For the first time ever at the gym today, I was the only one running. The 3 other people were walking, but I was running!! I was the "fastest", and I kept it up for a nice 15 min jog!! Made me feel so proud!! Then to Celebrate I went down to the weight room and busted my butt. At one point a skinny mini was on the bar to do hanging leg raises and I totally did more and faster than she did. I felt actually somewhat normally fit!! LOL I have always been a completely non-athlete my entire life until recent years. Today I felt like I belonged there.

While shopping for an event yesterday I asked the saleswomen for assistance in finding some items. Without hesitation one brought me some items. Before I could tell her my size she had already brought me a size 6 which fit perfectly. It was so exciting to have someone see me as a smaller size. My final selections.

I woke up this morning and weighed 199.2. I am so happy to see that number, it has been over 7 1/2 years. I couldn't wait to share it with everyone. Have a great Thursday everyone!

Hi, my surgery was 2 months ago on April 3rd. I had gastric bypass rny and since surgery, I've lost 25lbs. It seems kinda measly to me. Especially, for it to be rny. I'm seeing ppl with the sleeve or lapband losing more. I thought the weight comes off quicker with the bypass? Oh well, just so long as it comes off. I definitely feel so much better! How about you guys?

Celebrating today as I've finally gotten past the half way point. Wanted to post to all those on the fence about surgery (as I once was) and for those in the early-early days who can't conceive of the success (as I once did). What a wonderful tool this is! It's still work, and it's getting harder, but it's a tool that really works. I track everything. I still weigh and measure most things. I am struggling to make exercise a part of my everyday life. But I feel so incredibly good. The daily pain of my knees and feet are gone. My blood pressure is normal. My cpap settings are the lowest you can have. My energy is improving. To be certain, surgery isn't for every…

I was originally banded in 2003 at just 18. I was 250, got down to 170, had a slip, erosion and removal. When my band was replaced a year later, I had gained everything back, plus some and was at 270. I lost about 60 with my second band and started the roller coaster cycle that continued for 7 more years. Up 40, down 20, up 20, down 10, up 60, down 20... And after having my kids and looking at turning 30 in the worst shape of my life, I decided to revise to a sleeve. The day I decided to revise is my before picture. Thanksgiving 2012. I was 270lbs at 5'1. I busted my butt and was at 230 the day of surgery, May 11, 2013. Today, 14 months out, I'm at 125 and couldn't …

I confessed the other day to having taken an embarrassingly huge number of selfie pictures. While normally something teenagers are hounded about, I found myself snapping away because I am still shocked by how different I look. I am trying to get used to a new face. I don't recognize ME yet in this different version that is 66 lbs lighter. I can only imagine the changes after another 50 lbs! And then I thought.."I can't be the only one!" So...don't leave me hanging...revel a little in your new you look and show me your selfie!

..how grateful I am for my band. I was on a cruise last week and was able to do whatever I wanted. I walked all over this huge ship and had no pain, no issues at all. I went onto a small boat to go snorkeling and had no problem getting on it from the dock, or getting in and out of the Water on the ladder either. I was even able to run the length of that long long pier in St. Thomas as we were late back to the ship. I kept up and even went faster than my sister. I've gotten a new lease on life and it's all due to the band. I had absolutely no issues with the food because I was so aware of how much better I was feeling this time compared to the last cruise I was on. …

Just had the sleeve procedure on May 22. I have always suffered from horrible colds and drainage and I have a horrible gag reflex. However I have had 2 head colds since my surgery and on the backside of it I get horrible post nasal drip that I can't seem to dry up. It is causing me to gag and throw up. I'm wondering if this is because my stomach is smaller and I can't stomach the drainage? I am throwing up mucus everywhere... At home, in the car while driving, etc.... I'm afraid to go anywhere for fear that it will happen because it can't stop it. Please help. Is or has anyone ever experienced this? I don't know where to turn.

I go Friday to get my date from the surgeon for gastric bypass - I've completed all requirements as of this afternoon. At my OB appointment this morning, the doctor and I were talking, and the nurse in the room with me tells me she had bypass 3 years ago, and although she looked healthy and slim, she says to me, "It's not what it's cracked up to be, I've not had a day since I had the surgery that I actually felt good." Wow. It floored me that she said that. Please, those of you who have had the surgery for a while, please reassure me. I'm doing this surgery because most days I don't feel good now. I want to feel good and healthy and energetic. Do you? Thanks so much…

So I wanted to update everyone. I am actually 29 years old. Great guesses out there!! The reason I asked, is because my entire life people have always thought I was at least 10-15 years older than I am. Since I have lost weight, I get a lot of the opposite, which is an entirely new feeling. Thank you so much for playing <3 So about a year ago, I posted on a few different forums asking how old people thought I was. Now I am 9 months post op, I wonder how I look age - wise now. If you know my age, please don't spoil it. I will post my age after I get an idea from people. Thanks for playing. Be honest.

Sorry it is sideways. I have no idea why i…

So I was able to make my old saddle work by adding a seat shrinker pad. It was actually quite comfy. But now my butt has shrunk so much that even that is too big. So I splurged on a new (used) saddle this week! I've always ridden western until my last saddle which was an aussie with a horn. SO comfy! I will never ride anything but an aussie again. So in my search for one that fit both me and my horse, the winner was a Muster Master from Australian Stock Saddle Company. It is a crossover saddle, which basically means it fits and looks like an aussie, but takes a regular western cinch and has a western fleece bottom instead of the aussie serge panels. The other thing is thi…

I celebrated my 10th month surgiversary 7/24 while I was on a cruise to the Bahamas. I was nervous about the "all you can eat" aspect of my cruise, and it was a non-issue for me! I have always hated buffets because of the temptation to over over-eat or shame . It turns out that I loved the buffet because I could literally take a bite of something and then be done with it. I enjoyed many different tasty meats, salads and the occasional treats. No weight loss or gain. I used the gym to my full advantage and thoroughly enjoyed my trip.

I am overjoyed this morning to report I weigh 199! It is a big day. Most people can say I haven't weighed that since...but honestly I don't know when I last weighed this as I avoided the scale. I am so excited to say I joined the onderland club! 25 years ago I was around 170 I believe. I have had a slow weight loss compared to some but it is going down and I am thrilled nonetheless. Yippee!

Hey guys. I'm one year out and 110 pounds down. I'm doing really well, but I've been stalled for about a six of these months. I lost motivation and spent the past months floating between 215 and 206. Now I'm down to 203 after a month of pushing from 215 but I can't do this alone. I decided to start a YouTube channel and make weekly videos for weightloss. I'd love if you guys would get involved and just tell me how you're doing and stuff on my videos so I can be motivated and know I have people out there with me who know what I went through and what I'm going through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_POHG-CU0k&list=UURGzbnHNdCqQ8SbGPA_rMDA Here's my first video.…

I never thought I'd hear myself say "I don't want to lose anymore". I've been dieting off and on for 40 years. It's always been feast or famine for me. I, like most here, have tried every diet and weight loss program created, even created a few of my own. I don't have a bikini body, but I'm very happy with what I've managed to accomplish with the help of the band. I'm more active and healthier than I've been in a very long time. Whats more, I'm noticing that people don't remember the bigger version of me. My son made the comment the other day to his wife that there's no way I ever was large, He just can't remember that. It's only been a year, lol. I see mysel…

Today I weighed myself and I could not believe my eyes - the scale said 199.5!! This is the first time in years (9?) that I have seen this number. Stats: Female, 5'4 1/2 , 30 years old Surgery 2/4/14 weight 244lbs Today 6/28/14 199.5. And this is without any fills since surgery (my surgeon puts in 3 cc at time of surgery though).

I am scheduled to be sleeved in 2 weeks. I just read on another forum that the sleeve doubles in size after 1 year? Does anyone know if this is an accurate statement? Although I assume the overall volume would still pale in comparison to my stomach volume right now, doubling in size sounds a little scary in respect to regain. I've not heard this before.

Hi all!!! I was sleeved on 6/10 and recently began ursodiol 300mg twice a day. Although I shouldn't since I'm still in the early stages and fluctuating, I weigh myself usually everyday...my first weigh in after the medication I fluctuated 3lbs up..did anyone else notice if their gallbladder meds changed their weight or slowed the progress of their weight loss? A few people have expressed bloating and weight gain while others have said it helps to aid in weight loss as your gallbladder can breakdown cholesterol etc. perhaps my weight is attributed to the fact that I had about 680 cals compared to my average of 400-500. Thanks all!!! -Mike

Banded May 15th and down 26 punds! I am so proud of myself and just wanted to share. I have been stuck with developing a reward system that does not involve food. In the past food and overeating has been my reward. Overeating numbs me to a place of uninteresting, dull days of isolation. So I joined a few meet up groups who do community service, hike local trails, go to happy hours and listen to live music. I am so happy I have found a great source and avenue of a healthy reward system that will help keep me motivated to move forward with my weight loss. Earlier tonight I went to my doctors office lap band support group. Many members said I was looking so good. They all s…

Does anyone have any books they would recommend for how to deal with the mental part of WLS? I'm not craving food now and have no problem with the physical part of this, but I'm grieving my relationship with food & wine. I would love to find some resources. Anything you recommend that has helped?

I can't believe how proud of myself I am! I feel great! I have tons of energy now!! I just had my 2nd follow up appointment 12 weeks out from surgery and I am down 65 LBS!! I have gone from pants size 24/26 to size 18, I had to go out and buy all new shoes because my old ones I was slipping around in! I even had to cut off a bunch of my belt (didn't want to buy a new one) so that it didn't look rediculous! I haven't had a bunch of pictures taken of me lately but I will post some of my current look as soon as I remember! I am just so excited at my new lease on life! Everyone at work and at home is so proud of me, it's amazing!! I still have a large amount of weight to go…

Went in and saw my nut and doc Tuesday. I'm thinking I need a fill. Still eating more than I think I should. The nut took pictures because I'e lost 110lbs since I started this journey in May of 13. 71 since surgery in November. We discussed my dietary needs and off to the doc I went. He comes in with my 100lb pin and tells me he doesn't give those out too often. We discussed my weight loss since my last visit 6 weeks ago. I was down 12lbs. So I broach the subject of getting a small fill. He shuts me down and says I don't need one. He puls out my chart and said look at this column. I looked. It was the weight gain column. He tells me you haven't gain an once since start…

It's so nice to be able to come here and just be happy about this, rather than worrying about which of my friends will take me being so excited the wrong way (some of them wanting to lose weight, too)!! So thank you, everyone, for being here and being you! My life has been so busy since surgery, I hadn't really had a chance to stop and reflect about how far I have come. I started preop diet at 262, had surgery on 4/1/14 at 252, and today I weigh 203. Soooo close to the hundreds! That's 59 pounds in 4 months. Do I feel like I could have lost more by now? Yes. Has this been easy? Not at all. You all know the drill, we each have our challenges. Mine biggest ones are persis…

I start my two week pre-op diet, then surgery on 9/10. In bed tonight, legs really aching, tired, getting ready to put on the cpap. Sure am ready to move forward... Wish I had known I was so anemic! That caused the delay. But hopefully the time will fly by and the iron will do the trick. SO ready for this!

Well tomorrow starts the next year of my weight loss journey. It is hard to believe that in the last year I have lost almost 200 pounds. I rolled into that OR not knowing how well or how successful I would be. Little did I know how great a decision this gastric sleeve procedure would be for me. My quality of life has so drastically improved. My diabetes is in total remission, no more high cholesterol, high blood pressure gone, back problems history, knee problems non existent, my energy is back my zeal for life is back. I am able to care for my wife who is chronically ill from RA and obesity (I know ironic isn't it). Needless to say I am so very thankful to everyone who s…

I just joined a few meet up groups here in Austin. Social groups, Hiking groups, groups that want to walk to lose weight and laid back happy hours. I am thrilled to find some non-food rewards for my weight loss adventure. Going to volunteer to beautify some gardens, hiking wild basin, happy hours with other singles looking to meet new people, adventure activities and helping out in our community. I am thrilled to find some active, non-eatinfg activities that where I will be able to make more friends. This weight loss journey is hard. Lifestyle changes take time but I am taking a proactive approach to re-integrate back into healthy social settings. My obesity has me very s…

My date is set for October 6th, I'm all prepared, I'm educated, I'm committed, I had the support of everyone including my husband after explaining the procedure! Then I took my husband to the "doctor talk" yesterday and he now feels this surgery is not for me. Talk about feeling like having the rug pulled out from under me! He's stuck on the 60% success rate figure, he feels it's too invasisve, and that it's too much work. He wants me to go back to the gym and weight watchers instead. While I know the surgery is NOT an easy fix, I feel it's the right tool for me after years of struggling with weight. We are having healthy discussions about this. We have the most loving …

Surgery date : 8/16/2013 Pre surgery : 287 Surgery day : 251 Now : 180.1 Height: 5'4'' Just a little over 100 lbs down and I've been struggling to loose weight for about a month now. I've tied changing my work outs and swimming more but it hasn't helped because I find myself more hungry after swimming. I also have started taking more vitamin D and I feel like with all the vitamins , b12, and other meds it's just been very stressful to be stuck at the same weight for so long ... Any else struggle at this mark ..... Thanks for any support - Lissette

Big NSV today. I had to take my daughter shopping at Old Navy…it’s back to school time and she needed school clothes, so since there was a sale there on school clothes, and I had a ton of rewards saved up, I managed to get all of her back-to-school clothes for $2. But that’s not the best part. While we were there, I looked over the women’s clothes. Now, I haven’t shopped in a regular-size store…probably since I was a teenager. So that’s quite a while. I have bought from Old Navy, but only from their plus-size (online only) store. But while I was looking at their clothes, I started thinking hmm…that looks like it might fit. And it DID! I bought a few shirts and a pair…

I'm 6' tall, currently wearing a size 26 and weighing in at 350. I just got approved for the surgery so my date is tbt but it will be soon. I think my surgeon is scheduling end of Oct/early Nov. My goal weight from the surgeon is 220. For my height, I could go as low as 180, realistically, if I get around 195 I'd be pleased. I'm not going to lie, seeing people starting out at their highest weight, and having that number be the same as my goal number makes me feel like ****. I get that they're like 5'4 or whatever, but it still sucks. Where are all my tall ladies? I am getting so discouraged! I want to see some before/afters and waist clothing sizes for tall girls lik…

Im pre op yet (I have surgery next wednesday the 30th of July!) But I have made a list of a couple promises to myself to keep throughout all this and thought I'd share and see if anyone else had something similar. 1- I promise to never call myself fat, not now, not in the future, not when looking at old pictutes, never. Im committing to this promise for a couple reasons. One being a positive outlook. Instead of calling myself fat I am going to say look at all the awesome changes I've made since then reason two being- when I call myself fat someone else is comparing my comment to theirself which can inadvertently be hurtful. My sister is rail thin and would always say s…

This is one of my favorite quotes and one that I can live by every day now because of the decision I made to have the lapband. I'm almost 15 months post-op and because of this amazing tool my life has changed dramatically and I know it will only continue to get better with each passing day of maintenance. I've learned so much from my doctor, the wonderful people on this forum and through my own mistakes. 15 months ago I was absolutely miserable! I couldn't enjoy life because of the fear of bringing attention to myself, I didn't want to go to functions in fear of what people were saying or thinking, I was embarrased for my husband and kids to be seen with me (even thou…

Hi all, I have been a lurker for a few months now, but finally got my surgery date for July 22nd. It's a revision from gastric sleeve to RNY. I had the sleeve done in January 2009 because I chickened out of the RNY. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to handle it so went with the sleeve. Well, after 4 major surgeries, I gained all the weight back and my peripheral neuropathy is so bad, I can't walk any distance! So, back to the doctor for the revision. I am determined to get through this surgery and lose the weight so I can enjoy life with my kids and grandkids. I would love to hear from people who have had this surgery and can encourage me along my journ…

I'm set for surgery in 4 days. I couldn't be more excited. I had my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon today and all is well. I'm not nervous, scared, I have no doubts that this is what I want, and what I need. The only thing that scares me (aside from being off work for 2 weeks without pay) is the fact that I'm convinced I will have loose skin. I've had 6 kids and I honestly don't think this ol' belly has any elasticity left in her. Anyone else scared of this more than anything? I'd really love to hear from anyone who's experiencing the saggy skin issue and if it's gotten better or worse over the years. What do you do to conceal it or do you just "hide" it …

I am currently 7 months post op, and have lost over 140 pounds since I started working towards a healthier me! I am even participating in two races this summer. One race is called the dirty dash, which is basically a mud run, the other is called concrete hero. I am so proud to be doing these, as I never thought I would ever do something like this. I have attached a link to my concrete hero personal page. On my page, I have a little video about my weight loss- photos, photos! after I finish the dirty dash, I will add even more photos to the video. Feel free to check it out! I am so stoked by this!
