I'm going through preop with dr. Podkemeni here in arizona. So far the program, staff, and surgeons all seem amazing. I'm very nervous but also very excited to be making this life change. I'm only 24 but have been obese my whole life and most recently labeled as super morbidly obese. I know it's time for a change I just hope I can do it and stick to it for life! I had to drop off a prescription today while on my lunch break. I walk up to the automatic doors and darn near run face first into the glass. It's not one of the pressure pad type doors, rather it is the black eye above the door type. I take a step back and wait for it to open and nothing happens. I have to wave my hands for a moment before it recognizes anyone is there! I'm sure that it was just dirty, but for a moment I thought that I was too small to register!

My name is Mo. I had my surgery on 11/5/15. I'm about 4 months out and 55lbs down. What an awesome feeling. At first I thought to myself what the hell did I do to myself. I just knew I'd given myself some sort of eating disorder but that was not the case. God has allowed me to modify my eating and start to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And the results are fantastic!!! They calling me skinny now the top spot before and the bottom is after Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Started this lap band to sleeve journey at 355 on Jan 4th by going on a low carb diet. 299 this morning. Lost 30 lbs pre-op followed by 26 since surgery on March 1st. I rarely feel hungry. So far, so good! If you're wondering if you should do it....DO IT!!

I just wanted to show off some pictures from my December 27th wedding! Having weight loss surgery really changed my life. My husband has been with me through thick and thin....litterally. I just asked him the other night if he would still love me if I would get fat again and he said, "yes, but you know you wouldn't love yourself". He knows me so well!!

Small victory today. My stall is over and now I'm 33 pounds down since surgery about 2.5 weeks ago. Two things I've really noticed so far: shoes are too big and my towel wraps around my body without giving anybody a peep show. Happy Dance

I hope this comes off as inspirational and not bragging I had sleeve surgery March 31, 2015. So almost a year already! I started at 232 and today was 131.6!!!!! My goal was 150. I'm 5'3" and 45 yrs old. I was an athlete at 200 so that plays a big role in my success I think. But mainly, I just follow the rules. I still struggle with hydration. Had my first blood work since surgery and everything was perfect! So proud of that because it shows I'm doing things right as far as my Vitamin routine and Protein goals go. You can do it, too! It isn't always easy but I like being thin. I do struggle A LOT with body image issues, confusion about my size and feeling like I'm…

Help! I've been cheating for 2 weeks! Having a little carb fest over here and slacking on exercising. Thank goodness it's only translated to gaining a pound or two SO FAR but I need to get back on track! I'm wasting my honeymoon phase and I'm only half way there! I had the best luck in the past with Hcg since you lose so quickly and it kept me so motivated. This sleeve is so boringly, painfully slow that I've lost my momentum. You're my support group since I didn't tell anyone - good thing since I don't wanna hear the " you got that radical surgery for only 35 pounds?!?!" (Since that's all I've lost so far) I needed to 'fess up so I'm doing it here. Maybe it's tim…

So I'm super excited. I teach at a University, and I had a Psychology professor with whom I am friends on facebook, etc. come up to me yesterday and tell me that my story and weight loss journey has been such an inspiration to her to watch. She teaches the Psychology of Change and asked me if I would come to her class as a guest speaker and talk to the students about what motivated me to change and what has maintained the motivation for the long-term changes for almost 3-years now. It's not so much about surgery, because, let's face it, surgery is the tool that got things started, but whether or not we choose to make long term changes to be successful is up to us. An…

Can you recommend some good Instagram accounts to follow that post a lot of WLS success, encouragement and tips? The ones I'm following are total cheaters that post crappy food all the time! What is wrong with these people? Why post your cheats!!! It's very sabotaging to their followers. Thanks!!

I am just starting my road to wls and have to do 5 more months of dr supervised diet. But my surgeon does not require a pre-op diet. In some ways that is awesome (no 2 weeks of shakes and STARVING). And other ways has me wondering. I trust my surgeon. He is very knowledgeable and is not concerned about the size of my liver during surgery. Suggested I don't eat 2 pieces of cheesecake night before surgery but other than that not to worry about it. I'd like to know the success stories of those who didn't have a pre-op diet. Thanks! p.s. I might do my own liquid diet a couple days before surgery just in case

I'm about 3 1/2 months post surgery and I have noticed that I wake up feeling kind of angry and put out at inconveniences and I was never like that before. Well, I was probably so drugged with food and carbs that I didn't notice it. I've been taking Probiotics since surgery which I thought would help but this negative attitude is interfering with work relationships not being as happy go lucky as I was. i've read lots of articles that changing the biology of your gut changes your mood and that kind of thing and I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed that since surgery and if so what might be a good cure other than yogurt and probiotics. According to this ar…

I am down 37 lbs since my surgery 2 months ago and am only 13 lbs to go to my goal weight. I am ecstatic! You know the feeling when you get something new that you love, like a new phone or a new car? I feel like that every.day. The weight has just melted off, and the changes it has made in me are not small! I do my hair and makeup now, I wear cute clothes and jewelry, and it's fun! Before I would just wear stretchy yoga pants (because my jeans no longer fit and I couldn't stand the thought of buying a large new pair), and a plain t-shirt. I was just so frumpy and didn't care about how I looked at all. I had given up on myself. Now, I work harder at my job, I enjo…

There is probably a thread about this somewhere, but my search function isn't working right. Has anyone struggled with IBS pre-op and then have it resolved as a result of WLS? I have a particularly nasty case of IBS that seems to be brought on by particular foods as well as hormones and emotions. My nutritionist thought that dietary changes through the WLS process would resolve IBS, like how WLS can help resolve diabetes. Is this even a possibility? Have you had this experience?

I was leaving work yesterday after a long day. Tired. Ready to get to my vehicle and make the interstate commute home. Was already thinking about my playlist for the ride home. I am a production supervisor in a large manufacturing plant. At one time, I seemed to know everyone there....and know them fairly well. The place has expanded and grown significantly over the years. Lots of new faces. So, I'm walking down the main aisle with my tired mind lost in my thoughts about my music and a couple phone calls I needed to make to arrange some schedule changes. Waving at and speaking briefly with some folks as I walked on by. Nearing the main plant entrance I hea…

Its been a long time coming and a huge victory on my journey to reach one-derland and today it happened! I am 11 months out from surgery and down 123 lbs total. By far the best decision I ever made for myself! How has the surgery changed your life?

I have not wanted to have my picture taken for over 20 years. Now after losing 160 pounds, I traveled to Washington DC to meet with my Senators about topics very important to my heart and soul. They took pictures and for the first time not only did I not shy away from the camera but I actually was willing to share it through social media. This is the first time I have ever done that. I still have a lot to lose, but this is huge for me. I do a lot of advocacy and have always done it in the background. Now I finally feel comfortable being in the spotlight. Who else is now willing to have their pic taken?

Well what an awesome 3 months it has been for me. I know that deciding to have the VSG surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and the very best decision for my heath. I will list a few of my stats below since I haven't done this at 1 & 2 months. I haven't measured yet, but as soon as I do, I will update that also. But first, I want to say Thank You for this online community. The challenges, check-in's and conversations with people really help in all of our goals! We might be able to do this on our own without BP, but it sure makes it easier to read that others are going through the same things you are! Many Thanks!! Heighest Weight: 325.0 …

I have been stuck on a stall since the beginning of January and have only managed to knock off 10lbs or so in that time. So frustrating, especially because I was stalled at 253-- and being under 250 was a HUGE milestone for me. This morning I weighed in at 249!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited- I haven't weighed under 250 since high school (20 years ago!) HOLY CRAP GUYS! I did it- I got under 250

I just received the results from my labs for my four-month post-op follow-up. I have been really happy with my weightloss and how quickly that has translated into an improvement in my life. I can walk and enjoy things in ways that I have not been able to do in years. I, however, am genuinely astounded at how quickly all of my lab tests improved in such a short time after surgery. I went from having incredibly high triglycerides (above 300), high blood sugar (+200, while taking medicine), and very high cholesterol to having normal readings for every category, while being off of all of my medicines. Why on Earth did I resist doing this for so long? It is hard to describe ho…

I haven't posted in a few months, after I retired on December 31st, 2015 I took over as full time Daddy, my wife has successfully begun her career and is on to her way to get her Masters in September this year, I see a lot of new faces on here and some old losers like me so I thought I should give an update, I began my journey in January 2015 @ 388lbs after fighting depression during the previous year holidays ( my entire birth family passed on, father, brother, stepdaughter, and mother, and it was the first anniversary of her death on December 12th 2014), I began dieting before even meeting my surgeon to show I was serious and committed, so when I met him in April 2015 I…

I would love to have some advice from some one who has already had surgery. Someone who I could talk to on a daily basis maybe? Not many people in my family know that I'm having surgery so it be fantastic to have someone to talk to about to it often . It may seem weird but I just hate keeping this to myself.

I had my sleeve on 3rd Sept 2015. I weighed 288 pounds Today I weigh 195 pounds I have lost 93 pounds and have 41 still to lose. Everyone says how much better I look, and my head sees that I have dropped from a UK size 24 to a UK size 12 - 14, but I still feel fat. I've got a saggy belly, terrible flabby arms and flabby thighs. I'm doing LOADS of exercise ( 7 or 8 times a week) and have entered a 10km run for charity on 17th April. I am much fitter thanI was before, but I still feel fat. My BMI is still in the OBESE range, and I am desperate to be * just* overweight I think I'm feeling a bit low too, as I've had my first gain after steadily losing ( only a 0.4 pou…

28 year old dude here, HW 347 CW 323 GW 200. I get sleeved in 16 days, and I'm on day 6 of 21 days preop liquid diet. Looking for some inspiration, stories, NSV's, pictures! Anything to keep on my cell phone when cravings arise. I appreciate it! Looking forward to wrestling my life back in order and getting over these food addictions and demons!

Yesterday was the 2 month anniversary of my GSV surgery. I felt like sharing that I was at 58 pounds of weight loss yesterday, 59 pounds as of today! I had set a goal of reaching the 60 pound mark by 2 months, and for all intents and purposes, met my goal. Close enough, anyway! It is easy to stay focused and motivated when I see this kind of result. I have had my plateaus, which everyone knows how aggravating they are, but have managed great weight loss, with a lot of gym time and power walking! Here's to the next 60!

Hey BariatricPal! It's been a while! But, on February 11th, I was sleeved. I wrote about my experience on my blog: pureed foods phases (recipes, ideas) etc. I'd love to hear them!

Doctors in the South, Florida area are starting not to do the lap band procedures anymore. Their saying, its having too many erosions and revisions. Ugh!! Anyhow, I notice in other states within the US they no longer doing lapbands. Anyone else is knows of this too?

Well, today is my 18 month surgiversary. I had my annual physical/18 month check-in with my PCP yesterday. I was sleeved in Mexico, so my PCP has handled my follow-up blood work and such. Everything was great! All of my labs were dead-on perfect other than my non-HDL Cholesterol being a tiny bit to the "low" side. Obviously not a cause for concern. She was thrilled to hear I am training for a half marathon. She wants me to email her and let her know how it goes. She was also happy to hear that I've been maintaining below goal for 6 months now. She has seen me through many of my past weight loss attempts and knows how prone I am to regain. Really happy everything i…

I went to a play tonight with my sister and found myself sitting between her and another gal who was also a large lady. If I hadn't lost all the weight, I would have never fit between them...and all three of us would have been very uncomfortable. Even with my sister and this other lady spilling over into 'my space', I was fine. How many times can I say thank you for this band? How about every single time I fit somewhere that I used to not be able to.

I had this surgery done about two years ago. The lap band with the plication. The truth I have lost a lot of weight but it has made my life kind of miserable in a way. I might want to get the lap band removed. Anyone know if I could get that done and how that would work out? Do they reverse both the plication and the lap band? I believe it is difficult because you want to lose as much weight as possible but at the same time they talk about getting fills and adjustments.

Haven't seen one started yet, so I thought I'd start one for this week. I have a couple of NSVs this week: Finally got my wedding band and engagement ring resized. They were literally falling off. Now that I've been maintaining for 6 months, I figured I'd go ahead and get them sized to their FINAL size. Ran 7 miles for my half marathon training last weekend. Bought a new FitBit Blaze. It arrives today! What were your NSVs this week?

So it warmed up enough today to get the old motorcycle out today. I haven't had it out since my surgery in October. I'm down 88 pounds. Forgot about all my gear! I looked totally ridiculous in my chaps, couldn't even fasten them! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Obviously many of us focus on the scale measurement as our barometer for reaching our goal. I was wondering if you had certain pieces of clothing from the past that were representative of your new goal weight. Scale tells me that I'm 80 lbs out from that point. 80 lbs. I'm not even sure I know what that looks like anymore. It's been a fast paced roller coaster since this bariatric bidness began for me last June.....and faster still since October's surgery. My post-op goal weight is to settle in somewhere in between what I weighed in high school junior and senior years. Surgeon agrees it's a reasonable weight to maintain. What will it look like ? It'…

This morning the scale had some good news...190 lbs lost. 10 lbs till 200! But wait...26 lbs till I break into the 200's!! BUT WAIT...30 lbs. till I'm at the 2/3 of the way there mark. SHAZZAM!!! I usually play little mind games on myself as I count down to the next "little" goal i.e. I won't start the countdown to 200 lost until I'm 9 lbs. away. "I'm NOT paying $10.00 for that!!! Oh, is that ONLY $9.99? I'll take TWO." Ya' know what I mean? So food treats are off the table, and I don't want to buy clothes that I can only wear for a month or two...So how do you reward yourself now?

5 weeks since I've had surgery and I'm here!! Very excited for my future. My husband is deployed now, due to come back in April so I can't wait to surprise him with my weight loss. He just left last Tuesday, so I'm excited to celebrate with everyone here.

Still headed to goal. 6 months out

Does anyone know how many carbs a store bought soup should have on the 5 day pouch test? My book def has a typo as it says 1 grams.
-
I stepped on the scale this morning after over 3 weeks at a stall and....I made it!!!! ONEDERLAND!!!! I CAN'T begin to explain how good it feels (well, I'm sure a lot of you reading can understand). For those of you still pre-op and wondering "am I making the right decision?", I can only say this is one of the best things I've EVER done. Not only am I more confident with the way I look, my health is better than it has been since I was a teenager. Every story/person is different but so far, mine is a success! Hi everyone I was sleeved on 17th March 2015, since then I have lost 250 pounds my partner as she didg understand or approve of my surgery and started a new relationship. Here are my before and after pictures thank you all for your continued support and I look forward to hearing your success stories. Sent from my SM-G925F using BariatricPal
