I went to Monterrey mexico for my surgery. It was done on Oct 10, 2008 by Dr Zapata. Ready4achange.com I didnt have any preop diet, ate what i wanted. i went out to eat the night before surgery for the "last supper" lol I had a big meal, and a couple drinks. he did want to limit alcohol intake prior to surgery but my surgery was scheduled late evening the next day. Surgery and recovery was a breeze. He did say walk alot after surgery to get rid of the excess gas that is incurred during surgery. i walked all night at the hospital and never had any gas pains. i never took any pain medicine either . I had surgery on wed night, went to the hotel thurs. flew home friday morning , i was back in new orleans for 9 am on friday and drove myself home from the hospital , the only pains i had was soreness when i was getting up out of a chair or out of bed . i am down 80# since surgery. just slow and steady. I didnt have any preop diet, meetings or seminars to do. i just gave them all my medical history. I went to Monterrey Mexico to have my surgery done. I was banded by Dr Zapata on 10/10/07 I am down 80# right now . 60 more to go

I havent met anyone from around the New Orleans area yet. I live in slidell. I was banded on 10*10*07 and i am down 75# as of right now .

I guess i was one of the lucky ones , also depends on yoru doctors experience also. I was banded on OCt 10th by dr zapada in monterrey mexico and flew home on the 12th. I never had any pain medicine to take. only some discomfort when i got out of bed or moved wrong. just felt like i did a ton of situps . I guess everyone recovers different . good luck .

Congratulations on your recovery . I was banded on Oct 10th in Monterrey Mexico, that was a wed evening , i flew home at 7 am friday mornin , no pain just a little soreness. Everythign went well here also

I was banded in mexico on oct 10th by Dr Zapada. I was refered there by my cousin and his wife. Everything was awesome, if i had to do it again i would. I found a doctor locally to do checkups and fills for 185 bucks . cant beat that . less than half the cost of doing it locally, thats alot of money in my pocket . I paid 7500 for the surgery and 528 for a plane flight.

I spoke to my accountant , some portions are deductable , i am going to try to deduct whatever possible. I paid 7500 for my band total, plus a plane flight. I was banded on oct 10th by Dr Zapada in Mexico. i went there because i was self pay and didnt want to pay the prices they wanted locally.

I did not consider the bypass either, way too much going on with that in my opinion. I was banded on oct 10th in mexico by Dr Zapada. everything is great so far. way less recovery than i expected .

I was banded on Oct 10th By Dr Zapada in Monterrey Mexico. i flew home the 2nd day after surgery, i never had any pain just soreness but it was all gone away in a acouple week. started working out at the gym on my 4th week post op and have a little soreness but thats from no using muscles. i have just been walking alog

i was banded on wed oct 10th in monterrey mexico by dr zapada. i had a little pain the day following the surgery, other than that just soreness, was able to move around, actually flew home on the friday, walked out of the airport and drove home, just soreness when i would try to get out of bed or roll over, but other tahn that no pain, i took a total of 2 pain pills the day following the surgery and that was it

Do what feels best for you. i made the decision on my own , only a couple of my friends knew about it before i went . i told all them afterwards , well while i was there, i posted a bulletin on myspace just saying I survived surgery, wow my email started blowing up wanting to know what was going on, I am 3 weeks post op and feeling great, lost 29# so far. been doing mushys for a week now very small portions though i was scared too but so far so good. one thing my doctor said to stay away from is bread and pasta for awhile because it is sticky
