I have a question, I just got a fill last Wednesday, which was my second fill. After my two days of liquids, I ate normal portion controlled amounts and had no problems and felt no more restriction than before for the past three days and then last night, I had a "stuck" episode which got my attention, I was able to get it down with some Water. I may have taken too big of a bit or didn't chew well enough. But my question is, has anyone had delayed restriction after a fill, say didn't feel the restriction until a week later? I would have thought that the stuck episode was an isolated incident but I just took a couple of Advil capsules, one at a time, and they felt very…

I started as a low BMI bandster who needed to lose because I have spinal arthritis and small kids. I have lost 31 lbs in a year but struggle to eat healthy and its especially hard since I cant seem to get the restriction right. I either dont feel it or Im getting stuck on teeeeny well chewed bites. I have had so many fills and infills. Now its going to come down to just being disciplined even though I dont have the restriction to help me. I would love a local NY area mentor who has had success and lasting weight loss. I am 46 years old, a professional, and a mom...not that it matters...we ALL have food issues here... but just in case it resonates w someone out ther…

When I had my surgery in 2007 I was still having a period and I noticed that during that time (pre, during & post) I had a dificult time eating. The band seemed tighter and I just assumed it was from the bloating and everything else that goes along with that time. But ...now I am in the menopausal period of my life and have not had my period in over 2 years however, like clockwork, once a month (or more) I experience the same tightness and can go 3-4 days without being able to keep anything down. Not even liquids. I don't feel bloated. Has anyone had this experience? Is menopause the culprit? If so, what is making this happen and are there any tricks to gettin…

Well, my thanksgiving was good, I did good. Here's my problem. Friday around noon, I broke out into Hives. I can't figure out why. Nothing new, soaps or food. Nothing strange. I went to the doctor Saturday morning, because by the time I realized it was necessary to go, everywhere was closed and made no sense to go to the ER. They pumped me with steroids, nothing worked. Monday, went to immediate care and they did blood tests, and sent me to the allergist. I am on all kinds of antihistamines which is messing with my stomach. I can barely eat normal foods. My tastes are weird. And with being on the steroids I feel like I've ballooned up. Though it might only be …

I think it would be good to post your surgery day experience to kind of prepare those that come after us. Mine was good but with a bit of a twist this was mine: I got Banded on Nov 22 2013 I checked into the hospital at 730 in the morning. The took me to pre OP and have me all my stuff gorgeous gown, non slip granny socks and that ever so stylish cap for my head. I was the height of surgical fashion. I stayed there for a while and they brought in several people to talk to about their role in my surgery. Then they sent in the nurse who would start my IV. Now this was fun let me tell you. Now you can't drink or eat after midnight before so you come in dehydrated. So …

Other than the Dr. recommended list, was there something you didn't have you wish you took/packed after surgery in the hospital? I read my list which was very little information. I only know to wear lose comfy clothing, I may stay overnight, no ice, no gum or mints, and chapstick for dry lips. What OTC meds can I take afterwards and should all meds be liquid form, never pill after?

Calling all 2005 and older bandsters.... As a group we have been way to quiet as of late. Where have we all gone? I don't know about the rest of you but at this point in my band journey I think it would be good for me to reconnect with some of my fellow "old-timers". I love the energy and enthusiasm of the newer bandsters but sometime I would like to have a forum to come talk to others that have been at this as long as I have (or longer).

I'm 6 months out and still don't really know what a 'normal' plate size is. I hear 1/2 cup, 1 cup, small plate with 1/2 Protein, 1/4 veggies, 1/4 carbs. I also heard "I can only take a few bites and I'm satisfied." For those of you in the green, how much are you eating to be satisfied for 4 hours? Thanks!

I know this has been discussed at some point, but I want to address it again….. I've been having bits of fleeing panic over the idea that I (we) can lose bariatric coverage with all the health insurance changes coming down the pike. I'm safe for 2014, but what happens after that? My fear is, if I lose bariatric coverage, and have issues that require surgical intervention, how will I pay for it? This scares the crap out of me, and I'm thinking……if I do lose the coverage, I may just have the surgery reversed prior to that happening. And that in itself is a scary proposition! There are still many unknowns with the current flux in the healthcare system. I've heard a …

Has anybody tried Body by vi shakes? If so, what was your experience with them? Are they worth the money? And do they help with the liquid phase? I'm thinking about ordering them but I don't want to be scammed. I am stuck at 182 pounds and I'm afraid I'm going to gain since it's getting colder outside. Thanks!!

I'm seeing alot of posts from folks with January surgery dates and I can't help but think about how I was a newbie this time a year ago. I joined this site just shy of a year ago and read lots and lots of posts because I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was scared to death of what the future would hold...whether or not I would be able to live successfully as a banded person...and mostly...would this work when nothing else did. A year ago I was morbidly obese, on blood pressure medication for years, and most importantly, in constant pain from arthritis in my knees. I was told by my doctor that I was not a good candidate for knee replacement and after seei…

Last night was my monthly support group at the hospital. My dietitian recommended using Nectresse (made by Splenda) instead of Truvia (which I have been using). I went to Nectresse's site and they offer samples and coupons. I drink about 8-12 cups of iced tea and hot tea a day and use a sweetener, never lemon or other flavors.

I had lapband in May of 2013, I have 8.75 cc in my 14 cc band and I'm not yet in the green zone. I feel like I'm never going to get there and that it is a "fantasy feeling" that everyone talks about. Not to mention, I can't get my mind on the right track. I feel like I'm fighting the same fight from before lap band. I'm on track and doing great for 2 days and then all hell breaks loose. I don't even want to tell you what I ate today!!!! I feel like a failure.

I'm really hoping to lose 60 lbs by May (my trip to England!) and I want to get as low weight as possible as my last trip there was miserable with 11 hour flights and 3 planes each way. What would my 100+ loss weight goal buddies recommend for calories burned? I'm at (not banded till next week) like 290 right now. Thoughts?

I am beyond frustrated with everything lapband related at the moment. I had my lapband about 6 years ago. I did okay at first and in all lost 62 lbs. Unfortunately that only brought me down to 220lbs so obviously I have a long way to go. With my goal weight being about 150 I still have a ridiculous long road ahead of me. That would not be a problem if my band was working for me, however, that is not the case. About a year and a half ago I was having restriction so much that I was throwing up in my sleep. Also, still not losing any weight which still boggles my mind. I went in reluctantly and had some of the fill taken out. I was under the impression that the Dr. …

Hello I'm recently scheduled for surgery on 12-17-13 after about a 4 year process. I've heard of ports being placed on Tummy, chest, and under arm pit area. I'm curious if placement makes any difference ie working out , being able to see it or fills.

Hi. I'm 38, married, mom to one. I live in Illinois and am a secretary. I've been approved for a band, my surgery date is 1/21/14 and I'm excited and nervous. One day I think this is the best thing I'll ever do and the next I'm worried it will be the biggest mistake ever. I have SO far to go and have failed so many times before I just want to be successful. When they asked me what my goal was I said to be able to buy clothes that aren't plus size. It's not too much to ask for and such a simple thing, but I feel like it's SO far away. Anyway, I'd love a buddy in this process.

I'm going in for a check-up with my family doctor soon. He normally only does lab work for A1C, cholesterol, thyroid, CBC...just common stuff. I was wondering what are other good levels to have checked now that I'm banded (9 months post-op). What specific Vitamin levels, for example, should I ask him to check? The only problem I'm having that makes me wonder if I'm vitamin deficient is because my hair is still falling out. There's a lot of new growth too, but it's still coming out in handful in the shower. Thank you all!

Hello everyone! I was looking for somewhere to look for info, and have support while I go through this process. I am 22 years old, and I'm 5'5", weighing 315 lbs. I decided in June of this year I wanted to look into lap band. I went to a seminar, and shortly after that had an appointment with the surgeon. Now just yesterday (December 3rd) I finished my last appointment for my 6 month nutritionist/physician requirement for my insurance. So now I'm getting the rest of the process started! I am very excited for this step in my life, because I have never been a healthy weight for a majority of my life! It would be awesome to hear from fellow people and share suppor…

I'm not sure what makes this new forum so uncomfortable but I just don't feel the love anymore. There's something detached about this site and I suspect others feel the same way. I seldom see any of the veteran posters posting any longer. I see fewer topics started and even then the topics have few replies which devalues the site altogether. What happened to the "Trending Topics" on the right side of the screen. And the blogs? Now I see very old topics with no reply. Why reply to a topic or a question posted 4 months ago? And it does seem like many of the forum members who relied on an IPhone app or a Samsung app have now wandered away or just can't navigate thi…

Has anyone ever tried the pasteurized liquid egg whites? I bought some and I'm looking for some good recipes. You can add them to anything like protein shakes or juice and it adds about 20 extra grams of protein and they have no flavor so it's not noticeable. I've made eggnog and it is really good.
