I hit my surgiversary on January 6, 2017 with 100 lbs lost. I had a total of 4 surgeries last year which slowed my weightloss down. One of those surgeries was losing my gallbladder on Oct 1, 2016. Since my diet was small portions with high Protein, low carbs, and low fat, it wasn't a problem for me after my gallbladder surgery. I incorporate my daily activities with walking and when the weather is good, I ride my bike. Since my weight came off at a slower rate, I don't have a lot of sagging skin. I need to tone my arms. That's about all. A nurse practitioner told me that I need to only eat protein and not worry about my veggies because I get nutrients from my Vitamins. I …

I have been putting off getting a new swimsuit for laps after my other one got too big, and I had surgery which has kept me out of the pool for quite a while. I couldn't find anything I liked in town (and the prices were astronomical) so I went online to Swimsuitsforall.com and found some cute suits. Got a size 10 per their measurement guidelines. Received them in the mail today and tried them on - too big!!! For the first time in my life I didn't have enough butt to fill the seat of the suit!! I am sending them back for smaller suits --- how sweet it is

Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice. I had my lap band procedure done almost 7 months ago. I'm only down about 25 lbs. I work out 3-4 times a week ( just started this about 2 months ago). I know I'm going through "the change". Im thinking this may be having an impact on my low weight loss. I'm getting very discouraged, any ideas would be appreciated. So I'm 4 weeks out as of tomorrow and 24 pounds down! this morning I woke up and went to the gym as per usual and on my way home I realized how much I was smiling and how good I felt. I have been struggling a lot with depression and anxiety for the past 2 and a half years and it felt so incredible realizing that I feels like I'm finally reaching the end of that dark tunnel! I was told to stop my medication for the first two months post op which was terrifying to me a few weeks back, but now realizing how insanely well I've been doing emotionally the past couple of weeks feels like one of my biggest accomplishments so far without a doubt! I've been around for a bit, so I thought I would give you all a little insight into the insane inner working of my brain. I was sleeved on 10/26/2016, but in my previous incarnation, I was a nearly 300lb woman who when fed up with her situation, got her feelings hurt, and turned to the interweb of strangers to share my journey. Yes...a blogger. I blogged for years about losing the same 25-30lbs over 7 years, cried about injustices, shared my victories and my disdain for WLS. I love/loved my blog. I met amazing people and while I lost very little weight over the years, there were changes to mindset...some major, some still a work in progress. Today, I ran across an…

Today marks three months since I had my sleeve surgery on October 11 - Yom Kippur Day, and my personal day of atonement. I've come a long way since then, and since I began this effort in June of last year. I do not mind saying I started out with a considerable amount of trepidation, even fear of the surgery and the possible complications or side effects which could result. I am grateful to my Lord and God that none of that arose. It has been an exceptionally smooth process and recovery. As of this writing, I am down 125 lbs (I checked this morning), putting me at a svelte 356 lbs. When I lose another 9 lbs post surgery loss will equal pre surgery loss, and I am exci…

  25. If you are like me before surgery, you are searching the internet like crazy to see if this sleeve thing works. I also hate lengthly stories that make me skim and scan for relevant info through wordy explanations. So.... here are my main points of what I have learned about living with sleeve surgery in almost two years. 1. My "honeymoon" was only six months (that's it). The scale hasn't budged after the first six months post surgery. So use your honeymoon wisely. This really bugged me for awhile until I read about how our bodies respond to the extreme restriction of calories. Your metabolism will slow to a halt eventually and even though I can not eat a lot now, …

So I had my sleeve done on Oct 4th, 2016. This was the best decision I've made for myself in along time. Even though I had a bowel obstruction 1 month after surgery, not having a bowel movement is a key,...lol, I would've had the obstruction without the surgery. It had nothing to do with the surgery. I got back up on my feet and hit the ground running, literally. Since starting the process in may 2016, today, I've lost 102lbs. I started in a 3xxxl, and I'm not in a size 10jeans. I'm really afraid, and wanna ask this question. Tell me if it's stupid....lol. is there a chance that your stomach can be to tight? Like the surgery itself? I mean, I know it's only been 3 months,…

A dress I was able to find in their clearance section in a size 12! I was so excited!! Shopping has been so awkward actually looking in the "standard size" sections and grabbing a size too big instead of too small. I hear more successful stories then non but for the ones where they only lost 15lbs in a year why ?? I'm getting banded on the 8th. This is my last chance. If this does not work I don't know what will happen , I need it to work and need to know what you guys did and didn't do to have so much success So for all you who have done so well can you pleas share with a newbie... Ok, today is my 13 week surgiversary and weight loss in the last few weeks has put me at a stall. I started losing again about two days ago and I am officially 61lbs down. This is not my exciting news. The exciting part is that my primary doc just updated all my blood work and My A1c came in at 6.0, which is (barely)considered normal/non-diabetic. I have been off my diabetic meds for 15 weeks. I used to take a pill twice a day and a shot once a week, but for the time being I'm off all medication! There has also been a reduction in my cholesterol of 26 points! Thank you to all of you who keep me encouraged. Also sharing a before and current pic!

Hello!! I've had a few episodes of my blood sugar going as low as 45...I am guessing it is reactive hypoglycemia due to symptoms that happen alongside the low number. My questions: 1.anyone else dealing with this? I am almost 18mos out from bypass. 2. What do you eat when you are super low that brings sugars up but not too high, perpetuating the cycle? 3. Once there was a CLEAR reason: I sort of let myself get guilted into eating a slice of birthday cake; but the other times I really don't know what caused the low blood sugars. I am trying to get into a nutritionist but with my work schedule I am having difficulty. Any thoughts or inputs would be greatly appreciat…

I was sleeved on 12/13/16 and it has been a lot easier than I thought it would be. I am quickly realizing this will be one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I started my pre-op diet at 255 and did not lose a great deal on that. (My pre-op was not super strict, high Protein and very low carb two weeks prior) I weighed in surgery day at 250 if I remember correctly. Fast forward through all the boring recovery junk, which was mild for me in comparison to some I have read about. I am now on puréed foods, finally able to get all my liquids and protein in and that is a full time job. I am walking close to 2 miles a day, hoping to build up to 3 in the next week. I …

Hey everyone, I had my surgery in June of last year, and I've lost almost 75 pounds. Which has been great, and tbh, I haven't really worked out, which isn't great. But I will now, I really want to tone up and gain some muscle. But I've had an unforeseen complication that I wasn't aware of, despite my research before hand. My blood pressure is now constantly low, which it wasn't before the procedure. Sometimes it drops really low and I almost pass out, I get cold sweats, feel nauseous, hands have gotten numb. I can't tell if its a combination of the low bp plus dehydration, if its a lack of nutrition, I don't know, I made an appointment with my surgeon later this week…

I've lost more than 50 pounds, but I swear this is the first time I've REALLY felt it: sitting on an airplane and easily putting on the seatbelt. Not only did I put it on [something I couldn't always do before QQ] but I put it on without tugging, pulling, or "sucking it in". And then, when I dropped my tray table, it didn't immediately bounce back up off my belly -- NAY! THERE WAS ROOM BETWEEN THE TOP OF MY THIGHS AND THE TRAY TABLE! I can't remember the last time I could use a tray table on an airplane. It's dumb, but it's horribly exciting.
