Hey Everyone My name is Joanna I normally type way too much and give documentary type introductions, (trust me) so I will keep this short. sweet and say A lot in my life has changed Including my recent sleeve surgery. I didn't get the surgery to be skinny to be able to date again. I did it to be healthy and feel sexy again. And I haven't dated, in....... many years. I am a widow. And I had 10 wonderful years with my late husband. But it's been over three years and my life is changing and Id like to try again, try dating. No, not dating, I don't know how that would even go.. Maybe just go out, ? Is that what it's called? I don't know if 39 year olds da…

    Started by Guest,

Over the course of a few months now I have been reading many resources on the matter of post op lifestyle and one of the topics that intrigued me was on dating. Many WLS professionals (counselors, doctors etc) are rather adamant in their assertion that most patients should wait until after one year past their surgery date to consider dating again. It's been quite a while for me already so waiting until the one year mark ain't nothing but a thang. I would imagine though for some acquiring a new found self confidence and of course increasing hormonal drives, that dating and wanting to meet the special someone to share their continued journey with, may find a year to be…

  11. Hi there I'm a 34 year old single woman with Wanderlust who is currently living in Houston TX. I have many family members who have gone through WLS but none of them live in Texas. I'd love to have a friend near my age going through the surgery around the same time (mine is scheduled for Aug) to compare stories about shopping for clothes, working out, dating, adjusting work schedules, etc. If that person happens to live near by or travels to Houston all the better, but online friends are of course also welcome!

I'm 30 years old and I never really dated. I haven't had weight loss surgery, I'm trying to lose weight on my own without surgery and doing well. I've went from 470 to 430 in about two months. I'm not ready to meet women yet as I wanted to be under 300 before I do that. I'm not sure how to do it. I've always avoided socializing but I feel a big reason I gained so much weight was due to loneliness. I created an online account but didn't add any information or pictures, just wanted to look. I see a lot of women I am interested in but I have no idea how to introduce myself or what I should say. If it progresses to a date I have no idea what to do or where to go on a date. I…

I can understand that people have their personal preferences. I just wish people were more understanding and open minded. I am a pretty open minded, laid back, honest person with a good sense of humor. I can listen to all different types of music. I like different types of movies too. I am a hopeless romantic. I struggle with anxiety, but I am working on bettering myself and my life. I am also working on losing weight and getting into shape. I had the sleeve gastrectomy 10/27/2017. I am the typ…

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this website. I have not had a date in a very long time and feel that I am ready to start. You have to pay for a membership which for me would be about $30.00 a month but they guarantee that if you don't meet someone in 6 months that they will give you six months free. Any insite would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All! I am divorced (3 years), I was married for 28. I had VSG 3 1/2 years ago, and I am down 140 lbs. Woot! Woot! I am very happy with the results and I love my new body! BUT, I wonder, could my 'not so perfect' body be why my relationships have stalled out? No one has EVER said anything, and I would NEVER ask. But, I really do wonder. Are men (no offense guys, that is just who I am dealing with) REALLY that shallow? I can't imagine that there are that many woman, my age (I am 50 & a Mom of Twins) who have perfectly flawless bodies? With or without WLS! Maybe this ISN'T what's going on with my relationships, but, honestly, I am THIS CLOSE to starting o…

So, I'm a complicated widow of almost 4 years. I've tried the online dating thing a few times. Once quite recently. Because of my size I hate my full body picture taken. So I don't have many. I actually found one on my phone the other day and sent it to a man I'd been speaking to (texting with) and within hours of receiving the picture, he mysteriously loses his phone we've been texting on and he starts texting from a phone with a number from another state! I had high hopes for this one, too. It took a lot of guts on my part to send him that picture to begin with. Now I'm questioning all the strength I built up to send it in the first place. It's like it's gone. If I ca…

Hey all! So I'm a 31 year old, newly divorced, Mom of an amazing 2 year old boy. I'm a year post op VSG, down 102 pounds and only 9 pounds from goal. My ex husband also had VSG at the same time I did, lost a significant amount of weight and began an affair with a co-worker. I'm finding it to be difficult to adjust to life, not only adjusting to life in my new body but now also single. The prospect of dating is more than slightly terrifying. It can get lonely at times, not only dealing with the emotional part of WLS but also now starting over. Is it this scary for anyone else?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Talking on the computer is easy, meeting someone and being able to speak, I'm just not there yet.

  35. Who doesn't like a good horror story? As we approach Halloween, it seems like a good time to recount our favorite dating horror story. I hope this will inspire those who are wondering if the grass is greener in the single world to work on their relationships . I meet most of my dates online. I like to email, text and talk to them on the phone and then eventually meet for a quick coffee date. You would think with all that screening you could figure out who's sane before you go out to dinner. <Sigh>, not always. I had my first dine and dash last month. We were supposed to just meet for drink, but the conversation got really good and I really liked her compan…

  36. Unlike most people in the U.S. who are rushing around getting ready to enjoy this long weekend, I'm kind of dreading it. This weekend marks the 3rd un-anniversary of me ending my last relationship. We weren't married, but we were together seven years, lived together for 6. It was not a pretty break up. It just so happens that all of my friends are out of town this weekend or off doing things with their families, I'm struggling with my new business, so I can't really afford to travel right now and I have no family anywhere remotely nearby. So, being solitary this long holiday weekend is going to be a bit rough for me. It's particularly tough being a sleever at times…

  41. Online dating has been an adventure. I recently thought I had met someone truly compatible. After 2 months, he tells me (in a text, btw) that he thinks we should both move on. None of the reasons he gave made sense and I could tell he was holding something back. Finally, he typed the words "I have never been with a heavy woman." I was stunned as we had been intimate several times and he commented that it was the best ever in his life, etc. I have lost 15 lbs since we started dating and 82 lbs total. He knows about my surgery and that I am shrinking. While I know I will get over this, I feel defeated and frustrated.

Hi there, So a few months back I started online dating and I haven't really connected with anyone yet. I know that these things take time and that I just need to be patient but I'm pretty sure that women just aren't interested with my profile. However, I've been toying with the idea of exploring the bar scene or just going out on Friday and Saturday nights more often to try to meet people. Many have said that the likelihood of meeting someone truly substantive with this would be less than online dating, but frankly I'd like to explore it now that I've lost close to 150 lbs (almost... there!) and I'd like to try talking with people. Maybe to get further contacts? Mayb…
