  1. I've heard the 1st yr is that magic time to lose the weight, but are there people that has lost more weight after the yr mark? I guess my biggest concern is I am getting close to my surgerversery and I still a little more than I want to be. I am about 15 lbs from my Drs goal weight but I am about 35lbs from my dream weight. I had a lot of stressors come around these past couple months so my weight loss has stalled since I fell off the wagon. I am trying to make better choices each and every day now but I want to know there is still hope lol.

This morning I finished 13.1 miles and it was AMAZING!!!! Celebrating 145lbs lost so far....I was able to run with my son on Friday in the Disney kids races and then able to finish my half marathon race today! Tough, emotional, painful....but so rewarding. Highly recommend the RunDisney for anyone looking into racing. This was my second attempt at a half marathon. The picture on the left was about 2 years ago and maybe 80/90lbs heavier. I only made it to mile 9 and my body gave out. Still an amazing experience but nothing on what it felt like today crossing that finish line!

My MIL-to-be took this picture at a family outing today. This is the first time I've really been able to see the progress. First picture was taken September 2015 about 280lbs. The second was taken today (I'll be 3 months post op 4/18) 215.0 lbs. Wearing the same shirt in both pictures... I'm speechless and so glad I did this.

I began my journey with my highest weight being 491.1. I had my surgery date 12/28. As of today, I am at 402.2. I thought I would have lost more but I guess everybody isn't the same and I have to remember I am only 3 months out. I was seeing ppl post 150+ pounds losses and I thought I could achieve that. But these next 3 months I am going to be putting in Major work so that I can achieve the goal that I have set for myself. I just need to focus on eating better, and cleaner. No complications, thank God. Went from a 5-6XL shirt to a 3XL. My pants size are slow losers for some reason, I only dropped about 2-3 sizes. Still able to wear the same jeans as before but they a…

Well, I have returned from my week of vacation in Tennessee. I know you all missed me desperately. I was actually surprised to see BariatricPal was still up and running when I got home! But don't worry, the dark days of my absence have ended. I am back to restore balance to the force. I had a great time on vacation. It was the perfect combination of relaxation, activity, amazing food, and exercise. I managed to do every single one of my scheduled workouts for my half marathon training. I did a long run (8 miles) on Friday before I left to head to my parents' house. Saturday was a "rest" day... all day driving through snow from PA to TN. Sunday I biked at the resort's …

  8. My brother had bypass with Dr. Ismael Cabrera in August 2015. He has since lost about 80 pounds and hit his target weight! The procedure went flawlessly and my brother highly recommends Dr. Ismael Cabrera. What stood out to me the most was the quality assurance that was made with the x-ray to assure my brother there was indeed a new smaller stomach that did not leak. I did all the research on his behalf and am beyond thrilled that everything worked out best case senecio. I would do my sleeve with Dr. Ismael Cabrera however when I called to find out more info I was told prices just went up and they weren't able to get me a deal to get the price back down. I am now almost 6 months post op and have lost 90 pounds. While the first few days were rough and uncomfortable, I can truly say that I am so thankful to have had the courage to take this step. I am so happy with the results and do not miss the binging behaviour as I feared I might. Instead, I am so grateful for the chance to live a normal life. I get all of the nutrition I need and I get bites of various things that look good. But what I find is that those old foods like bread, potatoes, fast food, pizza, really have no attraction for me. I just got the go ahead to have a small salad and boy was that good. sometimes if I want to eat a small salad and I need to mak…

  11. Hubby and I went to the Caribbean last week for a week. I spent most of the week in a bathing suit and loose shorts that I had not fit into in years. I cannot tell you how totally awesome it was to just feel so at ease in my body and not worry about feeling fat. Oh, and I also lost 2 lbs! On vacation! And I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. We went out to eat at least once a day, and I had pizza for the first time since surgery. Of course, it took three meals for me to eat one personal pizza whereas hubby wolfed his down the first night at the restaurant. LOL!

Hi! I'm new here. I had started the process 2 years ago with Dr. Nusbaum. I was approved and at the same time found out I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. Surprise! So obviously I had to postpone my WLS plans. Fast forward to last month. I went back to Nusbaum, nutritionist, psych eval, they were all ready to submit me and then they realized they don't take new insurance. I'm so upset about this set back but I've done my research and it's lead me to Advanced laperscopic assoc in Paramus. It looks likes they are in my plan tier 1 and I should be good. I'm going this Weds for the seminar. Hopefully I won't have to start completely from Scratch. Im mentally ready to get a mo…

Greetings all current and prospective sleevers, I just couldn't help but sharing that after not weighing myself for a couple of days, I finally remembered to jump on the scale this morning. AND....198.4lbs :-) And that was with a flannel nightgown ON;-) I am about 7.5 months out and have now lost 88 lbs. Of course I was hoping to have lost even more by the 6 month mark, but this is a MAJOR MILESTONE for me and makes me feel like my ultimate goal really is within reach. Whether it takes me a year, 18 months, or longer I can do this! I'm positively thrilled:-)

Now I'm not sure why this happened or exactly what I did different from other nights, but I might have eaten too fast or a bit too much and plus I'm now on my surgeon's second phase diet which is puree. Well I ate my 4 oz of protein shake, 2 oz of cottage cheese, 4 oz of a pudding, 1 oz of egg salad and then was lying down to watch computer screen; I fell asleep briefly then woke up to a kinda nasty sense …

Today is my one-year anniversary of being at my goal weight. To be fair, this morning I was three pounds over goal because I was kind of a pig yesterday, but most days I fluctuate anywhere from 1-4 pounds on either side of my goal weight. I am happy with this range. I weigh myself every morning and on days when I wake up near the heavier end, I pay extra attention to how I eat and usually the next day I am right back within the 1-2 pound range. Sometimes I drop a little lower, but for the most part I’m right around goal. The most I fluctuated upward was to 137 for one day back in October, and I was back to 131 by December. While I have lost weight before, the lowes…

I believe I can officially post in here and call my journey a success. I know that one year is a small insignificant amount of time in the grand scope of things. . The whole process was a whirlwind for me. I contacted Dr Owen's office upon referral from a friend on 2/8/15. Upon talking to the front office they make me aware of pending insurance changes. At the time my insurance didn't require a 6mo monitored diet. Therefore if I wanted to get this done I had to have my surgery before March 15th. This didn't leave much time. However Dr Owens staff is so well versed in the insurance game I was approved a few days later. Reflecting on it now it was probably good that I did…

From inside my body it is not easy for me to tell by eye whether I'm losing weight. I was worried Bc instead of following a plan, I eat intuitively, and my diets consists mostly of cheese, nuts and fruits, with a bit of meat here and there. I don't count or track; I just follow my body and let my sleeve measure my food intake. I have not had to throw away my whole wardrobe so I just didn't know if I was doing the right things. But... But it's been a breeze knock on wood. So here are the two things: 1) the unanticipated great pleasure is crossing my legs. When I sit and cross my legs now the experience is completely different as my legs don't splay out, the fold neatly and the folded over leg just goes straight don along side the other leg, if you can see what I mean here. It's no longer uncomfortable. But it's something I would never have thought of. 2) Has anyone heard of people reaching their goal weight in TWO months? Well I'…

I'm six months out. Last night I was in the market picking up things and I found my self wandering a bit, staring at all the junk I would have once consisdered buying. It was almost like visiting the scene of an accident, where you analyze it trying to figure where things went wrong. I wasn't tempted, just in awe of how much junk I'd have once piled in my cart. I'm healthier, off blood pressure meds and my overactive bladder is a thing if the past. Keep encouraged folks, it's possible and so worth it! I'm certainly not perfect and still have my struggles... They were TIGHT when I bought them, like just this side of fitting, and now they're falling off! I keep having to pull them up, they're loose in the thighs, and I can pull the waist out a good 2-3"! Also, when my fiancee gave me a hug this morning, she put her arms around me and went, "where did you go???"
