Just had my 6 month follow up with dr's and still cannot believe how this surgery has changed my life, I went from a high weight of around 285 to 169, size 40/42 pants to 32/33 and med/large shirts not only has my eating and workout habits changed but my outlook on life in general, I love being outside and being active, I enjoy wearing nicer brighter clothes that stand out, there's more of a bounce in my step. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm gloating, but by no means was this an easy road to haul, I cut out the social lunches at work and hit the gym instead now a lot of the guys and girls I work with join me in the gym and tell me what an inspiration I am to them, I prepa…

Hey guys!! SW: 331 CW: 278 GW: 180 Height: 5'10" I've lost a total of 53 pounds since my surgery on May 13,2014. Is that pretty good? My goal is to be 180 by June 1st.... I've hit a few stalls, which makes me nervous and I visited my surgeon the other day who said I needed to increase my daily calories from 800 to 1000. I do cardio anywhere from 30 mins/day to 1 hour sometimes. I've been trying to eat better and get more Protein in... Who thinks I can make my goal? I'm praying that I can! I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding next June and I'd like to be 180...

So, my sons school had curriculum night, tonight. I was running late, and literally running to his class room to make it on time, now his class room , same as last year, is way way down a long hallway, outside a door, you then walk outside about 200 ft. Then into another building, And then up a lengthy flight of stairs. It didn't even occur to me until after I got home, that last year, visiting his class room, I was winded, and embarrassed for being so out of breath. This time was a total new experience. I was not winded in the least, I ran and zoomed up those stairs, like it was nothing. Amazing.... I just love my sleeve, and crossfit has definitely helped too!

Hi everybody I am more of a lurker than a poster but read the forums every day and love hearing how everybody's getting on. Before and after pictures really kept me motivated when I was starting out, so here is mine as I officially hit a normal bmi yesterday! Taking a lot of courage to post my before pictures, they make me so sad. I can't believe I was ever that big - I certainly didn't feel it at the time. I was sleeved on the 5th October 2013 with a BMI of 44 weighing 240lb. As of yesterday my weight is 132lb with a BMI of 24.9. I have gone from a size 20 a 4/6. I want to lose another 12lb to give me a bounce range, but now mainly working on tightening everythin…

So I was debating where to post this, and it seems like a success, so I decided on the success stories board. :-) I was looking through some old pictures today and came across one taken 3 years ago of me and my husband and it just kind of struck me how sad I look. And this picture was not even taken at my highest weight! So I put it side by side with a picture taken a couple weeks ago of us together, and I was amazed. Not only does my body look completely different, but I look genuinely happy. I think a picture can tell a lot about a person.... And younger! Happier and younger is a pretty good combination for 3 years later!

It feels like I was just getting the IV in...putting my things in a bag, and being wheeled to my Operating room only yesterday. How time flys! This month has challenged me beyond what I could have ever imagined. The head hunger is real and there have been times where I felt like I couldnt stop myself from going through a drive thru. During those moments I remembered how many countless nights I laid in my bed crying...wishing that I could start my life over as a healthy thin person. I wanted this surgery more than anything, and now, one month later, I can say it has been the best gift I could have ever given myself. I started at 279, I'm now at 249. I have more work …

Hello all, I am 29 and had my RNY July 1 2014. My highest weight was 270# and I only lost about 6# before surgery. My current weight is 247. I would love to find women my age to connect with on BP. Everyone here has been great but I'd love to find women who are my age to swap successes, stories, questions, advice, and fears with. For example, I can't seem to find any threads regarding excess skin in women my age. How did your skin hold up after WLS? Another thing, many women on here seem to have kids and talk about running around with the kids. That's great and I welcome women with families but I also want to hear about single women and dating and going out dancing, g…

ok so I had my surgery November 2013 . i am 5 feet zero. I started at 192 and am at 152. I feel great. My normal(most of my years) I was a comfortable size 10. I am a loose 10 right now. In all my years of yoyo life I could never sustain a size 8.I feel great. The awful scale is slowing moving down (ounces not pounds) but I feel really good./ I was approached by the drs office (hospital) to tell my story ( success story).I am not sure what to do. I have told some/ people...not everyone. and am I success story????? I am happy with where I am at so far. I have decreased medications. I can physically do things that would have been impossible a year ago. I am happy wit…

So much has happened to me since I had my VSG 3 years ago. I look back at the man I used to be with sadness in my heart. I used to hate myself. I was sick and tired of well .. being sick and tired. I had no energy so I slept all day. When I wasn't sleeping, I was thinking about what tasty treat I could devour to sooth the pain of my existence. I hated my job and hated socializing with people. I simply wanted to stay home in my protected bubble full of various electronic entertainment devices and a fridge full of goodies to dull the pain. At the time I was married for a total of 8 years. During those 8 years I continued in my lazy slothful and selfish ways. It is impo…

Ok so I have posted before about this and have not really got anyone respond that this has happened to but I am just hoping maybe someone can relate and let me know what I can do to get back where I was. So I got sick July 4 within 12 days I put on 51 pounds (went from 168 to 221) but i was very swollen. Went to the hospital and got admitted July 17th they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me got released July 19th. Went and seen different doctors since then and no one know what is wrong. My liver enzymes are elevated and I'm going to a GI doctor September 16. I was put on medication at the hospital for the swelling and went from 221 to 209 in about 2 weeks. I ran…

I intentionally did not go near the scale all weekend. I woke this morning at 4am and went for my daily 4 mile walk. when I got home I drank some Water, took a shower then went to the scale... ...I am exactly 80 days post-op today. I lost 28 pounds in the month prior to surgery, mostly due to the 15 day 800 calorie liquid Protein diet. So as I stood on the scale the happy dance began... today I am officially 100 pounds lighter! THANK YOU SLEEVE! THANK YOU DR. ROGULA! THANK YOU BARIATRIC PAL! THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE BEEN SUPPORTIVE. POSITIVE AND INSPIRED ME TO MAKE THIS LIFE CHANGING/SAVING JORNEY! Today is going to be a very good day, the first of many more to…

So! I did it! I reached my first goal. March 10, 2014 I had my lapband surgery and I weighed in at 343lbs. This weekend I weighed in at 298.2 and that is a number I haven't seen in probably 4 years. I had been over 300lbs for quite some time so I ate my first goal to loose 44lbs, to make me less than 300. I'm loosing on average about 2lbs a week. It is slow and steady but I am super happy with my lapband decision and everyday is a new day to learn and grow into a better, healthier me. I am down a pant size or two and I am loving all the compliments that I am getting. I feel like I am glowing! My next goal is to loose another 20 by September 6th! I have a wedding to go to …

I figure I've lost close to one third of my excess weight, which is fine. But for the first time in many many years I feel hopeful. I'm very grateful that I was able to have this surgery. I've received some dumb feedback--like the "friend" who told me she doesn't "believe in stomach surgery," as if it were some kind of religion. Who cares what she believes in. I'm beginning to believe that I'm going to start feeling good again, as in good about myself, stronger, healthier, and at peace.

So yesterday, my family and I went to beach. I put on my swimsuit then a nice sundress cover up. I had no intentions of taking the dress off. However, when I put my swim suit on I glanced in the mirror and thought I saw a reflection that just didn't seem to be me. She was attractive, young, and vibrant. That was an image that I had not seen for a while staring back at me. Fast forward to the beach. We were taking pictures of the kids as they enjoyed their afternoon. Something came over me. I took off my sundress, jumped up and asked my friend to take a picture of me. I was so nervous as to what I was going to see. You see, often times when I look in the mirror and see on…

It's been a long time since I've been on here so hete I go... This has been the most amazing journey over the last year. I have started to live again and love again. I was a food addict. I still am but im in recovery... I ALWAYS will be.when I was 353lbs I would wake up and think about food. I would eat and eat and eat. I reached the point that I could barely tie my own shoes bc i could barely bend over. I had to roll off of my couch to get up.. I could barely wipe my own ass. I was always uncomfortable. Miserable.. I was completely miserable. When I would pull thru the drive thru I would act like I was ordering for 2 bc i was ordering so much food. When I wa…

I just found the most fantastic video's on Netflix that have two experts teaching those of us that are overweight how to deal with mental hunger. They teach what are good food choices. The doctor is an eating disordered specialist. Then JJ is an amazing expert nutritionist. the two of them take numerous cases of obese people and turn their lives around to eating healthy again. It is compelling programming. Everyone here should see these videos. I found them on Netflix. One is called Freaky eating and the second one is called Ruby, They are truly inspiring to all of us here on this site. I learned so very much and I know you will learn a lot to by watching them. They also…

I was 300 lbs at surgery. I am now 194. I know I have lost 100 lbs. I wear much smaller clothes. People tell me I look great. I KNOW ALL OF THAT. However, my brain does not believe it. Let me try to explain this.... EXAMPLE 1: I was having a conversation with 2 football coaches last week. Both of them are very overweight. Coach 1 makes a comment similar to "I tried to jump to the left and just couldn't stop and just kept on going..." Coach 2 says "Maybe lose that gut and you might could" I chime in, "big guys like us aren't too graceful are we?" The tone until I opened my mouth was one of lighthearted fun. BUT- When I grouped my self in the "big guys" grou…

Hello all, In keeping with my hit and run update posts I offer the following. Today is 74 days Post-Op and as of this morning I am down 95 pounds. I cannot believe it but I am so close to 100 pounds gone. Getting sleeved was the best decision of my life! Good Luck to all...we can do this!
-
I was sleeved on 7/9/14. I just had my 6 week post-op appointment. I have already lost 20% of my excess body weight. I am thrilled. I came home and tried on some long sleeve shirts that I didn't fit in before surgery and they are way too big for me. The same thing with a suit I barely squeezed into for a meeting on 7/2/14. It was so big I can't wear it anymore. I couldn't be happier with my choice to have the sleeve!

Hello. I'm six months post op and have been on Lexapro for four months. I'm loosing slow and getting closer to my goal by about 30lbs. Just wondering if anyone is on Lexapro post surgery and are you loosing? I hear on the net that some Lexapro patients have a hard time loosing. I must admit I crave carbs like crazy.

so, the 8th was my 2 month surgiversary. my starting weight at the beginning of this process was 303lbs. i couldn't tie my shoes or get dressed without getting winded. at age 26, and dealing with my weight since age 6, i knew i wasn't going to do anything other than get fatter. i finally made the decision to get the lapband i was offered on my 18th birthday by my dad. after 12 months of dealing with insurance, my information was finally submitted and after the longest 15 months of my life. i headed into surgery may 8th, 2014, weighing in at 284. 2 months later, i'm 256, and loving everything about my band. i've had one fill, which put me at 4.4cc's, and i have pretty de…

I made a flipagram video of the last 7 mths since being sleeved & I am hoping it uploads properly on here & everyone can see it. I am not sure how this will go as this is my first attempt @ trying to upload a video of any kind on to this site. I apologize ahead of time if it does not work. (So I am sorry) lol! Ok so here goes nothing... In the last few pictures of the video I stuffed a throw pillow inside my old size 26 jeans to show approx how big I really was, as the jeans fit around the throw pillow the same way it used to fit around my belly. I jusy thought it was a cute way to show how far I have actually come these past 7 mths. I also thought it was a goo…

On August 13, 2014, I celebrated the 2-year anniversary of my sleeve. I started at 275. My goal in August 2012 was to get down to 200. I got down to around 190. As of today, I am still hovering between 188 and 192. Two years later. The surgery changed my life.

Well today was the day. Onederland is what they call it. I call it goal day. Today I reached my goal of 200 pounds. fifteen months ago I started on a journey that has profoundly changed my life. I am now fit. I am now happy with my career. And I am so happy in love with my wife. This one change, changed everything for me. For those of you reading this and need some encouragement, know that it can be done. I have left my prison behind me and now am living life again. Thank you all for your encouragement along the way.

18 months before after photo. 16 months post surgery. Surgery weight was 295. I am 5 foot 10, 48 years young. I have been at this weight a few weeks now so I think it is safe to say I met my personal goal of 187. Currently 184.6 and 26.5 BMI and around 24% body fat. My starting BMI was 45 and I was almost 50% BF.

As of this morning I met my goal of reaching 175 pounds, down from an all-time high of 324. My journey has not been easy as I had some complications and a second surgery early-on, but I have no regrets about being sleeved and continue to be thankful for this opportunity . While many are pressuring me to to stop losing weight, I know that I need to lose at least another 10 pounds as my love handles are still begging for attention.

I know that I'm only just beginning, having had my surgery exactly 3 weeks ago(July 28), but I'm so excited I just had to share. I'm down 30# from my highest weight, just had my measurements redone by my trainer and I've lost 12 1/2" and I feel great! So far, I'm thrilled with the changes both psychologically and physically. I think that Sleevie and I have a bright future ahead. The information and support from this website have been invaluable- thanks to all.

I'm so excited to share a few victories! I lost a pretty good amount of weight before the surgery (about 60 lbs). My surgery was on July 28, and now I'm down about 90lbs total since January of this year. First of all, I just got back my bloodwork from my primary care physician. As of January this year I was bordering on pre-diabetes, had high blood pressure, triglycerides were horrible, and good cholesterol was in the dumps. On top of that I had been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and have been on a CPAP for about 5 years. As of this week, ALL my values are now within normal ranges. Cholesterols are great, triglycerides normal, nowhere near pre-diabetes levels. I…

Hi. I'm 5'6 and was 172 the day of survey 6/27/2014. Almost at the end of my 2nd month and I'm 151 lbs. I won't lie......I'm super frustrated. The majority of the weight fell off the first month, and now it simply won't budge....and it makes me want to scream. I had much better results with the Lapband until it slipped and they removed it May 2011. I know weigh loss is slower with lower BMIs but this is ridiculous. I can't eat barely anything, my energy is zapped, my brain feels mushy ( not a good thing when I'm trying to finish my RN program) and still my scale doesn't move. Yes, I drink my water and get most of my protein in most days. I also walk 2-3 times a da…

Today is my 3 year sleeveaversary! My weigh currently fluctuates between 137 and 141 and I'm happy with that. My goal weight is set to 125 however if I dont get there thats ok. I have to say maintaining is the hardest part. I exercise like a beast but I still need to work on my eating habits- they could be better. My goal this year is to meet with a nutritionist to help me with that.

Two years ago , I took my kids to a Waterpark. I was overweight but I went on all the rides. I remember the stairs causing me to be out of breath but the rides were fine and we had a nice time. A year later, more weight, another "better" water park, I am not even comfortable in the specially ordered swimsuit I ordered for the trip. I have embarrassing moments with tubes and slides but I went for my children, not my self image. I am days away from surgery. Another year later, 60 pounds down, another Waterpark, I feel great. I notice that the stairs don't even cause me to be out of breath, the slides are fun and I have very few problems with tubes. I make it across …

As of this morning I can officially say that I'm now considered overweight according to the BMI scales. While I still don't necessarily agree with the way they generalize all of us, getting under that 30 mark feels awesome. Of course I'll still be considered overweight when I hit my goal, but once those 24 pounds are gone, I will be more than ecstatic.
