I had RNY surgery a year ago but I'm still lacking in making solid connections with others. It's hard to relate when I feel like I always have a secret to hide (loose skin, surgery, etc.) It would be nice to make some new friends and maybe even more! I'd prefer to talk through messages and not through the public forums, so feel free to message! [emoji4] Hopefully I'm not speaking to the wind.

ha anyone had any issues with excess skin, especially around the belly that prevents dating?

This is more of a venting than anything else. I find being single now after I have lost alot of weight harder than before the surgery. I knew why I was single when I was heavy. I have not been on a date since loosing weight. I have tried single sites, going out dancing even trying to recruit friends at work. People tell me how well i'm doing and that I look good now but still no success. I have not always been heavy and dated plenty before I gained the weight so I know how to talk to the oppisite sex. has any one else been through this. before you say it I know.....just give it time but it still sucks.

I am 40 years old. I have never been in any sort of romantic relationship. I have never done any kissing or any other activities of that nature. I have only been on one actual date, as in actually going out with a woman for the purposes of potential romance.

Hi im Amy. I moved since my wife and divorced after 10 years. I did the surgery for myself because im going to be 50 and wanted to live. I started at 325 down to 258. Dec 6th was surgery 2019. So 2020 watch out world. I have back issues and other health stuff, but you know the weight needs to go first. I will make my first goal at 240 that is the weight i can ride a horse. Its nice to be able to be me on this. Amy

I’ve lost 145lbs to date and feel great. I’m also single for the first time in my life, and have been on the dating scene for about a year. Dating has been a struggle because I am very open with my journey. I have lots of before and after Instagram pics and talk about it frequently. Weight loss is definitely my biggest personal accomplishment. It’s always a tipping point when I’m out with someone for the first time, trying to explain it to people who haven’t been or knows anyone who has gone through it. Hey everyone! I am 39 years old and I have been single for about two months after a six year long relationship. I have the VSG about a year and a half ago, losing about 65 pounds, dropping from 241 to 176. I would love to lose more but as hard as I have been trying, I think my body is just happy at this point. I’m not looking to date so much as find new friends. My parents recently moved out of state and now a really good friend is in the process of moving out of state, as well. They are my personal support group and, while i have other friends and acquaintances (not many), I’m not near as comfortable sharing/discussing my surgery and struggles. They either have no way of understanding or think it’s willpower and taking the easy way out. I live about an hour from Louisville, KY. Nearly two years out from Sleeve surgery. Stalled/stuck/struggling — any other word for not being fully successful but not done striving for it.

I’m just frustrated with dating. Two years after surgery I know I will always need to be vigilant to keep weight off. I can’t be with someone who struggles with food or isn’t active. I’ll get sucked right into their lifestyle. It makes me feel shallow, even though I know it shouldn’t, and it limits the dating pool. Wow, I didn't realize there was a forum for dating on here. Dating for me has always been a nightmare. I didn't start dating until I was 22 and I stopped when I was 28. It was such an awful experience. People are truly horrible. I met some of the weirdest, most disgusting and vile men on the planet. I have just been approved and I have a sleeve surgery date for June 4th. I don't want to wait years before I start dating again. It's already been almost 2 years. I would like to meet a guy who has gone through WLS or is pre-op, like myself. So, I'm putting myself out there. I'm 36, and I'm a teacher who enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures. I haven't dated in YEARS. I met someone I'm really interested in and our mutual activity ends tomorrow. My surgery was on 2/12. I have been taking time off from dating to focus on myself. I think it would be better to wait until I'm at least at my goal weight. I am concerned what kind of guys will be into me when I am skinny though. I haven't ever been small. The men who usually hit on me say they like curvy women... what if they don't like me when I am 148 lbs.

hello I just had my sleeve surgery on March 7 still on my liquids..Thursday will be my first follow up with my dr. hopefully I'll start eating soup...its harder than I thought....ANYONE ELSE TAKE MEDICATION!!! on a daily...now when I was in the hospital the nurse would crush my medications now I been doing it at home but taste horrible....is it safe to just take my pills like that without smashing it???

I feel so alone. No true friends or family and partner...forget about that. Really would live just to talk to someone have some laughs etc. Been feeling down and out and since Nov ive been eating more.
