Hi! I had all liquid taken out of my band last year but I am still very uncomfortable/restricted sometimes. It seems to come and go and I can't figure out the reason. I eat slow and I eat healthy, no processed foods most of the time. I am so frustrated. Is anyone else having this issue?

I haven't had a fill since December of 2014 and now I am getting lots and lots of flem and throwing up. I am even throwing up in my sleep. Getting worried here. Not to long after I eat I have to go running to the bathroom. Mostly its just flem that comes up but lots of times I am throwing up food too. I am belching alot too. I don't eat that much, I keep it to small meals, my saucer is my dinner plate. I try to eat good and healthy but not always. I go back to the Dr on the 6th of July and am thinking of asking him to take some liquid out of the band to see if this helps. This even happens drinking Water or tea.

Not sure the best place to place this. I was banded in September of 2009. When I was banded I was around 270 pounds. At my first visit I was 308. due to the lengthy approval process I lost a good bit before. I got down to 215 after surgery and creeped back up over the years to 247. I have been between 245 and 247 since 2010.I know my band works I have just not been working it. Plenty of restriction I just don't seem to lose. I really think I can pinpoint it to Exercise. As i get older my metabolism slowed. I also disconnected from this board and when you do that really take your mind off it. My insurance no longer covers Lap Band and When I called to get an appointment ju…

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing great. I was banded in October 2014, with my pre-op diet and first two months post-op I was able to lose a bit over 30lbs. That's where the number is since December 2014, I have not lost any weight since. My band adjustments have been very small 0.3-0.4cc each time so I'm still not in a green zone as the Dr.s here in Canada do not give big fills. I have 7cc in my 10cc band and I'm hungry all the time, I can pretty much eat anything and everything if I want to. My coworker that had the band at the same time she has been tight from the day one and lost 70lbs so far but I know everyone is different so I'm just hoping to get in to green zo…

I was recently looking for motivation on our site and came across this video that the lovely Bandista posted. It really is a must watch. It is explained so clearly with the information broken down into the basics for us to follow. I feel everyone should watch it and post it also. I just wished I had seen this sooner! Since watching this I have stopped eating Breakfast and just have coffee simply because I'm not hungry, I always had the mentality that breakfast is the most important part of the day and even though we are eating so less we should still have our 3 meals. I also cut down my portion sizes and drink Water when I get the head hunger and since watching this vide…

Ok, we've all been there...You go and get a fill and they give you all of these specific instructions on what to eat and what not to eat. They make you drink Water before you leave to make sure you're not completely shut off, etc etc.. But what about if you get it loosened? They don't tell you what THAT'S gonna be like!! So here's a list of the potential side effects for having an UN-fill (I wish I would've known before I had my band loosened): - Gas - Bloating, water retention - Diarrhea or constipation.. or diarrhea followed by constipation followed by diarrhea - More gas and bloating - Hunger - RAPID WEIGHT GAIN!!!!! And I mean RAPID, even if you're watching w…

My band just had her three year birthday. I had her fixed for the second time in Oct. 2014. She is restricted, but man my willpower sux. I hit that three mark, stepped on the scale 10 pounds less than the birth of my band. Up until the the secound corrective surgery I had done great with my diet. I never drank pop, I limited myself to the amount of sugar I had daily. Then suddenly I felt like a failure at this. I still fill like a failure. To the point that now I am being the failure. The band is finally working correctly and I have given up after three years of trying hard to loose it with NO progress (keep in mind during the three years I have had a total of four months…

So I have 5ml in a 10ml lapband (ml's are the same as cc's). I really thought that when I had my last fill 2 weeks ago that this would see me perfectly to the green zone... For the first 2 weeks I've eaten a lot less but here we are 2 weeks down the track and I can still eat way more than I would like to. Don't get me wrong, I do make every effort to lessen the amount of food that I eat, but when I am feeling hungry, I fit in way more than I wish I could. I always stop when I feel my soft stop signals (runny nose or a burp) and I know I'll get there. I have another appointment scheduled for 3 weeks time and hopefully I'll get there soon. At what level did you find y…

Anyone else having surgery coming up? How have you been feeling about it. I have been plagued with anxiety about the surgery, how I will cope afterward without food for comfort, and worried this anxiety will never leave! I know it's the right decision for me, but it's hard to be logical with yourself when your emotions are spiraling.

Hi everyone, today marks 31 weeks since my lapband surgery and I have lost a total of 25.7kg in that time. It's taken me a while to feel any real restriction, although I have had my moments of stuck episodes here and there. This morning however, I decided that my usual Cereal and fruit, or yoghurt or a shake were not going to cut it for my Breakfast, so I decided to purchase myself a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, something I have not gone near in a very very long time... Well.... Said ham and cheese sandwich was not going to go anywhere - not at all!!! The way I eat has changed and will continue to change and I need to remember that with every single mouthful. I…

After getting lap and and being cleared to exercise, I started exercising faithfully. After about 8 months, my knees started hurting. I thought it was just normal pain from finally exercising so much. Turns out it's osteoarthritis. My doctor told me I can not exercise any longer. He told me I now have to strictly use diet to lose weight. He said I will need knee replacements but not until I'm in my 50s. I'm 32 I sank into a depression the past few weeks. He told me I shouldn't be doing anything other than resting my knee and taking it easy. This is so depressing to me, as I have 3 kids under 12. Took them to the waterpark the other day, and I paid for it greatly the next…

Been having problems will give some backgrounds, I do have an appointment scheduled with my doctor in 2 weeks, with work and having to travel 4 hours one way this is the soonest that would work for me, but just wondering if anyone has experienced these same symptons. I have had my lapband for about 8 years, started out at 260 currently at 192 this is the lowest my weight has been for a long time, reason it is not lower is all my fault. About 1 year ago I started experiancing extreme heart burn and went in and had an UGI, all was good with the band, had all the Fluid out of my band at that time. Now within the last 2 months or so I have been experiancing pressure when …

Hello Bariatric Family! I had my 2nd fill last Wednesday 17th June and I was given 2cc's. I now have 6cc's in a 10cc band. I have been given my fills a little faster than normal but that is because I live in the UK and had my surgery here but I work in the US. I took 3 months off work for my surgery, recovery and to get used to the eating habits of the band but I have to go back to work soon, then I will not be back to the UK till December. I was a bit disappointed when I went for my fill as since my first fill 3 weeks earlier I had only lost 3lbs and when getting weighed in the morning before my fill I had gained a 1lb I had been following my eating plan and exercis…

This is one of the best articles I've seen on serious research into the link between microbial presence and human mood and behavior. Not too long and not too abstruse, it discusses a lot of recent discoveries, which of course leads to further inquiries. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/28/magazine/can-the-bacteria-in-your-gut-explain-your-mood.html?smprod=nytcore-iphone&smid=nytcore-iphone-share&_r=0

The area where my port is hurts on the inside. Also, is the hard part we can feel supposed to be about 2 inches? I was imagining the port being about the size of a dime. But the hard area seems bigger. I'm scared my port detached or flipped? My doc can't see me u til july 2 and it feels like I pulled a muscle inside? Maybe I did? I also feel a bit bloated. Unsure if it's related? Would my insides hurt if I got stuck? it seems like my band tightened up a tad. I'm ending my menstrual cycle, pretty much done, so I don't know. I'm concerned this pain...it's not horrible, but al last feels like when I used to run like crazy as a kid and ,y stomach would hurt? Please help!

Hey all. This post is being made made me in the search for information by my boyfriend and myself. I'm just the more tech savvy of us, haha He has had his band for about five years now and since we have been back together the last two, he seems to be exhibiting all of the symptoms of having his band too tight. He wants to get the band removed, but he's still paying it off. So he says money is too huge of a factor there. I have asked him about getting an unfill and he says that costs money he doesn't have right now either. However, he says he HAS tried calling his surgeon's office to talk to them and they seem to constantly give him the run-around (i.e. calling with …

Hi all. I was banded 1/30/15 and so far have lost 20 lbs. I have 55 pounds to go. I received a lot of judgement from friends about getting the band since my BMI was 39 and I wasn't 300 lbs so I am really looking to find some friends on here for support and encouragement. I'm in dallas and would love to meet new people with the band that need support as well.

I had a band in December 2014. I am eating so much less than pre-op, choosing healthier options have had 4 fills, the band is half full, I'm much more active and have been trying so hard but have hardly lost any weight. Only 1.5 stone in 6 months. I wonder if any one can give me some advice.

Hi everyone. I've been a member since 2011. I had originally wanted lap band but my surgeon switched me to gastric bypass BUT 3 days before surgery I canceled my surgery. I then lost my grandma then 3 months to the day of her passing I found out I was pregnant with my son. I ballooned back up to 330 lbs. I'm currently 290lbs and I've been stuck at this weight for 5 months. No matter what I do doesn't work SO I'm switching to a different hospital that does lap band. I'm scared because I've seen a lot of horror stories about young mothers dying from it. Please ease my mind. I NEED to do this!!! I need to be around for my children. This is my family.

I was banded in May 2006 (I think. lol). I kept 75 of the 100lbs I had lost off for 7 years. My band was pretty empty/loose pre pregnancy & I was doing okay maintaining, I was satisfied. I gained entirely too much while pregnant with my first & now I am so far off track I don't even know where to begin with portion control. It's so different now that I have a husband to cook for & he is a big water but not over weight @ all so naturally I want to eat what/when he does. I'm so nervous that I can't do it & I'm too far backwards to even try.

Ok... so... I have looked everywhere I possibly can the past month for a reason this happens to me and I've had NO luck! Hopefully I'm not the only nutty one out there that this happens to. When I eat my first meal of the day (doesn't matter what it is), more times than not, the roof of my mouth swells and becomes very painful. It feels like small bumps on either side of that little line down the middle, and sometimes in the middle at the end of the line. It lasts from 2-5 minutes then it goes away and doesn't happen again for the rest of the day. I'm assuming they are lymph nodes but have no clue at all why they swell. I suppose I need to go in and ask the doc but…

I was challenged by my surgeon to go 1 month finding secret calories in my diet. I am revising from lap band, ( sorry to see it go) to gastric bypass or sleeve. He said that ppl that revise sometimes don't have success especially after having a lapband. so I am on the hunt. This will help those that have been having trouble with their wt. loss as well. I got out the measuring spoons and my scale. I have been finding secret calories hidden in most of what I eat. I eat healthy and prepare most of my food but weighing and measuring has kept me honest. I have been surprise about tomatoes being 50 calories, I won't go into avocados, perfectly healthy but between whole …

I'm going on vacation next week, it will be 9 weeks post LB, 1.5 weeks post gall bladder removal. I went to Marshalls to look for a dress or two....usually I haven't found much there, not a huge fan of their "plus size" items. But I tried on a bunch of dresses size 14 and 16, not women's but a regular 14 & 16....every item fit, I didn't like the look of all of them but they all fit!! I walked away with 3 beautiful dresses!! I'm so excited! The styles of them will also be flattering as I continue to loose FYI at 8 weeks I'm down 20 lbs!

Background: I'm 31, 5'2" and 223 lbs in my birthday suit. Seriously considering getting banded. I'm constantly hot and sweaty, uncomfortable in my skin, easily out of breath, tired, don't enjoy being intimate, pretty much always feel hungry, have a hard time sleeping. Just had a physical and everything is generally ok, no thyroid issues. Being treated for high BP, anxiety/depression, PCOS, and Acid Reflux. Now for the q's. How long did it take you to lose weight? If you had hot flashes before, did they stop? Do you have more energy? Do you sleep better? What does your skin look/feel like on various parts of your body? Is there a lot of sagginess? I have had my lap band for about 5 years - I just got a fill that I was hoping to be my final fill...but I don't know if it's right. I got it yesterday at 2pm and I was able to drink liquids, but every drink I take I "silent belch" and have overproductive saliva (kind of like when you pb, but NOT that bad)...and with that, excessive swallowing. I have read that sometimes this is because the stomach is swollen and that it will calm down after a bit. My question is...I leave to go out of town Friday and will be gone for a week. I was able to get a protien drink down today, so I'm not going to starve....but in your opinion, is this something one of you have waited out bef…

Hi, my name is Becky. This is my 1st message on a forum ever. I am stressed out and need some guidance. Here is my story.. I am 29 years old. Was banded 3 year ago very successfully (lost almost 100lbs and was running and everything). The top priority for the banding was because I wanted to get pregnant and couldn't due to my polycystic ovary syndrome. So 1 year after banding and 98lbs down, I was expecting my baby girl. Thats when things turned. They emptied my band and I gained back 40 lbs during that 9 months. In the mean time, I was in nursing school. Stress out the wazoo. (I just graduated in May with my RN). Because of school, raising my family and working full tim…

I live in Los Angeles county and I've had my band since 2008; had my surgery in Mexico. Since then I'd go back n forth to get fills. I've had pregnancies in between; I gave birth in December and I'm in need of a fill...BAD!!. It's almost impossible for me to go back to Mexico for fills now. My latest attempt just right now, I had an appointment, left with plenty of time, but just my luck, WAY TOO MUCH traffic, and I couldn't make my appointment. My question to the southern cal banders: WHERE CAN I GET A FILL FROM A LOCAL DOC THAT WILL SEE ANOTHER DR'S PATIENTS? Please help.....!

My story is a long one, but if you want to read it on my blog liquid put into my band as of late. My doctor is super booked and its seems I can never get in and I am working constantly (paralegal). So without hardly any restriction, I packed on 25lbs. Now, through vigorous exercise and extreme dieting (minimal calories, veggies, chicken, eggs, repeat) I have lost 10 lbs of that. I have not been feeling myself lately. I hate the way I look and am terrified of gaining weight back. I seem to have gained it all right in my abdominal region, which makes it so many things do not fit correctly at all. My confidence is low, and I am so sick of dieting I could harpoon some…

I was talking to a colleague who is naturally thin and she had commented that she noticed I was losing weight which of course I downplayed and thanked her. Today she said she was walking with another female colleague yesterday and saw me on the street walking to the subway and that the other woman who I barely knew commented that she noticed I lost weight. All of this was very nice and positive but I find it uncomfortable that people would be talking about me. I spent so much of my life just trying to blend in and not be noticed. This all is positive and I'm in no way offended. Of course someone would notice a loss of 70lbs. But I am surprised and my reaction and …

Hi All, This is my second posting and I am scheduled for surgery on June 24th (this coming Wednesday!). I received a call from m y surgeons office this morning that "my pre-op testing EKG showed some discrepancies" and my doctor wants me to see a cardiologist for clearance. I see the cardiologist on Monday at 3:00. I am not officially freakin. I can't imagine what could be wrong and I am anxious that I won't receive the clearance. I am 34 years old and in general good health. I do have some co-morbitites but they are medically managed. Did anyone else encounter this? Heart disease runs in my family but no one my age has ever exhibited symptoms so young. Matt

Sorry for the language but my biggest fear has become a reality. I have battled an underactive thyroid for the past 15 yrs. I had radiation done on a goiter and now I think that has ruined my metabolism. I am a year and a half out from my lap band surgery. I have only lost 61 pounds. My band dr. Is frustrated as well. I have done everything right. I really don't eat more than 1100 calories a day. I have been walking like crazy. And in two months I have lost 1 pound. I am so discouraged. I feel like a huge failure. I know people look at me and think...man she should be skinnier. THYROID DISEASE SUCKS. Unless you have battled it you can't understand. Please tell me someone …

Surgery was March 9, 2015. No weight lost. Nothing. Zero. Got my third fill 2 weeks ago and now have to be careful to chew and take small bites or I'll feel stuck, slime, etc. No change in appetite at all though. Still could eat and eat. Does this mean I am getting close to the green zone?? I can't wait to not be thinking about food all the time!

Was banded in October, I have a 14 cc lapband. I'm on vacation in Vegas, and for the last two days, all I can do is sip water, I did call my doctors office yesterday, and they said to stay on clear fluids, and when I get home on Friday, to go in and have fluid removed if I was still having a problem. They also said if I got worse, I could go to an er and have fluids put in. My nose is super stuffy, not sure if I'm getting sick or the smoke from casinos. My last fill was almost 4 weeks ago, and I have had no problems till now, does anyone know a doctor here in Vegas that could possibly remove some fluid???? I'm miserable, I can't eat, can't drink, and even water hurts to g…

Hi Folks, My name is Jay and I was banded November 18th 2011 by Dr. Steven Miller in Montreal. One of the things I feel is lacking in Montreal is a support group for fellow bandsters. I would like to start one. My thoughts are we could start with a monthly group and if it is successful move to bi-weekly. If you are interested please email me at jayrobertson76@hotmail.com or reply to this post with your cotact email I would be happy to host the first support meeting in my home and will reach out to see if I can get a guest speaker(ie. nutritionist, successful bandster etc..) Thanks for reading Jay

Ok so before I got banded I loved getting Chinese food (deep fried shrimps mmmm), pizza, burgers or something like that on Friday evenings. But today that is not allowed and I'm ok with that, but I still want something really good for friday evenings. But something that does not include Pasta, bread or deep fried food. What do you guys do if you want to treat yourself with food? Just something that makes your mouth Water and you can't wait to eat. . I am 18 weeks post-op and 100g away from obtaining my first real weight loss numbers goal - the elusive 20kg!!!!!! (44lb) I've been reflecting on my life pre-surgery and what things I have noticed that have changed - the things that I didn't realise were hard to do, until they weren't so hard anymore... Getting in and out of the car is probably the biggest one, getting up off the ground, getting out of bed, the airplane seat belt!!!!! All of those things have become so much easier to do... What have you noticed??

I was banded in Aug 2013 had a rough time. However, it's been fairly comfortable losing slowly. I finally got down to a good weight. I am into size 8 slacks. I gave away everything too big. That felt good. My problem is: I am now very complacent....haven't been getting enough Protein in, not enough Water and beginning to eat sweets, which was always my downfall. I been going up and down with 5lbs over the last 2 months. I need to stop!!!!!! I need some ideas on how to get back in control and to remind myself how I got to where I am and how easy it would be to be back to where I was. Thanks Donna
