Hello all. I just found your site and was wanting to introduce myself. I had my lap-band "installed" on October the 2nd and so far everything has been as smooth as glass. for me it was a same day surgery I went in at 5:am and was leaving at 7:pm that night. the only problem I did have was trying to find the liquid pain reliever that was prescribed ( Liquid Tylenol and codeine)for me at the local drug stores. A quick call to my doctor solved this right away, he changed my script to just the codeine and purchased the Tylenol and mixed it myself. I have lost 22 pounds and seem to be going strong. Not much appetite I seem to be getting full rather quickly. My doct…

I've struggled with my weight and have been obese all of my adult life and early childhood. In the past year I have recently promised myself that I was going to make a change. I looked into all types of surgery and decided that the Lap Band procedure is what was best for me with my doctors advice as well. I have yet to get the surgery done. My insurance wants me to go through a monitored diet program for a period of 12 months. I have decided on the Beaumont Diet (local hospital all Protein sh…

I am having difficulties eating solids, and my band is not filled at all. I had 2 fills and did fine, but something happened and so they took some out... then It was still too tight so they took the rest out. I am just eating mushy foods pretty much, alot of soups, and potatoes! Any ideas? or any questions?

Days 1 and 2 of this pre-op diet weren't so bad, but today, the 3rd day is really tough. I went to bed hungry last night and dreamt that a friend sent me and my husband a huge honkin' piece of cake with some kind of blueberry frosting and I ate the whole thing without sharing. So here's my frantic question to those who are a bit ahead of me but not yet banded: does it get any better or is this status quo for the next 10 days?

  33. I am at the very beginning of this process. I have met with a surgeon and I have attended a seminar. I have also been fortunate enough to find this site. It is so important to us newbies to have this information, so I thank all of you so much. My insurance company will pay for the procedure after I jump through a few hoops for three months. Not bad at all. My question I have is regarding my diabetes and hypoglycemia. I eat 45 carbs a meal to keep my blood sugar both down and up. If I don't, my blood sugar drops way down and I get pretty sick with the shakes etc. Is this going to be a problem for me to manage after surgery?
