  1. I'm nervous too ! Actually very nervous about the things you mentioned, esp. having this thing on my stomach forever. I've talked to doctors and patients and you have to accept this fact - it's not a short term solution. I'm not quite there yet. But, what has made the most sense to me is looking back at my own history - I've been on a million diets for the past 25 years, with no lasting success; as with many people, I'm much heavier now than when I started. If it takes a "forever" tool to get me healthy, I may have to accept a "forever" approach. I also think the thing to do is to talk to your doctor or her/his office for some reassurance and information. Good luck - and I think some nervousness is very very natural, but be sure you're really ready. This is for you !!
  2. Hey. I posted yesterday, but this is my real introduction to this group and all of you. I'm about 75 lbs overweight and have been on a diet of some sort for 25 years. I continue to struggle and have recently learned about the lapband. It sure seems to work, but isn't magic. All of you are working really hard to get healthy. I wonder if I could do it.
  3. I've never posted before today (and was worried about saying what I was afraid of). I really appreciate all your replies, honesty and COURAGE !! Thanks.
  4. I've been learning about the lapband and know I need to - and want to - do this but am afraid - scared by the mechanics. Do you feel the band inside you? Do you get used to knowing it's in there? Do you get used to feeling the port? All help welcome !! Thanks.
