Back to basics month 9

Wow how easy it is to slip back into bad habits! I've lost about 50 lbs with 20-30 to go but I'm looking pretty good and fitting into old clothes so I guess I started to get lazy or cocky...or both. Started scrimping on the exercise and adding carbs and all day grazing. Not gaining (thank you Lord!) but stopped losing months ago. That all day snacking at my desk on breadsticks no less turns out to be due to not eating a proper meal! Today I went to lunch and ordered half a sandwich without the bread and I was stuffed and couldn't eat for hours. Protein FIRST - the golden rule - I'd simply forgotten! My sleeve works great when I follow the directions! Hardly a ground breaking revelation but it was enough to turn me back around and get back on the program and plan ahead. And stop buying carby Snacks that I shouldn't have near me anyway.

Well that felt good to say! Not sure anyone else is in the same boat but maybe it will encourage someone.

Hey, don't feel bad. At least you recognized your downfall and you're able to put yourself back on track. I'm 4 months post op. The past, I'd say, 2 weeks I've slipped into a few old bad habits myself. I was snacking on trail mix that has sesame sticks and rice crackers in it. It's good but I'm sure they have lots of carbs. I also have had a few chocolate chip Cookies which is definitely not in the plan. I've lost only one pound each week which upsets me but its my own fault. This week I'm getting it back together again. I'm going to incorporate more fruits and eat Soup. They tend to work better and they work better with my sleeve. I never drink enough Water and that bothers me. I really try but the desire for it is just not there. I like the drink mix ins but they have aspartame which isn't good to consume. I do get my protein in really good due to Premier Protein. I find it to be the better one for me. I wish you the best and you can do this. Lets stay on course!!!

Glad to know I'm not alone! I need to drink more water too! Long term being slightly dehydrated is not good!

Thank you for the advice! I'm only 5 days post-op, but my worst fear with this is not feeling full. This gives me such great hope! ☺

I am two months post op. I have yet to feel hungry. When is the last time you said "oh I forgot to eat"? When I first started on real food at about 3-4 weeks I would get full off 1-2 tablespoons. Insanity!!!!!!

These changes are like nothing we've ever experienced. Serve only what you should eat and no more.

Yeah the Water intake is so hard.... I can on good day get 6 cups of water... Protein has been 50-60, I need to get those Protein shakes back in my life with syntrex nectar& lactose free milk instant 31 grams ... those shakes were my "get out of jail card" for meeting protein goals 75-80 grams... and Protein Bars are not safe either... high carbs, high fats and made with whey concentrate not whey isolate...

Before vsg I was constantly thinking of food....now I don't seem to think of it that much but I need to be able to eat healthy... go from one extreme to another...
