Hey Ya'll, I just have a question lol. So I do suffer from anxiety/depression (as some of you know) and typically I am a weed smoker to help me fall asleep. Since my first appointment, I've stopped smoking but I'm having THE WORST time sleeping (I also, for years have dealt with sleeping issues). Has anybody tried CBD? Rather it be gummies or flowers. I'm just nervous about medications because I've always had bad experiences. Trazadone made my migraines worse aaaand ambien made me eat a cheeseburger and mcflurry mid sleep. Any suggestions will be good! I've tried banana tea (to calm me), chamomile tea, melatonin, unisom (i ended up taking close to 5 pills so i quit t…

I have not as yet made a decision to have Gastric Sleeve surgery. I am 73 years old and weigh 273 lbs. I hesitate as I would like to have more information on how, even with multivitamins, Iron and Vit B supplements, the lack of nutrition has affected their general health.

I am two days away from surgery - have not lost much on the pre op liquid diet - probably just flooded haha Our insurance just changed at the beginning of the year , and so that has thrown a wrench in everything - and we are still waiting on an pre auth - I feel like everything is hurry up and wait - and I may have tortured myself for no good reason if they deny surgery I have my post op diet box all set up - cook books ready - chopper on hand - I have an awesome support system - they truly are the only reason I have not imploded by now - This is me just trying to find light at the end of the tunnel and a pattern in the chaos

I have 12 chocolate and 8 vanilla the usual cost would be $51.20 from Optifast ($92 for 36 shakes or $2.56 each). I will sell all 20 for $30 plus shipping. Hello Everyone, Just venting--Right now, it really feels like I have a lot on my plate. I'm extremely emotional and anxious about literally everything. My upcoming graduation, worries about possible pre-op hiccups regarding insurance, work stress, issues with my brother's health....life in general. Normally, I would go eat everything in site, but I know that won't help me and I know that it could set me back & I REFUSE. I'm typically happy, but today I just feel drained & sad. Like as I sit at my desk (currently at work, on lunch) I'm picking at my nailpolish because I'm anxious and my mind is constantly running. I stopped smoking weed per doctors orders, so …

Hey guys! Ok, so I got my surgery on 12/12. I made my 1st appointment on 10/14 and within a week I was scheduled. I am seeing other people are having to go through more steps, including my good friend. He needs a series of visits to get approved for surgery. What is the difference and why such a crazy change in whether you will get approved?

Ok so I went to the nutritionist, and had my surgical consult yesterday. Today I went for my psych evaluation. Everything will now be sent to insurance for approval. The insurance coordinator at the surgeon's office told me yesterday she expects me to be approved, so I am looking at February surgery dates if all goes as it is suppose to. I am getting very nervous. Things have gone very quickly as my insurance company does not require a whole lot. I am about 80 lbs overweight. I have struggled all of my life with weight since I was a child, but kept things under control with diet and exercise until I hit menopause. I know I don't have as much to lose as a lot of people, …

I had my gastric sleeve done on new year's eve 12/31. I haven't felt hunger but i know the half cup of jello that i have consumed in the time since is not sufficient. I have been focused on staying hydrated. Both are hard because im nauseated which causes dry heaving a lot. Im up to 10oz of water in an hour if i take my pain meds and my nausea pills which i can only do every 4hrs. I have one incision(ther one the stomach was pulled from) that's killer. Im trying to stay on top of this but i feel like I'm fighting a lot of battles at once.

I have a history of stomach ulcers (in 2011 and they were resolved). Recently (November 2019) I started having stomach issues again. I had an EGD, Colonoscopy and an MRICP and was diagnosed with GERD, focal peptic duodenitis & gastric erosion (no ulcers). I am considering weight loss surgery and wonder if my current gastric issues will mean that I am not a candidate for the surgery. Anyone have any experience?

Sorry for the long post but Omg what an emotional rollercoaster. So I finished all my pre op work and went to my pcp last week Friday. I was explaining to her that I was finally done with my 6 month nutritionist appointments and that I’m super excited, (I finished all my preop clearances in 1 week) My surgeon saw me the day before and gave me a surgery date of December 17! I thought my pcp would be excited since she was the one who referred me there and I’ve been giving her updates monthly but she gave her an entire 360. She seriously got her boss and after my labs were done, tried to convince me not to get the surgery. They seriously told me anything that can possibly go…

I’m very serious about wanting to pursue weight loss surgery, and I’m about to schedule my consultation appointment. I feel very ready to do this. I’ve read in some places that people with mental health histories have sometimes been disqualified. I have bipolar disorder that is very well managed with medication. I had an alcohol problem in the past, but I’ve been sober for a long time and am committed to never touching alcohol again. Do people like me tend to get disqualified because of our histories? Or does it matter more that things are well managed now? I really want this procedure and will do anything I have to for making sure that I can get it to change my…

Sigh. Never thought I’d post something like this online, but I’m freaking out a bit & need advice! Also this could very much be TMI for many, so if it is, I apologize. I had major complications after my sleeve (4/2018). My new surgeon figured it all out, and I’m being revised to a bypass January 13th. I’m currently on my presurg liquid diet. I have a new boyfriend, and we slept together for the first time tonight. (Yay!) I have the Mirena IUD. It’s >99% effective for preventing pregnancy. This is why I have it. We used a condom the first go, but the 2nd & 3rd tonight... well, we didn’t. I know they’ll do a pregnancy test at the hospital before surgery, and the…

I am 6 days into my 2 week pre-op liquid diet and not doing so well. Up until last night I was getting by and following the diet very closely. Last night I still felt very hungry after my one cup of low sodium tomato soup and proceeded to eat another 4-5 cups. I may have to reschedule my surgery and start the diet over. I will be talking to the nutritionist at my surgeons office tomorrow. The liquid diet has been hard for me...

What are your favorite meals? My dietitian is woefully underinformed about meat replacements, which I find surprising. I'm a vegetarian because I've found through elimination that it helps my autoimmune disorder, and also because I feel good about it! Just looking for some quick, high protein low carb, ideas.

Hi, i am planning for surgery in November. I will only have about 5 sick days i can take with my unpaid FMLA, seeing as i have to be able to lift 30 pounds to return to my job i could be out 2-6 weeks. I am considering Short term disability, my employer has Aflac. How can i get them to paid for the time off and the hospital time? I know it has to be medically necessary but they also say they do not cover "pre existing conditions" which could include obesity. Obviously im not planning on telling the Aflac rep of my surgery intentions.. I just don't want to waste the money out of my pay if they won't cover my time off, I cant afford to be out of work and sadly it will all g…

Hi all, I have been participating in a medically supervised weight loss program for the past 5 months and I've nearly completed all the pre-op requirements to qualify for bariatric surgery. I've been really lucky and have already officially lost about 50 lbs (at my last weigh in a few weeks ago, it's probably closer to 60 now). My BMI is now probably 31ish. I have adhered to their guidance fastidiously and have made major changes to how and what I eat. I've learned a lot from these boards and I'm leaning towards going the surgery route. Far and away, my primary concern is my ability to be physically active short- and long-term after the surgery. Exercise is extr…

Saying “hello” to everyone here, and “Happy New Year”. I see my surgeon on January 9, 2020, and we will determine my surgery date. It has taken me more than 2 years to get to this place and I am excited but also feeling a bit anxious. I started worrying last week that I would never be able to truly enjoy any kind of normal food after this, and it would all be chicken breast and steamed veggies. I actually cannot even type that without cringing a bit. Did anyone else who is now well into the gastric bypass journey (or other method) feel this at the pre-op stage? I am active and love cooking, but have always eaten too much my whole life. I do enjoy healthy foods like…

I need advice please. I’m going through the process with Rex Bariatric in Raleigh. I’m being railroaded into getting a colonoscopy I don’t need by a practice that’s charging too much for it (hundreds of dollars more than other providers within my network). I had low iron results and somehow the next damn step is a colonoscopy? I asked if I could get this done someone place else and they said no. I’m going through this alone and don’t have anyone to fight for/with me. I want to explore getting the bypass done overseas. This colonoscopy is going to delay things by several weeks and, even if it comes back negative, they told me they’re going to run a other test. …

So I'm noticing (and I haven't had a period in like... three years, so I doubt/don't know if that may be the cause of it) that I'm experiencing a lot of really hard emotions right now. I've been getting angry at everything and crying at the drop of a hat. Has anyone else dealt with this? I've got like... six days left before surgery. I'm not nervous about it (not that I'm aware of), but somethings gotta be going on, right?

Hi everyone. I'm Gami from Michigan I and stressing out about the test for nicotine. I was a almost 1 pack a day smoker and quit on 12/9. I got some of the home tests online but still have not passed it. They pushed me back another month cause I gained some weight in November so at my appointment on 12/17 I lost 11lbs which was cool but I am feeling like I am never going to pass this urine test. [emoji24] I have done 2 urine tests and they came back positive. The RN said they would test me again next Monday 1/6 which I will be like 28 days smoke free. I am very happy about that but still very frustrated. Any words of advice. Please and thank you. 2020 is going to be my ti…
