Hi! Is there anyone else out there who is in Canada and going through the pre-op process? I'm in Ontario and would love to talk to anyone, especially if you go to St. Jo's in Hamilton. The staff there are wonderful and very informative! I'm scheduled to have surgery on October 15!! I'm so excited to get started on this journey. I've already lost 35 lbs on my own! Can't wait to lose the rest and feel better. I'll be able to keep up with my grandkids, get off some medication and just feel better!

I paid 24,000 out of pocket but he is worth every penny. He did not take my insurance but he may take yours. His office is called Maryland Bariatrics. The number one surgeon in my area for Bariatrics. He sits on several Bariatrics boards and is in charge of the hospital program. Very well respected. I had ZERO pain or nausea..they start the pain and nausea regimen 36 hours before. So, you are very well prepped for what others complain about. I can not say enough great things!

Thinking about converting to a bypass and an wanting to know how you all chose your surgeon....SPECIFICALLY people that are located here in Central Texas/Austin area. What did you all look for in a surgeon, hospital, etc.? Anyone who has gone from a sleeve to a bypass what words of wisdom do you have for someone who is thinking about it? I have reflux that is pretty bad - didn't have so bad before surgery but within the past 1-2 years it's gotten really bad to where i'm taking too many tums every day along with prilosec every day. Just thinking through things though. Have a diaphragmatic hernia, have altered my diet, changed sleeping patterns and positions, changed …

I previously told you all the story of how DR DUC VUONG and his free lap band was a scam ...Now here is a lawsuit regarding this...please see attached link... http://peasinutah.angelfire.com/drducvuong Here is the story: Dr. Vuong offered a free Lap Band in 2009 and never held up his part of the bargain! The whole constest wa a scam!!!! The winner tried to get her free lap-band and DR. VUONG backed out of the deal. Mr. Vuong, you shouldn't put together a contest giving people false hope and then they waste their money to fly down to Texas and stay in a hotel. You announced them as the winner and then when they try and contact you, you never return calls until months l…

Slim chance because of my small state, but has anyone used this surgeon? I was transferred to him from another surgeon that I didn't like and I really like this one, but I've only met him once. He operates on my Wed 3/31 and I'm getting nervous. Like I said, I had a good vibe from him, but I haven't heard anyone say they've had surgery with him, just wanted to see if anyone else has input. Thanks!

Hi All, I am considering having mini gastric bypass surgery with Dr Chris De Bruyne at Belgium surgery services. I am quite nervous about having to travel to Belgium for the surgery and wanted to know if I would be in safe hands with the surgery and after care. Can anyone please tell your experience with the Surgeon? and also your personal experience with the surgery - if there was anything that you weren't aware of pre-surgery. I do have my heart set on having this surgery and I have done quite a lot of research into this, I would love to hear peoples own experiences to help nudge me in the right direction. I'm based in N.Ireland and I'm aware that there a…

I'll be getting surgery through MUSC. One of the things that attracted me to them was that they had a whole program of behavioral psychologists and such to follow up with pre and post surgery. I am a ways off from surgery, but have been having trouble finding actual reviews of people's experiences there. Does anyone here have any experience there? What do/don't you like about their process? I did a search on the forums for MUSC and the only posts I was able to find were from mostly 2008-2012 or so. Dr Bryne seemed to have positive feedback, and he is still a surgeon there now (edit to add: that's actually who I have my consult with). Was just looking for more recent opini…

Hello, It's already 2021 end of February. How are you? At the beginning of last November, in 2020: I had seen Dr. Kevin Dolan twice and he was insistent I needed my lap band removed. I had had it for 10;5 years, no problems, and lost 30 kilos. He had gotten on the telephone to my wonderful Gp several times and had discussed with her the difficulties I was having which were: vomiting, pain wasn't able to eat sometimes for about two weeks. BUT my private insurance had lapsed. I immediately rang and had it put back on. Dr. Dolan said that my lap band had slipped but boy, I didn't realize how ill I actually was. I went …

So I am at the VERY beginning of my journey. I found a hospital that I like and they have been super helpful. I'm currently waiting for approval from my insurance company so I can schedule my appointment. I wish that the hospital was closer but it's still in my state and it's around a 4 hour drive. Has anyone in SC gone through Roper St Francis in Charleston for their surgery? How was your experience? How long did you have to wait to hear back about your insurance?

Does anyone know which plan is better in AZ? They will both be under Medicaid but I am able to choose the plan due to new enrollment. Plan 1) Arizona Complete Health Care Plan (Centene Corporation) OR Plan 2) United Health Care Community Plan. I am currently at 38.8 BMI w/ a couple of "almost" comorbidities. High cholesterol, pre- diabetic, and joint pain w/ arthritis in lower back with scoliosis. Between these two plans, does anyone know which is better on approval rates? I am just starting to inquire about this WLS journey. As soon as I choose a plan, I will ask my primary for a referral to a bariatric surgeon. My primary isn't the nicest, so wish m…

Hi everyone! I’m early in my journey - just completed the required seminar yesterday and spoke to my insurance company today to confirm wls is covered - it is! Hooray! The surgeon I am planning to meet with Is Dr. Bauman in Concord, NC. Has anyone been a patient with him? I know things are a bit different with COVID, but curious how long it takes to get an initial consultation after the seminar? My insurance (BCBS) said they would not require anything special in addition to the surgeons requirements, any thoughts on what Dr. Bauman requires and how long the process may take? Thanks! ?

Hi all! Just reaching out to see if anyone has had any experience with Dr. Udelhofen at Journeylite Cincinnati. I'm coming up on my 5th supervised diet (out of 6) and just want to get a feel for how surgeries went with him and the general experience through Journeylite. Dr. Curry did my initial consult, so, I haven't even met Dr. U yet. I think this is making me even more nervous than what I need to be. I'm hoping to get my surgery in by the end of the year. Appreciate anything you can share.
