish is my coordinator and I don't think there are enough words to express how sweet & caring she is. I went alone so having Trish there with me was a godsend. Dr. Ponce is an excellent doctor with an awesome bedside manner. He doesn't speak english but Trish is there to translate and I had no problems with asking questions. I got a dvd of my surgery and my swallow test/xray. There should be more talk on these boards about Dr. Ponce, most people talk about Aceves, Garcia, & Kelly but I think Dr.Ponce should be right up there. I was nervous of this journey but as soon as i met T…

Hi, I am new here, but I have been reading the site for several months now. I finally have my surgery date. I will be sleeved on April 16. I have my pre-op appointment on March 29 and my EGD scope on April 6. I am so excited that I finally have a date. I have to do one week of the liquid diet before surgery, but I decided to start a semi-liquid diet today to get geared up. I want to give my system a bit of time to make that adjustment after reading some of your stories about this switch. I am hoping that will make it easier on my system. I don't have much in the way of sugar cravings any longer and I really don't do much in the way of eating off track. I just rem…

Hi! My name is Bethany and I am having my sleeve done on Thursday 03/22! I am so excited/nervous!! I currently weigh 263 and my goal is 150. I went last year to a seminar done by another doctor in my area and loved him---but didn't feel like his staff were very helpful. After looking at my insurance I was told that I did not qualify and then they sent me on my way with no further instruction. So after a few months my husband thought I should go to a different doctor that he had heard about so I went on to one of their siminars expecting to be told the same thing about my insurance. D. Penningtons staff were amazing!!! they helped me figure out exactly what I needed to qua…
