I had my gastric sleeve done by doctor Brad watkins from UC health and weight loss center. He was the best! He not only does the staples but he folds the stomach over the staples and stitches it himself to double make sure there is no leakage. Excellent bedside manner!

I'm having surgery Sept 4th 2020 in Annapolis MD with Dr. Courtney Doyle, my experience so far has been very smooth and easy, they gave me all the information I needed and all the referrals were loaded into my patient portal, so all I needed to do was make the appointments. I have Maryland Medicaid and I thought that would make things harder for me but it really did not, I will keep you posted on my Surgery and how everything goes.

My Dr. Scott Steinbreg is the best, what was funny to me ,was when I went back after my surgery. Dr. Steinberg forgot how I looked before the surgery and it was so funny to me, so I showed him a picture of me before , lol, that mean surgery worked wonderfully, lol?????. I haven't been sick, now at the beginning it's up to you, stay strong . Go to your follow up appt. and you will be all right. I always lotion my body and It's amazing that I don't have any hanging skin. Hi! Ive searched the boards and only found a couple answers that sort of answer what im looking for. Does anyone here have Tricare - in Watertown NY, and if so what surgeon they sent you too? I cant seem to find many answers. I did find a couple of clinics in the area but im unsure if they accept tricare and work with the Base. If anyone has any answers, please let me know. Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone else is waiting for surgery by a company call Tonic. I was due to have self pay surgery in a private hospital in Luton UK called the Cobham clinic with private facilities, I’ve had my surgery moved several times (understandable due to COVID). But now that I’ve paid the balance of the fee they tell me that there will be a location change and now I have to have my surgery in the Luton NHS hospital in a ward with 5 beds per bay. No difference in cost. And if I don’t like it I can have surgery delayed again with no known date. Feels very fishy to me. I just wanna know if anybody has had very bariatric surgery at the same time as another procedure? I know people will sometimes say they are having abdominal surgery or gallbladder surgery when they're really having weight loss surgery. I need a thumb joint replacement and the recovery time would be close to 3 months and I can't help but think that I should really consider bariatric surgery at the same time.

Hi everyone! I'm up the the Seattle area and have a strange question... I've already done my pre-requisites, gotten insurance approval, but haven't set a date. They have given me the run around from day 1. There is NO support from their office. And they're quite rude if I have to contact them. Here's the question: Is it possible to change surgeons?? From the beginning, I haven't liked the office/staff/doc that I've been dealing with. Something just doesn't feel right. I've contacted another surgeon/office and they were AMAZING and SO HELPFUL. I had gastric bypass surgery at GBMC in Maryland. My surgeon was Dr. Betsie Dovec. Her and her t were absolutely amazing! Highly recommended.

Dr. Chad Carlton at Lonestar Bariatrics has to be one of if not the best bariatric surgeons in the DFW area of Texas! He is so friendly and hands-on, he truly cares about his patients. He doesn't just abandon them to figure things out after surgery, he makes sure they have everything they need every step of the way. His staff is equally as awesome, always making sure the patients are well informed and comfortable every step of the way. His dietician, Allison, is more than willing to answer and every question a patient may have. She is happy to give patients her email so they can get answers ASAP. I am so glad I went with Lonestar Bariatrics for my surgery!

Had my surgery with Dr Stalin in 2016. He did a good job and his team was awesome and helpful. Highly recommend the facility. I don't think he is there anymore though

Has anyone had surgery by Dr. Pysher or any of the surgeons at SCNV? What was you experience like? How was Reston Hospital. So far, I am having a really good experience and I would definitely recommend this practice. The office staff is wonderful and so supportive. They go way above and beyond, and Dr. Pysher honestly cares about you.

I live in the Tampa area (recently moved up here from Miami) and I'm having my first appointment with Dr. Dietrich, associated with Advent health, in a few days... I wanted to know if anyone has had their surgery with him? Or any consultations with him? I was also told that Dr. Mooney, associated with Tampa General Hospital, is a surgeon to look up as well. I live south of Houston. Had my sleeve done in July. My surgeon is Dr. Khoi Du with Surgical Specialist of Houston. He did an amazing job! Just wanted to put that out there for any future sleevers who are in this area and looking for a great surgeon.

Has anyone used Advent Health Celebration or Orlando Health for their surgery?

Hello, I am going to be self pay since my insurance excludes bariatric surgery. I am looking for a recommendation for a surgeon that was a good price and had a great experience. I am willing to travel North or South in FL. In my area (Orlando) the average price for self pay is approx. $14,500. There is a surgery center that does the sleeve as an out-patient procedure. I am a little hesitation about that. It is around $10,500. Thank you! =)

Dr. George Zorn III, MD at Scripps in San Diego is phenomenal! He’s been doing the Gastric Bypass surgery for over 20yrs, and has been doing the Sleeve since it was introduced. Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a while and wanted to give an update on my sleeve journey. I am just over 2 years post op now and have lost a total of 169 pounds! Literally lost half of me! I feel amazing! If you're considering WLS I highly recommend Dr. Jorge Maytorena and his team. They were absolutely wonderful, very caring team for sure. And they did everything from my preop testing to my recovery and leak test right in the same hospital. I will add a before and current pic below. This has not been an easy journey, but 100% worth it! I had a robotic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy with Dr. Michael Michelle at the Summerville Medical Center in South Carolina. I really loved my experience with Dr. Michael and the team at the Coastal Carolina Bariatric and Surgical Center. Every member of the team is helpful and supportive. I give my surgeon and the bariatric center a 5/5. With regard to the Summerville Medical Center, I would give it a 2.5. I did not feel there was adequate nursing staff overnight. Due to this, I had to unhook and reattach my own IPC device multiple times during the night because I had to use the bathroom frequently (due to the IV).

I had my surgery at Bailey Medical in Owasso, OK. Dr. Steven B. Katsis was my surgeon, he was actually suggested to me by my orthopedic doctor, he and Dr. Katsis are very good friends. From the moment I met Dr. Katsis I could tell he was genuine in his compassion and care about his bariatric patients. He and his staff made sure I understood all the steps and the encouragement they provide is a key part of success. I had a very smooth surgery with no complications. If you are in the Tulsa area, I highly recommend him and Bailey Medical.

Dr. Christopher Carlson performed my gastric sleeve surgery on December 10th, 2019. His honesty and bedside manner is what I appreciate most about him. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything, yet he is able to put my mind at ease with his positive attitude. I had no complications, besides not doing well with the morphine they gave me after surgery. After the dry heaving from the pain medicine subsided, my pain was minimal, and my incisions healed quickly. Dr. Carlson and his team prepared me as much as possible before the surgery, and they made sure I had all the information I needed after the surgery. I would highly recommend him to anyone in the Augusta area and beyond.

Has anyone had Dr. Luis Benevente from Elkhart, Indiana perform a Gastric Sleeve? And did you have to go through the BMI center for your pre-op visits? Were they any good? Did they give you any counseling on what to nutrition and teach the proper ways to eat? Or did they just kinda throw you out there and expect you to know what to do?

I recently went to Monmouth Medical Center Bariatric centers seminar and you had to sign up for it and there was only 2 of us that signed up and only I showed up and the nurse and a few other staff where there and they said that the doctors where still in surgery and mind you it was 7pm and there was at least 4 surgeons. My thing is I had a feeling that since there was only two people I felt like the surgeons couldn’t be bothered to come for so few people.
