  1. Hi, Has anybody out there had a lap band after having an RNY? I had the gastric bypass in 2000 and did very well (130 lbs. lost) for five years. Then, the pouch stretches over time, so my weight started to come back. This, unfortunately, is a common occurrence with gastric bypass. I am considering a lap band as you can adjust it as your stomach stretches. I have heard of people getting the lap band after the RNY (AL ROKER from Good Morning America did it) but would love to talk to someone who has done it. Please can you respond if you have done this. Thanks, Zena
  2. Thanks for the warning! I will bring some "Depends" with me when I get my surgery!!
  3. Hi Doddie, I live in Vancouver and am scheduled for a lap band at TLBC on Aug 6th. I would LOVE to talk to you. Do you have an email that I could contact you at? Thanks, Zena
  4. Hi everyone, Has anybody out there had a lap band after an RNY? I had an RNY in 2000 and did well, but have now gained back 40 lbs. and am terrified. I am thinking to get a lap band on top of my RNY. The "pouch" of an RNY stretches over time, but a lap band you can adjust. If anybody out there has done that, please can you write in with your experience. Thanks! Zena
  5. Please can you tell me when the next meeting in Vancouver will be? Thanks! Zena
  6. Hello, I just discovered this website and love it! I had an RNY in 2000 and lost 130 lbs. I kept it off for five years and then slowly started to gain weight back. I am now about 35-40 lbs. back and am terrified. I am scheduled to get a lap band over my RNY in August. I want to know if anybody out there has also done this. The other option for RNYers is to get a Stomaphyx, where they staple your stomach and basically tighten it up. I know two people who have done that and one of them, 43 of the 52 staples fell out, and the other one...her stomac stretched again (as it does for all RNYers after a while). Also, my lap band is scheduled for TLBC in Toronto. Has anybody been there? Where do you get your fills in BC? Thanks in advance for any and all help! Zena
  7. Hello, I have just discovered the website and need some advice. I want to know if anybody had a lap band after having an RNY. I had an RNY in 2000 and it served me very well for about 5 years. I lost 130 lbs quickly and kept it off for five years. Slowly I have regained about 40 lbs and am terrified that I will end up where I started. I think my pouch has stretched and am considering a lap band over my RNY. If anybody out there has done this, PLEASE could you share your story with me and let me know if/how it worked for you. MAny thanks and I love this site! Zena
