Hi Everyone! I am new on here and am going to get the ESG surgery. I actually had it scheduled for Monday ( 22nd) but cancelled due to worrying about it. Has anyone on here actually had this surgery? If so did you lose weight? How much weight can you lose with it? What is the realistic expectations I should have? I need to lose about 65 to 70 pounds to be back to my normal weight of 160. I would really appreciate any info on this procedure. Thanks Shelia

I am currently 16 days post gastric sleeve surgery and I’m actually finding myself eating soft foods- I’ve had tilapia, pears, a pickle....I haven’t had any trouble and my doctor says I can start eating soft foods. But I see other people doing the purée diet which I pretty much did for a few days.... I’m worried that this is going to hinder my weight loss. Has anyone else 2 weeks out been starting soft food? Should I be worried?

I totally get fat brain ! I don't see or feel a difference and I'm down 31 pounds. I'm stunned when I got into something I KNOW IS TOO SMALL! Every day I say goodbye to the weight! When I'm dressing or showering, putting on socks or brushing my hair... I say a little goodbye ... Goodbye double/triple chin Goodbye dimpled thigh So long overhanging belly arrivederci bra fat Aurevoir cankles Move on down the road slappy arms... You've served me and I am done with you.... Good bye! I also find it funny how many people comment on my hair... "New color? Looks good!" "New cut? Love it!" "Wow, what have you done with your hair?" Nope, Nope, Nope! Nothing Nothing Nothing…

Hi All: Has anyone had this procedure at Johns Hopkins? If so, what are you thoughts? I've been wavering a lot on having it done but feel ready to make it happen!

The procedure went well but my recovery was awful. Vomiting every couple of hours the first 24 hours and then every 5 to 6 hours the next 24. Some severe cramping so hard to get comfortable and rest. No vomiting since I woke up today - hopefully the worst is over. My procedure was done at John Hopkins.

Hello out there to the endosleevers or future endosleevers. I’ve finally taken my first step to getting this procedure done. I am scheduled for a consult on Dec. 7 with the only NJ doctor who performs this procedure, Dr. Sadek. I’ve read reviews about him and most have given him a good review. His office has told me he has done over 200 endosleeves. (However, the girls who scheduled me did not sound like they were 100% sure) I actually messaged a woman who had the esg done with him and she was very pleased with the procedure but lukewarm about him as a surgeon. Nevertheless, he is the closest surgeon to me and even he is one hour and a half drive. It’s finally starting t…

Hi. I have been researching bariatric procedures for weight loss for a few years. I'm 45 year old woman whose weight fluctuates between 170-190 lbs. I have met with a couple of bariatric surgeons to explore the balloon and lap band. I'm not impressed with the balloon, and the complications associated with the lap band scares me. The ESG seems like a good fit for me, however, there are no long term studies to prove it's effectiveness and safety. My body over produces scar tissue, so that is my biggest concern with any surgical procedure. I have been struggling with an autoimmune disease which is exacerbated by my weight and poor food choices. I need to lose weight and I'…

Well my procedure date is Tuesday, really looking forward to it! I have done all the prep, on liquid diet now, have all the meds and protein drinks for after. Thanks to all who have been willing to share their experience. Your openness about the procedure, what is needed to be successful afterwards and lack of complications played a big part in my deciding to proceed. I am looking to lose about 90 pounds and get back to a weight I haven't seen since college. My wife is supportive and that's such a blessing, thank you god, she's more than I deserve! My procedure will occur in Houston at Memorial Hermann Surgical Center, if anyone wants more info about Dr. Todd Wilson…

Hello ladies and gents! I am scheduled for my consultation December 5th. And hopefully I can get my procedure done around the 1st of January. 39 male 5'9 310lbs. Excited and scared at the same time. I guess my only real fear is not physical getting approved. The two primary reasons are acid reflux and heart palpitations. From everyone's past experiences and consultations, was either of these things a concern with the doctor? I have read nearly every thread on here and what I read was why I chose to move forward with this. If I'm able to have the procedure then I to will document my experience to try and help people the way y'all (from Tx) have helped me.

Hi everyone, I have my procedure scheduled for November 8 - one week away. I'm nervous and excited and hopeful after reading so many of these postings from people who have had ESG. I'm wondering how people are dealing with emotional eating- I know stress can be a trigger for me. Amy

  12. I'm getting really excited AND really nervous...any recommendations for me as I fast approach my procedure? I've been very careful about my diet this last week and have lost 3 lbs. I'm feeling very motivated and determined but still nervous. The day prior to my procedure I have to be in a clear liquid diet, was this what everyone else had to do as well? Then day of no food or water whatsoever. Wish me luck and any wise words would be welcome. [emoji175]

  13. Hi! I’m 5’7 1/2” 226 BMI of 35. I’m one month pre op yet. Very interesting reading all of these forums! Some true inspiration stories here and weight loss time track envy! I’m praying to lose my hunger & extra pounds as quickly & steadily as possibly safe. I’ve got little support in my family And it’s more like everyone is waiting to see me fail & prove them all right since I tried the obera balloon last fall & failed MISERABLY Then proceeded to gain over 25 pounds in the last year. I’m a retired police officer of 20 years and have ALWAYS been strong & in shape & proud of my mother of 3 body. Not anymore. I don’t even recognize myself. Scheduled fo…

  15. I've recently scheduled a consultation to discuss this procedure and possibly have it done. Basically since it's non-surgical, the Nurse said that there's no pre-op things that need to be done. Basically at my consultation I can schedule surgery right away. I'm unable to find very much info online regarding this procedure. I've watched YouTube videos and have seen info on the news about it, but want to speak to a live person that has had this done. Any information will be helpful! Thanks! Kiki

Hello, I'm now 3 weeks post endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, and I'm starting to have some second thoughts about having done it. I'm still having a lot of stomach pain/cramping and have not been able to transition from a liquid to a soft diet very easily. Still mostly all liquid. I have no follow-up with the GI Dr. who did the procedure. I never even had a consultation prior! And I just got the final bill from the hospital - all told I'm out $20,000 for this "basic" non invasive, 45 minute outpatient procedure. Ugh. I wanted a way to re tighten my previous sleeve gastrectomy done in 2012. But the constant gastric discomfort is really troublesome. Not to mention …

Wondering if any esg patients can tell me what restriction should feel like when starting purée diet? I had a weetbix and milk and later a scrambled egg today be really didn't feel restricted or "full" at any time? Is this normal? I have been compliant with fluids only for 2.5 weeks with no vomiting so assume I have not stretched anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated ?

Hi, I'm a 51 year old male, 6'2" and 305 lbs (BMI 39), living in the Houston area who like many has struggled with managing my weight ever since college. My weight began to yo-yo in my 30's and has fluctuated by 30 -50 pounds per year since then. Initially I could lose 20-30 pounds just by getting more active, cycling and some gym work. As I got into my late 30's I needed some caloric restriction and a much more active gym regimen. Also from my late 30's I began a gradual increase in my weight, adding about 25 pounds every 5 years. In my early 40's I added things like CrossFit and severe caloric restriction, even with months of this I could only get down to a we…

I have 9 days until my ESG. I'm wanting to make sure that I'm well prepared for all of this. I already have: 2 and 4 oz containers w/ lids for sf/ff Jello, protein powder and fresh/frozen fruit for smoothies, unsweetened applesauce, a few jars of baby food, a daily log food journal (ordered on Amazon), my calorie fat and carb counter, several different kinds of sf/ff flavored water - some with extra B vitamins for energy and some with electrolytes to keep me hydrated. Plenty of coffee and teas to replace my Diet Coke [emoji26] I'm picking up my meds in a few days. I know that I still need to pick up some more broth and ff milk next weekend. I have logs printed to che…
