Let me start off by saying i've been lurking on this site for over a year now (since I decided to get sleeved). The site and all the helpful people on it have been an invaluable resource for encouragement and information. That said, I got on the scale this morning and was below 200lbs for the first time in about 16 years!!! 199.5. It's almost difficult to even comprehend this number is my actual weight. When i was at 372 lbs, I felt completely hopeless and had almost resigned myself to the idea that I would probably die of a heart attack or stroke in the not-too-distant future. My blood pressure and cholesterol were high. My resting heart rate was 95bpm. I had …

I had my surgery on May 19 2014. Best decision I have ever made. I've had great sucess and continue to drop weight. It's changed my life. People treat me better at work, at the store, and everywhere else, it seems. I've enjoyed seeing people's reaction to my transformation and the positive feedback I've been getting. I've met a super great guy. He's making me very happy. I'm enjoying life more. I'm addicted to walking. I go for one or two 30-40 minute walks a day. I listen to music and soak up the beauty around me. I just feel so much happier. We had family photos a couple weeks ago and for the first time, in a long time, I felt confident and beautiful. I wa…

Hello boys & girls of BP! I had to check in today and let you all know that as of this morning, I am in onederland!! It's not a number that means anything to my health really, but it just feels significant. I guess because most women aren't really supposed to weight more than 200 pounds even under the best of circumstances, but especially if you're 5'1/2". It's been at least 9 years...yeah, I was 22 or 23 the last time I was undoh-2-hundo. In honor of this (personally) momentous occasion, I am posting a couple of pics, which I've never done before. be gentle, be nice, or please don't comment...because my body is a onederland also i feel kind of dumb because…

Hello! I am 3 years+ post op VSG. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have never felt like I liked myself more. I feel in control of my weight and what I eat. I started my weight loss adventure at 262 pounds in 2011. Today I weigh 167 pounds. I had my ups and downs (I briefly gained 15 pounds during the 2nd year and lost them all plus a few, and I was anemic for a few months as well. I eat normally and I have no issues with food intolerances, loose skin, or nausea. Please feel free to ask me any questions!! I love this site, it has helped keep me motivated and focused. I will continue to check in as much as I can! I attached a before and a couple afters …

I need some help from my surgical pals! We need to represent and support each other. Please help me out below. They just posted an article on the FitBit website about my journey. I am trying to get as many people as I can to comment on the article. Right now the story with the most comments only has 40 and it been a year. I want to set the lofty goal of having 100 comments in two weeks. Would you be able to help me out with this? Please share it around and get as many people involved as you can! http://blog.fitbit.com/fitbit-success-stories-jonathan-b/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=success%20stories%20jonathan%20b

Today is my 3 year sleeve anniversary. I feel somewhat obligated to share an update, for those curious about the sleeve's effectiveness a little more down the road. I was what most would call a "slow loser" during the initial post-sleeve weight loss stage, mostly due to being somewhat of a low BMI'er to begin with as I was around a 38 or so BMI before the sleeve. My restriction was very noticeable the first several months and then I was able to slowly eat more and more as the months have gone by and then it has mostly plateaued the past year and a half to 2 years. At the 3 year mark, I am able to eat a good bit more than I could the first few months post-op, but sti…

Lets all share our best and worst well meaning compliments about our weight loss. My best was after returning to work after summer break: where'd you go this summer?! I mean where'd you go? Half of you is gone! Oddest (considering it came from my mother in law): look at you! You're nothing but boobs! Rudest: wow you lost all that weight and it found me. (Yes I am now responsible for others weight gain) But the nicest compliments are the simple, you look great! I know they mean my weight loss and I appreciate the subtlety. What are yours?

This morning I ran another 5K and I couldn't believe how much I have changed. In the past, on a rainy, cold Saturday morning you couldn't get me out of the bed. The day after Halloween would have been a drunken sugar high crash. But today I sprang up at 6:30am, got my family up too, and got ready to run. It was only 43 degrees out with sprinkles and wind, but being up and outside was almost magical. I love being a runner! My daughter ran a 1K fun run, then it was my turn. With gloves and earmuffs, I started out and ran my best mile ever at 12:14, then kicked ass to finish up at 40:06. When I saw the finish line a half mile off, I'd never tried so hard in all my li…

I am officially 5 weeks out from my Surgery and have lost 35 pounds total. This last week I have been frustrated as I have not lost anything! I am wondering if what I am eating is slowing things down ...I usually have a couple of Greek flavored yogurts a day and Soup a few reduced fat wheat thins with laughing cow reduced fat cheese and a Protein Drink. Anyone else having a slow down ?

I couldn't be happier with my progress!!! I had surgery July 28, 2014. I'm 5'5" and started at 262. I'm currently 205. Soooooo close to ONEderland! Life has been great. Food no longer controls my life, I can go upstairs without being completely winded, I'm starting to shop at "normal" stores, and I'm loving the changes I'm seeing in my body! I had my three month post op last week and my surgeon brought up the topic of reconstructive surgery! I plan on going for a consultation once I make my goal weight (150 lbs) to see exactly how much money I'll need to save. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. It has already chang…

Well, actually, 39.9! My BMI is now under 40. This was the first goal I set. I am officially out of the morbidly obese classification! I lost so slowly the first 6 weeks, but things are picking up now. I've also upped the exercise from 3 days a week at the gym to 5 (1 session with the exercise physiologist trainer and 4 times on my own). Today, after my session with the trainer, I am shopping for a non-morbid outfit! No more scary non-stylish things for me! Have a wonderful day, Ellen

Now I know BMI is basically BS...but I am still a little giddy that, for the first time ever, I am now a "normal" BMI...not obese, not overweight....but Normal. This is all still so crazy to me! Normal!! Never thought I would see it!

Wow! I am excited, elated, and obliviously happy about my decision to have weight loss surgery! When I look at photos of me before and after surgery my first instinct is to praise God for the doctors who did the surgery and the nurses, heck all of the employees working in that hospital who made my surgery uneventful and ensured my speedy recovery! Next I get overwhelmed with emotion that ranges from crying and then laughing because after 20 years of being obese and unhealthy I am now healthy and a few pounds away from my goal weight. I am grateful for the support and information I get from all of you here and I thank my god that even though we are millions of miles aprat …

I have my surgery on October 20th and I have a few questions. 1) How long is surgery? 2) Is there a chance of having excess skin after surgery and losing weight? 3) Do the fills and adjustments hurt? Thanks in advanced!

For some reason, I was thinking Sept 29 is my 1 month, but it was actually Sept 26. Started going to the gym about two weeks ago...no lifting yet, just cardio. No problems so far with food intake and no pain anywhere. My pre- surgery weight Sept 24 was 237. As of today I am 197! So far it's been a smooth ride... Especially the weight loss! I think at week 3, I thought I was hitting the dreaded "stall", but was wrong! Knock on wood...please no stall soon! My wife and sons are now noticing that I'm getting smaller and smaller. Good luck everyone!

I wanna eat! We can I eat again. This past 10 nights Ive dreamt about food. Its the only time I've been happy since the surgery. I miss cooking. In my mind I'm a gourmet chef. I have a million paleo/semipaleo recipes. I'm ready to get into the groove of things. How long did it take you to be able to eat again? Right now I can hold 1oz at time. On another note for those of you that are losing massive amounts of weight how did you do it? Were you strict to the diet. Did you have "fun"? When did you stay working out?

Hi guys, this is my first post and I am looking for advice and any information from anyone who can help. I have a BMI of 31 and am booked for sleeve surgery on the 8th of September. I am wondering what sort of weight loss I can expect, will it be slower because I have less weight to lose? I am really nervous about my surgery date but exicited at the same time, I suppose everyone is. I look forward to hearing you all. X

Today is my one year surgiversy. It also happened to be the day of my one year check up. It all started pretty great. I walked in and all the employees were making comments on how great I looked, they asked if I would be interested in a commercial spot or a website spotlight...my surgeon came in and actually brought another surgeon to come in and look at me, stating "this is why we do this!". I was on cloud 9. I weigh 121 pounds at 5'4". I have lost 111% of my excess body weight. I am healthy, happy and doing great except for some pretty icky acid reflux. My life is totally different. It is really sad, but the world is so much kinder to a skinny person. People smile, c…

This was taken on 10/12/13 This was taken on 10/12/14 Down 105lbs - I am so glad i got sleeved! I LIVE my life now... I dont hurt, or dread the stairs. I fit in an airplane seat with so much extra seat belt (yes i took a picture of the space now between me & the belt) (sorry for the mess on my bed - its not normally like that - i was pulling out clothes that no longer fit) Anyway - it was all worth it... I have never been happier.

hello everyone. i consider myself a success story, because of how i overall feel. it's been a full year, today, post op. i range between 175 - 180 lbs, currently. i feel happy with my weight, but i know i need plastics before i'll be happy with my body. my surgeon wants me to get to 14- - 145 before doing plastics, but thing is, i don't think i'll look good. i think i'll look like bones... i'll be discussing plastics in january, when i see him again. i started out at 300 lbs. to

This weekend, after 12 weeks of training, I completed the Hershey Half Marathon and came in 30 seconds under my goal time!!! That means I ran -without stopping- 13.1 miles!! That is just crazy to me, seeing as before my sleeve I never ran even a city block. Around mile 12 I really wanted to walk, but I just kept thinking "the girl I was before couldn't have done this, I'll finish for her." I pushed through & did it and outside of the birth of my kids and my wedding, it was the best day of my life. As a side note, we went to Hershey park the day before the marathon with my teen daughters & I rode every single roller coaster. The last time I was at that park, I…

I did it! Finally hit the elusive 150 lbs! In every diet program I have ever attempted, they asked that I pick a goal weight and I always threw out "150 lbs". I have never, not once, actually made it. The lowest I got was 180 after 3 months of HCG (which, of course, I gained right back) But after the sleeve...in 5 months I have lost 81 pounds and finally saw that 150 number! I am thinking I might try to lose 5-10 more lbs just to get solidly in a "normal" BMI...but if I don't, I am okay with my size 8 jeans, size medium shirts and *150 POUNDS*!!!!

No, I have not yet obtained "one-derland". No, I am not at goal. But today is still a special and important day to me none the less. Today I hit the 100 lbs lost mark. It is a deeply profound number to me. I have lost 100 lbs. It feels wonderful to say...( although it is tinged with some guilt to admit I had that much to lose to start with) I still have 76 lbs to lose to hit my ideal goal weight. It has taken me just shy of a year post op to make it down to my current weight, so as you can see I am NOT a fast loser. But here is what I am...I am a loser. I am a winner for being that loser. I have lost the equivalent of a small human being. ( not that darn small either!)…

I really didn't think I'd do it. My goal was -88. I've been hovering right around -98-99 for awhile but wasn't trying to lose anymore. Then I went on a carb binge (ice cream, bread, muffins, chips, chocolate, Cookies, potatoes and LOTS of alcohol) while traveling to visit family and attend a conference and gained 4 pounds. I was totally OK with it, since I was still below goal. But after just 10 days back to my normal eating routine, I lost that 4 pounds plus 1 extra to hit the magic number 100. I'm not real big on the scale numbers, but this one does feel kinda cool

I just returned from a dream trip to Thailand with my oldest daughter and at age 55, I did things I don't think I could have done physically my entire life. I have more stamina and thanks to a strict exercise schedule and healthy eating, am stronger and healthier than ever! I ate delicious food, just smaller quantities and always made healthy choices. To my shock, I came home after two weeks and had actually lost 2 pounds, which is unheard of for me on vacation. We went snorkeling in the Andaman Sea which required jumping off of a boat several times and then climbing up a ladder and the first rung was over my head, requiring strength I never had before...but I did it!…

Hi all! It's been awhile since I've been here, but I had my surgery one year ago today and I wouldn't have been able to get through it without all of the support I received here. I started out a year ago at 250 lbs, size 20 and a year after VSG I am 155 lbs and a size 6!

I was banded December 19th, 2013! I am glad I made this choice, to-date I've lost 83 lbs on the Lap-Band, 275 lbs on day of my surgery to 192 lbs this morning (7/16/2014). Also went from a pant size of 46 to 32! I still have my struggles/questions, where I feel like: I am eating more than 1/2 cup of food, eating too fast and I don't know if I've found my green zone, etc. I currently have 10 cc in on a 14 cc band. Starting on the day of my surgery, I started walking, after 2 months I was cleared to start exercising and joined a gym. I started walking on the treadmill and weight lifiting, increased that to running, started running up to 4 miles a day and weight lifitin…

I found a picture in my office taken about 6 years ago. I had a chance to meet someone famous, so I had to have my picture taken with him. Well, I showed my wife the picture tonight, and she asked, "Who is that?" Thinking she meant who I was pictured with, I answered, "That's Brian Cashman, the GM of the Yankees" "No, silly, who is in the picture with him?" "That's me" "No way" So, my wife of 25 years has gotten used to my new look, to the point that she doesn't recognize me in old pictures.......

I saw my surgeon today for a routine visit & weigh-in. I went in expecting to still be above my goal but, much to my surprise, I weighed in at 154 lbs! My goal when I started this journey was to reach 155 lbs, putting me at a normal weight for my height and a normal BMI. I was shocked to realize that I met that goal TODAY!!! Needless to say, I'm ecstatic! Now that I'm there, I've decided I still have a little bit more that I want to lose(not much, maybe 5 or 10 lbs) but I'm still celebrating this HUGE milestone in my journey as I can now say that I am no longer overweight, much less morbidly obese!!! Wow!!!! I thought this day would NEVER come and now, 8 months post-o…

When I was banded just under a year ago, I didn't really pick a weight goal. That didn't hold any interest for me. Instead I picked a physical challenge goal: running a 5k. I did it today!!! I RAN THE WHOLE THING WITHOUT STOPPING!!! I had my best time too!!! It's only going to get better from here!! My next goals are: --making it to 100lbs loss (soon, I think!! Only 10 lbs to go) --finishing a 5k in less than 40min (today's was 42) --doing a headstand (IDK why, it just seems cool?) --getting to size L (I'm XL now) A friend invited me to do a mini-triathalon with her next April. I think I just might do it!!!!

I was banded October 10, 2013. I am down 61 pounds and have 41 more pounds until I reach my goal weight. I am very happy how far I have come but 41 pounds seems so far away. I don't eat very much but when I do I don't make the best choices. Does any one have any tips/ advice/ suggestions? For instance for breakfast I drink a protein shake but I find myself hungry not long after. But at the same time, I can't eat solid foods that early. And exercise. ... ughhhh.. I can not seem to get motivated to exercise! I know that would make a huge difference. Any suggestions on that? Help! :-) thank you for taking the time to read this.

Before my journey started I wore size 24 pants, sometimes I could get in a 22 but they were a snug fit. Seven months later, today, I am in between a size 18 and 16. The 18’s are a little big and the 16’s won’t button yet. I will get into those 16’s soon. I went on a 3 mile walk this morning and thought about those dang 16’s that I will be in within weeks. A size 16 is my goal for the end of October. I think I can…I think I can. : )
