  3. I'm interested to hear from people who have changed up their date nights/get-togethers with pals/whatever away from food-based socializing: what do you do to hang out, now? I'm a boring person, and so is my spouse--or, to be kinder to both of us, he's a homebody, and I've been in enough pain, the past few years, that I've leaned that way, too. We used to enjoy ordering pizza (or sometimes healthier things) and watching Netflix to wind down from the week on Friday nights. I really looked forward to it! Obviously, that tradition has got to change. It's a silly thing for me to latch on to, but I find myself really, really sad about letting it go.* So I really want to ha…

What is some good music to get excited why waiting for surgery? Inspirational? motivating? etc. I found this song today from the album coming out October 5th by For King and Country called Burn The Ships. The song Burn The Ships- the lyrics really hit home. Here is the lyric that hit me. The albuim is based upon sailers who were so comfortable in their boats and didn't explore- that when on land for awhile, the captain ordered them on to shore and said "BURN THE SHIPS" taking away the comfort zone and forcing new exploration. I think some of use getting WL surgery have often times either been afraid of trying new things for our health, or g…

  5. I’m considering leaving behind my long standing Fitbit tradition in favor of an Apple Watch. I tried the Fitbit versa but had to return it after it kept glitching and malfunctioning, even after I got a replacement. I’ve been wanting an Apple Watch for a long time and am leaning toward going for it, and I’d love to hear from others who have one! Do you have an Apple Watch? Are you glad you purchased it? What are your favorite features/functions? Are there ways it helps you with your WLS process? Is it worth springing for the GPS+cellular option, or is the more basic one enough?

A coach on my staff had his 40th birthday party at a Vegas (never been) style pool. This was the first adult pool party I have ever been invited to. NO way I would have done this prior to WLS. I had a blast and felt normal with my body. Trying to blonde out my graying hair may have been a mistake (mid life crisis) but still had a lot of fun. Even enjoyed a few Shiners. Just kept track of my calories to not over do it. This was back in July. Have lost another 8-9 lbs from this picture. Never thought this would be possible. You can do this too! Hang in there.

Thought it might be fun to share photos of our hounds and see what pets people have. We have a bit of a greyhound obsession. Adopted our first one about 6-7 years ago and been hooked ever since. These are a couple of our hooligans (yes there's more than these 4...lol). We started fostering with the group we adopted from a few months after we got our first hound and been doing that ever since. We've had about 50 fosters go through our house. Been a lot of fun and seen a lot of awesome dogs get adopted. Let's see your pups!

I described the one week liquid-only diet to my spouse (my team's version: 3 shakes or soups per day, plus unlimited clear, sugar-free things like broth and Mios). He looked kind of nervous and said "I think maybe I should go somewhere else that week and just come back to take you to the surgery." ? (I mean, he isn't wrong. I'm going to spend the entire week hangry.)

Getting pretty sick of starvation diet, but I am down 34 lbs since May and 15 since the liquid diet began. I won’t lie I haven’t been perfect but I hope good enough. Getting really nervous in this time leading up to surgery. Last day at work before adventure begins... here’s to a new life !!!

You carried a child in your womb for 9 months. You experienced extreme nausea, had a painful labor and ended up with a c-section. You gained a lot of weight and wasn't able to go back to your old size. You tried to diet, did a little exercise but wasn't able to lose even a single pound. You are very eager and willing to go back to work but your boss told you that you need to lose more weight first before you can proceed and face your clients. How would you feel about all these?! It's so frustrating, depressing, sad...name it! How will you overcome all these?

I couldn't begin to tell you the real meaning behind this tattoo...and it would rob some of the magic if I did, so I won't. BUT....symbolically, lily of the valley is associated with "a return to happiness, humility and luck".....which is pretty neato all by itself. PS...in case you can't figure out what body part that is...lol...it's my right ankle:)

Even though I know I will never experience the kinds of monthly losses that most people experience on that show, it really did inspire me in May to start my own salvation journey with weight loss--again--for about the millionth time. I watched the Penny Saeger episode with almost the same fixated attention one would give to a speeding train about to crash. And I wondered if anyone else saw this episode and had any thoughts about it? Season 2 Penny Saeger - My 600lb Life - Has She Lost Weight? Season 2 Penny Saeger - My 600lb Life Penny Saeger Update

I have a lot of comical Star Wars T-shirts. All sized 4xl and 5xl. I want to keep wearing them because they are funny and some stranger will always comment on it, like a sunset image of Chewbacca with a skateboard, Darth Vader swinging a lightsaber at a pinata, and a casual Friday of a storm strooper at a desk with a wall calendar with princess Leia on it. Hi!! I am pre-op, considering either bypass or sleeve. I am wondering how strict the rules are about lifting over 10 lbs after surgery? I have sons who are 1, 3, and 5 yrs old. I baby wear a lot because that's how life happens at our house. How quickly after surgery could I conceivably lift my 1 yr old? All of my babes were c-section, and I was lifting a 28lb 2 yr old within days after the last 2. How quickly were mommas or daddies able to baby wear post-op? We have several Tulas, and I worry about how my son would sit on my stomach if I wore him in front or where the straps would sit if I wear him on back. TIA!!

If so, which brands of color do you like the best? Which look the most natural? I have a significant amount of grey. I know grey is in, but my grey just looks kinda drab. I know I'm a day late on this, but I haven't come up with what I am giving up for Lent this year. We had a sermon a few years ago about how Lent is not a diet plan, it's not meant to be a second chance at re-starting a New Year's resolution. That sort of kicked me right in the guilt-button, because I had given up sugar before and the whole focus ended up being how great I felt and how much weight I had lost. Not the point of Lent. So all you Anglicans/Catholics, tell me what you chose and why!
