Hello everyone, This is my first post. I have been peeking at your site for months reading your posts. I'm scheduled for LB on 6/21. That's probably the first time I've said that outloud. My story is the familiar one. Yo-yo dieting, comfort eating, no time for me. I am truly hopeful that the LB will be a tool to overcome the many pitfalls and vicious cycle I have subjected myself to over the past 10 years. It's odd--I'm not scared, it's almost as if I can't believe it is true that I'm actually going to go through with this. What I have noticed the most while reading the posts these few months is that most everyone on this board who have/had weight issues are n…

Hello, I have been reading the posts on these boards with interest and have learned a lot of good/useful information. I have already met with a dietician at the BIDMC (Beth Israel) in Boston and submitted my application. I am waiting for one of the bariatric nurses to call me, and then they will get together as a group and decide if I am a good candidate. I contacted my health insurance carrier and I meet their criteria, so they should pay for the surgery (less my deductible of course! :biggrin1: ) I am hoping to have the surgery in October. It would be an ideal time for me to do it. I'm 290 pounds, 5'10", and looking forward to getting this weight off so I can.…

I suffer from PCOS, pre-diabetes, mild sleep apnea, and aches and pains that come from carrying around all of this extra weight. I went to WLSC in Newport News the other night for the informational seminar and was really impressed. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and learning from you!

I am eating more than half a cup at a time (as recommended) however I am still very hungry. I am able to eat everything I have tried including chicken without getting sick. I have absolutely no restriction. Is this normal as I haven't had a fill. Will a fill help me do better and eat less.

My new insurance kicks in on July 1st, so I can schedule anything until then, but I've only got a couple weeks to go. My name is Brandi, I'm 27 and I live in Baltimore. I've been married for a little under 2 years. One of my biggest motivators for doing this is so that I can have a baby in a few years. Hi, I have been doing some research about gettinging banded and I am going to attend an information session this week to find out more info. Can anyone tell me what has been the hardest part so far? My worries are that I am so attached to food, that just not being able to eat alot and not eat certain foods is going to be depressing, but I guess that is what has gotten me to this point and being overweight. I think that I have a good idea of what to expect, but hearing from people who have gone through this themselves is more helpful than reading about it. Also, how much weight should I expect to lose? I heard it is very hard to "not eat", especially when you have the smell of food around you. I am also concerned that I chose the right doctor for this - did anyone in R.I. have the band done by Dr. Dean Roye? It seems that everyone I talk to had it done by another doctor in R.I. who also does it. Also, how long was your hospital stay and how long were you out of work? I would appreciate any feedback on this subject. Thanks. Sweetpea51

I had lap band surgery in early February and have lost 25 pounds to date. The weight loss has been slow, however, the last two times I went in for a band adjustment, I have become very sick to my stomach. This last time I have noticed I am having a hard time keeping down liquids, as solids is not a option right now. I have also been experienceing when sleeping waking up coughing, which leads to throwing up. If I have them take out the saline they just put in, it appears my weight loss has come to a end. I'm now second guessing this procedure, and am ready to give up - has anyone else has any similiar experience - please advise.

I had my Surgery almost 6 weeks ago. And since then I been doing great. My questition is why do so many people on here right after surgery run to get a fill. I thought the purpose of the band was so that we now have a tool that we can use to help us control our food intake. I figure that would take at least about 2-3 months to do. But it seems like a lot of people get fills less than that time after surgery. I feel like you have'nt had enough time to know if you can do on your own or not. Does any else agree:confused:
