  1. Started by amazon,

My son (28 y/o) is in the Air Force. He was deployed on the day of my surgery (missed talking to him before getting on the plane ). He's stationed in OK, and the last time he saw me was the end of June, at his wedding. (I think I was around 210 lbs) We may have Skyped since then, can't recall, but not since surgery. He does text a lot! Late yesterday afternoon I was closing down some app's on my iPad...noticed Skype was running and saw that he was on line. So I rang him up to say hi. His first words were - "holy crap!". He was shocked (in a good way) by my face and neck. Really...he kept saying "I can see the tendons in your neck!", and "I keep thinking it's …

I am seriously loving the freedom that this surgery has given to me. I was a big food addict prior to having the gastric sleeve. Like, to the point if I told myself I couldn't have what I wanted to eat, I would actually get mad at myself for telling myself no and then eat the food anyway. How crazy is that? I loved Pasta, Desserts, pastries and cheesy, starchy casseroles and well, anything "comfort" food I was there. It was beyond me how anyone could say they were hungry and then just grab a banana or an apple to eat instead of a sandwich and chips, or Cookies for that matter. Fruit and veggies by themselves? How boring! The old me that thought this way is now …

Sleeved dec 2012. Lost 100 pounds. Highest 298 current 207. Ultimate goal is 160. Size 24/26 to a 14/12, 2XL to a M. I recently had a steroid epidural injection that caused me to gain weight. I need to get back to basics. Other than cutting calories to 800-1000 what advice do you have? What helps you get over the stalls? What foods...calorie number... Exercise? I need a good jump start again. I tried to find lil divas boot camp thread, but had no luck. Anyone have that? Thanks for your encouragement in advance!

  10. Today marks my one-year bandiversary! I am constantly amazed at the differences in my life that have happened over the past year. It's been a ride full of excitement, anxiety, self-discovery, and improved health. When I weighed in for my surgery, I was 354lbs. I was scared to death. I asked my sister-friend to take me home more than once. I questioned what I was doing right up until I fell asleep in the OR. I woke up totally satisfied with my choice. I haven't looked back with regret a single time (Yes, I questioned my sanity a few times in those early days, but no regrets.) One year ago, I was on blood pressure meds, high doses of arthritis meds for my feet a…

I was told yesterday that I now look like a prepubescent boy....no butt, no boobs, no hips. Not to mention I had an endometrial ablation years ago, so no period. Any suggestions on how to complete the transformation? I'm thinking I need to start farting more, learn how to play video games, and go ahead and wear all those jeans that are too big without a belt to keep them up. Geez, talk about lifestyle changes!

So two weeks ago was my Doctor's oldest son's 18th birthday and we went out for pizza and chocolate cake with ice cream. Yep, ate em all! So last night we went out for Thai for his other son's 16th birthday. I didn't order a thing...just got a small plate and nibbled from everyone else's orders.... Green beans, chicken dumplings, shrimp wontons, duck curry, and spicy tofu. And a 1/2 glass of wine. And besides the usual chocolate cake and ice cream for desert, someone ordered fried banana cheesecake. Yum to all...bad doctor

  15. I DID IT!!! I went for my one year post op check up and the surgeon's office is pleased and so am I at the weight I am at and I will now start maintaining my current weight. Yay for me! I am so ready to continue this journey and plan on nothing or any one stopping me from doing it even my bariatric hypoglycemia. Bariatric hypoglycemia only happens in 2% of the people that have surgery. I found that out yesterday from the surgeon's office. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL Thank you all if you happened to have read this.

Hello fellow banders. As most of you know I reached my goal in July 2013 and surpassed it by December. I actually went down to 140 lbs in the spring and then have been fluctuating between 142-146 ever since. Finally last month I don't know maybe this new job I've started, I noticed my eating habits have changed. I'm not very hungry at all which is a good thing. I have a Protein shake and coffee for Breakfast, and then I don't eat any food until between 12:30 and 2 pm. Yeah, all day no food just about. When I do eat, it's just a little as we are supposed to eat and that's it. I may snack on something in the evening around 6:30 or 7 but I can't eat later than that. My body …

Six weeks from my one one year anniversary, and I am 20 pounds away from my goal. What a difference almost a year has made. I am 105 pounds down since the surgery, and I have never felt better. I still catch sight of myself in a mirror and wonder who that person is. I have sagging skin, but it doesn't bother me. I play on getting a tummy tuck in the near future to get rid of that annoying skin that I will never get rid of with just exercise alone, but I consider that a small price to pay for my weight loss. Shopping for clothes has become a joy. Sales clerks treat you differently... sad, but true. I often will ask for the wrong size, just because I am not used to my ne…

Exactly one year ago today I had my sleeve surgery and it has been a truly wonderful year! In the past I have dieted down to 120 and then ate my way back up to 200 at least 10 times, however I started 2013 weighing 197 and then I found myself at 237 by August. I simply couldn’t control my eating and I had gotten to a point where I wasn’t able to exercise a whole lot because my feet would swell up when I ran and I was a slug in the classes I took at the gym. Worst of all, my siblings had come to visit me in the summer of 2013 and the last time they had seen me I was around 130, so much as they assured me I looked great, I could see that they were shocked at my size. It …

Today is my Four-Year Bandiversary and I'm starting to get a bit emotional as I type this. Wasn't expecting that. Getting the Lap-Band is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Although, I've been at a plateau for most of the time I've had the band, it is starting to come off again. I've lost 11lbs since my last fill in April. Slow, but it's moving in the right direction and that's what counts. And, I only weight about 25lbs more than my big Lab (He's a big, old boy, who I've been feeding healthier food this Summer, in an effort for him to lose weight, but I don't think it's working much). I'm 31lbs from my official goal, but as I've always said, I may decide t…

I am so discouraged. Surgery date 5-22. Started at 282 and currently at 214.2. Yes I know in down 67.8 and don't get me wrong I am ecstatic about it... but I appear to have just quit losing. I have been battling the same 6 lbs for almost a month now and have only lost 1 lb so far this month. I know stalls are normal but this feels different. I'm down, then up, then down, then up 2 or more days in a row. I'm eating good, active. I have 35 or so pounds to go... Please don't tell me this is it for me...

I went to the hospital this morning to have a stress test. I need a colonoscopy and my doctor wanted something checked out regarding my ECG. I've been through hell and back in terms of my health so I'm not going to worry about anything unless or until I have to. But the visit was chock full of NSVs from the gown being too big on me (rather than my having to hold it closed, or even wear two of them, back to front and front to back) to the nurse being blown away when she saw my pre band photo once she pulled up my electronic records to fitting into the echo machine. One time I had to have a special part put into the MRI machine so my huge trunk-like leg would fit into …

  25. I'm starting to get scared about my surgery on Tuesday Aug 19th! I'm starting to wonder if I should go through with it or not. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just try to lose weight again on my own. I was at my surgery refresher consultation today and the nurse said that if I ever eat more than a half cup of food that I'll stretch my sleeve. Even at the year post surgery mark! I thought about the holidays and if we served a traditional thanksgiving dinner then a half cup wouldn't even 1 bite of each dish. I actually scooped my lean cuisine meal into a half cup measuring cup tonight and it wasn't even half of a lean cuisine! My question to all of you who have been success…

10 months ago I started going to a pain management doctor for back pain because of my weight. After 3 heart attacks, chronic pain and diabetes I needed to do something or I was just going to end up having another heart attack or worse. For obvious reasons I didn't want that lol. My PMD told me to go check about the lap band doctor in the same building. I did. I checked to see if my insurance covered it and they did and met with the Nutritionist. I weighed 345 that day. She put me on a diet and I think I lost about 20lbs in the 4 months I had to see her before my insurance would let me get it done. I lost about 10 on the liquid diet before surgery. Went into op at 315'ish.…

Guess who's a tiny lady? Me. Yup...that word was used to describe me. The pic below is from my mom's birthday dinner and yes..the tiny lady is me. When we were out the day before at the Chinese restaurant, the waiter taking care of our large table was doling out hot and sour Soup and describing us as he was doing it. So he called my mom 'pretty lady' and he called my aunts 'blonde lady' and 'smiling lady'. When he handed me my bowl, he said, 'for the tiny lady'. Yes...I am pretty small these days and loving my life.

Well, I am coming off my summer hiatus and am returning feeling successful after 11months with lap band and plication. My time away this summer has given me time to reflect and revise my plan as to where I want to finally be as far as my WLS journey goes. I just returned from a trip to Hershey Park with my 4 & 7 year old and am measuring my success in all new ways now. This is the first real get away vacation since I had my surgery last September. I went on rides and was much less fearful of the ride restraints not fitting….they ALL did! Today is (hopefully) a banner day. 3.5 months after surgery, I spent the night culling my closet and have three full clothes hampers worth of casual and work clothing to donate to Good Will. Went from 3x and 4x shirts down to XL (so far) and 48/50 pants down to a 42. That, I think, quantifies this as a personal NSV, and makes the whole experience worth it. How did you feel when you got to that point? Wayne

So I am a huge roller coaster fan. The rush is amazing and I've always been able to go on them pre op. I went last month to six flags and it was 5 months post op and the feeling I had in my stomach I will never ever attempt to feel that way again. It was like someone was squeezing my insides and not in the good way. I'm thinking it might be the tension when we drop on the coaster. And being that my stomach is smaller there might be less of it to squeeze. Anyone else having this problem? I go see my doc next week and I'm going to ask him.

I was just given the go ahead to have purees, and I can already feel the restriction, if I get near or just over that 1/4 cup, it starts to hurt a little. But after almost three weeks of liquids, it feels and tastes so good to have real food again, do I still love the flavors of food? I have lost 105 pounds since my surgery date. I have gone from a 44 inch waist to a 36 inch waist and from a 3XL shirt to a L or an XL depending on the brand. I feel wonderful. Running three times a week along with weight training. Another 15-20 pounds to go and I will be set. I wish I had done this years ago.
