July 1st is the day!
My surgery is July 1st and I am 4 days into the pre-op diet. It is not as bad as I thought (although I would have to talk myself out of stabbing a birtch for a tater tot). The worst part is the no caffeine, I am a plain iced tea girl. I am so lethargic. Any ideas what I can do or do I just power through?

Review for Dr. J. DeBarros, Weight Loss Institute of AZ
I am new to this and have made it through my 6 months, had my EGD and am set for July 1st. Normally when I would go to a doctors office I would feel uncomfortable and like I was being judged. This is the second time in my entire life I felt like a person who was respected and not just a number. I am excited for this life change and all the good as well as the work that will come with it. Dr. D is amazing makes me feel safe and sure of my decision.

Worried about excess skin!
I have a family member who had gastric bypass and she had a ton of excess skin on her arms, belly and legs. She had tummy tuck but not her arms or legs done. Insurance would not pay for it and this was some 15 years ago. I know I will lose slower however, I am very big and been so my entire life. Can any of you tell me if my skin, I know there Will be some; will be as bad as hers? Also is there any thing I can do to try and help it firm up as I lose the weight? Thanks:wink2:

Mine is frightened I may get too skinny. He likes chubby girls. I know he will love me no matter but it is a bit disturbing for me. He however will be good support because he wants me healthy. Good luck honey!

Wow...is this ever happening fast!
Wow, you are so lucky! I have been hoop jumping for the past 9 months. Good luck and I hope your journey is a smooth one.

wheels in motion!
Got the ball rolling. I had my surgical consult. Finished the 6 month diet and have pre-approval. Now just need official approval and to see dietitian, then we will set a date. I am excited and freaked out at the same time. I know the pre-op diet will suck, but wow for the ability to get healthy I says bring it on! Lol I am a little impatient but I figure I have been fat for 36 years I can wait a few more months.

Whew I am excited and freaked out, I know there will be more hoops and I figure I have been fat this long I guess I can wait a bit longer! lol Holly

On my way!
I am soooo excited and freaked out all at the same time. I have been looking into lap-band®® for about 5 years and things have finally come together for me to start the process. With all my health issues I hope to not have trouble with insurance. My consult is Friday morning! Thanks to all of you for sharing it has been a great learning tool and comfort for me to know I am not alone in this journey!

Baby envy, however things are looking up.
Thanks for all the responses. I know that things come in stages and am more than willing to wait (a little while (-; ) to be healthy . Sassy you said what I needed to hear thank you so much, I feel so much more hopeful now. Holly

Referred to a surgeon
I would love to hear how it goes for you. I am in the same spot with insurance and hoping for them to give it a "go". I have been researching lap-band® for years and just now have coverage of any type. If I am turned down then I guess I will go back on the to-yo train. I want to be healthy and comfortable in my own body, but I also want to be a Momma, my clock is ticking super loud. I am 36 will be 37 end of May. Well anyways its nice to know I'm not alone. Good luck I will send out good mojo for you. Holly

Dr. Terry Simpson - Banded by Dr. Simpson
Hello, I have been reading all the great things you have written and I feel a bit less nervous. Do you have any advice as far as what I could do to get the process in higher gear. Also, what can I expect on Friday. I am Holly a 36 (soon to be 37) year old female. I weighed 315 at my highest. Right now I am down to 273 thanks to phentermine. I can not live on it tho and have hit a stopping point in losing weight. I have PCOS and hope to regulate my ovulation and be a Healthy Momma some time in the next couple years. I have an incredible, loving and supportive partner who will be with me through the entire process. Till I am old and grey even. Thanks for the help, you gave with your posts. Holly
