I achieved a goal yesterday that I never thought possible only a few months ago.....I did a four mile hike..half of which was a continuous climb and a lot of steps....In Rocky Mountain National Park , with my Husband and Son......We saw 3 lakes on this hike...Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake. We also saw an elk laying just a few feet off the trail [emoji7][emoji106].....Having RNY has changed my life in so many ways...So worth the struggles along the way!!

Hi everyone. So it's been almost two months since my VSG and I've lost 40 pounds. I hit a stall around the two week mark which stayed for about 3 weeks. Maybe I shouldn't call it a stall since during that time I lost inches but not weight. Anyway I'm curious to know how much can you eat in one sitting particularly and how long has it. Even since your surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. Can't believe that 4 months in I'm over half-way to my goal!!! It feels like it's been a lifetime since I had my surgery and my life has changed so immensely that it's hard to believe it has only been 4 months. Gone is the obsession over food...what to eat...what not to eat...how much...how little. I just live my life now and it's so freeing!!! I still have alot of work to do when it comes to stress eating, and feeling comfortable in my body but I will get there, work in progress! This forum has been amazing! I want to say Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and inspiring journey's. I haven't posted much about my journey but reading about your accompli…

I just attended my only grandson's beautiful wedding in South Florida. Instead of Granny Shoes I had to wear for 12 years, swollen ankles and puffy feet, this 70 year old found some Coach shoes on sale, and I wore them for hours, even dancing! Thank you my surgeon, I am so happy! Trust in the sleeve!

Im so confused!! I was going to get the sleeve, but im very concerned about acid reflux, and being on the meds. I have had gerd for years, and have been on med for all of that time. Just read an article how peopme are getting kidney disease from acid reflux meds. I know they put u on these, after the sleeve. I dont have a tremendous amout of weight to lose, about 75 ibs or so. Any thought on this? Do they even do bypass id you have less weight to lose? I will be seeing the surgeon the end of the month. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Hello everyone! I just had to share this enormous milestone with you all. I am lucky enough to be able to ring in the new year with more hope and joy than I've felt in a long time. Before my surgery mid-August, I had a hard time believing I would lose anything at all, let alone be where I am today. I've met or surpassed all my goals, and when I woke up this morning, I was happily shocked to see that I was FINALLY into the 200s. This is a place I have not been in over a decade. I can't tell you how incredibly happy and proud I am, and just how lucky I am to have this chance to take back my life. Thank you, everyone, for always being supportive and inspirational. I hope …

Husband and I have a motorhome. Before surgery, showering in the motorhome shower was uncomfortable. If I didn't stand a certain way, my butt would hit the side of the shower. And washing certain parts was a challenge because I couldn't contort my body in the right way. Well, now that I'm down 106#, I LOVE the motorhome shower. No hitting the side of anything with my butt. I can move around and wash everywhere with ease. Now I just need to get out of there and end my spa-like motorhome showers before we run out of hot water!

I'm 35 lbs from goal- so I expect things to start slowing down soon. But I'm in it for the long haul! So far, I've lost 106 ish pounds from my HW- at 282 96 lbs from my SW at surgery. Looking forward to seeing my surgeon this week!!! Who knew getting on a scale could be exciting?? For those of you just beginning- it works. It truly does. 13. These pics are NOT easy to share because I have No make-up on and tons of loose skin and wrinkles, hence the the Yikes in my title! All that being said, I couldn't be happier and healthier. Last Summer I was wearing a size 22 swimsuit and the one I have on in the pic is a size 10, so YAY! Having had gastric bypass has truly saved my life. I was a slow but steady loser (can't exercise much due to a chronic nerve condition) and only have a few more pounds to go. These last 10 lbs. are the hardest. Being obese for 30 years took it's toll on me but I'm so happy now that I refuse to dwell in the past. Advice for those just starting out ... Take "Before" pics and measure…

At this time last year I was just waking up in recovery and weighed in at about 245lbs. My highest recorded weight was 255lbs. Today I am 168lbs. I still haven't reached my goal of 150lbs but I am happier just the same. I had no complications and have been able to eat pretty much anything (in moderation) as long as I do it slowly. I still struggle with crunchy, salty Snacks - definitely my number 1 vice. I've been exercising regularly and have so much more energy. The shopaholic in me loves being able to shop in pretty much any store now...my wallet not so much. Just gotta find a way to buckle down and say goodbye to those last 15-20lbs.

As of this week I finally hit a normal BMI and i promised myself when that time came I would finally share some pictures. By the way, I still do not like having my picture taken but before I hid behind everyone and because I was tall it was easy to hide the rest of me. Now I definitely am willing to get in the shot and I no longer cringe when I see the pictures. The only pics I could find before surgery were taken on a cruise with my hubby, Son and Granddaughter. These were taken 1 month before my bypass. My after was taken earlier today, down 137lbs and finally at a BMI of 24.9

5 months out next week. Starting weight: 293 Current weight: 216 Weight in 'after' picture: 220 or so Goal: 185 Still more to go, but I've regained my energy and confidence. Went from a sz 24 pants and 2-3XL top to size 16 pants and XL top. I can go forever now without getting tired. Simple tasks are no longer a chore. Planes are comfortable and feel like they were made to fit me. Bathrooms are more comfortable. The world doesn't have to bend to accommodate my size any more.

So this weekend will be my first long (4 days long only) trip/ vacation since my surgery. I'm heading to NYC with my friend for a little shopping and site seeing. I'm kind of nervous cause of the whole food thing. I know I need to keep my Proteins up and will have to stay fully hydrated the whole time. I hope I'm not gonna gain any weight though. Gonna try and buy clothes in a smaller size then the size that fits me so it will fit for a while :-) do still wish I could buy some Garett Popcorn for myself but I'll just buy it as a gift for someone LOL.

It's been a while since I've been active on BP since I found myself pregnant at my one year surgiversary (9/8/15), But that doesn't mean I haven't been "Active" in my life!.. This year has brought so much happiness, May 25th of this year we welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world and in June moved from NJ to PA where we bought our first house. At a year out I was down 100lbs, during my pregnancy I gained 28lbs and since have lost the weight and have been maintaining my 100lb loss. Just this past week (3 months postpartum) I started back at the gym and am looking forward to getting back into the groove of things and continuing on with my WLS journey and future success. …

  24. Hello everyone I am new to this site. I have a question though. I have finished all of my requirements for the surgery besides, seeing the nutritionist next month and losing the 15lbs. I'm at a point of excitement and I'm ready to see my surgeon. The first consultation I had was with her Nurse Practitioner, however it was suppose to be with her but she wasn't in. I let that slide. Now I'm stuck again because she is out on leave. No one has returned my calls and I'm worried about getting surgery done from her because she is never around. My surgery is suppose to be done at John Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore MD. I requested to see another surgeon there and they said…

Hello fellow sleevers, I was sleeved on 2/29/16 and I have to say even with some of the minor complications and sometimes slow weightloss, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for "myself". Being a dedicated working wife and mom, everyone else became a priority and before I knew it I had ballooned up to around 274 and at 46, it was affecting my health. Anyway, at my heaviest and while waiting for surgery approval I would browse this website for encouragement and I would find it. I wanted to post my before and after pics to hopefully encourage someone else. Btw... I am 5'8 and my health has dramatically improved (woo hoo). I would still like to los…

  29. And I've already lost 30 pounds! I figured that I wouldn't lose this much since I was 255 (since BMIs under 50 don't usually lose this quickly), but WOW! I know that it will slow down a bit, but I'll be happy as long as I can lose 10 pounds per month. I am now the weight that I was 2 years ago! I'm so excited! Please allow me to share some inspiration with you this morning. This is my Uncle Stan. The first picture is at my grandmas 90th birthday. It is shortly before he had the sleeve. Kidney disease, heart issues, diabetes. I honestly thought we might not have him long. The second picture is last weekend. Grandma is 93. He has lost I would guess half his extra weight. He is almost 70. In those three years he has fought off kidney cancer and had that kidney removed. His wife is in hospice with colon cancer. If he can change his life I won't let my issues stop me. he is also teaching me to keep trying for my goal - but not to get hung up on it. he only lost half yet his life is…

Hello everyone! I had Sleeve surgery on 9/26/15, I was 296 lbs and I am currently down to 195.7 lbs. Side by side photo attached! I am starting to notice that I am able to eat more - definitely nowhere near what my portions were prior to surgery but it is still more than what I was able to eat compared to 6-7 months ago. Is this normal?? It is also scary that I am able to tolerate junk foods like popcorn or chips and there are times when I feel like I can eat the entire bag (when I am on my period)! I am also noticing that I start to get hungry every 2-3 hours so I have a small healthy snack in between meals but maybe eating every few hours is not a good thing??…

I was 52 in 2012 when I had the sleeve. I was 275 pounds. I lost 90....and have since gained back 5. Yep. After 4 years, I am still 190. My initial goal was 200. Four years later, I am still 190. I have hovered right at 185-190. The Sleeve changed my life. I get up at 4am daily and walk 5 miles before work. I still Protein load and carb avoid. I drink a LOT of Water daily. For me, the Sleeve has worked.....and continues to work. I was pre-diabetic before. Now, my doc says I have the health of a 30-year-old.
