I'll be 2 years out in about two weeks. My hair is still falling out. It did stop about 15 months in but started back up this last March. I've lost about 130lbs. I also have PCOS and Hashimoto's but had this previously and maintained thick curly hair with no issues. I've been to several doctors with varying opinions...my PCP offered me a wig brochure. ???? It's definitely not to that point yet. My b12 was slightly low but nothing outrageous. My Iron comes back on the lower side of normal but my ferratin levels are a bit low. I've added in tons of supplements recently to see if that helps. It is very depressing going from tons of long lovely hair to short, thinning, dry ha…

Well I haven't been on her for so long and it is good to read all of your posts! My surgery date was actually June 7, 2013 I have been out of town but for some reason I really wanted to share a little of my journey. I started this journey actually 2 years before I had the surgery. It took me that long to make the decision that once I had my surgery I would never turn back to my old eating patterns. Making such a change to your body was something I took very seriously and played the head games for 2 years. You know..........You can do this just eat right, exercise stay with the program! I was at the gym 3 times a week and trying so hard. I managed to lose about 25 …

On my own, several years ago I was able to lose 70 lbs on my own. I didn't do it in a healthy way. I basically stopped eating. I might have gotten in 300 cals a day and was a gym junkie. My hair fell out and I was so malnourished that when I stood up in my sisters wedding, I fainted mid ceremony. I then met the love of my life and got happy and ate again and gained it all back. 10 years later I had gained a lot more and was at my heaviest. I got sleeved 4/20 and I'm officially down to the max I was able to lose before! 70 down and counting! I've lost a lot less hair, I feel so much better, and my quality of life has improved greatly! Every pound from here on out is…

Hi everyone. I had my sleeve in October of 2011. I lost almost 100 lbs and was doing great! I had been able to keep it off pretty well for a while and was feeling really good. Then, in 2014 I started developing a rash around where my excess skin was on my stomach. My surgeon told me the only way to get rid of the rash was to have the excess skin removed. So, in October of 2014, I had the skin removed and a diastase fixed. A few months later, I developed lymphocytic colitis and SIBO but took over a year to finally get rid of them! Finally, those issues are resolved but in the meantime, I've gained back about 25 lbs since then. I'm looking for motivation and suggestions to …

I just had to share -- I am now shopping for my pants in the "Misses" selection instead of "Women's." Two pair of J.Jill XL pants just arrived, and they are loose on me. I now wear a Misses size large in pants (first time in close to 20 years). I am almost embarrassed by how happy this makes me. I have always been busty (and the girls have not gone anywhere yet, even 90 pounds down), and I have a tummy, so I am still wearing 1X on top. But I love showing off the shape of my legs. I do wish I had a bum. It's difficult finding pants that fit correctly in the caboose. But I love my legs again, and that is so happy-making! I know I can't be alone. And I know I wi…

Hi all...it's been a while since I've been here. Just wanted to give a before/after update. O had my surgery June, 2014. My highest weight was 270, and my lowest has been 188...I'm now at 210-212. It's a struggle everyday, but my goal is to get back under 200 lbs. I've kicked up my cardio and added some weight training...The first pic was taken May, 2012 and the other May, 2016...Not bad but still have some work to do..Staying encouraged! as you know i've been having a running commentary on this "too skinny" thing. at first when people started saying that shit to me, i was like screw you. im not too skinny you're just used to seeing me fat! but that was at 160, 150 etc. but today i took a pic and **I** actually felt like i looked too skinny. and i don't know why cuz i felt amazing all weekend. now i know clothes make a diff and i'm wearing sized 10 pants today cuz clothes are expensive tho i wear a size 7/8. to that end i kept thinking once i get to size 6 im done that's wear i wanna be. and someone said to me umm you need to order that size 6 cuz i think you're there you just don't have the clot…

Can anyone who started around 350-380 and had an apron belly show me result pics without tummy tuck? Thanks. I'm petrified my apron belly will disallow me to drop sizes in my pants to excess skin. Working beyond grief for a better life!

I'm just wondering if anybody else is going thru this or have been thru it. I had my op on 6th may 2016.....I dropped from 19 stone 2 pound to 17 stone 11 pounds in 2 weeks.......I'm now 18 stone and the weight isn't moving.....I fluctuate from 17.12 to 18.1......I paid privately for my surgery after selling my house, and I'm beginning to think that this has been a complete waste of money as have all the fad diets I've been on......am I just one of those people who just can't lose the weight?? Help!!! I converted from Lapband to bypass 3wks ago and at my 2wk appt my doc ok'd me to have Wendy's chili and chicken and ground turkey etc as long as I chewed it well. I'm assuming she transitioned me because I had a previous surgery. However, preop included I lost 39lbs but since real food I'm back up 4lbs. I know about the 3 week stall but wouldn't I had lost more staying on liquids/ purée/soft food stage longer. I feel like my doc sabotaged me. Anyone else transitioned early per doc and gained? Had my post 3 months follow up with my surgeon. I'm happy and he is happy! I lost 50% of my excess weight My labs are now Perfect! (only exception is my Thyroid, an ongoing issue for me) Prior my op, I was heading towards Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. Now my liver is happy too Prior my op, I was getting to a pre-diabetic stage. Now my Pancreas and blood sugar levels are also happy My cholesterol levels are getting healthy My hair has thickened and growing like crazy Although I no longer have reflux, due to Nexium PPI, I was told I need to stay on it for 12 months. I follow all the guidelines and recommendations from my surgeon, my dietician (NUT) and my bariat…

For anyone that missed it, my PCP tested my hormone levels awhile back and turns out I had low testosterone (normal is 20-80 and mine was 11) so I started testosterone replacement therapy. A few weeks after starting HRT, I was putting on my "fancy with the bling on the pockets, can't even wear underwear cause they're so tight" jeans to go to a Kentucky Derby party. Surprisingly, they weren't really that tight. And standing in front of the mirror, I noticed my collar bones were a little more prominent and my ribs were pokin out. So the next Monday at work I stepped on the scale and it read 135. The lowest number I've ever seen and that was after a weekend of consuming…

Hi Friends, so I'm 4 and a half months post gastric bypass, down right around my goal weight though I have gained for the first time, about 5 lbs, but we're holding well. Anyway, believe it or not I never considered that there would be loose skin/stretch marks like there are now, and well I don't them much.... so I asked the surgery team what can be done and she said I have to wait another year and half then ask again....she said 2 years at goal weight THEN they talk surgery to deal with loose skin. So I'd like to know if anyone has had follow up surgeries to take care of or to lessen the effects of the loose skin and stretch marks?? Please share what your …

I am 3 weeks post op and everything is going great. My insurance is Medicaid in Colorado and I had a 6 month waiting period. I had to take nutrition classes for 6 months before they would approve surgery and I had to be at or below my starting weight by the last nutrition class. My starting weight was 389lbs Dec. 2015. Surgery was on June 13th. Weight day of surgery was 325lbs. Today I weigh 309lbs and am losing roughly 1-1.5lbs/day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am almost at my 10 month bandiversary and fast approaching a year post op and I am sooooo happy with my results! I have been lucky so far, that the road was pretty smooth, I did have two unfills following two really uncomfortable spouts of vomiting and not being able to eat or even drink at one point but I am back on track now I am down 77 lbs / 35kilos Gone from bursting out of size 20 trousers to jumping in size 10 Lost 5 inches from my bust 11 inches from my waist 10 inches from my hips 3.5 inches from each arm 7 inches from each leg upper thigh And I cannot believe it, I would never have guessed I could be here in only 10 months. Last year this time I was frantically getting ready for surgery and focusing on getting my business in a position it could run itself for the 6 weeks I thought I might be out of commission. Turned out I only ended up not working for about a day Anyway, last year I went to a summer fair 4th of July weekend and walking around and stuff was pretty tough. It was hot and humid and I was carry my portable chair with me for concerts. It was hellish. This year I am down over 135lbs from my high weight and bursting with ungodly amounts of energy. I plan on having a good time this weekend. This includes kayaking, bike riding, and climbing those hills at that summer festival t…

My health is so much better. No diabetes, no more insulin shots, no more sleep apnea, no more neuropathy of the feet. I exercise & eat right. I'm so greatful for my 2nd chance at life. Ok so I started the process on January 26. Had my first EGD done and then started my pre op diet so I would be ready after the results came in. The week before my surgery my results came back with some disorder that I could not have the surgery. I was insistent that something could be done. So I was put on high dose nexium for 30 days and then a second EGD was done. It showed I was healing so I was cleared! The whole time I stayed on a kind of diet so I could avoid stomach acid flare up. Finally I got a date but it was still 3 weeks away. But I stuck to it. And when the surgery date came my surgeon Had not seen me in almost 90 days. When he saw I lost 30 pounds on my own …

I have shopped at Women Within, Romans, Catherine's, and the Avenue so long I don't know where else to go. I am getting to the point happily where I'm in the smallest sizes at some of the above mentioned stores. I have been buying workout clothes at Kohl's but am not fond of a lot of their normal clothes options. Would love to hear where people started shopping when they were still plus size but not super plus. Thanks!

My weight gain journey began in May, 2013. I was exposed to black mold a few months prior in our master bathroom of a house we had just purchased. Unaware of it of course. May 2013, I had to have half of my right lung removed. After the lung removal I was forced to take nine months of oral steroids. During this nine months I gained another person in weight. September 2014, I was well enough to finally have the sleeve done. I tried to lose the weight on my own but anyone who has been on steroids for that length of time knows it is nearly impossible. I have since lost that extra person I gained. And couldn't be happier. The first picture was taken by my sur…

Hey everyone. Im new in here. Im looking for answers to a few things. My girlfriend her her Gastric Sleeve operation in Greece the 31/05 - 2016. Everything went well, and she was up and walking around within 2-3 days. We then went home and she started loosing weight and everything was good. Then 9 days post surgery, she started having left shoulder pains. Then we rushed to ER with 40.2 celcious fever. They admited her, and they did a xray, and they dident see much. Then the day after they thought it was a leak or an abscess. So the CT scan was right. She had an abscess close to the liver. They drained it, and they did a "air test" and there was no leak. Then she was on…

Just wanted to put this out there. Today, I reached my 60lb weight loss goal. Still have 30 or so to go. But after a 3 month stall, I didn't think the scale would ever move again. Don't give up and don't get upset if you hit a stall. As long as you are doing what you're supposed to be doing, the scale will move -- EVENTUALLY. Good things come to those who wait. Thank you SLEEVE!

Please share either upcoming milestones or ones already achieved. Here are a few of mine. First time CHEWING food post op 100 lbs lost 200 lbs lost Breaking into the 200's Buying an XL shirt at a store that didn't have BIG or TALL in the name And coming up in 32 lbs...Being literally "Half the Man" I used to be. Sometimes jumping up and down, and shouting for joy needs to be shared with others...and sometimes others jump higher and shout louder than we did for ourselves.

Just wanted to post a quick update on my progress. Aside from feeling like I just became 20 years younger.... I've lost a ton and am still losing. On July 7 of 2015 I was 320 lbs, I'm 208 today. Waist size went from a 56 to a 40 (and 40 is a tad large). To say the least I'm feeling wonderful and life is great. Overall I've had zero complications. My Diabetes type II is gone completely, blood pressure went from 145/90 to 115/60 ish. Cholesterol is great, feel fantastic and pretty much all the "getting older" body pains have just about disappeared. The best analogy I can come up with for people is that your body is like a machine. If it's clogged up with g…

I am hopefully getting vsg in August (not scheduled yet.). My concern is that I've lost 130 lbs on my own without surgery in the past. I've since put back on half of that amount. Nothing I did to lose weight before works now so I decided to get sleeved. Will I have the same problem as the ppl who are 2-3 years out and not lose after surgery?
