Hello everybody. I had a mini gastric bypass probably 20 years ago. I think I lost 50 pounds to 60 pounds over the course of a year. However, I started to regain weight and my diabetes returned for no real reason. However, I’ve been on Ozempic for my diabetes and I have lost significant weight. Probably 50 pounds I weigh 190. originally 270. 230 when I started Ozempic Does anybody else have similar Results if they are on a semaglutide and bypass surgery?

Hi everyone - I love to follow people for inspiration on youtube & IG, but I'm having a hard time finding accounts that talk specifically about ESG (as opposed to VSG). Do you have any recommendations on who to follow for updates, inspo, life with ESG, etc? (specifically youtube and instagram is what I'm looking for)

Hi all! I got ESG in New York City 2.5 days ago. So far, so good. I stopped taking pain and nausea meds the day after the procedure. My worst symptom by far is my trapped gas (and sore throat but it isn’t severe, just noticeable). My doc recommended Mylanta for the trapped gas; I’m still waiting to see if it will be helpful. I had a natural bowel movement today as well, so my body seems to be responding quite well to the procedure. I transition to puréed foods on 5/20, but as of now no feelings of hunger have kicked in yet. For context, I’m 34 years old. SW at ESG was 218.6; 2.5 days later CW (at follow up appt) was 211.8. I’m so excited about what my future holds post-ES…

Hi there, I am new to the forum and I have been considering getting a bariatric procedure. I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. I have tried everything I can to lose weight, but I seem to just keep getting bigger. The vanity of it is one thing, but now my bloodwork is showing me some scary realizations about myself. High cholesterol, very high triglycerides, slightly high readings on the liver enzymes (I think that's what it is, but I am not 100% sure what it means other than it's high), and my fertility hormones are all out of whack. I don't want to be this way anymore, but everything I try, I just can't succeed at because I am so hungry a…

Did anyone else feel hungrier once they made it to the soft foods phase? I barely ate anything on liquids and puree. I'm thinking it was a mix of being so soon out from the surgery and also just being uninspired by the lack of what I was able to eat. Now that I'm on soft foods, I feel like I'm hungrier and I actually like the food I get to eat now because I have a lot more choices. I'm sticking to all the prescribed amounts, but I have an underlying fear that I'm eating too much or too frequently and I'm going to stretch the pouch. Has anyone been told what it feels like when the pouch stretches? Is this something that you are able to feel? I've never felt nause…

Okay so I have been told meat holds a lot of protein and thats cool.......... if it stayed down my surgery was 03/12/21 and everything went great Im doing great but when it comes to eating meat its a NO for me only meat that tends to do alright is turkey sandwich meat and ribeye steak cooked right! Fruits and veggies does great especially when its soft but why do I spit up after I eat? I'm getting tired of it, I gotta keep spit bottles with me or plastic cups in my purse[emoji17] its disgusting [emoji1785][emoji2961] do anyone have this issue or is this normal or what I'm doing wrong?

I had ESG on 9/25/2020. I'm just over 6 weeks. I lost 10 pounds the first two weeks (I was very ill the first two weeks), but only 10 in the next four weeks. So, 20 pounds in 6 weeks. I expected to lose the weight faster than I am. Were my expectations unrealistic. My starting weight was 205, BMI 31 or 33. I'm 5'5".

I had my endoscopic sleeve on 5/25. The only pain I felt was the day of and day after surgery. I felt literally no pain the next two weeks on liquids. I was switched to purée after the 2 weeks and my stomach has pain. It’s mostly when I move in certain ways but it was a little scary since I had felt great the first 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced this? I went back to liquids just in case my body was in shock from the switch to more solid foods but it hasn’t changed. Thoughts/advice? I’m new to the forum as well, it’s nice to “meet” you all and have a community of those going through the same thing.

I have a consultation schedule with Dr. Blosser on Monday. I have done a lot of research and watched reviews on YouTube. Has anyone had this procedure done with Dr. Blosser in Reston, Virginia? Anyone that has had ESG, do you regret it? Are you happy with your current results? What questions should I ask during my consultation?

I'm now almost 2 months out from the ESG, and the scale has jumped up to 240 and refused to move after going so far as 225. I really think I'm supposed to be between 220 and 230, probably closer to 220. I've been losing inches. I've kept very meticulous track of my food and eat around 1000 calories a day still. This has to be a water thing, but am I really carrying 15-20 pounds of water weight? Can I flush this out somehow? I want a more accurate reading and also would like my weight to decrease for some activities that require a lower weight: horseback riding, kayaking, etc.

I figured I'd dip a toe in here because this is really the only ESG community I've seen. Hi, everyone. I'm a week out from ESG on March 23. I got it at Brigham and Women's. The surgical team was all very kind and good to me. I started at 5'4" and around 250 lbs, though I am not tracking weight, I'm tracking stuff like appearance and clothing size (because weight will screw up my brain really bad). Doctors can measure weight on their own and do that stuff. I feel like my recovery to basic life took ages. The internet and doctors said 1-3 days, and it took me 6 days to not be so exhausted and nauseous and cramped and dizzy that I could stay awake and focused for more t…

So my surgery was on the 17th of March, first couple of days was rough as far as me I can not tolerate pain at all especially when it comes to my stomach and head. So the second night after surgery ( for those thats about to get it or thinking about please keep in mind EVERYONE BODY IS DIFFERENT EVERYONE PROCEDURE IS DIFFERENT AND EVERYONE PAIN LEVEL IS DIFFERENT) I was in the worst mood ever and the worst pain ever they kept wanted me to walk and drink water in which I couldn't do either, I thought I had made the worst decision in my life!!!! So once they seen I wasn't doing to well I received meds for pain and nausea and I was OUT! for that night. The next day my nurse …

Hi all, I am evaluating the pros and cons of endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty vs. laproscopic sleeve gastroectomy. This will be my first and hopefully last weight loss procedure. I am currently 5 ft, 2 inches and weigh 212 with a BMI of 39. While I prefer the least invasive procedure possible, my goal is long term success and good health. Have any of you considered both procedures? Which one did you choose and why? Any advice or thoughts to consider? Thanks in advance for your help!

I had my ESG in mid August and proceeded thru all the diet phases with no problems. I now can eat "anything" altho I am only supposed to eat 3 oz per meal - 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. At first I was fine with the small amounts, but as I healed I felt hungrier and started moving my meal sizes up. I am not gorging by any means but I typically eat 4-6 oz per meal. Usually 900-1100 calories per day. This lets me have a few oz of veg along with my few oz of protein. My question is really about feeling hungry. I was told the ESG would greatly reduce hunger and cravings, unfortunately I am not feeling that. I wasn't hungry the first month or so, but its been a problem since. …

Hi All -- I have been looking into lower impact WLS and after consulting with a doctor, I think that the Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty would be the best choice for me. However, my insurance does not cover the procedure and of course cost is a concern. I know that bariatric surgery is a big component of medical tourism, so I'm wondering if there are any clinics outside the US that offer it at a lower cost than stateside? I would prefer Mexico but would consider India or other such options. Thanks.

Hi everyone! New to the forum! I just got an ESG procedure done in Virginia (so far so good if looking for a recommendation!) So I'm currently 4 days post op. I haven't felt the urge to eat/drink/ anything which I know is just as bad as eating the wrong thing so I was wondering if anyone has some recipes or tips to get through the liquid phase. Never thought I'd crave scrambled eggs haha Thanks!

I am starting my journey soon, and I am wondering about how long it takes to get thru everything and to ur surgery date. I have been told I have to do classes, meet nutritionist, meet surgeon, have and egd, do 30 day liquid diet, and meet with counselor. This all sounds like its going to be like a 6 month time frame. What r others experience with this??

Hi all. I plan to have a ESG less invasive than the MGB. Based on my readings it seems that the diet with ESG is more open. I mean also if the doses will be smaller they are no lack of vitamine as the food pass normally through the bowel. Could someone confirm that? And after how many days or week can I strart to eat normal food. Thanks

Good morning all and Happy Thanksgiving ?! I am seriously considering having my esg procedure done with Dr. Sadek in NJ. I have only spoken to one other person who has done this particular procedure with him. His office has told me that he has performed over 200 esg procedures. So I would greatly appreciate if someone in this forum would tell me what he is like as a surgeon. The one thing I have discovered for sure while researching this is that the quality of your surgeon is extremely important to your success. If his office is telling the truth, then there should be a decent number of you out there who can please chime in. I thank you in advance.

My ESG is scheduled for tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous. I’ve looked into WLS for years but could never get past the surgery and recovery considerations because I never wanted anyone to know. Plus, I couldn’t come to grips with losing parts of my stomach with some of the surgeries. Then I heard about ESG. I worked up the courage to tell my husband, fully prepared to get the criticism and push back. Surprisingly, he was supportive. There is a man that works for him that had WLS and has lost 84 lbs so far. I’m sure that influenced him. He is tall and never gains weight, so he has never understood before. Just stop eating has always been his advice. Anyway, since he was on bo…

Need some support/advice please. Had VSG on January 7, 2019. I’m 63 years and I’ve lost 33 pounds. I know it isn’t going to come off as quickly as those that are younger but it’s a struggle every day, as I’m sure many of you feel. Feels like I plateau for 2-3 weeks and then have a week where I lose 2 - 3 pounds. My question, concern is that I’m finding I don’t take little bites anymore, I’m devouring food and then I DELIBERATELY make myself throw up! This only happens at dinner time but I’m finding I’m doing it every day. Any support you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Good evening all! I was thinking that we should start a thread on this forum where we post an update on our progress, challenges, frustrations, or just a place for us to unload about anything we want to while on this unique journey. There aren’t many esg people out there compared to the other WLS so I thought that this particular thread could help us bond together. To be honest I feel so close to so many of you that I really want to keep that relationship for as long as possible. So even if you are preop I want us each to post an update on how their week has progressed. Please write whatever you felt was important about your week pre or post esg. It could be a that you’ve…

I love rice; but making this CAULIFLOWER RICE has helped psych out my brain! I almost feel guilty eating it. I buy the frozen packs of it, already riced. Directions: Saute' chopped sweet mini peppers, scallions [including green tips], onions...[mushrooms, too, are good]. Add some blackening seasoning I make (without salt). Once that's ~ browned/softened a bit, remove from the pan. Then put the thawed c-rice in the same pan (some water and all). Let it simmer down to cook, and to absorb some of the water. Add in veggies; stir. I add a little bit of garlic salt, and sometimes add thai chili sauce [or other sauce] for color and a bit of 'heat.' Eat with your meat…

Just wondering, I am at almost a year post surgery and I have been at a stall for months now. Has anyone not exercised much and still lost weight? Looking for menu ideas for day to day. I know I need to cut down on my carbs especially bread :-( I still cant eat much at one sitting and I do eat 4-5 times a day from yogurt to protein bars to protein filled meals. Do you eat red meat or did you make the switch to turkey and chicken only? I want to break this stall. I cant do protein drinks mainly because I got burnt out on them from pre surgery and post surgery. The banana one is the only one I can get down these days. I cant do the gym, I am looking into str…
