I know there's been a zillion threads on this, but what's one more right? I am seeing A LOT of people so hung up on the scale that they're missing the Non Scale Victories (yes that's what NSV means). So, please list your NSVs here! It doesn't matter how big or how small, we want to hear it! Mine are (in no particular order): The ability to sit in any chair I want without worrying if I'll fit or break it The ability to sit in booths at restaurants Flying without needing a seat belt extender No longer wearing plus sized clothes Trying on a size 'large' shirt and finding it's too big- and buying a size 'medium' Walking by mirrors while shopping and thinking …

Ironically, I was in the hospital having a ridiculous neck surgery a week before my WLS anniversary and my two selfies are quite a sight to see! Now it's time to do one NOT in a hospital bed!!!

Almost hard to believe it's been a little more than a year now. 95 lbs gone forever and I'm healthy!! No more HBP, no more diabetes, no more gout, no more chest paint or shortness of breath, no more knee and back pain, my heart rate at rest is now in the 60's (formerly around 100). Most importantly I have the energy to play with my kids!! So happy I got my sleeve!!

I'm a slow BMIer and 63. I've lost 20 lb in a little over 6 weeks! I feel great. My goal is 55 lb.

It has been 4 months to the date since my surgery. While at the gym this morning I weighed myself - 95 lbs. lost since surgery! I feel so much better It would have been really great to hit the 100 lb. mark at 4 months but who's complaining. The support I get from family and friends, and especially here has been awesome. Here's to the next 4 months!!!

I finally hit the 170s. Haven't seen this weight on a scale since high school. Found my high school skirt in a bag in the closet (went to an all girl's Catholic high school) and we wore plaid uniform skirts. This skirt was from freshmen year (1974). OMG............ it fit and it fit loosely!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just so excited each day to have the energy to do stuff....doesn't matter what, I don't have to worry anymore about being too tired to chase my 4 and 5 yr old around anymore...they have to worry about keeping up with me! Best Decision Ever!!! Biggest Awesome moment? Picking something up, a shirt, from a normal store...getting it home and it was BIG!!! normal sizes are too big for me! I don't have to shop in mens anymore for tshirts to support my favorite football team, I can wear the cutesy womens tops!! I am in heaven!! Crossing my legs, who knew it was so comfortable? The bathroom stalls, I guess they weren't designed small...it was just me filling the who…

My last fill put me in the green. Lost 15lbs in 6 weeks. Go to see the nut & the doc last week they both tell me not to lose anymore weight. I shake my head and nod thinking about those last 5 pounds I really want to lose. So I'm going with that. Took me a year to get to the green. Down 133lbs. Happy and frustrated at the same time. Nut says to up my calories. Is she freakin nuts. Not risking it. Afraid of gaining. So this is a success story, but I'm in a tailspin. Hw 291. Cw 157

It's been an amazing year. I'm in genuine awe over how this process has affected every aspect of my life. The biggest impact is of course that my life expectancy has dramatically improved. My polycistic ovarian syndrome, insulin resistance, and depression were spiraling out of control. I was 25 years old and on a fast track to knee surgeries, diabetes, and other co-morbidities. I honestly don't think I would have made it much past 50. These days I'm active, healthy, confident, and happy. I had my one-year follow-up appointment Monday, and my lab work was all perfect. They don't need to see me for a year, so now every doctor is on an annual basis. That blows my freakin…

As of today, it's been one year since having my life-changing surgery. I went to my surgeons office yesterday and they were elated, as my success equals their success. He asked if I was still logging my food and when I said yes, he mentioned that statistics indicated that 80% of the people achieving high levels of success with the sleeve long-term still log their food and exercise regularly. I'm planning to continue both and hope for long-term success in maintenance.

I will be 6 weeks post op tomorrow. Per my doctors orders I am weighing myself every morning until my next check up on Dec 30. Well today the scale said 274.7 and that is 40.1 lbs lost since 10/21 (surgery was 10/27 only did one week pre op diet)!!! I am just so happy with my progress. My doc told me to be doing two shakes and one small meal a day with no snacking. This is what I have been doing and it has working so well. I have really had no problem doing this, and also getting in all my Water and exercise. My doc has a goal of 260 for me to hit for my Dec 30 appointment and I am so hoping I can make it. I just had to share my excitement and a NSV I had last…

Totally shocked and thrilled. I ordered a pair of size 12 jeans and they arrived this afternoon. I was wearing 14's that I got just a few weeks ago. Figured picking up the next size down (same brand) would be a motivator. I tried them on and they fit!! Guess I'll need to get a 10 to hang on the back of the door, heh. Not dropping a lot of pounds, but my size is shrinking :-) To think I was a size 20 when I started this journey the end of April. THANK YOU MS. SLEEVE!!

Finally, my new passport arrived today.... My old one looked nothing like me today, and I was getting tired of being scrutinized every time I needed to show it. One time, the customs officer called someone else over (supervisor?) for a second look,,,,and more questions. I was told at a support group once, years ago, not to worry. Custom officials have seen everything and are very aware of people loosing over 100lbs. But still....the hard stares, questions. Especially when coming into or from out of another country. Last thing I need is to get pulled aside and stripped searched! So even though I had many years before the current one expired, I filled out the appli…

I had my surgery over two years ago, but have noticed that I'm still wanting to eat something every 2 hours. CRAZY! I'm not hungry. But it feels like this is what I did for a good year following surgery, small frequent feedings. I'm in trouble now because the sizes are getting larger and larger! Ugh, I never used to feel like I needed to eat all the time. Anyone one else battling this?

Hello all, Today marks 5 months post op. Things are going great!. As of today I am at 172lbs. A total of 70lbs lost. My energy is great and am able to keep up with my two Teenagers and my 11 year old. Now that marching band season is over for my two teens I will start going hiking every Saturday. I use to be in a size 24 and now in a size 13/14. I have 52 more lbs to get to my goal weight. I am able to down my Protein in about 30 mins which is great for me. This whole time I was having problems getting my protein in. I am now getting about 60-70 grams a day. I noticed I lose weight faster when i get in in. I am still having texture problems but trying very hard to get …

Hey everyone - still doing well and taking time to reflect each day on the wonderful gift I have been given. My latest musing - I realized the other day that without this surgery I could have never lost weight (and kept it off) on my own prior to this surgery. Now, I am not saying that surgery is ALWAYS the answer and that NO ONE can lose weight without it. I am saying that for me, I know now that there would have been no way I could have been successful, which is why I have been overweight for the majority of my life. But I couldn't SEE that until I got on the other side of the fence, so to speak. I had nothing to compare my experience to because I had been fat fo…

Did the math and I am 5lbs away from being JUST over weight and no longer obese! That's going to be a great day! I finally got out of the 170s that seemed to have taken forever. I only lost .2 lbs the whole month of October. That's was frustrating. Has anyone ever had a month where they lost nothing????

My 6 month surgiversary was on the 3rd but I hit the 100lb mark yesterday from my preop weight. Now, unfortunately the last 8lbs was from some serious dehydration from being sick (not surgery related) and I expect some of it to come back, but I figured I'm sick and miserable so I might as well Celebrate what I can. I'm down from a 24 bottom 3x top to a 14 and L tops. I actually bought my first medium at old navy last night! At this point I have no regrets. This has been the best thing I've ever done for myself.

I live in a 17 story apartment building built in the early 1960's. I can't set the heat myself...no thermostat. So I'm at the mercy of the boiler in the basement. I've been in this apartment for almost ten years and usually have to keep a window partially open in the winter along with sometimes running the ceiling fan because I was plenty warm even in the coldest months. In fact, I've needed my heavy comforter just a handful of times over the years. So last winter, I give in to the cold and pull out the comforter and close the window and chalk it up to 100 lbs. less of me and the polar vortex the weathermen screamed about. Fast forward to this year and the blast o…

I have had the stomach flu with severe diahrea for the past 4 days. The rest of my family had it for only a day. I have been in severe pain and have never had stomach flu like this. I have been drinking Water pretty well, at least 60 ozs a day, but not eating. I worry about electrolytes as I feel so weak and tired and I get dizzy when up and around too long. Has anyone else had the flu and was it worse since your surgery? I had surgery 9/30/14. I have lost 10 pounds in the past 4 days. Any advice on how to get more electrolytes?

I am 3 years post op, lost 160# and maintaining... transformed in looks and other ways too. I had something happen the other night that sort of blew me away. I decided to stop at a upscale "taphouse" to sample a fancy holiday brew. I have gone in there before with my sons, but it was just one of those impulse things. So, i sit at the bar and the place was starting to clear out as the Seahawks game was over. I sat next to what I assumed was a "couple". The bartender started talking to me in a familiar way so I figured he thought i am younger than I am so I mentioned that I had been in a few times with my sons. that shut him down. I use that tack with anyone who…

37 years today I married my husband Roy. He has stood beside me through everything I have experienced in this world. The good days the bad. The good times and not so good times. The heavy times and the thin times. And just when I thought it could not get any worse. He stood beside me through the last 14 years of hell with my mental health as well as my physical health. I want to thank him for the last two years mostly as I have tested his strength and love more then any woman should. But he was there almost every day accept 4 or 5 at my bed side encouraging me to move forward. 5.5 months he came and held my hand, rubbed my feet and combed my hair. He had a regular routi…

I was reviewing some video surveillance footage at work and happened to see myself. Until then, I only knew what I looked like from my mirrors at home. Holy Sh*t! I look so normal, I could have been mistaken for pretty much any other employee. It feels good to NOT be the guy who sticks out at work - for being the fattest guy in the entire office.

What do diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiac hyper tension, and a severe case of denial have in common? Many of you would say something akin to, “early death” or “signs of an inactive life” and you would not be wrong. However, my answer would be “me” - more specifically, the old me. Not too long ago, I was sitting at a dinner with a group of friends when one asked an other, “Are you sure there is no way you can do the Spartan Race with me?” I had heard of a Spartan Race before, so I paid attention to their discussion. While I was not so shyly eavesdropping, two things occurred to me. The first realization was that neither of my friends were inclu…

For the last several months, I have been plateaued big time. Lose 5 pounds and it comes right back. BUT I have an interview on Monday and I am nervous as heck, first interview I have had in over 17 years. So my wife and I went out to find me a new outfit, picked out a dress shirt and slacks and asked my wife to pass judgement. Her opinion? Shirt was too big, I either needed a slim or a smaller shirt. The long and short of it? I ended up with a full inch smaller in the neck and arms and still could have used a slim cut, but couldn't find one. So, the scale has been plateaued, but my body hasn't, it is still changing (Shrinking)

Best decision I ever made 107 pounds and several sizes later I'm officially on maintenance. It wasn't easy and I'm trying to figure out how to maintain. I can honestly say the lifestyle change and the confidence and than realization that I am worth it and deserve it has been the most gratifying outcome of the surgery. I started at 254 on 1/30/14 and I'm at 146 today. The support from my husband, kids, family and friends has been amazing. I chose only to tell close family and friends. This site has been a life saver. I am on it daily although I don't post often. Thank you all for sharing your stories they truly help and continue to help me daily.

Hello everyone! I haven’t been on these forums for a long time, but I wanted to stop in, say hello, and give everyone an update. I’m 9months post op. My surgery was February 24th. So far, I’ve lost 122.5 lbs from my all-time high of 380, and I’m down 108.5 from my surgery date where I was 366. Here’s the breakdown my month: M1 30lbs M2 6.5lbs M3 23.5lbs M4 16.5lbs M5 10.5lbs M6 9lbs M7 0lbs M8 8lbs M9 4.50lbs The weight loss has slowed quite a bit in the past few months as a result of my consuming more carbs… something my nutritionist recommended. Plus, I haven’t always made the best choices, and I’ve been slacking on my exercise. It’s been quite the…

1 Year ago today I had my sleeve surgery. It was the best decision I've ever made for my health--diabetes in remission; no longer have high blood pressure--off all medications and down 119 lbs. I was hoping to hit my goal by today but i've been in a 3 week stall so I'm 3 lbs short of my goal but I'm thrilled with the results. Even if I don't go any lower--I'm happy with my size 12 self. Sorry for no pictures--I'm not very techy (need to work on that). Best of luck on your journey to those just starting out and continued success to the rest of us!! Lisa

During my years struggling to lose weight I have purchased a few "motivation" pieces to try and help me reach my goals. Looking forward to my surgery date (just 6 weeks!), I pulled a couple of those out tonight, this time actually sure that I will be wearing them soon. Anyone here have an awesome story about fitting into something you were saving for when you finally lost the weight? I would love to see pictures!
