So now that I've lost my goal weight, and kept it off for 3 years, I don't know what to do with myself. I can't afford surgery, so it looks like i will never get the body I dreamed of, and I hit the gym 5 times a week, but that can only do so much. I also noticed that I can eat, and drink so much more now, and it scares me. How do you all handle being done with your journey? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

Seven weeks out and 35 pounds down from surgery weight, 51 pounds down from my highest weight. I am absolutely giddy and gobsmacked over how this is going so far. When I started, I was wearing size 44 men's cargo pants, and I'm currently in size 42 cargo pants. That said, I can pull those pants off and on without undoing the button or zipper. I'm focusing on Protein, and I know how expensive that can be when you're having to do something like that. Last night, I hit my favorite local Korean market, Super H Market, and bought a couple salmon heads for a whopping $.99 a pound. I like to steam them, so the meat is nice and soft. You just have to be careful taking th…

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my progress with all of you! I started liquid diet about 20 days before my surgery where I lost 10kg ( 22 pounds) I started at 137kg (302 pounds). I had my surgery on 9th Oct 2016 that's just over 2 months ago. Today morning I weighed at 103kg (227 pounds). I lost about 35kg (78 pounds) in 2 months. I am so happy about this. My short term milestone is to break the 100kg to be in the 2 digits! I've attached an image from my weight log. Though I only started logging a little after I started the liquid diet, 7kgs missing from the start. Sent from my Pixel XL using the BariatricPal App

Gosh, I am so happy right now. I'm so glad I decided to do this, especially now. I'm 25 years old, and I've been overweight since age 17. I was always thin as a kid and a teenager (I even suffered from anxiety that led to anorexia at age 10). Who would have thought that a once anorexic person could be obese? I packed on a whopping 50 pounds in only 3 months during my Senior year of high school because I was put on oral steroids for sinus issues. I went from a size 6 in pants, to a size 12. I was mortified, but I couldn't stop eating. My highest weight was 255, while I was only 125 at age 15. That means I put on 130 pounds in 10 years. I was diagnosed with Pseudotumor cer…

I am just days away from 2 months out, but wanted to share my favorite NSV so far. I am a Type 2 diabetic who has been on Metformin for 10 years and a Bydureon non-insulin injectable for 2 years. Even while on medication my average fasting blood sugar was 140. I was taken off all medications during my pre-surgery liquid phase with the docs intention to add them back in slowly once we had a better idea of where I would be post-op. 2 months later and not only am I not on meds, but my fasting blood sugar was 85 this morning. Thank God I went forward with this surgery. If I never lose another pound this alone would be worth it.

Hi there! I've been reading and looking at plenty of great stories and advice on this website. I decided I should put up my progress so far. I started at 243lbs and now I'm at about 199lbs. My sleeve surgery was October 25th, 2016, and I started pre op exactly 1 week before that on the 18th. So, I guess I've lost like 44lbs in about 8 weeks. Feeling pretty good and looking forward to losing the next 40lbs. Starting Weight 243lbs Current Weight: 199lbs Weight lost: 44lbs (8 weeks) Height: 5'5 Age: 20

By no means am I at goal, but I'd you would have told me on Sept 26th that is be 50lbs lighter before Christmas, I would have told you that you're insane. Yet here i am! I have 60 more to go before I'm at goal, but for the first time in my life, I can see myself getting there. That's a lot to wrap my head around. The lowest weight I ever remember being is 186 in 6th grade. So pictures are worth 1000 words. The first pic was July 1st, two weeks before my first appt with the surgeon. The second was tonight. Earlier today I posted a then/now style picture to a bariatric FB group and to my own personal FB page. I see myself small changes but I do not see the major difference that other people seem to gush over. I know it's there, because I am down sizes and the clothes I can't seem to part with drape like crazy. I like to do the side by side pic just to see and today it kinda floored me. As soon as I posted, I got the "You look amazing" "You look fantastic". In my head, I followed up every compliment with "in comparison". Because of this, I am changing my strategy. This journey is NOT about how I look, it's about changing my life and how I feel in my own skin. So f…

So I am coming up to 5 months post op now and have had my first post op blood done with excellent news. The numbers are whatever we use in Australia so they may not make a lot of sense to those of you in USA unfortunately. So hba1c ( I am a diabetic) has gone from 8.5% to 7.0% and I have stopped all insulin and oral medications. Just on diet alone now. Total Cholesterol down from 8.5 mmol to 4.0 (4.0 is considered normal here) Ratios for the cholesterol measures are all in the excellent range Liver enzymes down from 156 to 126 (normal is 115 maximum) ... so I still have a little way to go there but I am happy considering how many blood pressure tablets I was taking a…

  20. I run my own business. I am the only employee, with the exception of Mrs. LittleBill, who maintains the books, and occasionally helps me schlep a heavy board around, or haul a piece of furniture to a customer. The doc gave me an extra long prognosis for recovery because of all the heavy lifting I do, so I planned to be off from work until after New Years for a couple of reasons. Today, since I have been recently cleared for some more action, I found myself in the shop eyeing up a piece of wood that has been sitting on the bench for a long time, waiting for my vision to become reality. I figured, why not? I got all my stuff together, and prepared to make art. A re…

I have always had a very addictive/ extreme personality and this journey has been bringing it out of me very much. I rarely eat over 400 calories a day (surgery on November 7th) my recovery was very smooth and since day 3 I began walking and slowly(ish) but surely I have been adding on to it and I'm speed walking/ working on a stationary bike everyday and never getting less then an hour and forty minutes of physical activity every day. I'm extremely proud of myself already- with that being said I also feel VERY guilty when I eat more then 400 calories a day and I don't burn at least 600 calories a day. I'm meeting my Protein and Water goals almost everyday and generally s…

Hi there, just a quick question. I'm 5 weeks post op from having the sleeve done. Developed a lactose intolerance when I started on my dairy, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese. Doing better if I take a lactose medication before I eat. But the last two weeks I'm constantly nauseated. If I eat, if I don't eat, and I have absolutely NO appetite. My tastebuds have changed and everything tastes awful. Has anyone experienced any of this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've been told to take pictures all along this journey , but that is one area I have avoided ! That is until yesterday , and I have to say I was astounded with the results ! I have to encourage everyone to take these pictures because they really give you the motivation you may sometimes need ! Plus it really is a positive reinforcement that your journey is going down the right path ! I'm currently down 66 lbs, 1/2 way to my goal ... I can't wait to see the finished product ! 30. It has been almost 10 months since I had the sleeved and I am down 171 pounds 14 sizes down and total body loss 127 inches. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and follow the program. The sleeve is not going to do all of the work for you but if you work for it you can achieve your desired results. Wish I would have done this 10 years ago.

  38. Greetings fellow Sleevers, On the eve of my 7 month anniversary I wanted to share some of my personal experiences, challenges and thoughts on the future. My goal was to share something with a particular focus on the fellas. Husky being the preferred euphemism when we want to gently want to refer to overall fatness. I started this process on May 4, and I had my surgery on September 12. In between, I lost 56 pounds. Since the surgery, I'm down another 39. I went from 5'5" and 285 to 5'5" and 190. I've lost 10 inches off my waist and went from a XXXL to a large. I stepped back through my old wardrobe so quickly that things I thought would fit for a while no longer fit at all, and I have to start from scratch on my wardrobe. My glucose is 92, I'm off the CPAP, I'm off the cholesterol drug on a trial basis. I look better than I have since high school. I go hiking multiple times a week, I swim multiple times a week, I just bought a kayak. And I'm still losing weight. The 100-pounds-lost m…

  44. Well, it has now been 1 year since my gastric bypass surgery. Looking back, the year really flew by. There were ups and downs along the way, but I wouldn't change a thing about it... well, my only regret is not getting the surgery done sooner. I have stuck to my diet, which is primarily vegan/vegetarian, for the entire year. I don't crave junk food and really feel like I've hit a groove and can keep this up for life. It's no longer a diet... it's simply the way I eat now. A year ago I thought a lot about my own funeral... I was convinced I'd die by the time I hit 50. Not healthy thoughts for a 35 year old with 4 kids. I pictured my parents, brothers, kids and wi…

Hi All ! I'm scheduled to have RNY on the 17th of June. I am 339, 5'4", 48. I look like the Michelin Man, lots of folds. Now my breasts already hang very low, point south and they're large. They get in the way of my arms as they seem to fall to the side of me. I HATE them, always have. Some time after RNY, how do your breasts take the weight loss? Do some just fill back up? Do some go completely flat? Do some shrink and look perky? What happens to your breasts long after surgery?
