I don’t even know how to eat anymore. It doesn’t take me forever to eat. I think I’m still eating too fast. Things also don’t upset my stomach like everyone else. I sometimes think something is wrong but I am losing weight. My heaviest was 363 and I’m down to 307. So that’s good you know ? I just have this constant fear of over eating and eating too fast and ruining everything. I can eat more than my sister who had the same surgery same time as me. I’m just worried. Someone please tell me it’s normal haha or that I’m ok. And give me tips on how to slow down. Thanks !!

OK so its the holidays and now they are over. Every year I miss my family more since I can't spend time with them. They live in a different state and its always been a struggle for me since it was my decision to move. I have lived here since 1997 but I had my sister here when I moved, so not so hard. Now my closest family member is about 5 hours away (my daughter). I am married to a very loving man for 18 years, but not so big on holidays. OK enough background. I had surgery on 9/16/20 after 3 cancellations over the last year. So I had plenty of education about what to expect and lots of time to think about it. I thought I was very ready and would breeze right throu…

Hi everyone, i had my gastric sleeve on May 22 2019 due to the fact that i nearly died after my hysterectomy the congestive heart failure was drowning me. Lyckily i get to see a dietician soon since i didn't fet ti finish the original program after surgery due to an insurance change. I announced on Facebook today that I am planning on having gastric bypass. I am an honest person, and transparent as far as my thoughts and feelings, so I wanted everyone to know what was happening before I started losing massive amounts of weight. Everyone has been very supportive in their responses thus far but it has left me feeling exposed and vulnerable. Bring on the anxiety. On a positive note, I've lost 2 more pounds and have gone down 2 pant sizes since starting this journey. [emoji1373]

Isn't it wonderful to wake up some days and feel like you are ready to take anything? But on the other side of the bed, there's anxiety badgering you about the million and one things that will go wrong today. People would call me over-emotional, some would tell me to move past my problems and carry on. But they don't understand that I can't just put the things that worrying me or dragging me down and never look back. Today has been a day where my anxiety defeated me but posting here is my way of taking back control, It might be temporary, and I have accepted that, but I’ll bounce back because I always do.
-
A friend of mine who is scheduled for surgery next year was recently experiencing anxiety, maybe because of the covid isolation. Is it okay to push thru with the surgery even if she has anxiety or could weight loss surgery help her?

Can anyone suggest something I can try and satisfy my sugar crave!!!!

I've been lurking around here for a long time, and finally made an account.. So I'll probably post a bunch of stuff in the coming days that I've been wanting to ask for months!!! Back to the topic I'm posting on: I've heard stories from a handful of people that have had surgery, had great success, then "fell off the wagon" and gained it all, or most of it, back. I wondered if there's anyone here who has gained back and is now trying to lose it again on their own, and I'm wondering if you have any advice for us to stay on track. I'm terrified, because I've yo-yo'd my whole life, and I want this to be the time it works, I want this to be the time that's different. So I'm lo…

First, I know there is a large population of WLS folks who don't drink carbonated beverages, so if you are one of those, this will not interest you. Look Away! Soooo....I am big carbonated water drinker, drank the stuff pre-wls, and continued to do so after surgery (starting around 2-3 months post op). The literature my team provided advised against it, but when I brought it up with my surgeon & nutritionist, both had no real objection. Our household probably goes through 10 or so 1.5 litre bottles of carbonated water a week (of which I probably drink 6 or 7 of them myself). I have long been considering a Soda Stream but the idea of having to keep buy…

What is it like to go into hospitals right now? Is it safe to go to the hospital during COVID-19 pandemic?

Yesterday I picked up Starbucks. While waiting on my drink, another woman was making small talk with me. She very confidently said to me: "So you play soccer?" It caught me off guard because I wasn't wearing anything indicating anything about soccer, nor had we discussed anything about sports or soccer. (I had on tennis hoes and Nike Running crop pants.) It was honestly pretty random... but later it hit me... She assumed that I was an athlete.. because I looked thin/athletic enough to look like an athlete. It's been the best compliment I've received in the 5-ish months since my surgery. So, what was your best compliment?

I know it's completely unreasonable to feel this way. I'm booked for surgery 4 January, my pre op diet starts in two days. I've done my homework, planned the first 6 weeks based on my dieticians advice. Does anyone else have these fears? Or had these fears and now are post surgery? I think I need to keep myself busy, or at least my mind busy. It's stinking hot here in Queensland Australia, and I've got lots of things I can do to keep me occupied.....

So, I'm 5 months out and my scars are still very pink. When did the visibility of your scars improve? Mine are SO obvious still against my pale skin... I feel like the color will never change.

OK, call me a big ole chicken or something but I am a little over three weeks post op (gastric sleeve) and besides a constipation I haven't had any issues: knock on wood. I am still losing weigh at a pretty good clip, I haven't run into my 3 week stahl yet, I am walking about 3 miles a day, I am getting my protein and water in but I am afraid to start eating a regular soft diet. I don't know exactly what I am afraid of either. I just look at foods and see carbs, fats and calories......... My husband was supposed to be in his two week prep for his surgery but it was rescheduled due to the COVID garbage (yea now we can pay a deductible again) but I am cooking for hi…

I’m hoping for a bypass in March, but looking at all of the success stories, I just can’t believe that it’s really going to be possible. I thought if I wrote a list of all the things I’m looking forward to doing that it’d become more “real.” Feel free to add to it or if you’ve already experienced your own victories, please share! 1. Going to a professional game and not having to squeeze into a seat. Leaving said game without having bruises on my hips from the arms digging in. 2. Wearing fun socks. Tomorrow is Christmas sock day at work, and I never get to participate because I can’t wear tall socks because of my calves. 3. Getting a pair of tall boots - same p…

A friend is up for surgery this week but had to reschedule because of the surge of covid cases here in California. I am guessing that it's some kind of hospital protocol. But in my opinion, it's for her safety too. What's the situation in your area right now? Do you also have an increase in covid cases?

So, I've been trying various calorie trackers and just came across one that has the actual nutrition label information for every food you eat! It's called Nutrionix Track and it's in the google playstore. I've been using calorie trackers for just over a week now and I have lost 6 lbs already (going from 310 to 304) and that's staying around 1300 calories a day. I'll definitely have the 20 lbs off by May 6th so I can get my surgery!

In a week's time, I'm going to be heading off on an in-state vacation for a few days. It's a small attempt to make up for losing pretty much all of my summer between surgery and COVID. Fortunately, I have a lot of great options for in-state getaways. Admittedly, I have some minor anxiety about the whole thing that is mostly related to my diet (mitigating COVID anxiety by making a concerted effort to get out of the downtown area and off to the multitude of hiking trails and quieter spots on the island). I've got a couple of big orders of my favored protein bars arriving this week and will definitely be making room for a box or two in my suitcase. I can pick up some pr…

It’s affecting all of us one way or another right? I was staying pretty strong until recently. Now I’m noticing that I tear up easily during rom-coms or touching commercials. Human interaction is so important and we are all isolated and yearning for life to go back to “normal”. There is no question that a low grade depression is manifesting, and I for one, am not interested in participating in that :) My surgery was cancelled last week and if it isn’t rescheduled in December, this is the end of the journey for me. I can’t afford another max out of pocket in the new insurance year. I started to get really down and then I turned on the news. I realized quickly that I ha…

Hello, My surgery for December 14th was canceled until further notice with no date set at this time. What I'm wondering is if anyone is in my shoes and what are you doing in the mean time? I'm thinking about going on a 1500 calorie diet to get ready for surgery and then there is a part of me that is like time for some food funerals. Is there a middle ground for this? I'm going to start working with a psychologist the week to try to work on my bad eating habits as well as other thing. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to keep meeting with the nutritionist to keep me on track? If you aren't in my shoes what would you be doing if it was you??

But then I did a smart thing! So, I went out earlier today to accomplish two things. First, to vote in my state's primary. Second, to get passport photos taken. Except I did them in the reverse order. I went to the CVS down the street to get the photos done. While waiting for them to print, my eyes unfortunately landed on a temptation too great for me to ignore. I love Oreos. Like...really love Oreos. And I adore the special edition flavors that they come out with. I have not had Oreos in probably 9 months. That is a slippery slope I did not need. Except they had Tiramisu flavored Oreos for sale. I also love Tiramisu. So...I walked out of CVS…

I thought it might be fun to have a thread to celebrate the process by sharing how far we have already come, regardless of where we are in the journey. My before and during photos are 4 months apart, from right before pre-op diet to now. About 50-ish pounds to goal.

I finally got my date set for 12/29- I'm really excited, but also starting to get a little nervous. Not so much about the surgery, but other things: I'm getting my cpap switched to a bipap and still need to get the right configuration and approval to my surgeon, which will take some time to figure out; then there's the fact that Covid is resurging (though still low in my state) and concerns about hospital stay during peak flu season and need to quarantine from my parents after. Then there's care for my special needs 6 year old- my parents are going to take him while I'm in hospital and for a few days after so I can rest initially, but I have further quarantine conce…

- Butler was the hero for the Heat in Game 3 as he became the third player in NBA history to record a 40-point triple-double in an NBA Finals game, joining LeBron James (Game 5, 2015) and Jerry West (Game 7,1969). Jimmy Butler led the way in Game 3 with his first playoff career triple-double to give the undermanned Heat a 115-104 win. The Miami Heat are back in the series after securing a 115-104 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 3, thanks to a monster performance from Jimmy Butler. Butler poured in his first career playoff triple-double with 40 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds on 14-of-20 shooting from the field and 12-of-14 at the free-throw line to ma…

Hi everyone! Hope you had a good week and that this one will be amazing too! This week, I am thankful to be on vacation for 4 days in one of my favorite places. I’m thankful for the weight I have lost making it so I don’t get winded and have to stop repeatedly while carrying my luggage. I’m thankful that I’ll be able to keep very close to on plan while on vacation thanks to careful preparation. And I am so thankful to be out of the office and away from that stress until Friday. How about you?

Hey there! Coming back with a new Thankful Thread for this week after taking last week off. What are the things you are thankful for this week? I am thankful for so many kind, compassionate, and uplifting voices on this site and the knowledge that they possess and share. I'm thankful for finding some amazing 1-Carb low-cal tortillas and being able to share them with others here. I think I am going to pick up a rotisserie chicken from the store tonight and a jar of enchilada sauce just so I can keep using them. I'm thankful that I'll be taking a small vacation next week and visiting one of my favorite places again. There's some stress about COVID…

Hey everyone! It's a new week! New thread! Honestly, I am having trouble with things to be thankful for as I've been dealing with a lot of muscle and joint pain the past few days in both of my arms. My right arm feels like it's an RSI that I've dealt with intermittently in the past, though it hurts worse this time around. Not sure what is going on with my left shoulder. It has made sleep very difficult the past few nights. Coupled with a lower weight loss this week and reemergence of constipation and I've got a bit of the blahs going on. That said, I am thankful for the amazing fresh fish market that's 30 minutes from my house for giving me deliciou…

It's a new week! How are you doing and what are you thankful for/glad about this week? I'm thankful I had the chance to sleep in yesterday due to the Labor Day holiday, even if my body woke me up earlier than I'd have liked. I'm thankful that my taste buds have changed in ways to help me avoid some foods, as my boyfriend made some chicken nuggets last night and I took a small bite of one just to indulge and ended up spitting it out because it just didn't taste good. I'm glad that gochujang exists as it has amped up my pureed chicken salad in a very delicious way and gives me just a little spice.' I'm glad that I've reached my first weight loss goal an…

Okay, so I’ve got to vent and y’all are my online therapists, don’t ya know? How many of you can point to several relationships that have been changed for the worse by WLS? I’ve got many fans and supporters, but there are a few friends who I swear treat me like I’ve got the plague now. The latest in particular is a friend who lives in the next state. She’s got elderly parents here and comes every few weeks to check on them. Long story short, they just sold their house to live in assisted living and my friend was here a whole week. In the past, she’s come through for Easter, July 4th, and other random visits, yet I never find out about them until it’s too lat…

So what is everyone thankful for this week? I am thankful that the summer heat is starting to subside here and I've been able to get outside for my walking again. I'm also thankful that I haven't had any tolerance issues with any of the foods I've tried so far, though admittedly I have been playing it safe and not branching out too much yet. I'm also thankful that my bosses informed me of my raise for this year and it is beyond generous.

Hi guys, I hope you're doing well! I've had surgery in March and after all the actions I had to stay at home (virus, etc). I haven't got any specific hobbies, could read a book for 2-3 hours and then throw it. I was searching the net and found the article about screen printing. If you don't know, a screen printing press allows you to print different pictures on your clothes (and not only on them). Unfortunately, this unit is a bit pricey. But my wife found one good model on eBay! My first try was awful, of course, but I was full of enthusiasm. Watched a lot of videos on YouTube, read a ton of articles, followed different bloggers. And this day has come. I've ma…

I have had difficulty finding a therapist that is supportive talking with me specifically about weight loss. Most seem to focus more on acceptance, which is nice in most situations, but not when my obesity is going to kill me. This made me curious about other people's experiences have been and the real question... What is the best feedback your therapist ever gave you? I just discovered Dr. Duc Vuong's youtube channel and now i'm OBSESSED! It felt really affirming having someone point out that most doctors have you shoot for the "average" weight loss, 60-65% of EBW e.g. how my nutritionist suggested my goal should be 170lbs- like wtf? Dr. V pushes his patients to get to around 20 BMI and I'm here for THAT! I think I've watched 6 or 8 of his videos since discovering him yesterday. So good! And no BS! Plus I kinda love that he swears too, feels more genuine. Here's one of his vids, check him out!

It has been nearly a year since I was sleeved. I have lost 100lbs and working on 30 more to hit my goal. Motivation is there but I'm tired of obsessing over workouts and meal preps alone. Are there any other Floridians sleeved that may need a motivation buddy? I am wanting to surround myself with people who have had this experience and are still trying to focus on the health goals. I am in SWFL and am willing to chat, video chat, and even do activities with anyone interested.

Hi. I am in the second week post surgery. I don’t miss the food for the most part, but the though of never being able to have a big drink of water is tearing at me. I loved water more than anything and in the past I would come in the house and fill up a 750 ml cup of iced cold water and drink two of them and feel like a million dollars. I understand I may not get there, but does this half cup an hour limit run forever? Thank you. Peace.

Since I'm about 10 days away from a bypass I'd love to hear from the Veteran Bypassers but of course Sleevers too as I know it's not THAT different. I think what keeps me awake at night is the LOSS of the joy I receive celebrating with food or splurging as a Foodie with my husband (naturally trim) or the joy of treats with my children. I don't need the speech about finding joy in other things. I get that. And I know food has been an anchor to me for many years now. A burden. But I do also get great joy from it. From looking forward to it. Even during my years of temporarily successful Weight Watchers attempts I could save points for a big treat on the weekend and fel…

I was trying to remember a few details on my weight loss timeline so I started reading my old posts. I had such fun reading it, A handful of posters are still active here from when I started and have really been a source of encouragement and support for me. I honestly don’t think I would have been as successful if I hadn’t jumped in and started posting. So thank you all, It’s comforting to log on and recognize people and meet new people. The people that are no longer posting were also a huge help, I hope they are all doing well. I tend to check the same threads when I log on so I probably miss a lot of what’s going on! It is kind of like having a journal, I’m so glad…

I recently stumbled upon this article saying that oversized ladies do not find sanitary pads really produced for them. Tampons may be hard to put in, and some pads may be too small. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS SUBJECT IS TABOO IF SOME OF YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM IT. After reading this article, I got curious and did some research. I read a few comments of women saying they felt like an outcast in society. And this is unacceptable nowadays. It is not normal that in 2020 you still do not find the right product for you. I would love for ANY OF YOU suffering from this to contact me. I am working on creating the right product for you, and would love to hear your su…
