I'm new to this forum but had my surgery on August 4, 2007. I had my last child in 1985 and now that he has graduated from college, feel I can no longer say I am still getting rid of that baby fat! (yes I have been 100 pounds over weight since his birth!) The surgery went well and just this week I have begun to feel hungry and am starting to eat more. I have lost 33 pounds since the surgery and don't want to fail now! But suddenly I feel I can eat more than I should be able to. I am exercising, doing step class and weight class and walking. I called today to get my first fill. It is scheduled in a week. I'm very nervous about it, because it has been nice not doing anythi…

Hi. I have been visiting this site everyday for a few months now and I am finally posting something. I live in Charlotte, NC, I am 21 years old and plan to be banded by Dr. Roc Bauman in Concord,NC. Since July I have been completing all of the tests and whatnot. My information was submitted to insurance (BCBS Federal Basic) last Wednesday. Then yesterday, at work, I got a call from Kim at Carolina Weight loss Surgery telling me that I was approved. YAY ME!! I have a surgery date set for Dec 5th. I couldn't be more excited. What was really great was how happy everyone at work was for me. And my mom was super excited. Now I just have to contain my excitement for the next …

Hi: I have not been through the operation yet but am seriously considering it. I am bordering on obese and I am getting concerned about it. My current weight is 230lbs which I am trying to reduce but it is a struggle. My ideal weight for my height, age and build is 150lb so, I have a way to go. I need more information on this procedure and would welcome any suggestions. I do have a few questions 1. What is involved in the filling process and can it be done anywhere? 2. Has anyone had any complications with the procedure? 3. What is involved in the aftermath of the procedure....do you have to diet or does the physiology kick in that lets you know you are not h…

Hello Everyone! I found this site as I was searching for information about Lap Band surgery. I read a few posts and everyone seems really nice and supportive so I joined. I havn't started the whole process yet but I am making my first appointment next week. I have used some BMI calculators and I'm at approx. 44. I have only gone under the knife once in my lifetime and am a little nervous. I am also a horrible speller so forgive me, please. I just wanted to introduce myself! I wish everyone much health and happiness.

This is my first visit to the website. I am 14 days post surgery and feeling pretty good. I have just started my mushy food stage and am loving the variety. I am VERY nervous about gaining back what little I've already lost. I'm curious. At this point (without having a fill) the band isn't really obstructing anything (right or wrong)? But I'm not really having alot of hunger. Is this normal? My biggest problem is that upset stomach feeling in the evening and the bloated feeling that builds during the day. Any suggestions? cautiously optimistic:rolleyes:

Well they say this is the first stop on here so i guess i should start here! I have not been banded yet but have been trying to be for 2 yrs now. When my mom first heard of this surgery we went to a meeting (Seminar) to get the info on it. Well I waited to talk to the Dr afterwards and I told him that I have been on this continual cycle of getting bigger and bigger and wanted to get this surgery done and he pretty much looked at me and said no way you are a candidate for this procedure. That really pissed me off cause I have seen what weight gain is like in my mother and I am headed straight where she was (before her weight loss surgery) except I am like 5 in. shorter …

U.S. Hospitals could sure learn a lesson from them. And Dr. Corvala & his staff were wonderful & very attentive. I have adjusted well, but I do not get full as quickly as I should. Does anyone know if it is too soon to get a fill. And what range of pricing am I looking for. Any help would be very much appreciated. cck Orlando, FL

Hi everyone, I was only banded 8 days ago and would like a little advice from experienced people as my surgeon has the personality of a rock and I don't find him easy to talk to. As a 182cm (6ft) former basketballer who had tipped the scales at 130kgs(286pds) I felt I really needed to do something drastic. Hence the band, but my second son is only 3 months old and I am still breastfeeding. After a horrendous first few days with the most extreme side flank pain ( ended up at the hospital but nothing wrong) I am now feeling pretty good. However, I am feeling better because I put a little solid food in my stomach. Within an hour the pain had subsided and has not returne…

I was interested when it first made the news back in 2002. I've gained and lost the same 40/50 pounds since high school. I'm like everyone here I've tried everything with moderate success. I have a low BMI so insurance will never pay or approve. I got the hubbys okay and support to get this done and finance it. I went to Obesity Goodbye in TJ with an old friend from high school on Saturday. I liked watching the fill with the x-ray. That put my fears of fills to rest. The fills seemed like the biggest problem (too tight, too loose), but with the x-ray he could see exactly how much she was passing. That was great. I've gotten the okay for a surgery date of 11/23... too …

Hi all, I finally got approval for my surgery. I was supposed to have it Mon. the 29th of Oct., but not all my cardiology tests came back in time and I failed the nuclear part. I was so bummed. I went to my cardiologist yesterday and she said the EKG was fine, just concerned my ticker isn't pumping as good as it should, but said low risk surgery should be fine. I still have to get an echo, but after surgery! I am so glad. I have been on the post-op shake diet for over 2 weeks now. I go for surgery Nov. 1st. Dr. Nirmul out of Scottsdale AZ will be doing the "honors":). I'm sure all will go well.

I'm so glad to have found this forum! I was banded 5/19/2007. I am going in for my fourth fill tomorrow. (First two fills essentially resulted in no saline in the band. With an initial fill of 2.0cc and a second fill of 4.0cc in a 9.75 Inamed band, I wound up with 0.6cc. My surgeon did a fluro, fill to 2.6cc and checked the following day. No leakage noted. I still feel restriction 7-8 weeks later.) I'm a bit discouraged since I've lost approximately 37 lbs total including the pre-op diet that I followed for 4 weeks prior to surgery.
