So, since I've lost 90 lbs, I've been enjoying wearing flirty skirts all summer. Knowing that fall is around the bend, I wondered what size jeans I'd be in now. Off to the mall for some size- tries I went. Grabbed 16's- nope! 14's--NOPE!!! 12's--you betcha!!! <--- me doing a happy dance!!! That's from a solid size 24!!!!. Sorry- it's humid here and my hair was messy from changing tops in the dressing room lol. Ladies, this skirt is from a company called Haystacks. It is reversible!!. These are the two prints on this skirt. Most importantly, no waist band, super cute, and very forgiving as you lose weight. This is a large I'm wearing- bought it while I was s…

I have never posted pictures on here because I never wanted to put out what I used to look like as I am no longer that person. I am a new person but have come to terms that I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't lived life as a larger person. I also know that when I started out looking at other people's pictures were such at motivation for me so I am hoping these will help someone in return. The picture of me at my largest was after I had my son. I had lost a significant amount of weight before my day of surgery which is the pic of me looking grumpy and in pain. Hey all, One year ago today was the day I decided to make the decision for a healthier lifestyle. Although my sleeve surgery wasn't until October I decided that it made more sense to start getting used to watching what I ate rather than making a mad dash until the last minute. So fast forward one year and I feel compelled to share with you my progress thus far.....197 pounds lost...before pic 393 pounds and currently 196 Sent from my 831C using the BariatricPal App

So I just went through my closet and purged EVERYTHING pre-sleeve. (Except one reminder outfit and a couple sentimental things) I literally have nothing from my past that I can wear. I am about a size 14 right now, down about 100 pounds and still in process. I haven't been a size 14 since school - and that was more than 25 years ago! I have donated about 20 bags of clothes! But I did keep my old HS jacket!! It feels so freeing to be rid of all that old baggage!!

Was thinking about non scale victories the other day while on my thinking chair...yup, the toilet and it dawned on me. My best NSV so far is fitting in a regular stall... No more having to use the handicap stalls for me. I can "think" like the regular folks in the tiny stalls that are everywhere. No longer do I have to wait just because someone else is in the big stall. It's the little pleasures like this that make me thankful for making the decision I did. so friday I turned 48 years young. I feel and look the bwat I have in over 30 years. This year is a lot of changes. Firstly I lost my job may 19, but that's ok o started cleaning houses and businesses again to pay the bills. Then I decided that 25 of marriage was all I can do. He is very up aet and rightly so. But I just can't do it anymore. So I filed for divorce. It's been a trying time. But up for the challenge. So bring it on. I also lost a few more lbs I now weigh 135. Whoop whoop This was taking before my big dinner

Hi gang! I'm 10 days post op. I must admit out loud to you all that I want to look good in clothes again. It's not my only objective, but...well. So yesterday I got the results of some of the testing docs do after our surgeries, etc. I have stage 3 kidney disease and damn if my numbers aren't getting better! This news, these numbers opposed to scale numbers, have given me more hope for a happy life then I imagined I would ever have. I come from healthy stock, and most of my life my cholesterol, bp and all of the health numbers were good, actually better than good- low. I just took this for granted so imagine my dismay the first time these numbers started to rise. …

I use MyFitnessPal and would love some friends on there that use bariatric ways of eating. All my friends on there have no idea about it and what it entails lol. My username is jobey84. Anyone that doesn't mind adding me or visa versa would be awesome I'm only 3 days post op atm, so my food diary is pretty boring but hopefully will get more exciting in a month or so lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

As of yesterday, I have lost 134lbs and now weigh under 200lbs!! I had my surgery January 11. Start weight was 333.1 Yesterday's weight 199.1 As someone who has spent the majority of my adult life weighing well over 300lbs, this is a huge accomplishment for me. I never thought I would get to this weight. I cried when I saw the scale yesterday. When I had wls, I never really picked a number I wanted to get to as a goal weight....all I wanted was that number to start with a 1!!! Now that I'm here, I feel there's nothing I can't accomplish. I'm still not sure where I want to be yet, but my next goal will be to get to 180lbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricP…

Just bought my 1st pair of jeans in a regular clothing store. Feels so good to have a pair of jeans that makes my ass look good Also not paying 90$ for fat girl jeans is great. doesn't feel like a potato bag with legs :-) I tried a few pairs that fitted, Almost cried in the changing room. Just this feels good.

So I figured I would update everyone on my journey. I was 6 months post op on August 12. I have lost over 42.25 inches and I'm down 85 pounds. I know it is normal but I have a hard time seeing the weight loss. I know the scale is moving but I still feel huge. I still have about 50 pounds to go but thought I'd share some pics. The one in the black pants was the first day of school last year. The one in the dress was the first day of school this year. The other two are just a before and after side view. So I am really in a state of shock. At pre-o.o on July 12th I was 384. On surgery day July 25th I was 369. Today the scale read 332. I was not expecting to lose so fast. I am try happy but I'm shock. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using the BariatricPal App

Today my weight dropped to 75kg (165 Ibs). I was told that at 74kg (162.8 Ibs) I'd be a success. I am now 10kg (22 Ibs) away from my goal weight, and 15kg (33 Ibs) away from my stretch goal of 60kg (132 Ibs). It is amazing to see how sugar caused few stalls, and even a little gain in the past. Since I stopped eating ice-cream and frozen yoghurt, and sticking to the food plan, suddenly my weight is peeling off again. It is like my body can't process sugar and stores it as fat instead. So, I have to be mindful constantly of what I put in my mouth. The sugar and its bad effects will never change. If I eat sugary food, I put on weight, if I don…

I am 50 lbs down. HW 290. I shared my wls with a lot of people, so not like they didn't expect it or know that I would probably be loosing weight. But it's hard for me to tell how noticeable it is. When did people come up to you and say they could tell you lost weight? And did you get a new picture for your drivers license at a certain point? I'm not there yet, but hope to be before end of the year.

I have a friend who is selling a weight loss and energy product, she knows that I have the band but that I got off track and started to gain again. When I told her I just needed to go in for maintenance she tried to push her products on me as well as ask me to throw a party at my house (my friends and relatives of course) so she could sell to them. I'm all for supporting my friends projects if it's something I believe in but this is another multi-level gimmick that will be out of fashion in a year or so.Long story short, she's trying to "make" me buy her stuff even though I told her I need to sample it first because it may not agree with me and I'd be throwing away mon…

Hi all! I had my gastric bypass October, 2013 and am down 260 pounds! I'm thrilled with the new me! I'm very strict with myself and take all my Vitamins and supplements every day. However, I fell hard during our last snow storm and broke my left femur in FIVE places above my knee! I now have a plate, rod, and 9 screws in my leg and am off work recovering. I would hate to think what it could have been. So, the bypass surgery does weaken bones. Be careful out there! I now have physical and occupational therapy coming to my house to strengthen my arms and legs but it really sucks!

Wow how easy it is to slip back into bad habits! I've lost about 50 lbs with 20-30 to go but I'm looking pretty good and fitting into old clothes so I guess I started to get lazy or cocky...or both. Started scrimping on the exercise and adding carbs and all day grazing. Not gaining (thank you Lord!) but stopped losing months ago. That all day snacking at my desk on breadsticks no less turns out to be due to not eating a proper meal! Today I went to lunch and ordered half a sandwich without the bread and I was stuffed and couldn't eat for hours. Protein FIRST - the golden rule - I'd simply forgotten! My sleeve works great when I follow the directions! Hardly a ground break…

Hello! When I started this journey I was 260 pounds (Sept 2014) and today I'm at 125. Pant size 24 to 6. My goal was 130 but for the life of me, I can't stop loosing. I meet with my NUT soon so hopefully she can give me food ideas to maintain. Fortunately, it has been a smooth ride and I'm glad I got on board! The only issue I'm dealing with is restless leg which I didn't have before. I'm hoping that it will subside soon. I want to thank everyone for your support and advice. I wish everyone much success! -Kim

My WFL is working! A success story to share. I was banded 7 months ago - December 18th, 2014. Since then I have been a great and compliant patient - modifying my food choices, increasing Protein, eliminating white foods (rice, Pasta, breads). And TODAY - this very morning - the day after my 46th birthday, I have lost 50 pounds. HOORAY! What is a WFL? WINE-FREE LIFE. Sounds silly to give it a goofy acronym, but I'm trying to stay positive here. Up until 3 days ago I was stuck at 47 pounds lost. Like REALLY STUCK - the scale has not moved in 9 weeks. I was at 212-214 for weeks and weeks and weeks... the culprit? Red wine. I love fine wines. (My husband is snor…

So on 6/30/16, I went to see my surgeon and after being weighed I was informed that I had reached the goal weight set by my surgeon before surgery. It was an awesome feeling and a goal I thought I would never reach. My personal goal is 130 lbs (I'm 5'2) so I have about 13 lbs to go. Shopping was a whole new experience too...I actually enjoyed it!

It’s been 18 months since my surgery, and I am a work in progress. I recently posted about the decision to have the sleeve. See, “Down Over 140…The Decision: Fears and Tears” Now I want to write a bit about the emotional changes that I personally had to go through. Maybe some of this will ring true for you, too. As I contemplated this entry, I struggled with what to tell you, a complete stranger, about my process. Finally, I decided to be honest, so that you could know in your heart that if it’s possible for me to change, it is also possible for you. I still think about food all day, every day. I so wish I didn’t, but I have come to know that I am a food addict…

I am back. I was offline most of last week because I was in the mountains of eastern Kentucky attending a writing workshop. It was an awesome experience and not something I could have even attempted a year ago (I was sleeved April 20, 2015). After over a year with my sleeve, I am over half-way to goal. Last week showed me how far I have progressed and also how much further I still have to go. It was a tiring week but I made it. One of my big concerns was my endurance. In addition, the physical accommodations were not exactly 21st century ADA compliant or bariatric friendly. I still survived. I was able to participate in almost everything with two major exceptions. I…

I'm now planning on having the RNY. How long are you usually in the hospital and then home and off work? I was told that some people can go back to work within 2 weeks. I need to plan my vacation/sick leave. I'm just starting the process and haven't a doctor yet. Also I've had a C section and open hysterectomy so I'm used to pain. My sister in law wants to come and stay with me a few days to help out. Would that be necessary?

Hi everyone. New to the forum. I had gastric bypass in 2010. It has been six and half years. I weighed 232 pounds prior to sx. Within 9 months I weighed 145 pounds and that is pretty much where I have stayed for the past six years. I wear a size 8. I weigh every day and when I hit 150 I cut back until I am at 145 again. I still "dump" almost weekly but not as severely or as easily as in the beginning. By "dump" I mean if I eat too much sugar I feel nauseous and need to lie down for awhile. No sweating, no beating heart, just want to throw up but can't. miserable. One year after sx at my check up my labs were normal except for K was low. I did not do any more follow u…

Hello Friends!!! Been a bit of a wait but I have posted interval updates on my changes. Well Here I am 10 months out and feeling like a NEW PERSON!! I am down 170 pounds well a head of DRs plan!!! He is very happy.. But more importantly my kids are happy! There is so many positives to list and that's a good thing! I hope every one is doing great and if still on the fence all I can say is if you want it and are mentally disciplined then you will be successful. This is not a cure all I make food choices every day that keep me going strong. Some days I want to eat junk then I look at my old pants I keep around for a reminder and that feeling goes away very fast. LOL…

I am less than a week away from having my band and going through my liquid diet I'm feeling so tired and stressed. I'm starting to worry that there will be so little that I can eat once this is done. I know moderation and that every person is different. So, what are some things I need to know that I will and will not be able to have? I know it's just nerves and the strange way I feel right now on just shakes. Please advise. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello all! I recently went to a seminar for the sleeve and have my consultation with the DR in june. I really wanted the sleeve but my insurance will only cover the lapband, so I am going to go with that. I am 400lbs. I am young but have high cholesterol, high bp (controlled with meds) arrythmia (cardiologist cleared me for surgery) and am risk of heart disease. so it needs to happen. I have been seeing a dietitian and have done many diets. I lose a little bit and thats it. I am concerned it will not help me to lose enough weight to get to where I want to be (180) Anyone in here around my weight and get down to that goal weight? Any pros/cons you can share with…
