Hello everyone! I'm brew here hoping to get myself back on track without needing a revision. I was was close to my goal weight of 188lbs, 3 1/2 years ago. I was blew out my knee and bulged discs in my back when I was an EMT. Being laid up on crutches and in constant pain; the weight slowly creeped back. I'm in the 250lb range now. I'm fighting to get the weight back off now that I'm mobile. I was 360lbs when I started my journey, do not want to wind up back there. My PCP has put me back on thyroid meds and metformin hoping it will aide in weight loss. So far nothing. Not gaining but not losing either. I having invested in vitamin patches and would like to try t…

Was waiting for my micro blading follow-up appointment at the swanky local day spa this morning when in walked two young, thin ‘beautiful people’ (all spray tans, botox & body con clothes) and I suddenly felt uncomfortable & embarrassed. I thought oh I’m so fat & they’ll look at me & judge me. WTF!! Where did that thought come from?? I’ve always been pretty self confident & never really felt that way when I carried weight (probably because I saw myself as ‘only being overweight’ not the reality of being obese - body dysmorphia). And now this random thought of being less than & being judged by how I look comes into my head. Worse was the realis…

After years of reading my medical reports and seeing terms and unflattering statements like obesity, morbid obesity, "composed mostly of fatty tissue", and "due to patient's habitus," (which is the medically polite way of saying "can't see sh*t due to too much fat!" I finally had a CT scan this week and the report has the term "dose lowering technique utilized due to patients size." WooHoo...I'm too small for a normal dose of radiation! That's a NSV in my book!

Every once in a while someone will create a thread about experiencing more illnesses (common colds, flu, etc) after WLS (some are chronic cases or occur many years later) Naturally no one believes there is any correlation. A quick video to give a little insight on possible reasons why and what to ask your physicians about if this is happening to you As always, do your own research & keep your physicians in the loop. Hope it helps someone search for alternate answers

  11. Going into this surgery I knew there would be head work but am surprised at a change I've decided to make: shedding or discontinuing one-sided relationships with some family members. It's as if as I lose the weight and become healthier I'm looking much closer at what's really going on with all my relationships. As I feel better about myself I will no longer tolerate indifference and lack of caring from others, or continue what I was doing - trying to buy their love with gifts. I'm the maiden aunt who had been sending Christmas and birthday presents to family kids until they turned 18. In the past I've at least received photos of some of them in return and one niece w…

Ok, BP has been rather boring, we used to have some rowdies on here ( where did they go!) (@FluffyChix, ahem!) I have been browsing endless plastic surgery sites, lurking all my friends's surgeries. So the gal pics are more prevalent and we are used to seeing each other nekkid for ps galleries, typical mommy makeovers, ba/bl, etc. And we are especially concerned about the mons lift or FUPA. While browsing photo galleries, without warning in full frontal pics oh look - men - seeking/getting needed surgery - quick scroll past the scrotums.... So I got to thinking, some of those dudes have some mighty low hanging fruit.... do they get 'lifts' or some kinda e…

This might belong under the Non-Scale victories thread, but it felt like it warranted a thread, because I didn't see it anywhere else, here. Are you familiar with the Death Clock? http://www.deathclock.com/ It's morbid and obviously a bit tongue-in-cheek, but the site "calculates" your approximate "death day" based on attitude, weight, and smoking status. I did mine a few years back and it gave me a date of December 25, 2061. I did it again today and I'm happy to report I've bought myself another 8 years with surgery! New "date of death" is January 2, 2069.

OK Guys, so i think this may have been done before, but i had a question. Has anyone gotten a tattoo after surgery? Either to memorialize the process, or simply because they feel comfortable with their new size and want to show off a little. I myself have over 10 different tattoos and I am currently in the process (2 sessions done) of doing a half sleeve because im pretty damn happy with my arms. If anyone wants to share, or even show pics of there tats (be respectful please, this is a public forum), lets see what you got. You show me yours and ill show you mine (HA!)

This week marks my one year surgiversary. I stopped losing weight at 6 months. I just stalled. I never gained back any weight, but I didn't lose any more weight. But I'm still happy with my results and I am confident that I will lose more weight in 2020. Toward that end, I visited the nutritionist this week to get back on track. My meals were still good with portions, plenty of protein, plenty of water, but some cookies and chocolate sugary snacks had made their way into my diet that I have eliminated in the last 4 days. So here's to a new year in 2020 and a new chance to get back on track/stay on track with additional weight loss and increased healt…

So, since around month 5 post bypass my blood pressure, the upper number, has been hovering around 100. Sometimes under. I get lightheaded when I stand up from sitting or lying down. But, I went to my doctor and they checked my bp lying down, sitting, and standing, and it didn't change. Stays around 100/70. I know we're not doctors here, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this??

He has a history of heart disease and has had many heart attacks plus a quadruple bypass, but this is the first heart stack in a decade that was bad enough to fire off the defibrillator unit in his chest. I don't know if I even have the option to move my surgery date or what to do.

Hi. So, I had my bypass 6.5 months ago, and my nails are in terrible shape. Peeling and splitting. I like to wear nail polish, but it just doesn't stay. A day or two after polishing them the polish starts chipping and flaking off! Any suggestions for improving my manicure? I just started taking biotin for my nails, and hair loss, but I'm sure it takes months to see improvement. Thanks!

  31. Hey there, I tore the left meniscus on my right knee roughly 1.5 yrs ago when I was stupidly trying to exercise by running 'down' stairs. Had a 'meniscus' trim surgery to remove the torn meniscus as it was 'dangling' and the ortho said he was concerned it would get caught in my knee and lock it up (this is actually a true possibility). Had MRI to diagnose tear and to check out both knees. ALL I was told is that I had a nasty meniscus tear and that outpatient surgery to trim it was the recommendation. OK, so I had the surgery. To this day, I cannot kneel on my right knee as the pain is INTENSE. To this day, my right knee swells up like a balloon if I drive t…

I became an empty nester in July when my twenty year old son with Autism moved in with caregivers. Natural growth for him and a chance to catch a breath for me. I have been having a hard time cook Gand eating for one. Plus I increased my hours at work . At first I was eating a lot of tv. Dinners, cereal or ice cream. I’ve finally started cooking big meals on the week and then freezing it for the week and this seems to work better. Are there other empty nesters and what and how do you eat.?

This time I added about 8 small pieces of salad to it and had about 1 TBSP of dressing. (Have not had dressing really for a while, nor have I had pieces of salad). About a decade ago, when I had lost what I thought was a good amount of weight, there was an online group (do not remember it) where you could post sizes and pics of clothes you had and them arrange to swap/send to someone else. Usually whomever was receiving the clothes paid for shipping and sometimes if the item was dressy/expensive/with tags, you would work out an acceptable arrangement with that person. Likewise, as I lost weight, I posted my clothes and arranged for new homes. I realize this sounds maybe complicated but it was vastly easy at the time. Perhaps I had more energy? I don't see anything like this these days. I'm not a big FB person but I guess t…

We have all found products that have helped us along our weight-loss journey. I thought it would be great to share some of our favorites. I am not a great fan of protein, but Perky Jerky has been my salvation! The meats are low-fat, low-carb, tender and flavorful. Some even come in convenient 1 oz. bags (for under $2) that you can throw in a purse or backpack. They're having a 4th of July sale and I just bought some and wanted to let the rest of you know about it.

Just take your previous total and add to it as often as you want! It would be fun to keep track each day! I will go back to Monday (the start of the week for me) and add figures. You can do it in either steps or miles/kms. Let's get physical, y'all!

Now at 100 lbs lighter people have been coming up to me more often asking questions. This post isn't up for debate on whether I should tell others about my surgery. Rather, I'm just wondering if a non-surgery patient could be successful by following some of our bariatric guidelines, e.g. logging food (at a calorie deficit), focus on protein first to feel full, limiting carbs, drinking lots of water, etc
