I need your help!! My mother is hosting a jewelry party at ther house this saturday and she is serving little finger foods and drinks. Well, I am the only person who has to watch what they eat but I also want to eat! Does anyone have any ideas? What can I make that I can eat, that is basically easy for me to get down but can also be tasty for everyone else?? I had thought about a 7-layer dip (fat free ingredients!) and not eating chips with it...cheese tray...raw vegetables, etc....but then I found a recipe for honey-ginger chicken bites that sounds so tasty but I know it would get stuck!!! I don't know...can you please help!!!! :omg: .....And how about an idea for a sna…

On the otherhand I have been hardley losing any weight at all and I really think I need a fill. What should I do?

I'm amazed that I sat at the table and ate just as much as anyone else. Jeepers!! How did you all do ? Watcha do last night and watcha doing today. DH just shoveled our driveway, we got a few inches of snow last night so its probably sleigh riding for us today.

..in a hotel room. Sorry about the delay in posting. Post-op, it's so easy to read the boards, but it just feels like a jumbo hassle to post, especailly if it's more than one board. So, it was not only textbook, it went better than that. Doctor had scheduled his first surgery (me) for 7:00 a.m. and the second surgeryat 10:30. Only, by 9:15, Dr. K was all tidied up and talking to my husband. He later razzed me, saying that I had screwed up his schedule for the entire day. Also, my last two anesthesia debacles were overblown. At my post-op meet with the anesthesiologist, I was told that I was a "Class Three Intubation," and should mention that at my next surgery. At …

:help: I am having a problem, I can't see myself. I look in the mirror and all I see is what I was and not what I have become. Yes my hair is different, even sexy, I wear makeup and deffinately dress better (that kind of happens when you can find clothes in you size again) but I don't know what I am. What I mean by this is am I still grossly fat, overweight, chubby, curvascious, thin?????? I dont know and can't figure it out. My husband says I am slightly chubby.... but what exactally does that mean, his idea of chubby and someone elses are completely different. why can't there be a clone of me so I can stand back and say ok... thats what I look like. but there isn'…

Hello All, I had my first fill about 3 weeks ago and I have to say they really went to town on that fill. Unfortunately I throw up pretty much everyday, sometimes its because I ate to fast, sometimes it is just from Water and right now I have a stabbing pain in my side...Loosing 13 pounds in 3 weeks has been great, but is this band life? I find myself only drinking water and the occasional yogurt smoothie. I ventured out to have ONE very soft raviloi today and only 1/2 went down...what is up, am I filled too tight? Jen

Fellow Texas Bansters, I am thinking about hosting a clothing swap event in my home sometime late January, but am only willing to do it, if there is enough interest. I only have one for sure right now. Let me know if you are interested and what sizes you are wanting to get rid of or find. I live in the far Southwestern part of Mesquite. I am wanting to give up some 28s, 26s, 24s, and a few 22s. I am looking for some 18s. Looking forward to hearing from ya'll.

Yes, erosion sucks. Yes, paying for a band and going through painful surgery only to have more painful and uncomfortable surgery to remove the band sucks even worse. But there's way too much erosion-anxiety around here, and I'm afraid I caused a lot of it. People, being unbanded isn't the end of the world. Honestly, I'm happy to have the foreign object out of my stomach. Maybe if I'd been banded locally with good aftercare things would be different, but we all have to TAKE OUR LUCK AS IT COMES AND FIT OURSELVES TO IT. I was not meant to have the band. I can't explain why, but maybe there's a reason some of us aren't supposed to be skinny. Heck, maybe I'll cras…

Crazy Mike the Biker walks into a pharmacy and says to the pharmacist, " Listen, I have three girls coming over tonight. I have never had three girls at once, and I need something to keep me horny...keep me potent." The pharmacist reaches under the counter, unlocks the bottom drawer and takes out a small cardboard box marked with a label " Viagra Extra Strength" and says, "Here, if you take these, you will go NUTS for 12 hours." Then Crazy Mike says, " Give me 3 boxes." The next day, Crazy Mike walks into the same pharmacy. The pharmacist recognized Mike and asks him how was last night. Mike pulls down his pants. The pharmacist looks in horror as he notices th…

I was recently reading over some great information that I used with my business & thought I could use it with my weight loss as well. I'm going to try it & see how it goes! I've been with my sales company for 9 yrs. When I first joined, I went to a conference where I heard a speaker tell us that if you want something bad enough, you have to have 50 reasons you want to achieve that goal. My team & I immediately went to work & made our own goals & list of 50. My goal was to become a Senior Director in 4 yrs. (Upper managment, more money, trips,....all the great perks that go along with it!) I achieved my goal in 3 years!!!! I had that list of…

Hello everyone How are you all??? Well have my date for my first consultation 21st of February.....Hooraah I here you say. Well yes and no I'm going for a british medical clinic first. Up to Harley Street £50.00 just for that ($100.00), thats not to bad. I did a sum on BMI mines around 63.6 bad I know. Ok if I was only around the 50 number it would ONLY cost me £7950.00 ($15900.00) but because I'm over the 50 mark it is going to cost me £8450.00 ($16900.00) which I must say made me feel a little queasey to say the least. I have asked them if I went and had this op done overseas no clinic as they know of would offer me any aftercare so I'm a little bit, excuse the…

Hi all I had my band fitted 71/2 months ago, I made a speedy recovery initially post op. I was finding it extremely difficult to get a fill and when at 10weeks post op regained the 12lb lost on my pre op diet. And I expressed my concern to my surgeon that I couldn’t get a fill he told me if I could find a service better elsewhere I was welcome to go. So I held in for a few more weeks and at 16weeks post op I had had enough so I found a new fill provider. I had my first fill of 31/2 mill’s at 18 weeks and a second fill 0f 2mill’s 22weeks. That’s were my problem started I have been vomiting daily several times a day restriction is so tight I can barely drink I have lost…

This weekend is really rough. I go back for the results from the latest round of test on Tuesday, but that feels like a lifetime away. I found a message board for Cushing's and now I'm completely freaked out. I've gotta stop doing this to myself. I cried myself to sleep last night over the things that I read on the board.

Well, here is an update . My Band was slipped. It all started last Sunday, the 23rd. We went out to dinner to Celebrate my birthday at The Cheesecake Factory. My first time ever going there and I was very excited. Well, barely into the appetizer I got stuck. I went to the bathroom and PB'd. After several trips, I realized that I couldn't seem to get "unstuck". Later that night, I was throwing up clear Fluid with the stomach acid taste that doesn't usually come with a pb. The next day I woke up able to take in some liquids. I stayed on liquids until Tuesday night. Once again we went out to eat ( we eat out often, obviously) I got stuck on the first bite of salad. I N…

Recently, someone posted (somewhere here) that her husband wanted her to get the balloon rather than the band. I do think he was in the military, so probably stationed in Europe. I had very little in the way of English language research that I could access online, but the one thing I did see was that it must be removed within 6 months and it has caused life-threatening erosions of the stomach wall. Anyway, this is a news article on the gastric balloons and you can expect to hear more about them as Europe begins to face their ballooning problems with obesity. -- Theresa Stomach Balloons Used to Fight Weight Gain By MARTA FALCONI AP ROME (Jan. 29) - Vi…

Hello all! I am attempting to get approved to have lap band surgery and was denied once due to a requirement by my insurance for a 6 mo medically supervised weight loss plan. Now that I completed that and am ready to be resubmitted I have been having chest pain. Went to the Dr and have had all pertinent tests only to learn that it was some blockage in my esophagus (caused by acid) from reflux. I also have a hiatal hernia. I have been prescribed Nexxium and told that the problem should be cleared up in approx a month. I am frantic!! I know this can't be a good thing as far as the band goes. Will this interfere or cause further problems does anyone know? Will this el…

I was scheduled to get all of my evaluations done this week - nutritionist and dietician today and upper GI and abdominal ultrasound on Friday. I was anticipating getting everything to blue cross for evaluation next week and maybe even have a surgery date before the end of Feb. Woohoo! Unfortunately, when I got to the place today I discovered that the surgeon's office had given me the WRONG TIME for my appointment. This would be fine if it wasn't the first time they've screwed up my schedule, and if I hadn't called last week to confirm and never got a call back. GRRRRR. Now the nutritionist isn't available for three weeks. I know three weeks is nothing in the grand s…

Got this from work.... be careful. Internet security experts recently issued warnings about a major computer worm, known as Blackworm or Mywife, that is infecting unprotected Windows Personal Computers (PCs) worldwide. This worm is a significant threat to unprotected PCs because it is scheduled to delete many types of files from infected systems on February 3. <O:p</O:p Additional Actions You Can Take The worm is spread via a virus-generated email that contains an infected attachment. The subject headings, which vary, are often inappropriate in nature and try to entice users to open the attached file. If you receive any suspicious email:<O:p</O:p…

I finally have a surgery date for February 27th and am now on the pre-op diet. Which for my doctor means 3 Protein shakes a day and unlimited fruits and veggies. My nutritionist said to try and follow that 75% of the time and the other 25% to focus on lean Proteins and whole grains. Stay away from the sugar, refined foods, etc. I need to lose a minimum of 16 pounds and ideally closer to 24 pounds before surgery. I guess I was just very naive as to how hard this pre-diet would be. I do not have a scale at home that goes high enough to weigh me. So I have no idea how I am doing. It's been about a week and a half now of this eating plan and I am doing just ok. No…

Im just curious its happened to me twice so far... and im like freaked out bc obbbvvviiously i dont want it to happen that often bc i know its bad for u. The two times it has happened it seemed like i was was toally in "old habit" overdrive mode (eating too quickly not chewing well enough ect ect)...its suchhhhh a hard habit to break but everytime! BUT everytime i get a PB im freaaaaaked not to ever let it happen again...so it makes me think more while im eating (so maybe its a hard lesson a bandster has to go thru in order to chang the habbit). Just wanted to see if its happened to people more then once...and what are some of there suggestions as to stay focused wh…

Hi, all! Waiting to be banded, here. Just wondering about the first six weeks. My doc. has us on liquids for the first two weeks, then pureed/baby food consistency for the next four weeks (having about 1/4 cup of food 6 X/day). I've read that during the first six weeks, many are hungry because they have no fill. This worries me. Are you a little less hungry than before being banded? I can't imagine not being hungry on liquids. Your stories are welcome!!!

Hi, I am now one month post banding. I lost 15 pounds during the liquid stage along with being sick. Since then, I have not eaten over 1200 calories per day. I usually have only 1000 per day. The scales are really not moving. One day I may lose a pound and then the next day, I gain it back. This has been going on for the past 2 weeks since off liquids. I go back to the doctor on 2/10/06 and hope he will give me a fill. Do you think this will help? I have noticed many people on this site losing 10 plus pounds every month. I don't want to be a failure. I was so excited the first few weeks. Thanks:(

Another thread prompted me to start my own thread. Since being banded and losing weight I have totally lost my libido. I feel like it zilch, but may do it for my other half once a month or so because the poor guys needs it ...so he says. Anyway if you dont find it too personal can you let me know if this has happened to you. I know most people I have talked to have had a huge boost in their drive since losing weight, I wish it was me. Is there any natural or prescription enhancers or things to put you in the mood? Help me please, my wedding is in September and I know I am going to have to do it then and I would really like to enjoy it too :Banane23: Delarla...i know y…

Kim8 and I wanted to share the following PMs with you all to bring you into this conversation. Please add your thoughts. A PM from Kim8 to PhotoNut: Sus - As I sit here and read your PM and laugh about the 12 course sonic meal, I start to contemplate skinny people. Do you think we'll lose our personalities along with our weight? If it wasn't for self-depricating humor, I might be humorless - what a terrible thought!!! Oh surely I can still laugh at myself about the big zit on my chin, or my extra stomach skin, or my saggy boobs, or, or, or - yikes... will this be different! Hi all, I went to my PCP because of mirgrans, and she had noticed that my weight loss has slowed down, 1 pound in 3 weeks. I let her know that it will take longer now, because I have lost alot already, (I was her first lab band patient, so she is learning from me). But she asked me how many calories I am eating in a day. I let her know if I averaged it out I may be eating a total of 700 to 800 cal. per day. Well she told me that I should be eating at least 1000 calories a day for my metablisiom to work. I told her I am using my treadmill 2 miles a day, using my excersie ball, and told her I did my first sit up (I can't remember the last time I did that...never). She inf…

I was banded in July 2004 and have lost 62lb since, i still have about 40 to go and have struggled with my weight. I did not need another fill, but figured out how to trick the band. In September 2005 my daughter (22) took her life. It made me face lots of personal issues and past issues. I had to go for treatment and as a result of this we discovered that since I was 4 I have been depressed (I am 45) and have a severe binge eating disorder, which I kinda knew but in my family - hey - we are fat and happy (NOT):xena_banana: Eight weeks ago I started taking a low dose of antidepressants and sure enough i have made the best choices and have had the most control over…

I've been really stressed waiting for the test results. Off the scale stressed. One of the things I cannot do is go to McDonald's and buy a quarter pounder with cheese and french fries. Well, I could, but I can't eat them. I have a sneeking suspicion that buying a quarter pounder with cheese and french fries and putting them in my pocket just isn't going to have the same effect as eating them. (we crave high fat foods when we are stressed, they make us feel better, which is why high fat foods are usually the first choice when medicating with food.) I could eat ice cream, but I don't want to (YE Gods! I think the world will be coming to an end because I don't want ice c…

I have a surgery date of Feb 20, 2006. My major concern is how my banding will affect my overweight daughters, ages 10, 15, 19 and 25. Will it be positive - they see dad eating better portions, exercising more, thinner. Or will it be negative - "Dad couldn't control weight through "normal" means so I'm just going to bide my time until I'm big enought to get banded too." Anybody have experience with this?

My surgery is in about a month. I've really been investing in thoughts about everything that will change. I did this before my decision, for about 4 years before, but now that it's that much closer to home, the thoughts are that much more present. If I had to rank the required behavioral changes that concern me the most, my #1 is -- of all things -- drinking w/ meals, and sipping. I drink A LOT of Water with my meals. Usually more than 64oz per meal. And none of this "take a drink, put it down, take a drink..." crap. I CHUG. If I'm thirsty, I'll drain a 32 oz glass without thinking twice. The only time I've gone drinkless during a meal was when I was too lazy to…

Has anyone noticed people treating them differently since losing weight. I have. More people come talk to me, I get waited on much quicker, especially at a bar. I don't get dirty looks from strangers if I happen to bump in to them. Hmmmmm..discrimination against fat people is definetly not a myth.
