Has anyone taken phentermine pre op or even post op? I've just started this journey and I'm on phentermine 15ml (30ml cut in half). I was told I could stay on it, since my surgery will be in 6mo+ and I can only be on this rx for like another 3month safely. Has anyone taken it post op?

Ive been a member for a few months reading the board. Its been a hell of a time almost 2 year to get this approval. I schedule the surgery tomorrow and am targeting August 24th to have it done because my mother in law will be back from vacation to help. I have a couple quick questions, I have an appointment with my Endo on Tuesday and last time she told me she would not OK me for surgery unless my a1c was under 8. It was about 9.8 six weeks back. I went to do the bloodwork at the lab yesterday but dont know the results yet. Im scared she will deny me getting the surgery. 1) what was yall a1c before surgery? 2) What tips do yall recommend to get a1c do…

7:30am EST it's showtime. Dropped 20lbs during this hellish liquid diet and I'm sitting at 298 right now. I wanna get down to 220 or lower which sounds right since I'm 6'3! To everyone that's gone before me I hope you all show me the right path because I plan on helping those who come after me. Pretty pumped up right now just wanted to post so I can update you all in the following days! Wish me luck.

I am going to my final doctor in this pre-surgery process tomorrow afternoon. What can I expect when I go to visit him. I have no heart disease in my family or ever had an issue. (Knock on wood)!!!! You think they will suggest a nuclear stress test or should I be ok to just do an ekg and maybe a normal stress test? I am nervous I am so close to ending these doctors being that tomorrow is the last of my process. I just want everything to work out so I can have this surgery!!!

I have officially started my vsg journey! Anyone else at this stage? And a couple other questions how is your support system? How is your significant other handling it? I ask because mine says he's supportive but has concerns about after surgery...like if I lose a bunch of weight I will leave him if I start getting attention from other people. Hi all, After after 7 months, and 1 lap bad removal, I have my sleeve date! AUGUST 30th, 2017. Are any of you sleepers in August? Where are you in the process? Are you nervous? Who's your doctor? What facility are you having your surgery at? Is your insurance paying for it or are you self-pay? I am not gonna lie, after coming to in the ER after my lap band removal last month, I am a little nervous. I am healing very well, although I managed to pull my side oblique muscles on the right by falling out of bed (more like sliding), I am amazed at how much more painful the band removal was in comparison to having it put in in July of 2005. I had nothing by misery during…

I have my surgery date for Aug 9. July 24 I have lab work drawn, Drs. Pre-op visit, and pre-op class. I'm committed and excited. I will also schedule a PICC line placement in radiology on the 8th prior to surgery due to 1/2 of my lymph nodes removed on the left side 6/2010 due to metastatic breast cancer. 7 years clear of cancer! Time for a slimmer more active life. Fibromyalgia pain easing up.

I live in Houston and will be getting sleeved next Wednesday 7/19 in New Orleans. I have a flight back to Houston on July 31st, should I be able to lift a small carry on bag by then? I'm staying with my mom to recover for the first week or so and I don't have any clothes at her house and don't want to leave anything there. It's small enough to go under the seat so I don't have to lift it but my mom is terrified that carrying anything heavier than my purse will hurt me.

Hi. I just found this app today. I went to a seminar April 4th and saw surgeons assist on April 10th. I have seen a nutritionist 3 times now and saw the surgeons assist again on July 10th. I had lost 12 lbs since April 10th and was told I could join the program! I am so excited! Now I start all the testing. I have endoscopy and colonoscopy August 31. Goal is to have surgery in October. I have fought weight issues my entire life and that has caused other health issues. Having this surgery will help me in so many ways. And my support person, my husband, supports me 100%. Looking forward to this journey, feeling good again, feeling good about myself again, being healthy, and…

Does anyone have Harvard Pilgrim insurance? The only prereq that I am concerned about is the documentation of previous attempts to lose weight which may include Weight Watchers, Atkins, etc. I have done Weight Watchers online, I have done low carb off and on for years without any real success. My dietician, at my first appointment, made no mention of any concern about this and the program director told me not to worry, that is what the dietician was for. To compose that letter. I should also mention that my insurance does not require a set amount of nut visits. So, of course I am concerned. Thanks in advance!

So these are my last tests before my final appointment with my surgeon. That appointment will be a long one of to set my surgery date, get instruction for liver reduction diet, which they already have done and a one on one with the nutritionist. The endoscopy and colonoscopy prep goes on for a few days with the day before and day of a nightmare, at least it was for me. Clear liquids only day before, 24 hours of nonstop uncontrollable diarrhea. My gastroenterologist took a biopsy of my stomach gastritis, 6 polyps from my colon. All sent for pathology. So I guess it was really worth it to follow through with the whole thing. NOW I need to know if gastritis will exclude me f…

I'm living in Dublin, Ireland and bariatric surgery is not very common here so people think it's weird or a cheat way to lose weight so in summary not everyone is on the same page as me. I'm pretty scared about the next two weeks I'm just wondering does anyone have any tips or hacks to make this pre-op phase as user friendly as possible. My surgeon guidelines are just follow low fat diet. I'm living for the 27th of July so I want to make the most of it. My brother is in the US with his job and he's buying me some bariatric vitamins. Does anyone have any opinions on bariatric vitamins? Thanks in advance for any tips or advice Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobil…

Hey everyone! I'm hoping to receive my actual surgery date sometime next week but my surgeon says it should be in mid August. Being that I'm still in the pre-op phase, I've been wondering about vitamins for hair. I've watched so many YouTube videos on people that experienced hair loss as a side effect. Even though this doesn't happen for everyone, I would like to be proactive. Does anyone have suggestions for a good brand of hair vitamins to start beforehand JUST IN CASE??

Hello! I'm new here, please be nice! I'm excited to be having WLS and looking forward to having a more active, healthy lifestyle. I would love my partner to join me on this journey. I'm afraid if she doesn't, her health and self esteem will suffer, and that her habits will sabotage my efforts. My partner HATES anything medical, having suffered some medical-related trauma in the past. How can I encourage her to think about WLS, without telling her how to live her life?

Today I found out, after 6 months of appointments and prepping, my file has been sent to insurance for approval and I have a tentative surgery date! August 7th will be the first day of the rest of my new life. I'm so beyond ready, but so beyond scared at the same time. It took me a long time to make this decision. I tried everything. My brother was able to lose over 100 lbs with diet and exercise. I'm not made like that. Coming to this decision made me feel like a failure, like I was taking the easy way out. But after all these appointments and discussions I've come to realize this will be much more difficult than diet and exercise. I don't want to end up like my mom who…

I'm getting prepared for my surgery on Feb 21st - I haven't exactly been shy avout telling frienda/coworkers about what I'm doing. But i AM shocked at how many say I don't need this... i don't think they understand that being 4'11" and 205 lbs is NOT fine. It doesn't matter, because this is for ME, not them; but just wondering how many other P.S's there are that may have heard this?? [i hide it VERY well....lol] nomorefluff

Hi everyone I have been lurking for the last couple of months and have finally decided to post. Sorry its a little long I started my journey in March and at that time my boyfriend and I were just approaching our 9 month anniversary and just starting to think about " future plans" . At the time I wasn't sure if I would actually go through with the decision to have WLS and even if I did, If i would even be approved so I choose not to tell him about what was happening. Fast forward and I just finished month #5 of nutrition counseling and I have my final doctors appt in August and then we submit everything for approval and schedule surgery. In the meantime my bo…

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I really want the Sleeve but I have heard that people with acid issues should not get it. Has anyone experienced worsening acid issues with the Sleeve? I don't take acid pills but I probably go through a thing of Tums in 2-3 weeks or so. I take maybe 1-3 Tums a day, sometimes more if it's really bad. I've done tons of research on the sleeve but have no idea what to expect with the Bypass... Will I have issues with vitamin deficiencies??? Will the acid be better? Should I chance it and go with the sleeve anyways??? I like that the sleeve takes care of the hunger hormone, so how does the bypass work???

Frustrated right now because I have done all the requirements and been approved by my insurance but have not been given a date for surgery yet. My surgeon office has me doing additional requirements before they schedule me. They have me seeing a pulmonologist because I use to smoke, he want me to do a sleep study because I snore. I did a breathing test and chest x-ray both were clear. I was hoping to have surgery this month but it does look like thats going to happen. Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Just completed my 6 months worth of medically supervised weight loss and for my surgery scheduled! I'll be having my sleeve done July 25th [emoji173] I've never been so excited! Although I've only lost 30 lbs in the 6 months leading up to surgery I feel so prepared. Is anyone else having surgery around that time? Hello everyone. I had surgery scheduled for July 25th but due to my weight gain(yeah yeah, I know spare me the lecture please !) the surgeon does not feel comfortable going forward with the original date. So yeah, I know this is for safety reasons---I have to shrink my liver but still am disappointed. I know surgery is not the end all be all--I'm currently seeing a therapist regarding my food issues and emotional eating patterns. I guess this just makes me feel like a failure, like I went through all the pre op visits and now I am set back. Better safe though , I am trying to see the bright side of things. Thanks for the vent session.

Hi lovelies! I'm new here and looking into the VSG. I started the process a few years ago but I was having such success with the weight loss that they wanted me to lose, I decided to keep going, kinda like a last ditch effort. I did great, but as history repeats itself I gained it all back! Boo! The facility where I started, I chose based on proximity and a few friends had success there. Is that enough to go on? I don't want to make a bad decision. I never got far enough in the process to meet the actual surgeon. I'm wondering what tools I can use to make sure I'm choosing the right man/woman for the job! I've looked for bariatric centers of excellence and there's a numbe…

My surgeon only requires a 3 day clear liquid diet but I've decided to do the 2 week full and then switch over to clear for the 3 days before surgery. I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet and man oh man these headaches are the worst! It's not even that I'm hungry really just not feeling myself, tired, and trying to deal with this intense headache. Anyone have any suggestions? This is going to be a long two weeks Lol Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I've recently just heard about the sleeve at work from co-workers being this is the new thing that everyone is doing because our insurance approves it sooo fast and people are looking into weight loss options. I've been on this page days now just looking around and researching. Although a lot of my questions were answered, I still have a few. Is there an age limit that you shouldn't get sleeved? Has anyone had it more than 10 years and can tell about their experience? I'm really considering being that I've gained so much weight and don't see myself losing because I eat alot!!! Im 5"7 and weigh about 260!!!!!
