June 9th 2021 was my surgery date. My fiancé and my family were so elated. “You finally get to start you life again”, they said. I was ready to bloody do this! Surgery was supposed to start at 11am and then got pushed back severely due to an emergency the surgeon had to deal with. My surgery didn’t commence until 9:30pm that day. I...was still ready but everyone was anxious and worried the surgeon would be exhausted and what not. Well not 30 minutes after, the surgery was aborted leaving me with six incisions and a pool of tears and anguish. My liver was too big to navigate the surgeon says. I did the pre-op diet. I DID it!!! What f**king gives? Now I did all this for not…

  2. Since apparently no one will give out this secret, and everyone will tell you to just be patient (not likely!) Stay the course, work your plan, just wait, etc. I thought start a thread to help anyone really desperate (with a great sense of humor) ? Please add your ultimate (yet unlikely to work) Tips on breaking a stall?

  3. Ok, I fully admit, I've become an addict of sorts to "appearance-enhancing" procedures since my first foray into plastics 2+ years ago (i got a tummy tuck, arm lift and breast lift back in Dec 2019) I am pretty confident i'm done with plastics (though ask me again in 10 years, as i may be of a different opinion, lol), but have had a whole bunch of non-surgery stuff done in the last little while: lash extensions, micro-needling, teeth whitening, botox (forhead and jaw), fillers (cheeks and laugh lines), and lib blushing (a natural looking-lip colour tattoo basically). Anyhoo...I digress...I actually wanted to share the latest thing I succumbed to: Scalp Micro Pig…

Since we don’t have a chat room, the intention of this thread is that there is no real topic to wander off from. Feel free to hijack my post. In fact please do. Lol.

A while back there used to be quite a few people frequenting the chat room to socialize or kill time at work. I went in there today and there wasn't a single person logged in. I was just wondering if anyone ever goes in there anymore? TGIF y'all

My husband and I still wouldn't have been legally married if it wasn't for the state stepping in and saying I had to have an immediate family member live locally to care for me after surgery. We would have grown old together without a piece of paper to tell us to do so. I imagine we would have been in our 90's before we looked at each other and be like, "well, the kids have grandkids of their own now, suppose we should get married for insurance purposes since we're fixing to die soon?" I don't regret marrying my husband, I do regret not having any pictures that day, however that moment will always take place in my heart. February 4, 2016 2pm: Married, February 5, 2016 …

  7. So I was curious and went into MFP to find out what my diet has been consisting of recently. I pulled up the data for the last 30 days and was (sorta, kinda) shocked to see that the majority of my calories came from Liquor, Cookies and Popcorn ? #YIKES. These items were also the highest in frequency consumed. With an average of 1700 calories a day. I suppose my salads were so few in calories that they just didn't make the Top 10??? Does this mean I drink more martinis than I eat salads??? #DOUBLEYIKES While my weight has been rock-solid-stable for the past 30 days (well, for the past 2 years, really), seeing this report has spurred me to clean up my …

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of The Girls. While having the excess weight pass on was a welcome event, sadly, many had to pay the price in Boobies. Sigh. Today is the 10 year wedding anniversary of a pal o' mine. She is holding a zoom party tonite to commemorate the day and made a special request for the groomsmen & bridesmaids to wear the outfits we wore that day. I put mine on, and yes, it's way too big, and so I went looking for a pic of me wearing it back then and found this. So yeah, R.I.P Boobs. P.S. And the pic from 2011 is even AFTER I had a boob reduction in 2005 P.P.S Feel free to post pics of …

  11. For years people would Comment on my weight...as a teen, when athletic, I was told I looked too masculine, or my grandmother would tell me (while underweight) that I needed to diet or I would end up overweight and over 300 lbs like my dad's mom....which, eventually, I got there. As an obese adult, strangers made rude comments in stores, restaurants, where ever. Their kids picked fun as they did too. And it only got worse the heavier I got and didn't matter if my kids were with me or if I was solo. Fast forward and now I get from strangers questions like "do you have cancer", "are you sick", and on 2 occasions the automatic store door wouldn't open and I was told i…

I just registered my account today and this is my first post. I wanted to say hello to all and everyone that might see this. I have been an avid reader of these forums for awhile now, and just had my RYGB on 8/4/2021. There are so many posts and users here that provided me knowledge and help while I was preparing for my surgery, and since my surgery. I know it will be tough to go back and find all those posts and users and thank them, so I just wanted to say a huge "Thank You" to this entire community here in this post! You people are amazing, your stories inspire me, and your knowledge astounds me. Thanks again.

Many Americans continue to experience mental health difficulties as the pandemic enters the second year. Reports say that about a fifth of U.S. adults (21%) are experiencing high levels of psychological distress, including nearly three-in-ten (28%) among those who say the outbreak has changed their lives in “a major way.” Not surprisingly, psychological distress is higher among those who express concern about becoming ill with COVID-19 or believe that the disease is a major threat to their personal health. Have you in any way feel that the virus is a major threat to your health? What have you done to overcome this feeling? Were you already vaccinated?

Just curious about everyone’s experience. I’ve heard there’s a week 3 stall that nearly everyone experiences. I’m just finishing our week 3 and my loss has stalled. Even gained a pound. I assume it’s because of soft foods being introduced.

  17. why is it that certain foods I can take a couple bites of and feel extremely sick and full and other things like pizza I can still eat half of by myself?

  19. Started by SoulGardener,

My surgery date is 5/5/21. Last week I was 267, down from my high of 283. I was doing pretty well until I got a thought... “this is my last chance to eat badly” .... so in 2 days I got a small Sonic blast, a Whatabirger Jr, a medium french fry, then got Thai food with rice and ate two portions, then a pint of Blue Bell and, of course! Today I got on the scale and have gained back seven pounds. Has anyone else done this? Why did I do this to myself?

Hi, I had my surgery on March 17th and things have been going well, except when I eat something that makes me sick. I had eggs one day and I did try 1/2 toasted bagel and the pain knocked me out for the whole day. I spent half the day in the restroom and the other half in bed. Whether I stand, sit or lie down - the pain does not go away. Does anyone else have this issue? I can’t predict what is going to make sick - but I can’t eat something and then spend the day in bed?

This is definitely in the TMI category. Look away now and don't read this for the faint of heart! My poop since surgery and delivering those twin rocks 8 days later has been almost BLACK! Not brown but black! I understand why the stool has improved and not as it once was when eating carbs. My carbs are really low right now and that results in a better stool. The color is what is killing me. Must be some red dye in the chewable vitamins maybe? So weird!

  28. Any ideas on recipes to have that are high protein low carb?

  31. Started by Suzi_the_Q,

One of my best friends is getting WLS (sleeve)! She has some health issues that would be reduced a bit with weight loss and hearing me go through it, (we're in different states), she was inspired to do it! I'm so happy for her and she's making a great choice for her health! She'll be getting it in about 5 weeks. We're pretty close in BMI, so we've decided to be plastic surgery buddies and go to the Dominican Republic together in about 1.5 years. Knowing that she's doing this too is really helping me get back on track now that my stomach has healed and I don't get sick (much) anymore. (I was kinda in a slump for a bit there.) Plus, I just got this new squat machine that re…

  32. Hi! I’m new on here but I have a question. I had my sleeve done January 2020 and was very happy with my results and so glad I did it. I have lost 135 lbs and want to loose another 20-30 lbs more. Now being out 15 months I have developed heart burn, acidic reflux which at times is horrible. I have had heart burn in the passed but infrequently. The GI doctor has done an endoscopy and took biopsies plus stretched me as pills and food were getting stuck in my throat. Now I have this horrible pain after I eat anything like chicken, pork, fish and red meats. I don’t cook with spices, onion, or garlic. The doctor has given me different meds but nothing has worked. Right now…

    A little over year since my VSG, hair loss started about three months later. I have noticed in the past week, that hair loss has substanitally reduced when showering/washing hair, woohoo! I have fine curly hair and while showering hair loss was about three to four times my usual, I don't think anyone noticed but my hairdresser and me, if anyone did notice they certainly didn't didn't mention it to me. Coming into Autumn soon, hair growth is likely to slow down again due to seaonal changes, but I don't expect that the loss rate will pick up again;

  39. Thank goodness spring is coming, I really need the sunny spring weather. Did you know that spending 30 minutes or more outside in warm, sunny spring weather links to a higher mood and better memory? It's also easy to find fresh produce during spring. It's also time for some road trip don't you think? How about you, what are you looking forward to in spring?

Can someone tell me how they felt the day after surgery? I will be in hospital one night and was wondering how you felt on the way home? Did anyone have terrible painful gas pains, if so when? I was at a support group a couple months ago and that topic was mentioned several times, one person said they had such severe gas pains in their shoulder and below, they thought they were having a heart attack. I go in on Wednesday and this has really been on my mind.

Hi Everyone, I'm new here but a short bio. I was always overweight. Weighed nearly 400lbs by 21, lost down to 225, but maintained around 245-255 through diet and exercise. Met my husband, adopted his bad habits, got pregnant, gained, poof, back up to 350. Had the sleeve, down to 195. Woohoo! Then life, covid, etc. I'm back up to 235. Here's my question. I definately feel motivated to lose at lease 30lbs. I won't have clothes that fit if I can't get back down to about 205 and I'll be embarassed to go to work. My doctor thinks I should aim for 165. I think 175-185 is more reasonable, but regardless I'm not sure that I can motivate myself to lose more th…

I'm 5 days post-op and in too much pain to be hungry, but last night I had the most vivid food dream. I was at a vacant apartment but on a table in the apartment was a sandwich I used to make with all of the fixings. Needless to say I ate the entire thing. But, I was post-op in my dream too so I panicked and raced to the store to buy a protein shake? It was apparently Christmas time so I bought an isopure advent calendar because my dream logic said to counteract the effects of junk food I need to chase it with protein? Then the dream ended with me opening each day to reveal a new flavor of protein shake.

  50. Was thinking about my mother’s rice pudding yesterday & realised I’d never eat it again. She used to make it, bread pudding or Queen’s pudding on the weekends I went home in winter. All those carbs & sugar. So delicious. There aren’t any alternatives that taste as good. What family favourite foods did you use to enjoy but can’t/won’t eat now?
