I have finally made it!!!!!!!! I couldn't be happier. I fit in normal chairs, I can reach my feet, I can pick stuff up off the floor!!! I feel amazing and hope to see my goal before my first year is up.

Has time been flying by. I'm still learning my new pouch. I still get Diarrhea about twice a month from to much sugar or fat. I have a very low tolerance to both and I don't always see the trouble coming. Other than that I feel great. My pants sizes are shooting down so fast I have only one pair to wear. I just went under 200 pounds, which to me was a milestone. I love the changes and I see I carry myself proudly. I hope everyone else is seeing the same thing I am and the best of luck in reaching you goal.

I will admit I haven't been around the forums as much but that's because I've been successful, It's unfortunately true that the more successful you are with the band the less motivation you have to hang out on internet forums and talk about. But I want to show support for all of you new Bandsters out there. Feel free to send me a message if you have questions. The long and short of it is that I have continued to lose weight at a steady pace by watching my calories and exercising as regularly as possible. I've had no complications from the band of any kind yet.

Hi Everyone! I usually don't do much topic starting, but I thought I would share. One of the things I wondered about pre-sleeve is if I was going to be successful. I was the world's WORST dieter. I was even worse with sticking to anything long term. The sleeve has changed my life 100% for the better. Granted, there have been some adjustments that have to be made (like new allergic reactions to foods etc), but I wouldn't change this. I was walking in the mall last weekend and walked by Victoria's Secret. I have never purchased any bras (or anything matter of fact) from in there, my chest was just too big. I thought, what the heck, lemme check it out. I need new b…

I'm 17 pounds from my goal. My BMI is 26.7. I was losing like clockwork for months, and suddenly hit a wall. I've lost maybe 5 pounds over the last 2 months. Was there a specific BMI where it got harder for you to lose weight?

I'm at stage five im at 8 weeks..and I'm going out to play bingo I researched the restaurants at the place or might bring my own stuff just in case..but anyone get anything that's good for us wls patients at panera or subway...I can do salad now but I'm just so nervous esp when I want to have a good night with no issues

I had my first appt with my surgeon today. I was expecting him to say Gastric Bypass for me as I am 50 and have to lose 100 pounds. I do not have any other health concerns excepts my knees, arthritis and oh yes I am obese. I have been concerned with the malapsorption of the gastric bypass but also the sleeve with gerd. I am having an EGD to rule out Hiatal Hernia and from there the surgeon will give me his recommendation on surgery. QUESTION: If U had gastric bypass & U had 2 do all over again verses the SLEEVE would U

So, for the longest time I didn't actually know what an NSV was, so one day I finally asked and I was like, ohhhhhh, it would have been helpful to know that earlier in the process! I have based my successes largely on the scale numbers. Getting under 200 was exciting, getting under 137 when I was no longer classified as “overweight” was great, and currently I am floating right above 129, which was my original goal weight. I go from 130-132 and then back to 130 and then back to 131 or 132. It is frustrating, however I am now complaining about weighing, on a bad day, 132 pounds, and that is something I should really be happy about. Past the fact that I have largely fo…

My surgery was September 26. Looking back (even though it's very recent), I can honestly say that the the biggest adjustment comes when you are given freedom to eat solid foods. What a challenge! When the diet was dicated to me (liquids, then soft solids, etc.) I ate from the list and that was that. But when you begin to explore what works for you and what doesn't (as far as the permanent diet), that's when the real adjustment comes in. And those first few weeks after begin given that freedom I had a few episodes where I either ate too much at once, too fast, or didn't chew well enough (good news: it's so unpleasant, you'll be sure to only do that ONCE!). But here I am 47…

On December 23, 2014 I made the Sleeve work for me!! I have made it passed my goal weight and continuing to maintain it. It felt good to hear from the staff members that they have not seen someone lose has much as I did. Don't know if they where blowing smoke up my Butt but it felt good to hear my hard work paid off. The sleeve is our tool and how we use it is all on us. The journey continues to maintain and good luck to everyone keep up the losing! HW: 265 SW: 260 CW: 127

10 months post op and -115 pounds (30 more to go). I'm constantly having NSV's and feel grateful everyday. More than anything, I am grateful for better mobility and overall health. Watching others struggle with basic functions has really opened my eyes as to where I was going had I not lost weight. This week has been so stressful at work. I'm a nurse and we have been unbelievably busy for about 2 months. The patients being admitted are so sick. I can't tell you how many times I've stood at a bedside this week and felt immensely grateful that I have been able to lose 115 pounds. Several of my patients have weighed 250-300 and are severely limited in their mobility.…

Today I mark 1 yr from having sleeve surgery, down 102lbs. I know without the surgery I wouldn't be were I am today. My journey hasn't been easy first 5 mths I was totally miserable and really ill - suffered kidney failure due to a toxic reaction to nexium and suffered gerd really bad. Never had gerd in my life even now still suffer a little, no heartburn or indigestion just a lump in the throat. I don't count calories and some days still don't hit my Protein and liquid goals but I try ????. Eating out can sometimes be hard as I feel I still don't eat like a normal person - still much less... I sometimes have regret for having the surgery but these days it's just a t…

Hi all. I am 3 months out from sleeve and down 43 lbs. I have two problems. One is that I am in a stall for almost 3 weeks. The second is that since Christmas, I am a little more hungry than I should be. I still can only fit about 4oz or so in but I get hungry quicker. Greek yogurt doesnt satisfy me. I seem to need more solid food to feel full. I'm thinking I'm not getting enough Protein. Should I eat more chicken? Also, Does anyone know how fast you can stretch your stoma? I know a few times I didn't chew well enough and I paid for it.

I'm posting this as a NSV, because for me (and I'm sure I'm not alone on this), motivation to start working out has always been my biggest struggle with weight loss... Today, I signed up with a personal trainer! I am going to be doing the sessions with my best friend, which is great because we are really good at supporting and motivating each other. I have always been scared about starting to work out because I've always told myself that I can't, that I'll do it wrong, I'll end up hurting myself, blah, blah, blah! I am putting my foot down now though, no more fear! I'm putting my big girl panties on (sidenote: must buy smaller big girl panties as the current ones a…

But man..in 2 months...58 lbs I'll never see again. I don't want this ride to end. My mental toughness has been tested during this journey. I know there's more to look forward to good and bad... if this is all I lose by far this is a great success story. I'd obviously like to lose more it's just I'm happy with my decisions and how my life has changed since having this surgery. Hope everyone's having as wonderful a Monday as me.

Hi all, I contemplated writing my success story because it seems once you pass over to skinny world who needs the website. However, I wouldn't be a success if I didn't see others stories that paved a way for me, so it's time to give back to help encourage and motivate others as the gastric sleeve has done for me! I'm 5 ft 2, started out 197lbs and I have weighed 121 lbs since 7 months out and yes today I still weigh 121lbs. I've surpassed every goal that was set and even ran in my first 10K before Thanksgiving. 2014 was a year of changes and it gave me confidence that I never had. I was a heavy depressed size 16 knocking on the doors of size 18 and now I'm a size 2…

I know that there are a lot of threads for MyFitnessPal started already, but I thought I would start a new one. Would love to get some nutrition ideas from other gastric bypass (or gastric sleeve) folks.

Well it's been 3 months since my surgery. A lot has changed obviously. The sleeve is a great tool, it's worked wonders for me so far. It's allowed me to make clear decisions about my health and diet choices. I'm working out around 4-5 times a week (30min weight lifting and 20min of cardio). I feel like my mental state is returning to normal. Those first few weeks of caloric deficit really alter your mental state. I've had some ups and downs. I lost my brother I was close to on December 5th. He had diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc. I was following his path in life. He was so proud of me for getting the surgery. He said I hope I can get it one day too. …

So I have lost over 150 pounds of the 375 that I was. I had my surgery in April. I am running a minimum of 3 miles a day with my Fitbit I register about 8 to 10 miles a day including my 3 I run. I was a 52 size waist, now 38, I wore a 5 xlt shirt now I wear and XL. I did not put too much faith in my band and probably could have gone with a little more resistance than I have. My plan was to teach myself a new life style and not depend solely on the band its self. I have enjoyed a huge amount of success, but the above is not for the purpose of having everyone throw out praise. I worked very hard and enjoy where I am at now, I love to exercise and work out. All the success d…

My surgery is scheduled for this Thurs. I have been reading posts on here for a few weeks but this is the first time I'm writing. I'm starting to panic & wonder if I'm making the right decision. This process has been 1 1/2 years for me so it's not something I rushed into. But I'm suddenly worried. And the things that keep popping into my mind are: can I really never have pizza again? What about margaritas? What if the hunger feeling doesn't go away & I'm hungry all the time but unable to eat? What if there is a complication? Please tell me I'm worried for nothing!

Hi everyone, I am almost 1 week post op and was wondering has anyone tried a cup of coffee yet? Today is my last day of the full liquid diet?

I was thinking today that the last piece I am missing is the $350 program fee and I have no idea how I'm going to get it. So I had planned to email the nutritionist and ask her if I could pay it after the day of the class (Tuesday). About an hour later, my grandmother calls and asks if I had gotten the money for and I told her no. Then she asks, "who do I make the check out to?" (Insert Happy Dance Here!) This is the same grandma who told me that she didn't want me to have the surgery because "you're just gonna fuck it up. you're jus like me, that's what we do, we fuck shit up".....well.....THANK GOD FOR HER ANYHOW!!!!

Maybe I am just re-living past dieting failures but this last week I have been feeling nervous that I suddenly won't lose another pound from where I am right now, no matter what I do. I journal, get plenty of Protein, do my best to get all of that Water in and havent had any bad carbs in months, do my best with activity as well though I am a bit limited at the moment with arthritis - Do you guys ever feel like this? Or folks who are a long way out - did you have that feeling too? I think I am just freaking myself out lol. I want it so bad but I guess I've felt like such a failure with taking care of myself for so long that I still am thinking that a healthy BMI will be …

Today I am 3 months post-op. I can tell you that my life has changed. nothing was given to me and I worked my ass of for every pound. I have logged every single calorie, hitting the gym multiple times a week working out so hard it hurts the next day. I wish I had a photo of me at my high weight... this is me at surgery 305# today I weighed 250# 55 hard fought pounds lost in three months. (last 1 or so I have been in a stall....) I am very private so it took a lot to share with you all, but I think all of your photos have inspired me so I owe it to return the favor.

So I just got the results of my 12 month postop labs. My 6 month labs showed high Iron and Calcium so I discontinued those supplements. This time around my iron was in the normal range but my calcium was still slightly high. Probably from all the dairy I eat. The only other abnormality was that my folate was high. This can be an indication of low B12, but in this case my B12 is fine. My PCP just figures it's from what I'm eating plus the 400mcg in my multi and he's not concerned. And just for shits and giggles he threw in some hormone tests and I'm happy to report I am not yet menopausal! So looks like I'll just keep on my current supplements (1/2 dose Vitamin Cod…

Things I never thought I'd say...but I did recently: "No, seriously... I don't want a bite." "One more size and it's goodbye Lane Bryant!" "I don't want to watch TV... I want to get on the treadmill." "Wait, let me look up the nutrition facts on MFP!" "I don't want a Coke Zero, thanks. Water's fine." "How much Protein does that have?" "I want a salad for dinner tonight." That moment when you realize your WLS must be working: ...when your own mother jokingly tells you you look terrible & you need to get new clothes. ...when you bend over and fall out of your bra. ...when someone you haven't seen in a while asks a mutual friend if you've been…

I am approaching my last supervised weight loss visit with my PCP at the end of this month and have not seen my surgeon for 5 months. Initially I told my surgeon that I wanted the bypass but now am thinking I would be better off with the sleeve. I guess I am wondering what helped everyone with their decision and do I need to tell the surgeons office before they send in my insurance verification?

Hi I'm 47 and before surgery my arms are and have been very flabby, they HANG and wiggle already.... i'm not in 20's so skin not gonna snap back..elasticity is GONE! lol Weights are very good for toning but the issues with my arms have been in existence for entirely too long and that is not going to help at this point with all the extra flab I have they hang at least 1 1/2 inch and wiggle, wiggle, so I know it's only going to get worse when I have the surgery on 12/23 and lose weight. I'm already prepared for that. :-( I think my only option will be surgery. Does anyone know what the rules are for your insurance to approve? Or is it very different for every company? I…

So July 1st was my 1 yr Bandiversary. I wanted to post that day but I didn't hit my 1yr goal and was beating myself up which was completely silly. So I stopped to take the time to reflect how much has changed in this last year. When I spoke to my surgeon pre-op I told him exercise was not an option because my body was so beaten and worn down from all my diseases and meds and chemo shots. Now I run a 5K 6 days a week and completed my first official 5K in June. This brings tears to my eyes because before I got sick I was a gym rat and how I missed it but still can't believe I am a runner a real runner! I has spent the last 6 yrs sick and fighting for life and when I decid…

I'm 19 yrs old and have been considering surgery since I was about 17 since I've dealt with obesity literally my whole life. My surgery was Nov 18, 2014. I started at 298 and am now at 254! Only 7 weeks out of surgery but have seen a huge difference in how I look! 5 days preop I was probably around 295lbs. 2.5 weeks was around 271lbs. 1 month post op I was stuck in a little stall at around 260. It's so funny that I look in the mirror every day and always tell myself that I don't see any changes and feel upset and then I actually look at the pics I took right before surgery and how much I've changed. Literally puts me in tears! Of course I'm still in progress, my…

I've got a regular followup with my bariatric surgeon tomorrow. The last time I was there was about six or seven months ago. I'm going to be one of those people in the waiting room who I used to look at and think, 'why the heck is that skinny thing sitting here? Obviously he/she doesn't need WLS'. Now I know why there are thin people waiting to see the doctor(s).

It is the most incredible feeling, to be back in control of my life and where it is going. Twice I have woken up and am so sleepy I do not actually remember I have lost all this weight and am surprised when I see myself in my bathroom mirror! it takes me a split second to remember how it happened! It just makes me laugh! I am enjoying the process very much I have to say. The few obstacles I have encountered are nothing , nothing compared to the new lease on life I now have! This is great time to express my gratitude to all the community here who has helped me without realizing it. Thanks guys!

My dress pants for work... I rushed to get ready this morning. 12 days off; hard to get back into my routine. Anyway - I picked a pair of pants out of my closet and I'm walking the hem off. They are at least a size and a half too big! They are HUGE. I am doing myself no favors wearing these pants but I had to get out of my house on time. They will get washed and put into the donate pile this week. My daughter tells me I need to get new pants. I'm not shopping until Spring. There is plenty in my closet I can "shop" from until then. And hugs. My daughter is 9; she can hug me and clasp her hands at my back. She is super excited she can do that. So I am.

I'm 6 months and 10 days out and loving life. I hit goal at 5-1/2 months (lost 72 pounds) and I'm staying right at that number +/- 2 pounds. Tuesday, my surgeon had a holiday celebration for former and prospective patients. He asked me to be one of the models and it was SO much fun! Here're the transformation photos that tell the whole story without words How incredible has this surgery been!

Is there a recommendation for how much protein/sugar to eat? I've been eating the cottage cheese with fruit and it only has 7 grams of protein and 10 grams of sugar. Seems like a lot of sugar for a low amount of protein.

..but that's where I seem to wind up now. Anytime we go out to eat, if there's a tight corner, I wind up there because I'm smaller than everyone else in the family or with my friends. And that's compared to even the 'normal' sized people. I don't mean I'm skin and bones but at just five feet tall and 117 or so lbs., I fit where no one else does. What an amazing transformation from when I needed a chair because I didn't fit in a booth or where I had to squeeze past people if the restaurant was busy...or people would have to get up to let me pass by or the fear of a wobbly chair breaking on me. Twice last week and again this past Friday, I was in the smallest space. …

I have to give a shout out to supportive significant others! I'm 9 weeks out and I'm down 40 pounds... Yay for me BUT my dear hubby who has helped me empty every cabinet and the refrigerator in preparation for my surgery and a healthier life style has lost 45! I'm so incredibly proud of him and thankful for the support he has shown me ☺️ not that he is in here or will ever see this. Just wanted to share how much further I think one gets with the true support of loved ones! Here is a pic of hubs!!
