So i got some bad news from my insurance company they are not coverin the surgery its excluded from my policy so i decided to switch insurances! Im switchin to personal choice ppo which is great insurance and they cover bariatric surgery which is what i want. The only thing im not sure of is how long i have to wait. There is a clause with the company stating that the company will not pay benefits during the first 12 months of the policy for any medical condition or illness for which medical advice or treatment was recommended or received within the 12 month period. So basically once i get this new insurance i can call the bariatrics clinic and let them find out if i get approved. Did anyone else have to go through this switichin insurances and everything? Let me know!

1 year and 1/2 ago I was with a company that didn't approve lapband and the insurance was Cigna. I started my new company in 7/24/07 and was banded 3/17/08 - I was not aware of the waiting period, but I asked my doctor for advice to assist in weightloss then he sent referral for me to Bariatric department and three 1/2 months later I had appointment for surgery. I had eight years of ups and downs with weightloss and weightgain. Please speak with your primary and check in with your insurance to ask all the questions to make sure everything is in place. Thanx for your reply..i applied for personal choice and got accepted my new insurance starts 7/1/08 the only thing im worried about is they have a 12 month clause the clinic im workin with said they will try there best to help me out so im hopin everything goes smooth! Hopefully my new life will begin soon. Thanx for your somment and support
