  2. After nearly a year of preparation, jumping through hoops, setbacks and jumping through more hoops, my "stuff" was submitted to Cigna for approval last Wednesday. As a low BMI gal, I'm hoping my comorbidities are enough to please them. The suspense is killing me! Focusing on giving up my beloved Diet Coke and hydrating. Guess that needs to be done regardless of the insurance outcome. That is all. Have a great night!

I'm really trying not to gain weight. So I'm strictly following this diet. But look King for buddies out there. Let me know

But I didn't read the guide lines of what to eat what days and have been on clear liquid diet for 5 days. I just added milk to my full liquid diet and protein mix. So anything helps. let me know

Hi: Has anybody had blood in their band Fluid? I've been banded 14 months. Not been having many issues. I had some tightness issues a while back. I was so tight that I couldn't bend without losing my morning coffee. I had to get unfilled 8 days ago. Yesterday got refilled. Today had pain in band area and went to get a slight unfill. Doc said he was going to empty my band because there was blood in the fluid. Then he put new fluid in, but a little less than last fill. I don't have any pain, but I'm still on liquids. Yesterday I didn't have any pain. The pain started the morning after the fill. How the heck do you get blood in the band fluid? Should I be…

So I had surgery on June 15. I am down 10lbs from following the pre and post op surgery diet but I'm starting to get hungry and I won't get my first fill until after I come back from vacation (my doc preferred I wait until after I come back) on Aug. 17. That's exactly 2 months from surgery. I'm worried I won't lose anymore weight from now until my fill because of this gnawing little hunger I'm starting to get back since my swelling is down. I guess I thought I'd see more weight loss at this point. I seem to lose a pound or two and then I weigh myself and it's back to just the 10lb weight loss. I guess I just need to stick to more Protein and less everything else. I …

I'm on pre op diet and currently weight 226.4! I'm hoping to get to 222.0 by next Thursday. We'll see! Let's get to talking!

  13. I got my band Jan 2013. I got it filled very tight in only 6 mos. 10 3/4cc in a 14 cc band because I was not feeling any restriction. I seemed to be fine. I could feel the band when I pressed my stomach because it was so big but I thought all was okay. It did take me a really long time to eat meals 45 min to 1 hr. but I could eat anything from steak to very large vitamin pills and no throwing up. I did have the feeling that things were going slow down my throat or even stopping before they entered the pouch. I lost about 80 lbs. But in April 2014 I had my first of 3 hospital visits because of esophageal spasms. My throat locked up behind my adam's apple. I could breathe b…

  14. Hello everyone! It's been some time since my last update. I am almost five months post op and have had @ 5 fills. I finally lost 3 lbs. with the last fill. My problem is that I was thinking I may bet too tight since I was vomiting most meals and having a lot of PBing. However, as of 2 weeks ago, I found that if I drink warm tea/coffee with my meals, I am able to keep it down if I eat very slowly. I have only vomited x 2 since and PBing x 1 today. My issue is that I am starving all the time. If I am too tight, why am I hungry so frequently? I have an appt to see my doc in 3 weeks (he's on vacation). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My weight loss has been very slow…

In 2014 my band slipped , and I a complete unfill. Of course some of the weight I lost came back, but not too much because I was still working out. Getting myself back on track has been hard. My PA suggested I have an Endoscopy to make sure the band didn't slip again. I was a nervous wreck. The doctor confirmed that all was good, and I was relieved. They added 0.25 to my band. This was my first fill since January 2015. I feel the difference. I can eat , but the fullest comes after three or four chew sessions with my meal. I'm less hungry between meals .....lasting at minimum 4 hours. I'm tighter in the mornings , so I just drink some water and then eat my oatmeal 30 minu…

So I had my first fill today, I had 4.5ml put into a 10ml band, the nurse said I should sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes and drink 2 cups of Water before I leave to make sure everything is ok, so I start to drink the water and can instantly feel that it's not going down smoothly, had to go back in and had 1ml removed, but now I feel like I've hardly got any restriction at all, I'm so surprised at how much difference that 1ml made and now feel that I'll be waiting another few weeks before I see any significant weight loss ????. Anyone think I'll be able to take more of a fill in a few weeks?

Went to a baby shower on Saturday for the daughter of a dear friend of mine. We've been friends for more than 40 years so I know her family well. The last time I saw many of them was for the wedding of the mom to be when she was a bride two years ago. I got lots of comments on how good I looked. I was ready for them and was very gracious. Then cousin Ettie comes over and tells me that she didn't recognize me and that (in a stage whisper) I lost alot of weight. Twice she said it. I know it took everything she had to not ask how I did it, which I appreciated but it was still unnerving the way she swooped in on me and got up into my face. I have relatives just like this s…

They are all willing to be supportive and I am grateful, but I seem to be encountering an issue with my boyfriend that I'm not sure how to handle. A brief history: he and I were hig…

I've had some what of an epiphany this week!!! Last week I posted about a bit of a light bulb moment about needing to change things along the way to make the most out of my band. In that, I decided to do a lot more research and re-educate myself about how the lapband works. This week I've realised that I've been eating too much slider foods and not enough of the stuff that will send the signal to my brain that I am satisfied, being foods that need to be chewed well and pass through the band at a steady pace. I'm nearly 8 months out and I've just had this realisation now. I have to say though, that I really need to give a huge big shout out to @Bandista. I've al…

I was at my sweet spot, completely satisfied and happy with my progress. About a year ago, I started getting sick every time I would eat anything. I called the doctor, he took some Fluid out, and I was okay again. 5 months ago the same thing started happening again, only now in the middle of the night I would wake up choking, and throwing up black liquids. Honestly, the first time this happened, I had a small brownie that afternoon so didn't think to much about it. Only, over the next few months …

I went to get a fill one day and, my original doctor wasn't there so there was a nurse that did my fill for me. Hi friends. I went for a bone density scan on Saturday morning. Like alot of small white women, I have bone loss and the start of osteoperosis. So I take supplements and get a bone scan every year to keep an eye on everything. This year they wanted the spine along with the forearm so I got my spine scanned and the tech said they may not be able to read it all because of the band being in the way. I looked at the monitor and there it was....clear as a bell just floating there in my midsection. This is the first time I've really seen it. When I get the fluoroscopy, I don't see the band very well..it just looks like a Rorschach test to me. But this bone scan showed it cle…

  41. Hi I am new to Bariatric Pal. I was sleeved on 2/25/15 and doing great. My husband is thinking about weight loss surgery. Ten years ago he had a major health crisis and need a colostomy. After he recovered it was reversed 4 months later. Both surgeries left him with a lot of scar tissue, a malformed navel and a great deal of herniation. Has anyone had the lap band with these issues. Was it done laparoscopically ?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Whilst we are all trying to include exercise in our weight loss journeys. There is plenty of incidental exercise ideas that we can and should add to our daily routine. One of my girlfriends and I have today come up with the idea that every bathroom visit, be accompanied by 10 squats and we will increase that number soon. We are keeping track of them and texting each other the number of 'toilet squats' we do every day. With all of the Water that I drink, I'll hopefully have an amazing backside in no time. Apart from the obvious house cleaning, can anyone offer a suggestion of something that we can all add in to our daily lives without even really thinking about it??
