Not sure if I should just give up on trying to date right now. I found myself confused to say...I'm not myself physically right now. And its frustrating because I haven't been heavy all my life so being turned down for what seems to be my weight is soo discouraging. I know they aren't worth my time however still upsetting.

Am I the only one who thinks finding a great christian guy in Columbus Ohio is hard.. I hope it gets a bit easier after surgery this summer 2018 ?

Hi! I was thinking since it is towards the end of November (and since I am new to the site) if all the people who had (or will be having surgery)surgery in Nov of 2018 want to get a private facebook page or group chat for extra support I am happy to make a page or whatever works!!! Just wanna be able to talk to people who are in the same boat time-frame -wise as I am! Let me know!

I had the original plan of not "worrying" about getting into the dating scene until I had gone through my weight loss, plastic surgery, etc. I wanted to spend the next 2 years focusing on just me and my health. I was talking about this with my mother and she thinks it would be better to start dating someone before I lost the weight, so I know they care about me no matter my size. Personally, I feel more comfortable waiting so I am comfortable with myself and not adding to stress. That being said, did you tell your new partner after you lost weight that you had weight loss surgery? Did you mention it in your dating profile? I feel like I want to be upfront that, hey,…

Broke up with my significant other a few months before surgery, I dated around a bit in those few months but once I went in for surgery I decided to delete all my dating profiles and pretty much stop looking for someone in order to focus on myself. I. Not about 6 weeks out from surgery and I'm starting to get antsy. How long did all of you single people wait before going back into the dating scene? I have a lot of worries about dating now like not being able to eat or drink, my body changing drastically over the next year so my potential partner would have to adjust with me, finding someone who is on the same page with me eating/health wise...

Anyone out there in the San Diego area?

I was divorced 2008 after separating 2005 from a husband who decided he didnt want to support me through medical school after all, so took the kids back to the US, and enrolled in a post grad degree. Then he decided he liked boys better, so... divorced and no dating at all. To be fair, I chose to quit med school to raise my kids rather than leave them with their dad, but fast forward to now, and I am 3 months post op from a VGS and headed to the UK for a few months. My life is in flux. Kids have all flown the nest, a job injury left me on the pittance called social security disability and not really sure HOW I could date again at 56.

I'm brand new to the forum and looking for a buddy near or far, who has in the past. Or currently is struggling with weight loss. I've been overweight all my life and am thinking about weight loss surgery, and no diets have ever helped me lose weight. Thanks for reading!

Where do you go to meet people? I’m not a bar or club person. And I live in a fairly remote area. Do people still use Match.com or anything? I’m not necessarily looking for something super serious but the last time I was on one of those sites it seemed to be full of people who never wanted to meet or I’d just get random inappropriate pictures.

Dating sucks, it's so much more of a hook up culture now and communication is non existent. I wish I would have had the surgery in my 20's because maybe I would have had a different outlook on dating. Being in a tourist city doesn't help either! Most of my friends are coupled up so going out I'm always the third wheel. Was hoping after surgery those days were over but here I am... anyway just a small rant but would love to meet some new friends in the area or close in the neighboring states!

I have been single for a very long time at least 10 years. I never thought myself to be worthy of a relationship prior because I was ashamed of how I looked. Now that I have had bypass surgery and have lost a total of 180 lbs from my highest weight I'd like to find someone. Don't get me wrong I still have a long way to go on this journey I am still very much over weight but not nearly as over weight as I once was. I still have self esteem issues but I think putting myself out there and dating again could help with that too. It's been so long since I've went through the dating phase it's like I've forgotten how to date I have no idea where to even start. I am quite shy in …

Hi all! I’m a newcomer to this site and I’m just at the very beginning of WLS, so much at the beginning in fact that I haven’t even spoken to my doctor about it yet as I’m still doing my research. I’ve posted one or two questions on here but I’ve only gotten 1 reply so far. I always feel like I never fit in anywhere and I really want to. I’d love to make a group of friends on here that I can chat to and get advice on WLS. There is no one in my life right now who knows I am wanting surgery and I am pretty sure that none of them would be supportive or understanding if they did know. Many of my family members are set in their ways of thinking surgery is an easy way out an…

Sooo i realize this is super random, crazy, unconventional and all that, but that’s kind of what i’m known for lol, so here goes nothing! ? So i’m in 4 other bariatric related groups online with thousands of members (most of them are women based but i would like to open this up to everyone) I’m noticing that sooooo many of those posts are not wls related at all but dating/ relationship questions right and people love to answer them and help each other out. So my thought is to start judgement free thread where you can literally ask whatever you want related to the topic, nothing is off limits and maybe we all can help each other out. No shame. Nothing should ev…

Yesterday I took off my shirt, left on my jeans and belt and stepped in front of the mirror half naked for the first time in a long time. Although I've come across quite a few women that haven't scarred, my incisions are a dark brown, darker than my skin. I can see them without my glasses. All of the places where my stomach was full and round have started to ripple where the fat is gone and skin is there. I stared at my grandmother's breasts when I was younger, thinking thank god that isn't me. My breasts are slack in their cups. My arms don't look like they have floaty devices on under my shirt, but if I hold my arms out I hear Bette Midler singing Wind Beneath My Wings.…

Hi [emoji1309] I had gastric bypass in 1999. I’ve kept the weight off since but it’s difficult meeting men who understand what I went through. I’m at a time in my life where I would really like to meet someone special.

Just wanted to say Hi All! I'm new to this app and to the Bariatric journey. I'm still in process of trying to get my sleeve. Hoping it happens this summer! I joined here in hopes of making friends and support from those that "get it" and who knows maybe click with a special someone! Dating just got a lot more complicated with this whole thing lol. So, any and all advice/suggestions about surgery, life, whatever... are more than welcome! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal App

I don't know about the rest of you but we live in a world where finding love means swiping right and hoping for the best. Hello I'm Stephanie, I'm 26 years old. I'm new to the site and would love to make some friends, text buddies, or pen pals. So I'm what you would call Terminally Single, been that way for about 7 years now and I'm not sure it's ever going to change. It feels like the guys I'm into either A. don't want to be with a fat girl. B. are emotionally stunted, C. into weird fetishes (foodie/feeder I know I'm fat but that doesn't get my jollys off.) or D. Crazy, bat **** crazy. Maybe I'm too picky, maybe I'm the crazy one, but I found it interestin…

I’ve had my sleeve since my 26th birthday, I’ll be 30 in September! Ever since I revised my lap band to the sleeve everything has changed drastically. People started to look at me differently and not in just a friend way. I’ve been friend zoned pretty much my whole life, I can say with confidence that I have never truly been in a relationship. I always get the, “how is that possible!?” Believe me it is possible and has been this way my whole life. I’m not weird by any means, hahaha. My sister says I don’t realize when someone likes me and by that time the opportunity is gone. I’m still trying to figure out this whole dating thing but unfortunately have gotten no where. I …

I want someone to laugh with, work out with, who "gets" my whole WLS excitment.. I guess I am wanting companionship. But from whom? Right. We don't want any stray cat, right? A guy who is nice, obviously, who laughs and will make me laugh, someone who works, and who understands that I don't. Someone who is a christian and who will handle that I am a widow I am excited to date again. It's been 3 years and I am 39 years old. I still have a lot of life left. I don't want someone with all the right lines and I don't have to really be won over. I like romance and chivarly is nice but I'm more impressed with honesty and transparency I'm honest, have bee…

If I find something, then cool. If not... That's cool too. I'm probably sounding some type of way right now or whatever but I just feel like putting myself out there. I feel like when I try with someone who hasn't had the surgery, they just don't understand me at all... Or just anything for that matter. (Would have left a picture but they wouldn't let me). So I'm 22 and have never been on a date before. I decided to try POF (online dating) and have guys messaging me now. I've been interested in a few and they always ask why I'm single. I like to be honest so I tell the ones I'm really interested in that I was shy and overweight most of my life (or something like that) and that I recently had VSG. Some take it well, others don't ( I don't really care lol) My problem is that this is completely uncharted territory for me, and I'm just not sure how to act. I don't really want it to be obvious that I've never dated when we go out. Because I have no idea how to be with someone as more than friends. It's bad enough to deal w…

It seems in the past two years that I have gone out with about 6 guys. All of them seem a little weird out that I do not eat that much in front of them. I hate to order a big meal, so I don't. And of course, I do not drink another thing they seem to think is weird. Does anyone else have this problem? I usually get through one date and never asked out again. :/
