Hey everyone! I just received my approval from insurance, now waiting to be scheduled for surgery... The surgeons office is looking at exactly 2 weeks from tomorrow (which is my birthday). I'm super nervous!! In going through a nasty 4 year break up and feel so alone Eve though my family is being very supportive... I need to kick start the pre-op diet... Any suggestions or recommendations on better tasting protein powders??

OK I have a TON of Choc Premier Protein stockpiled. Used Insure Nutrition and it keeps coming and I don't like it and use another brand. I got behind and have had trouble stopping the deliveries. I live on the Central Coast of CA and drive to the LA area several times a week. If you love anywhere in those areas or in between and can meet me I have cases to give you! Let me know!

I am a few days shy of of 13 months post-op. Now I'm addicted to exercise vs. eating. I do cardio 5 days out of the week and lift weights 4 days out of the week. I've dropped 100 pounds from pre-op to now. I have been at a stall for about 2 months now, but I've also packed on a lot of lean muscle. My cloths are looser, even though I weigh the same. I'm 5'6" and weigh anywhere from 152 to 156. I'd like to get down to 145/140, but I need to tighten up on my diet. With summers off and the kids and I always going out and about, I've been snacking on foods that are not the best; however, I do eat clean for my main meals. As far as eating, I can eat anything. I keep sugary f…

This is my first vacation since my VSG, and I'm just surprised at how comfortable I feel- comfortable walking around (my feet don't hurt, I can keep up without getting out of breath), I feel comfortable in a swimsuit (really, I walked around all day in my bathing suit without feeling the least bit self-conscious), and best of all I feel comfortable being in photos --- I feel like a normal person! LOL Here's one from Vero Beach,FL.. And heading to Disney in a few days!!! AND I WILL BE ABLE TO FIT IN ALL THE RIDES!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello All, I am 43 days Post-Op and so far I have lost a total of 73 pounds. I am so happy that I made this choice to take back my life. My weight loss has slowed, but fortunately it has not stopped nor stalled yet. At first I was losing around a pound a day, then 1 pound every two days. Now I am losing about 1-2 pounds every 5 days or so. I am completely ok with this and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue at this rate. I am however mentally prepared and emotionally ready for when the dreaded stalls come a knocking. I have had such positive results from the weight loss to date that I cannot express my gratitude that this option was available to m…

I am ten days away from being 9 months out from surgery. My surgery was October 30, 2013. I have lost well over a hundred pounds since the start of the journey. At my highest weight I was 309 pounds. This was the best thing that I have ever done for myself and my family. My health has improved so much. Blood pressure and A1C are back to normal. I have so much more energy than I have had any many years. I am at my lowest weight in more than 20 years. I feel so blessed to have this chance to change things for myself and family. Here are a few pictures of me during this journey. First picture May 2012, Second picture March 2014, and third picture July 16, 2014

First picture was me at my highest weight last summer of 315 pounds. Second is me two weeks before surgery at 288 pounds. Last is me today at 184!! Best decision of my life. I'm starting to look like a normal person!! The pants are size 16 which I bought two weeks ago and suddenly they're just falling off me so I had to hold them up in the back. (Ignore the messy livingroom...my son had a sleepover).

I refused to accept defeat. I refused to be negative. I kept saying...it will happen. And it DID!!! I'm officially in one-derland! Let me tell you...I've started seeing this great guy. He knows about my surgery. I told him because I didn't want to feel awkward when we went out to eat. He's losing weight, too. He's supportive. It's sweet. I've been enjoying my life while waiting for those three little pounds to decide to fall off my body. Now, I get my new tattoo. So, t…

  18. It's been a year . What an amazing life changing year. Last year at this time I was a nervous wreck of getting banded almost having an anxiety attack in the waiting room before surgery but wouldn't let it show. So sacred of what life would be with this band how would I feel how would I eat how would I live. I thought for sure the band would he like a flashing neon light and everyone would laugh and scoff that I had it done. I kept it a secret and still do. At first it was because I was ashamed I needed surgical Intervention to do what seemed like an easy task just stop eating. Now I keep it a secret because it's my most treasured precious love. I had a scare of a band malfunction two months ago, I was not loosing weight and eating a lot (more than 1/2 of a cup is a lot for me), after I was checked with a fluoroscopy, doctor gave me a fill and I've been loosing, I even went on vacation and I still manage to loose. I was getting stuck a lot but I saw the video 8 rules for the lap band and. I learn how to eat then someone else suggested an application to control how fast you eat and I been using it. I love my band and I love this forums even if I don't post as often as before. I am so happy !

Well, I'm about a week and a half away from my one year surgery anniversary. My starting weight was 387 pounds. When I got on the scales this morning for my weekly weigh in an whala the scale told me that I weighed 196 pounds. That's 200 pounds in about one year. I am so stoked. I went for years being obese, adding more and more co morbidities, adding more drugs, for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiomyopathy, kidney disease and not to mention chronic back pain and COPD. Now with one year in my sights, literally all of these problems are either gone or remission. I am so thankful for my surgical team, my wife and children and the support of my co w…

I read a post from my phone that inspired me to write this... but I can't find the post so I am starting a new thread! So many share incredible transformation stories - and that post mentioned people who pose in bikinis (raising hand here) to show off this transformation. We all Celebrate and say "wow" and all that great stuff.... but how does it make people feel who have more "average" results, not quite getting to goal, maybe not doing plastics etc so they don't feel as "wowed" by their transformations. I want to say something about this. i reviewed some progress photos and looked long and hard at the ones where I weighed about 190... I started at over 300# so it …

  30. Hello Everybody, I am hoping to find some answers. I live about 40 minutes north of Boston in Southern New Hampshire. Their are a few really great medical schools and teaching hospitals in the area. I am 11 months post-op and am starting to plan on having a lower body lift (or TT ), neck lift, breast lift and possibly augmentation. within the next year. Does anyone know if the medical schools offer plastics at a discounted rate? I know that Tufts Dental School offers a sliding fee scale. I have no idea who to call and ask. Leaving the US is not an option for me, so I am trying to find a less expensive option without compromising quality. Any suggestions? He…

  34. I wanted the sleeve...True Results said: you'll do fine with the band, it will be slower but you'll get to your target within 24 months. I wasn't happy with that number, but I accepted it because the band was the least invasive, reversible and if it didn't work I could always do a sleeve revision. I'm so happy to say, the band worked in half the time I was told, it wasn't nearly has difficult as I thought and I've had NO complications even after battling a stomach virus that caused me to VIOLENTLY VOMIT from below the band at least 8 times before I was able to get treatment. Say what you want about the band, this thing is amazing!

So yesterday, my family and I went to beach. I put on my swimsuit then a nice sundress cover up. I had no intentions of taking the dress off. However, when I put my swim suit on I glanced in the mirror and thought I saw a reflection that just didn't seem to be me. She was attractive, young, and vibrant. That was an image that I had not seen for a while staring back at me. Fast forward to the beach. We were taking pictures of the kids as they enjoyed their afternoon. Something came over me. I took off my sundress, jumped up and asked my friend to take a picture of me. I was so nervous as to what I was going to see. You see, often times when I look in the mirror and see on…

  44. So from the beginning of this path towards and following VSG, one of things on my list that made me make the decision to invest in WLS was when I travelled by air that the meal tray no longer lay flat because my belly would get in the way. Travel is a big part of my job, so this was a constant embarassment for me. There is nothing more embarassing than a flight attendant handing you a meal to a tray that won't lay flat, and at first they just think it isn't fully deployed, then they realize oh no, the tray is stuck on her and the look on their face changes. Total humiliation, right? Not to mention always having to ask for an extension for the seat belt, but at least the …

Ok, I was a bit of a stinker, messing with a couple people this week . Early in the week I ran into a client in the post office. He is kind of creepy, always smells of liquor (even at work) and one of those guys you can never get away from once he starts talking. When he saw me, he said "wow, you look so different, what have you done?" I explained I just got a hair cut. (Which I did). My mom was coming for a visit and she hates my long scraggly hair so I got it cut short just for her. He kept going back to the "you look so different" and I kept going on about how much I like my haircut, until I could finally drag myself out to my truck. (with him following me all the…

I considered the safety concerns and the issues with aftercare for a procedure down out of the country. The biggest issue for me was the flight from Richmond to San Diego. I had never flown and swore I would never be on a plane. I was so excited about having this done I was able to put my fears aside and ordered my tickets. It was done, no going back. Non-refundable plane tickets and deposit to hospital paid. I was all in. I talked to the coordinator, Irene, several times and could not have been more comfortable wit…

I'm not getting to either state for a while so I went into the jeans store by my apartment where they actually have salespeople who can suggest sizes and styles for you. The girl was probably 22, thin as a rail and likely no help to me at all but she was the only one there and I told her I needed jeans that fit better and I showed her how they were sagging everywhere. First thing she did was tell me I should try a size 8. OMG....a size in the single digits? No...not me. Well...sure enough, they fit no problem. Then she s…
