  1. My husband doctor recently outlined the next five years if he does not lose weight - High Blood Pressure, Arthritis ,Knee Replacements, Insulin Dependent Diabetes, Back Pain issues. Hearing those items put determination in him to get this taken care of and he wants us both to consult for it on 7/1 and both of us to get it done. I have read about the surgery but don't know much about the process before the surgery. I have tried dieting and exercise have lost and regained 20 to 60 pounds a dozen times in the past 15 years. I am interested in this "wait six months for surgery" that I am reading about, is that ever waived? I have been following this device and others s…

I need to lose about 6 lbs. before I can even request to have an appeal. I am so discouraged... I have starved myself, been weak, but still tried to keep my head up thinking that I would come out on top of this thing and it did not happen. Everytime I eat now, I think "Stupid, what are you doing to yourself?" I had all the faith in the lord that he would get me an answer quickly from BCBS and sure enough it happened, but I got the answer that I told myself was unacceptable. No was …

My sister turned me on to this site and it looks like a good place to get info and support on this topic. I still have to get the procedure okayed by my insurance company and should know something in the next few weeks. My appointments for the nutritionist and psychologist are on 30 June. I have lost a few pounds because of this but again am being told this is a healing time. I just feel like I am doung something wrong. …

I'm having surgery in SC, where I'm from. I had to pay for it myself because my insurance wouldn't cover it, even though I have state insurance. I have lost about 15 on the pre-op diet, but I was hoping to lose more. I'm already starting to gag drinking those shakes! Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm slightly bummed as I wanted the surgery in San Jose as the hospital here is 2 blocks from my house but I was approved for the SF hospital and that is where the Surgeon will be performing the surgeries in July. My surgeon is Dr. Cirangle. I will have exactly one month off before I have to get back in my classroom for the new school year. I am hopeful that I will feel totally fine by then.

I am 58, I have 200 ls to lose, and I have my first consultation next week. I can't seem to find any information on the net about how long it might take to lose this much weight. Many sites say 26 - 38 % of excess weight in 3 years. That's 60 lbs in 3 years, or 20 lbs a year. Do i need something this drastic to lose 20 lbs a year? Many sites also say 1 lbs a week for the 1st year, and then it slows down. So after a year, I would still need to lose 150 lbs. Any info would be much appreciated.
