I finally bought my first Victoria's Secret bra! I've been trying not to buy much in the way of new clothes, but today I bought a smaller bra, and some smaller pants and blouses for work! I'm down 33.2 lbs so far (I'm 5 weeks post op today) and things were starting to get big enough that they looked funny! I'm so happy with how everything is going!!!!!!! Here's me back in April vs. now.

Today the doctor weighed me and I officially have a normal BMI! Such a huge victory for me! I'm now down a total of 114 pounds!

I'm about to go say goodbye to my little summer vegetable garden. Even though it was small, it represented a huge NSV for me. Normally in the summer I don't get outside except when absolutely necessary. This year, I was outside every day watering, weeding and picking in my garden. I made enough of my awesome pickles to be able to sell enough to pay for the tiller we bought, and I made several pints of great salsa. I discovered that I like baked okra just as much as fried, and I made a variety of flavored kale chips. It's been a great experience, and I can't wait to do it again on an even larger scale next year! Now I have to go out and pull up the remnants of the plants…

I am happy to report that I weigh less than my husband now. Geesh, that really bugged me! I am in the eighties now and that is a tremendous relief. On my way to the seventies next, one mini-goal at a time. Meanwhile, I feel so good in my body. Yesterday I spilled on my top and had to run into a store to buy a shirt. Grabbed a medium and it fit perfectly. Medium! Imagine that -- me? Yippee! I figured while I was at it I'd peruse the clearance section. Came up with a nice pair of summer pants in size ten. Last November I was an 18 (sometimes a 20) so this is tremendous progress. So pleased with how everything is going. It doesn't feel hard. I'm not on a diet.…

Had my three month visit yesterday. I was really trying to hit that 50 pound mark but missed it by 1 pound. Arghh!! The surgeon was very pleased with my progress. He kept asking about complications or how I've felt, like he couldn't believe my answers about feeling like a million bucks! He told me I looked great and when I said "Thanks to you", he said no, that I had done all the hard work and his part was just a small part of it all. Very nice surgeon! I told him I would be his poster child for relative lightweights and he asked me if I would be willing to post before and after pics on his website and Facebook page. I told him sure. Well, when I posted my pics on h…

Hi! I have one more nut visit on Monday and then I am all set for insurance approval. I am now starting to overthink everything and am worried about not getting approved. I have a 56 BMI, diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. So, on paper I am a great candidate. I just keep thinking insurance will find one reason to say no. I have Aetna and have done the 3 month path. I am sure I'm just worrying for nothing. Anyone else have Aetna and if so, how hard or easy was approval? Thanks in advance!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my sleeve and am so grateful for having had the opportunity to have this wonderful tool which has enabled me to get healthy BUT...does anyone else notice that their weight loss has encouraged people to treat you like public property? What do I mean? Haven't you lost enough weight? Your face is getting too thin! You have made your point and this operation worked, but don't you think you could have done it yourself? You are half of what you were, can you believe you were so fat? How do you know you won't gain it back? Anyone else getting inappropriate (though well-meant) attention?

First of happy to report that my waist measurement is finally less than my inseam! Secondly I am starting to have people tell me not to lose anymore weight. Wtf? It's none of their business. Also I am still technically overweight for my height. I could lose another 20-25lbs of fat that I do still have. What do you tell people when they say things like that? I find it extremely rude of them.

Hello Everyone!!! It's been a while since I posted anything but life has been great and on Friday at my doctor's appointment I got weighed and I have lost 102 lbs since my surgery on April 21st. On April 21st I weighed 285 lbs, today I weigh 185.6 lbs and I wear a size 14!!! I am very busy with school and working full-time and I'm only 12 credits away from receiving my bachelors degree in psychology. Life is definitely better when you subscribe to living a healthy lifestyle which includes exercising daily, eating clean, healthy food, getting your required amount of Protein, and drinking pleanty of good old Water. I walk five miles everyday and do strength training which…

HW: 228 (June 2014) SW: 216 (July 16, 2014) CW: 179 (September 27, 2014) I am 5'1" I am a slow loser, but I am making progress. I was squeezing into a 16W and now I am a loose 14, snug 12. I am able to exercise and move so much better. I still have not met the 60 grams of Protein goal each day (sometimes just 3 times a week). I can eat so little, it is hard to get it all in. I am thankful I did this! I have quite a ways to go, but I now have hope - something I have not had in such a long time!

I just got back from my three month follow up with my surgeon's office. The APRN was amazed that I lost an average of two pounds week! More than two of those weeks was on 7 day cruise and all inclusive land tour. I ate good, and had a few drinks. Avoided the dinner rolls and other carbs, but there was some cheating. I hit the fitness center on the ship for five of the seven days--that was a good 4000 calories burned! I sampled some bad foods, but I didn't over indulge. A small nibble of the deserts kept me happy. In the past I would have gained several pounds, but I held my own--I see a three week "stall" on my weight charts, which is fine by me. No gain is good! I'm b…

I was standing in a room the other day and someone, who hasn't seen me for a while, walked in, looked at me and said, "you are scary skinny". My only response to that is "J and E babe, J and E". (jealousy and envy)

Hoping these pics show up! Still have about 25-30 pounds to go, why are they the hardest! Love my life now, cannot believe all this change happened in one year! Any more Sept 2014 sleevers out there? Good luck to everyone and to all you newbies...........it's worth it, it's worth it, it's worth it!

Today marks 6 years since I went into surgery and came out a changed person. I am so much happier than I ever thought I'd be. Life is better. I am stronger. I am smarter. I went into the hospital 6 years ago weighing 301 lbs. This morning I got on the scale and I am 122 lbs! I have a small frame and I'm 5'2. To me, I feel perfect. I am content. I am happy. The road here wasn't easy. It was emotional. It was hard. It was even lonely. ... But today, It is no longer hard, it's not emotional and I'm never alone. Happy Re-birth to me!!!

Ok guys it's three more weeks until my surgery date! :-). Yeah! I'm feeling like a winner. I was scared, reluctant, and insecure about having bariatric surgery, but as my surgery date approaches my mood has changed. I'm not afraid of sagging skin or hair loss. I'm afraid of not seeing my only child not graduate high school or being there when she graduates from college. Since her dad is gone I will walk my baby down the aisle one day. These thoughts bring me joy and I'm ready for life and I will no longer exist.

I am 11 days out and at this point - 25 days of liquids and a lot of pain - it's difficult to imagine ever eating again. Can some of you successful veterans tell me what an average day's meals consist of for you? All I hear is eat a few small bites, sip throughout the day.

It's been one year since my surgery down 118 lbs. still have a ways to go but enjoying the success.

I am probably reading too much into things BUT I have hit what I thought was a stall a couple of days ago. Then I weighed myself again and found that I have gained 6lbs in a couple of days. I know my cycle can play a role but I also notice that I can eat a bit more. I am 2.5 months out and list a total of 40 post-op. I am scared I have stretched my pouch. I don't stuff myself, nor drink while eating. I eat healthy, whole foods and very little carbs (complex ones only) along with my protein shakes. I also exercise. Anyone else run into this issue? Could the honeymoon be over?

Tomorrow will be 1 year. Loving the new me I started off with weight watchers @ 266. The Bariatric center started me out @ 245. I am down 122 pounds. I am now 144 pounds I have 10 more pounds 2 go but I am so happy.LIFE IS FUN AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!

I fully realize now that there are a lot of jealous people that would gladly sabotage my journey. My mother being my worst critic. She has always put me down. Now that she has gained weight, she is very scared of me weighing less than her. My solution is to discuss anything with her accept weight. She knows I will change the subject. I visited two days in a row with a totally new hair do which was very flattering and she refused to notice. I am doing this for me and not her.

Hit goal today! Finally!!! 1 year, 3 months and 4 days is what it took to hit 145. I'm extremely happy with my weight. Don't want to lose any more. I really LOVE my size, but I want to continue to build muscle and tone up my body. To be honest, I think I finally met goal because I'm losing muscle mass due to not having the time I had before school started (teacher) to lift consistently. I'm a size 8 (6 is fitted, but I can squeeze in! Lol!) and I know once I get my little apron removed when I get my tummy tuck in December, I'll fit perfectly into the 6. This has been a life changing journey, I've completely changed my life style and don't miss my old, bad habits. Thank…

I rode my daughter's bike yesterday! The knee pain was less than it was a few months ago. I can do this! I'm so excited. I'll be borrowing her bike this fall when she goes back to college soon. Woo hoo! As an added pick-me-up yesterday, MyFitnessPal said if every day was like today, in five weeks I would weigh 198 pounds. Onederland is coming! Have I mentioned that I love my band?

It was so amazingly beautiful yesterday in NYC that people were going in and out of my apartment building all day. So I wasn't surprised to see a woman who lives in my building for the first time in at least several months. She was overwhelmed with my transformation...but I've actually sort of gotten used to that. But what was different was that she wasn't focused so much on my weight loss as the whole package..especially no more cane. She told me I should write a book about my journey and that she would be the first to read it. I laughed and said something about not doing anything that was book worthy and she disagreed and said I didn't give up. That I faced my issues…

I am posting this to see what kinds of foods we all find that helps satiate. For me, my new "junk" food are cashews, peanuts, and pistachios. I have read other forums where folks have expressed concern about the fat content of nuts and there for, abstain. I for one find these items a great way to satiate and satisfy a junk food craving (salty, that is.) My NUT encouraged eating these foods too, barring allergies and the like. I find an once serving keeps me very satisfied for a good while....or at least until I can have my next meal and it KILLS head hunger, for me at least. What are some foods you use to satiate? I also like low-fat cheese and chicken breast or tuna …

Today was my 9 month bandiversary. I've had many NSV's along the way but none as good as the one I experienced today. You see, 1 year ago this weekend, I participated in my very first 5K race. My teenage son talked me into doing it. I reluctantly agreed. I walked the entire race and it took me almost an hour to finish it. And I was walking as fast as I could. The race is held annually so we decided after last year's race that we would return this year. So today, we did the same race that took me almost an hour to finish and I was able to finish it in about 31 minutes. Not only that, I placed 3rd in my age division! I've been doing 5K races about once a month since spring …

I had my surgery done robotically on July 28 & my only issue in the hospital was the anesthesia. I got up the next morning & walked my laps around the floor. I sipped my water & that night they added crystal lite, was good. Next morning I had a protein shake, drank it in about an hour & went home @ 11 that morning. I took a Tylenol 2 days later, other than that I took no pain meds. I'm on stage 4 now, mashing up my food isn't so bad. It's just amazing how full you get so fast on so little. I made the mistake tonight of eating a bite too much of my egg salad......feel uncomfortable now. I really didn't know what to expect & it surely is not tak…

Hello all, I just wanted to drop in and provide a brief update. I am about 3.5 months post-op. At 105 pounds lost, I stalled for about 2&1/2 weeks staying constant and even gaining 1/2 pound. I didn't freak out however, (mostly thanks to you wonderful people because in your writings and sharing of your stories you prepared me for this eventuality) and I just kept working the plan, Protein, Water, exercise, exercise, exercise. I am now happy to report that I am back to dropping weight! I am currently at 107 pounds lost. I also want to Thank you all for helping me to appreciate the Non scale Victories that continued during my stall. I know that muscle weighs m…

This morning, I went shopping, I've been using stuff that I've kept from years ago - is it still vintage if you've always owned it? I've been buying stuff and selling on eBay, but have finally had to concede defeat on the work clothes front - I work in events and all of my suits look awful. So am 3 dress sizes smaller and was an easy shopping experience, I actually tried stuff on, yes I fell into the "just take it home rather than get hot and ridiculously sweaty in a changing room category" I came home and washed my hair, now ladies can I just say I have HAIR, it's thick, long, glossy, curly, the sort of hair that people stop me in shops to tell me how lovely it is - …

OMG Im so happy right now that i feel like crying in relief. I just had to share this... So I have a very severe immune deficiency. I have very little immunity to viruses, fungus, and bacteria. I even dont make antibodies to some vaccines (every heard of/ seen the movie "bubble boy"? Thats what I have). Theres nothing to be done for part of my immune system, but I can get IV infusions every 3 weeks to help with part of it (i wont bore you with details). Ive been getting the IV infusions for almost a year now. My starting level (the level they track for this part of the immune system) was 140. Normal is 900+. My immunologist was seriously shocked i wasn't hospitalized. S…
